Heksadev

BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the digital solutions lead at Subsea7, an offshore engineering and construction services company. We support lower-carbon oil and gas operations and the development of renewable and emerging energy projects.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Heksadev?

We needed help designing, building, and supporting two enterprise applications for tendering and executing projects, as well as planning and allocating resources across the globe.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Heksadev has been responsible for solution architecture, database design, .NET Core, MS SQL, and Azure full stack development with Kendo UI. The team has also designed and implemented the core planning modules, including demand capture for upcoming offshore campaigns, capacity forecasting across multiple regions and project pipelines, and HR allocation matching resource availability and skills to projects. This process also includes integrating third-party systems, PDFs, and Excel exports.

Moreover, Heksadev has optimized stored procedures and parallel processing for large datasets. The team has also provided continuous maintenance and new feature development as our users’ needs have evolved. Overall, Heksadev has worked on the entire system from start to finish.

What is the team composition?

We’ve worked with 2–5 teammates from Heksadev.

How did you come to work with Heksadev?

Heksadev was referred to me through an agency called Q.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with Heksadev in October 2020, and our engagement is ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Heksadev’s work has resulted in massive automation of previously manual business processes, standardized data, and streamlined activities internally. The team has also optimized workforce utilization and reused previous work. Moreover, we’ve received extremely positive feedback from users who desperately wanted to get away from Excel spreadsheets. Now, people no longer need to manually consolidate data from 40 different spreadsheets in different formats to get an overview; they can now click a button to get it instantly.

How did Heksadev perform from a project management standpoint?

Heksadev’s project management is excellent. The team is easy to work with and thoughtful. Moreover, Heksadev challenges us to create a better solution, not just build what we think we need. Regarding communication, we use virtual meetings, emails, and messaging apps.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Heksadev’s approachability, professionalism, and delivery are impressive.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I don’t think there’s anything they can improve on. All the challenges we’ve faced in our project have been of our own making internally and don’t reflect on the excellent work done by Heksadev.
