I’m the director of Taxeezy Limited, an online tax filing and tax compliance platform. We make personal tax compliance simpler and more accessible by allowing individuals to provide their information digitally and have their tax compliance dealt with through an online platform.

We needed help developing our online tax compliance platform.

What was the scope of their involvement?

iDevNerds has handled the end-to-end development of our digital platform. The team has built the platform from scratch as a bespoke solution designed around our specific requirements and client journey. Some of the strongest technical features include dynamic digital tax return forms, digital replication of the SA100 tax return, secure document upload and management, integrated payment processing, ID verification, and automated client nudges. 

iDevNerds has also developed a comprehensive admin portal that allows our team to manage clients, submissions, and services from one place, alongside integrated client messaging and real-time chat functionality.iDevNerds continues to build new services and more complex functionality, including our Making Tax Digital solution. The team has integrated Stripe for secure payment processing and Algolia, which provides the search functionality within the chat and messaging system.

iDevNerds was referred to me. We chose them because their pricing fit our budget, they offered good value for the cost, and their company values aligned with ours.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with iDevNerds in April 2022, and our engagement is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

iDevNerds has brought significant value to our company by taking our initial concept and turning it into a fully functioning digital tax platform. Their development work has enabled us to streamline processes, improve the client experience, automate key parts of our service, and build a platform that can continue to grow alongside our business.

The biggest measurable outcome has been our ability to move Taxeezy from a largely manual tax service into a scalable digital platform. We can now onboard clients online, collect tax information through digital forms, receive and manage documents, take payments, verify identities, and communicate with clients through one platform. This has significantly reduced manual administration and allowed our team to manage a much larger volume of clients and tax submissions more efficiently.

We estimate that our client volume has increased by approximately 20% since developing and launching the platform. More importantly, the technology has allowed us to accommodate this growth efficiently without requiring the same proportionate increase in administrative resources. The streamlined digital processes mean our team can manage a higher volume of work.

For example, the turnaround time for a standard tax return used to take around a week to move through the various stages of collecting information, reviewing documents, and preparing the return. Now, we can prepare many straightforward tax returns within one working day, and in some cases, even faster when all the information is available. This has allowed us to process a significantly higher volume of returns with fewer administrative resources, particularly during our busiest periods.

We can also continually launch new services, including Making Tax Digital, without having to rebuild the underlying system. The technology developed by iDevNerds has become the core infrastructure through which we operate and continue to grow.

How did iDevNerds perform from a project management standpoint?

Overall, iDevNerds has managed the project very well. I would estimate that around 90% of the agreed-upon deliverables have been completed within the expected timelines. We communicate via virtual meetings, emails, and messaging apps.

What did you find most impressive about them?

What has impressed us most about iDevNerds is their ability to understand our requirements, including the more complex aspects of our platform, and translate them into practical solutions. Their team has always been helpful, responsive, and proactive, particularly when it comes to managing timelines, resolving issues, and answering queries. We also value their willingness to listen, understand how our business operates, and suggest solutions rather than simply following instructions.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Overall, our experience has been very positive. If there’s one area for improvement, it would be having more structured documentation and regular written updates as new features are developed and implemented.

The team built out a web and react-native based solution for Stripe's Connect marketplace payments solution as well as subscriptions. They provided full API integration with Stripe and our web and mobile clients. They did excellent. They provided great documentation and communication.
