IMEA Systems Software Development has become my go-to organization of choice for complex projects.  Please note that I have spent much of my career in global multinational corporations overseeing developers' teams and driving digital transformation.  So, when I say IMEA Systems is the provider of choice, I don't say it lightly.

IMEA worked with a major membership-based association to completely reimagine their digital presence creating an integrated offering that included all facets of the client experience from event regiatration and management to assignment of continuing education credits.  They had to design a holistic digital ecosystem.  This complex project had been undertaken by to other providers previously, and ech of those had given up without delivering results.

We had a successful experience with working with their UI/UX lead on designing the admin tool for our applications.

They are consistently enhancing and rigorously testing the comprehensiveness of the solutions we aim to implement. At times, issues surfaced during testing, but all bugs are fixed before the hand-over to the final user.

What were your goals for this project?

Several goals, the main one being a light & fast dashboard allowing authenticated use of processed data saved in a PostgresDB, accessible through an API and a React Dashboard.

How did you select this vendor?

We have known the IMEA leadership on a personal level. For this project however we did approach several vendors for pricing and timeline. IMEA had the best presented plan and pricing.

Three parts.

1. Data gathering, clean up, and insertion to DB.
2. Wrapper API on the DB giving CRUD access.
3. React dashboard with maps and search features.

What was the team composition?

As with the parts above, three individuals doing three different things.

1. Data scraper and insertion person.
2. NodeJs developer making the wrapper API providing the CRUD capabilities to the DB. and an authentications service working with our current ACL.
3. React frontend developer using the Evergreen framework.

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

The project was needed for an industry conference in early August. So the ability to use it was very much so important for our business. At the conference our partners found great value in the dashboard and the information it provided. The dashboard still has daily usage and we believe it will continue to increase in use.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

We handled the management through the use of Basecamp. Code resided on our GitHub and everything went through a PR review cycle.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Their ability to deliver on time was impressive.

Are there any areas for improvement?

Cultural sensitivity to American startups. I know this is a lot to ask, but I think teams are most effective when they are well aware of the culture of which the client is from.

The team is composed of 2 back-end developers, 2 front-end developers, 1 designer, and 1 project manager. We are able to bring in more resources/help as needed based on our requirements and sprints.

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

We have multiple clients struggling to solve for real-world problems in their business function. Therefore, this software and IMEA Systems together provide us with the support and resources we need to address all client needs by coming to the table with architected solutions that we could easily implement to our clients.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

We had a project manager who followed all the tasks and used JIRA to keep track of everything that was needed for our sprints. For full-fledged features that needed to be rolled out, our project manager followed closely and held weekly calls to make sure that we were on schedule for all our releases.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

They were willing to take on multiple challenges that would be difficult for any other team. They really spent the time to analyze all our requests and the client requests to make sure they addressed what was needed from them and the expectations from and our clients.

Are there any areas for improvement?

I think that they're a great team and there isn't much room for improvement. They could possibly get themselves out there more—into multiple industries, so they have better experience working with different potential clients. But as they work with us and other clients, I think that experience will really fill that gap as they learn very quickly!
