The only friction point came from external constraints:

• Cascade CMS component limitations
• Marcom’s new launch process required additional documentation and ~15–20 extra
• hours not originally scoped

Earlier visibility into Marcom’s revised launch requirements might have helped anticipate the final funding gap. That said, Inventive worked proactively to downsize launch requirements and identify alternate funding sources.

Inventive collaborated with us to fully revamp our digital infrastructure, focusing on efficiency, scalability, and an improved user experience. They helped us implement a multi-site WordPress CMS that allows us to manage all our show websites from a single platform, making updates and content management much simpler. Each show site now has customizable templates that can be quickly duplicated and tailored for unique branding, even allowing separate domains when needed.

This streamlined setup has significantly reduced the time we spend on maintenance. Inventive also optimized site performance for fast load times and easy navigation, especially on mobile. The platform, which was deployed on AWS, is both scalable and reliable so we do not have to worry about handling traffic spikes during our events. More importantly, the cost-per-lead from our digital advertising improved so drastically that the CEO pushed for a full rollout before the project was even complete. The CMO said the results were "the best numbers we've ever seen."

Two major things stand out from this collaboration:

1. Much Easier Administration
   Inventive added smart features like a global media gallery and templated pages. Before, our
   team spent about 16 hours repeating the same tasks for each event. Now, those tasks take half the time—saving us around 8 hours each cycle, freeing our team to focus on more valuable work.
2. Significantly Improved Website Performance
   They dramatically improved our page speeds, which we track closely using Google PageSpeed Insights. Some standout improvements: 
   • Bridal show landing page (Mobile): From 7.3 seconds down to 0.9 seconds for First Contentful Paint
   • Bridal show landing page (Desktop): From 1.6 seconds down to 0.3 seconds
   • Bridal show video gallery (Mobile): Largest Contentful Paint reduced from 9.4 seconds to just 0.9 seconds
   • Home show landing page (Mobile): Total Blocking Time went from 950ms down to 20ms

What impresses us most about Inventive Works is their deep expertise in WordPress Multisite, an area where many other agencies we spoke with lacked experience. Their knowledge allowed them to build a robust backend tailored to our specific needs, making it much easier for us to manage our events. They were also extremely organized in their planning and communication, keeping us well-informed with regular updates and check-ins.

One area for improvement would be establishing clearer cost communication and helping us better coordinate our feedback to align on priorities. Early in the project, we faced some challenges in deciding which changes were essential versus those that could wait, leading to adjustments that impacted the budget. Midway through, Inventive began providing detailed cost estimates on a per-change basis, which gave us greater visibility into how each change affected the budget and allowed us to prioritize more effectively. This approach made a noticeable difference in helping us focus on what was most important

Their approach to project management has been well-organized because we also have a high-level relationship manager we can openly communicate with — they give me the space to air my grievances and request changes I’d like to make.

I liked that they actually understood what our needs were from the beginning, and we were very impressed with their velocity in adapting to our business model.

Other than that, we like their transparent approach to the development, as they always provide us with updates on the progress of each task consistently.

One thing they need to improve on is the turnover rate for their project managers. Their level of understanding varies from person to person, and sometimes it feels like they come from a different contractor.

I’m the director of product management at CLIPr, a video analysis and management tool. Folks can upload videos on our platform so our AI and machine learning technology can index their files. Once those videos are returned, users can browse, find, and share any chunk of them based on their content.

We needed help setting up a Zapier integrated framework so we could easily connect with other platforms. In addition, we were looking for someone to support the integration of our platform with Chargify and a custom sign-on solution that was to be implemented through Microsoft Teams.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Inventive Works’ CTO has come up with a general approach, and they’ve worked on developing the code. We’ve proceeded using agile processes as we discover, debug, and work around our Chargify issues. 

Our goal has been to allow an initial user to create an account and try our services through Microsoft Teams while having their company registered in Chargify. Additionally, we’ve been looking to add other users within the company’s profile and automatically include them in one billing.

From a leadership perspective it provided us a team of skilled expertise across a variety of positions in a more economical way than an-house team could provide.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The project manager is consistently a good communicator across the board in not only managing the project(s) through their lifecycle, but also in updates, tasks, timelines and deliverables. We communicate through weekly check-ins, emails, calls and Slack. It has been a very convenient communication process.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

This overall has been a very positive experience. As any new relationship goes there can be speed bumps along the way as things kick-off and Inventive was very proactive and collaborative in working through those items to reach the best end product and relationship.

Their modern design and optimization have been fantastic additions to our web infrastructure, as well as the timeliness in which projects are accomplished.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
