We’re transitioning our focus so we needed to upgrade the quality of our website and change our messaging.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Hooked On Code provided us with their branding, web design, and web development services. We started with the development of the logo and after finalizing the look, we had an initial review of a couple of pages on the website.

They developed the platform on WordPress and presented us with the mockups they designed for PowerPoint — they even adjusted our schedule for the final review.

My main point of contact was Torre (Owner & Creative Director), and I also worked with an external vendor for the logo design.

I was referred to Hooked On Code by a colleague of mine, so I had an intr meeting with Torre.

We worked together from August–November 2021.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The traffic has improved compared to the previous website, and the insight we’ve received from external stakeholders has been excellent. Transitioning to the new site was seamless due to Torre and the team's process and professionalism.

How did Hooked On Code perform from a project management standpoint?

Their project management was excellent. Hooked On Code was flexible and kept our project on track, so we didn’t experience any issues. We typically communicated via email and Zoom.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I like the fact that I was in professional hands. The project turned out extremely well because I trusted all their design recommendations and technical expertise. I would also like to bring up that we were impressed with Torre and the team always turning in deliverables as promised.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I suggested to include an additional week in the schedule to review the website before going live with the product — which we did without additional costs.

I would advise coming fully prepared with your ideas because Hooked on Code can execute brilliantly and quickly.

We changed our business model, and we needed a new website that specifically allowed our affiliates to subscribe to our intellectual property.

What was the scope of their involvement?

We initially had a discovery phase with Hooked On Code. We relayed our project requirements to their team and provided them with our new business model and the documents they needed to launch the development process. 

They incorporated specific functionalities to enable paid subscriptions through our website and accessed the Dropbox link to our intellectual property, which they deployed in the website. Hooked On Code also helped us design the platform based on our branding and backend needs.

The owner of our company was acquainted with Torre. He initially referred her team to help us with minor website work, and we then engaged Hooked On Code to handle this development project.

The development project ran from January–February 2021.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We easily secured 29 subscribers through Hooked On Code’s efforts and had nothing but rave reviews from our affiliates, who particularly liked the website’s accessible features. Overall, we couldn’t thank their team enough for all the success they brought to our organization.

How did Hooked On Code perform from a project management standpoint?

We mainly communicated via Zoom meetings and occasionally exchanged emails and text messages. Hooked On Code had phenomenal project management skills that helped streamline the entire project. They were also highly responsive — their members addressed our concerns quickly and made adjustments at the most convenient time possible.

What did you find most impressive about them?

We were most impressed with their capacity to independently come up with innovative solutions — we didn’t have any marketing background, and they willingly took over by generating an accessible and fast-loading platform that addressed our affiliates’ exact needs.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I couldn’t point out anything constructive about their work.

Explain your needs clearly — don’t be intimidated to open up about the design concepts you want to explore.

We had a challenge that we had used a website template that was no longer supported in the latest Wordpress update and our website could be compromised at any given moment. We needed a new design that would stand the test of time and well as be captivating and engaging.

They are a small boutique firm that takes the time to know our wants, desires, and needs. Then, they deliver in a timely and affordable manner. Plus, they are extremely fun to work with.

They listened to what we were looking for. Came up with a custom design. Made changes along the way. Ensure we provided all the content we needed to so we could successfully launch our new website. Worked out any issues once it was LIVE and taught us how to maintain it ourselves.

St. Francis of Assisi is a Roman Catholic Church in the Diocese of Fort Worth. I served as the coordinator of digital media and communications at the Church from March 2015 - October 2020.

We hired Hooked On Code to lead an entire website redesign for the Church. Our goals were to create a robust site that would be visually impactful, easily navigable and would meet our mission needs for the Church.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

Hooked on Code was referred by another employee of the Church. We met with Torre, and after considering some other vendors along with the prior vendor experience, we felt confident proceeding with Hooked on Code for the project.

They are local, had the skills to create what we needed, used a user-friendy and well-supported CMS, had an extremely reasonable rate, had previous client projects in our non-profit space, and offered continued support.

We had a kick-off and brainstorm meeting, then Torre's team came up with an initial design, then we held weekly review meetings as we finished up the design elements. Then our team assisted with the content migration and we launched! Hooked on Code continues to provide ongoing support for the website.

Torre was the project manager and Gale (and a few other admins) have assisted with ongoing support.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

We were extremely happy with the design outcome and have seen great results, including other Catholic Churches from around the US reach out regarding the design/content.

Torre and team were extremely timely. They communicate great and have always been able to help us with any support needs that arise. A few years ago they switched to a ticketing system which helped to streamline resolution of issues.

We love that it is a woman-owned business and that their prices are so reasonable for a nonprofit like us.

No, we were extremely satisfied.

I am Global Senior Marketing Manager for SGS. The division I work in provides testing, certification and training services to the cosmetic and hygiene industry.

We initially hired HOC in 2017 to redo our website. it was very hard to navigate and update and the design was not attractive. Since then they help maintain our website each month. In 2020 they redesigned our website again since we were acquired by another company. It was quite an undertaking as we had to add many other features to our website and update it with the new brand guidelines.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We decided to work with HOC because they were very responsive, listened to our problems and what we wanted, and had excellent ideas. Our business is difficult for most people to pick up on but they understood it right away. I was really impressed!

For each project we went through a discovery call, they came back with the timelines and pricing. We would have follow up calls frequently to discuss the progress. Any changes we wanted made, were made right there on the call, so things moved very quickly.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

For us the most important thing was for panelists to be able to find the studies and apply easily. We had so many panelists applying through the website that it achieved our goals.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Communication was excellent! Anytime they needed something they sent an email or anytime we needed something, they would get back to us right away.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

What I find most unique is that they listen to what the client wants, not what they want to do, they are excellent at problem solving and they really want the client to have the ability to edit the website themselves and not rely on them to do everything. Again, they also understood our business, which is not easy.

For what projects/services did your company hire Hooked on Code, and what were your goals?

When I started working with Hooked on Code over two years ago, we were in a bad situation. Our previous web agency turned an 8-week website build into a 6-month ordeal. The relationship with that agency also wasn't easy or productive. It was almost impossible to edit our site and difficult to post new content. We started with Hooked On Code on a monthly Care Plan because we needed immediate fixes and updates, and then went through a larger rebuild project with them.

It's a game changer to have the ability to make edits and post new content ourselves. Over the past year our web projects have been much simpler thanks to Hooked On Code's new site build. We have continued our monthly Care Plan which works well for our business.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

I selected Hooked on Code because Torre, the owner, address all my concerns in a very understandable way. I also liked how she discussed her pricing. The project wasn't budgeted so the amount felt high but the way she discussed pricing showed me the value. Once the project was complete. I felt like they undercharged me. Simply incredible work.

The first project was rebuilding our entire site on WordPress. The second is our ongoing website maintenance. Although the site was designed so I can update it easily myself, it's not the best use of my time so Hooked on Code helps me with those tasks.

I worked with the owner and several developers through their ticketing tool which makes every thing so simple. I have work with several different people at the agency on different projects. They are all friendly, educated, and thoughtful.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

Over the last 3+ years they have improved our SEO, increased our site speed, and kept our site working well.

When we have an update to the site, we simply put in a ticket, get an estimated date of completion, then it's completed on time. I personally think their ticket system makes working together even easier. I can upload images, share links, and have conversations all in one area.

Hooked on Code does what they say they are going to do. They meet every expectation from communication to task complete timeline. They also all hold themselves to very high standards without any direction from me. They want to be the best of the best in everything they do.
