I'm the director of an educational mobile application that aims to make parents' and teachers' lives easier regarding homework and complement their children's education. The app has user-friendly tests and worksheets.

What challenge were you trying to address with Idea Box?

We needed support developing our mobile app.

What was the scope of their involvement?

I provided Idea Box with initial documentation to jumpstart the process, and the team created a development plan and the application's flow. We met with Adam (Managing Director) and had a few workshops to ensure we were on the same page. The team sent the app's designs and flow, sharing the different screens for me to approve. Then, Idea Box created an admin website where I could enter the data required for the app. 

I worked back and forth with Idea Box's developers to ensure I was happy with the process and that the work aligned with my requirements. Idea Box completed the design phase and delivered an app for iOS and Android.

What is the team composition?

We mainly worked with five teammates from Idea Box, including Adam. 

How did you come to work with Idea Box?

We found Idea Box through an online search. We had meetings with different companies, and Adam seemed the most genuine. He had a wealth of knowledge and experience developing educational apps and provided feedback in the initial meeting. The team told us exactly how the process would run and briefed us on what we wanted, proposing strategy proposals to achieve our target.
How much have you invested with them?

We spent around $250,000 AUD (approximately $167,000 USD).

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with Idea Box at the beginning of 2021, and the team took six months to develop the app. 

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Idea Box beat my expectations and delivered excellent work. Idea Box explained concepts and proposed ideas that helped me a lot. The design process was good, and Adam helped me through every stage of the process since I didn't have experience developing an app. 

How did Idea Box perform from a project management standpoint?

Idea Box delivered the app within the estimated timeframe, and we communicated through Slack. The team was quick to respond to my queries and made the process easy.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Idea Box provided clear expectations since the beginning of our engagement, and we didn't encounter hidden costs. The team delivered exactly what they committed to.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I can't think of anything Idea Box could improve — they did a fantastic job.

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

If you're based in Australia, having a professional from Australia leading the development team is easier. With other service providers I've worked with, I found language barriers that hindered how my ideas got across. Having an Australian teammate leading the team made the process a lot easier, and I suggest Australian customers choose Idea Box for this reason.

Project was delivered on time with a professional/friendly interaction.

Management style was efficient, consisting of personal meeting, emails, phone calls and interactive program to assist with the project. Timeline was met.

Attention to detail, expertise in their field and friendly communication to help move the project to the best of its ability.

No, our expectations were met.
