Labster is a company dedicated to developing fully interactive advanced lab simulations for school and college/university students. We combine these with gamification elements such as an immersive 3D universe, storytelling and a scoring system which stimulates students’ natural curiosity and highlights the connection between science and the real world.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

A very high-quality product functioning overall implies hard work done in QA. The product is being developed in a very dynamic and scalable way so that we can easily pivot from our MVP. The backend developer has worked very hard on it.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Very smooth communication and workflow management. Daily scrums, Sprint planning, use of proper tools ensured that no one was left out of the loop and that the entire team, even remotely distributed, stayed super focused.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

A dedicated project manager/account manager was allocated to us free of cost, even when we never asked. We were always kept updated about the progress very transparently. Even though there were no hiccups, the account manager was always there to support us.

Are there any areas for improvement?

The onboarding can be made smoother, where we can have more communication about the requirements, expectations, etc. Everything else has been perfect and the quality of work is superb.

I am the Co-Founder and CTO of a start-up called Scout (Scout It Now, LLC). Scout partners with employers and employee benefits aggregators as a critical addition to their current wellness and childcare programs, providing employees with a simple way to engage and enrich their kids' lives so they can be more productive at work.

For what projects/services did your company hire AMS LLC, and what were your goals?

We wanted to build an app that would make discovering and managing kids activities as simple as it should be, so parents could focus on other more important things. We needed to work with a company that could take our idea and wireframes drawn on napkins and turn it into a real functioning app for iOS and Android.

How did you select AMS LLC and what were the deciding factors?

We knew we wanted to use Upworks to find the initial development team, and Stan Sakharchuk and his AMS LLC team had very high reviews and great feedback on that site. After interviewing a few different businesses, we knew that AMS LLC would be the best team to work with to help build out our new app.

Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.

We have worked very closely and collaboratively with AMS LLC right from the start. Our project manager kicked our relationship off with a meeting to meet the team and go over our objectives. We worked with their UX team to come up designs for the app, and once the designs were finalized they began app development for iOS, with the Android app to follow after. I believe that the most successful projects are those where the teams check in regularly, and Stan and his team made that easy. We had regular check-ins over zoom and skype, so I always knew where each project was at any given time.

A project manager was the main point of contact. We also interacted with the UX lead to help come up with mobile designs.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

Scout partners with employers and employee benefits aggregators as a critical addition to their current wellness and childcare programs, providing employees with a simple way to engage and enrich their kids' lives so they can be more productive at work. We launched in early July and have started to see a lot of traction in the Boston area. We recently closed deals with two fortune 500 companies with 10s of thousands of employees who have access to the Scout app on both iOS and Android.

Project manager is very involved and gives regular updates to keep everyone updated. I would get regular updates via skype or calls, and we were always in constant communication. Even with the time change, I never felt like it was hard to touch base with the project manager.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

I'm most impressed with how hard working they are. Working in a start-up, things need to move fast. We needed these new apps quickly and AMS LLC delivered on all of that. The quality of their work is great and we have been very happy with everything they have delivered. We currently have an ongoing contract for additional dev work with them and will continue to use them for our development work.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Honestly, I can't think of any. Like with any development project, communication is key. Whenever I had a concern, it was immediately addressed. We are extremely happy with them and have already recommended them to other businesses.

The Beta was built in the space of around 5-6 months. It's very impressive, easy to use, and achieves its primary purpose.

The quality of the product and the speed with which the application was coded were impressive. So was the rapid communication between their team and ours.

Crumb is a mobile app that motivates people to be more active. Users gain points for each natural movement like steps or stairs and can use these points to get special offers in our shop. I am the CEO at Crumb and also overseeing technical implementation.

The goal of the project was to build the first MVP for our company from scratch from the designs that we'd built in a very short time to convince investors for a financial round.

The project was to build the mobile app for http://crumbup.com/ which is a mix of a fitness, finance and eCommerce app. It needed to

1. Connect with health data to record user steps and movement.
2. Reward users with a currency for that movement and keep a track of their balance
3. Have a shop where users can buy product offers with that currency.

We had daily meetings with AMS to discuss the best possible solution and in the end the goal was to set up

2. Analytics of user behaviour from google analytics and bigQuery
3. Swift and Java for mobile app development

We provided the design in adobe XD and that was all that was required from us to give. The rest was all handled by AMS.

What was the team composition?

We were assigned a project manager, an iOS developer, an android developer and a QA and whenever the deadlines was getting tough to meet AMS even added extra developers to make sure that we reach the deadlines.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Within 9 weeks of launch we were able to get 8 thousand users and 300 ratings with an average of 4.7 stars. Almost no bugs with the app and the app looking exactly like the designs that we provided. We ended up with a beautiful product that has a less than 0.5% crash rate and has allowed us to expand in multiple countries. Also due to their experience they were even able to suggest us features that we should add in our app that would make it even better.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

We used Skype and daily standups to maintain communication. People from AMS were always available and were super quick to respond to any issues that we had. Speak great English and we almost never felt that they were working remote due to them being always available.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Their experience in mobile app development is truly remarkable. They're super fast at coming out with new features and building stable apps on technology that can scale very fast. They're also very considerate to changing needs and welcome changes in plans.

Are there any areas for improvement?

We've been overall extremely happy with AMS but more automated testing could have helped us catch bugs even faster.

They developed UI/UX & native iOS and Android versions for the app. They started with SRS for the mobile part of the project, outlining functions, designs & user stories. Then, using Scrum approach with weekly sprints, they started working on the project providing us with weekly updates of the software & were in constant communication with us by providing better approaches to develop new functions - to be honest, we were really excited by their proficiency in mobile development & the quality of the solutions they provided.

We also had the feeling that it wasn't the first time they worked together since they were solving complex issues smoothly & we felt that the mobile part of the project was in good hands at all times.

Well, it was awesome. Together we’ve delivered a full-stack solution on time, our client was very happy and now we are negotiating on 3 new deals of that size since we’ve proved we can deliver complex products at a high level of quality & meeting deadlines. Our business is growing and we're looking forward to future projects with them. 

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

It was impressive. After building SRS we saw a clear sprints structure for weeks to come, tasks that needed to be finished, possible blockers, estimations, etc. At each moment, we clearly knew what the guys are working on and what we would get at the end of next sprint. It was awesome, especially comparing to other agencies we’ve worked with.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Processes & mobile expertise. We really felt like we are working with professionals & don’t even need to do things from our side - no micromanagement, meeting deadlines, clean & clear development process. Mobile expertise, UI/UX & consulting skills are also on a high level - it might be hard for web developers to dive into these things, but when you have someone so experienced onboard you can really build awesome products.

Are there any areas for improvement?

There is always something to improve in any activity. Communication from the web part might be the one when working with these guys, but there were certain issues with providing an accurate API guide from our side too, so I can’t really blame anyone for that. The problem solving is definitely decent here.

At each given moment during the whole development, we knew what is the task developer is working on, what kind of blockers he has & the current milestone completion.

They make plans for every sprint and ask for permission before executing everything. Moreover, they respond fast, know what they’re building, and are involved in the thinking process for the product, not just in doing the work. The product has come out better than I expected, and we would like to work with them going forward.We’ve already made sales with our MVP. It works. The users say the UI looks good, and the user flow is straightforward for them. Interexy has built this in seven weeks, which I really appreciate. We have three users with $25,000 in sales, but we have around 30 more users on the pilot.

We’ve been working with this team on the build of a fairly complex platform in the health and care space, involving multi-sided workflows, compliance considerations, and a high degree of operational nuance. From the outset, they demonstrated a strong ability to understand not just what we were asking for, but why , which is rare. 

They’ve consistently translated high-level concepts into well-structured, scalable technical solutions without overcomplicating the delivery. What’s stood out most is their ability to operate at both a strategic and execution level. They’ve contributed to shaping core product decisions, challenged assumptions where needed, and brought forward better ways of structuring workflows and architecture. 

At the same time, they’ve maintained solid delivery momentum and kept things moving. Communication has been clear and consistent throughout. We’ve had good visibility over progress, risks, and trade-offs, which is critical given the pace we’re operating at. They’re also pragmatic. In a startup environment where priorities shift and not everything is perfectly defined, they’ve adapted quickly without losing sight of the overall system integrity. 

Overall, they feel less like an outsourced development team and more like an extension of our internal product function. What did the vendor do well? Strong product thinking, clear communication, and the ability to handle complex, real-world workflows without unnecessary friction.

The project has delivered clear, tangible progress across both product development and operational readiness. • We successfully moved from early concept to a fully functional, production-ready platform, covering the full case lifecycle from referral through to reporting and billing. 

• Core workflows that were previously manual or fragmented are now structured and systemised, significantly improving consistency and reducing operational overhead. 

• We’ve established a scalable architecture that supports multi-stakeholder use (case managers, providers, and funders), positioning us to onboard new users without reworking the core system. 

• Development velocity has been strong, with regular feature releases and iterative improvements based on live testing and feedback. 

• We’ve reduced reliance on multiple third-party tools by consolidating functionality into a single operating platform, improving visibility and control. 

• The platform is now in a position to support commercial rollout, with key modules (case management, reviews, reporting, and financial tracking) fully operational. 

Beyond the technical delivery, one of the most important outcomes has been clarity. We now have a structured, end-to-end system that reflects how the service actually needs to operate in the real world, which is critical for scaling.

What stood out most was their ability to genuinely think at a product level, not just execute tasks. A lot of development teams will build exactly what you ask for, even when it’s flawed. This team consistently engaged with the underlying problem, challenged assumptions, and helped shape better solutions. That level of ownership is rare. They also have a strong grasp of real-world operational complexity. This wasn’t a simple build, it involved multi-stakeholder workflows, compliance considerations, and edge cases that don’t show up in clean specs. They were able to absorb that complexity quickly and translate it into a system that actually works in practice. Another differentiator is how they balance speed with structure. They move quickly, but not in a way that creates technical debt or short-term thinking. There’s a clear focus on building something scalable and maintainable from the outset. Overall, they don’t operate like a typical outsourced dev team. They think and behave more like an embedded product and engineering function, which has made a significant difference to the quality of the end result.
