For the backend, we worked in two programming languages ​​due to our business strategy; both Python and NodeJS were used. Additionally, automation was implemented using the N8N framework. This allowed us to complete integrations with an ERP (SAP) and our communication tool (Slack).Additionally, this platform makes it very easy to incorporate new integrations. A web interface is also provided for additional configurations; it was developed with ReactJS.Several AI models were used within the field of Machine Learning. I’m the CEO and founder of Argo Trading. We provide AI services to agricultural organizations that produce cannabis. Our main offices are in New York, and we also have customers in several states within the US.

Our app allows anyone to become a master grower because any person in an organization can have an understanding of the condition of the plant by taking a single picture of a leaf. In my experience, it takes 7–12 years to train someone to have that level of understanding of the health of a plant. Our app will apply to every crop worldwide; we chose cannabis because this is the most lucrative market we have found.

What challenge were you trying to address with Intermedia?

We gathered that there was a need to generate a standardized process in which the growers analyze their crops. I intended to have a tool that would allow them to have excellent growing conditions and health for different crops. For this purpose, we wanted to produce a software solution to simplify, standardize, and allow an easier way to diagnose the health of the plants.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

Intermedia has built our mobile app from scratch using AWS, TensorFlow, React, and Python. Regarding hardware, they’re using a platform based on Raspberry Pi for the app’s cameras and processor. The project has two components: the mobile app and a web application linked to static cameras. 

Users working in a facility can take pictures of a single leaf of a plant and then upload the image to the cloud, where the AI — which is essentially computer vision AI — compares that picture to hundreds of thousands of pictures and issues diagnostics about the health condition of the plant. The picture is a multispectral image that identifies things like whether the plant requires more or less water or if it has any fungi or diseases that are visible in that image.

The app’s development took roughly six months from beginning to end. From there, we started testing, and some things needed fixing. Currently, Intermedia is working on a second version in which users will be able to capture images with static cameras placed at specific angles in the growing area. I’ve known one of Intermedia’s owners for over 10 years, and we have always kept in contact. I called asking for his advice when my idea of building this app was just a pipedream. Although I thought I was asking for something impossible, he told me his team would be able to develop it.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Intermedia is extremely responsive to user feedback. We're launching another app version and using user suggestions to make it more user-friendly and better overall. Within a week or 10 days, the Intermedia team incorporates user feedback into a usable tool within the technology they're developing. Overall, I'm very happy with how fast they implement changes.

Furthermore, it's one thing to make changes to an existing application, and it's another thing to develop a new section or a new use for the app. So far, there hasn't been anything that Intermedia hasn't been able to add to the service, and I am happy with that. The growers are also happy with how fast we're integrating their recommendations.

How did Intermedia perform from a project management standpoint?

The team stays within the budget and delivers at the agreed-upon time 99% of the time. Although there have been some delays, they've been understandable. For communication, we use Slack and WhatsApp, and we also have Google Meet conferences pretty frequently. Additionally, we use Trello and Github for project management, and the team uses the Agile methodology.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Intermedia is in a unique position; they use very well-trained resources and have very high-quality talent on the team. When I compared providers form the US, Ukraine, Pakistan, and India, Intermedia was among the three least expensive ones and the highest qualified. I would have spent double my budget with another vendor, so Intermedia is highly qualified and has a very reasonable price.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I'm very demanding, so I can always see room for improvement. Although Intermedia is well positioned, it would be helpful if they had more English-speaking team members. I can speak in Spanish, so we have no communication issues. Still, if I were an American company needing Intermedia's services, I would like all team members to speak perfect English, and some of them don't. At the same time, I can't expect that because it's asking too much.

Your project scope has to be very clearly defined. It's very important to negotiate clearly with Intermedia before starting to avoid scope creep, both from your side and theirs. This advice applies to every single supplier.

When the backend was advanced, we started developing the mobile apps for the front end. At the backend side we used Python and a bit of NodeJS. For the AI solution we used Tensorflow. For the mobile apps we used React Native.

The team provided was great. The customer service is perfect as you always get a response from them. After the administrative stuff, the technical staff was: 1 PM, 1 UX-UI, 1 Dev Backend, 1 Artificial Intelligence Expert, 1 React Native developer.

All deadlines were reached without any problem. The milestones were clear and defined together with all the stakeholders. I think that the correct use of Agile methodologies allows Intermedia to meet all deadlines without failures.

The doctors that I’ve talked to like the app, specifically its design and function. We’ve also had bugs, but Intermedia has been able to address them really quickly. Sometimes, the team takes time to find the causes of the bugs, but they always fix them. They take their work very seriously, too. Other than that, we have no metrics to measure their impact. 

How did Intermedia perform from a project management standpoint?

They’ve done very well from a project management standpoint. The team has initially given us a timeline of three months, but they’ve been able to finish the development a month earlier. They’ve also given us an Android Package Kit (APK) in order to test the app, and we’ve been able to share our feedback based on that. We use phone calls, emails, and WhatsApp to communicate.

What did you find most impressive about them?

It’s hard to trust development companies. I’ve had a lot of problems in the past with people that didn’t do the work or didn’t complete it. Intermedia works as they say they will. They also offer advice when you have doubts about which way to go. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

We’ve had some differences but we've been able to talk about them and fix them. There was one person that wasn’t very clear about some issues and it caused some trouble, but that person doesn’t work with them anymore.

Intermedia is trustworthy, so talk to them because you can trust anything they tell you. Overall, I absolutely recommend them.

I'm the head of a software factory responsible for the technological transition of our customers.

For what projects/services did your company hire Intermedia, and what were your goals?

We hired intermedia for the development of a mobile app for our clients. We had the idea. An incredible idea that was going to allow our company to grow. But we hasn’t a team of trained developers for our purpose. Here is where intermedia calls into action. They were able to make since the layout, design and the upload of our app to the play store and app store.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

One of our managers of the technology area of the company knew the company and has contacts there so he recommended us intermedia. We are happy to have been working with them.

We have our database with our valious information, such as documents, books, podcasts and a youtube channel with informational videos. They told us the best way is to make an API to communicate in a secure way with our database and then make the apps (for Android and IOS) and connect them with the API. The best part of this is that in future we can reuse the API to make a page or something more. It 's perfect. They looked at the best way to implement our App.

How many resources from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

We communicated with a sales vendor and he recommended the best option they had. In addition we worked with developers and designers to take the best way of the app. We worked with 10 people from Intermedia.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

Today, three months after launching the app, we have our client happier. They trust more in us. The deliverates were always on time and sometimes they went faster than the estimated time.

We have communication with the development team once per week and they show us the advance of the app development. In addition they suggest better ways to treat the app design. Like I said before, the deliverates were always on time. These two things are very appreciable, more when you have to show advances in the company.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

The most impressive aspect I want to underline is Intermedia's ability to portray our idea in the exact way we think. Also they suggest improvements to the app. That makes our app powerful and helpful.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Until now we can't imagine anything they can do better. They impress us. We can say that we got a good taste.

Oxisur industrial gases is a leading gas sales company in Argentina. The company serves a variety of end markets, including chemicals and refining, food and beverage, electronics, healthcare, manufacturing, and primary metals. I am head of logistics and distribution in the company.

With Intermedia we developed a web&mobile system that would allow us to record the equipments movements of our company, generating efficient indicators to improve our decision-making and allowing us to digitize the entire process. INTERMEDIA captured de requirements, develop it and materialize it in a brilliant way. That is why our entire team is more than grateful and without a doubt we will work with them again on future projects

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We found intermedia looking for software developers through the internet. There we met Guillermo, we met to talk about the project and when he presented the intermediate proposal, his way of working and the fact that they have interpreted our needs perfectly, made us not hesitate to hire them.

The scope was to make a backend in PHP, a rest API to communicate with a web frontend and an Android Kotlin app.

The intervening team was a TL who was also a PM, a back dev, a front dev and a mobile Kotlin dev. A QA and a UX/UI designer

Currently the project is not public since it is for internal use by the company. The feedback is positive since it has been working for months.

We use concepts of agile methodologies. A series of planning and feedback meetings. Slack and Trello for communication and task tracking.

Very good predisposition of the devs. Each member has technical solidity and has fulfilled the full scope in time.

They proposed improvements that we implemented. But in general we were clear about the scope.

The challenge
The challenge our team faced was to modernize and revamp the client's previous platform in a collaborative manner. It required leveraging cutting-edge technologies and implementing best practices to transform their outdated system into a state-of-the-art software solution. The goal was to seamlessly integrate new features and enhanced functionalities while streamlining operations and staying competitive in the market. Transparent communication and agile methodologies were crucial in ensuring a smooth transition and exceeding the client's expectations with an efficient and future-proof software delivery.

The challenge.
Our team faced a long-standing challenge in the market, where the futures market trading process had remained unchanged over time. Participants relied on phone calls and manual communication to record all trades, leading to inefficiencies and limited growth opportunities.
The key challenge was to find a way to evolve the trading process to encourage the use of hedge instruments. In addition, it was to attract a broader user base beyond the agro-industrial sector. The aim was to transform the traditional trading landscape into a more streamlined, accessible and efficient platform. This would increase trading volumes and expand opportunities for diverse users.
The solution.
As a solution, we developed a cutting-edge cloud-based platform that revolutionized decision-making, streamlined trading operations, and reduced costs.

Leveraging mobile technologies and Progressive Web Apps (PWA) in React, along with PHP for backend solutions and a Python-based API, our platform offers an intuitive and seamless user experience.
Our infrastructure, designed by Intermedia's experts, was built on Amazon Web Services, ensuring robustness and sophistication.
For data storage, we utilized MariaDB as the primary database, complemented by MongoDB to support specific aspects of the solution.

Result.
As a result of our efforts, e-Mat's innovative online tool brought about a paradigm shift in agricultural trading. Through intelligent management, real-time monitoring, and user-configurable alerts, users experienced heightened efficiency. The master dashboard enabled easy volume tracking, attracting diverse users and reshaping the trading landscape significantly.
