Headscape was tasked with making a new school website. Their dilverables included focus group documentation and the final designs. The focus group documentation was detailed and the design elements were extensive.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

There were miletones for collecting feedback and running focus groups. There was also feedback on the eventual designs which was measurable.

We tested the UX / designs internally and gave feedback to headscape.

The design work was itterative as was completed on schedule.

They used github to track issues and design progress. The process was smooth. They are responsive, positive, and polite. The deliverables were on time.

Headscape was attentive and timely with their support.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

The methods they used to gather feedback and establish a foundation for their designs were impressive. It was also great to see their focus on accessibility. Their approach to reusable design is proving effective in practice. We’re actively using the elements they created, which makes it easy to add functionality that fits the overall design without introducing design creep.

Are there any areas for improvement or something Headscape could have done differently?

We had great conversations regarding UX and user expectations. Headscape understands industry standards and helped us work though some internal expectations we have here. This helped us plan on what items to migrate to something more standard and what items aquiese internally. I valued the feedback but also felt I had to explain in detail why the issues were important for a constructive conversation to occur.

Headscape was to design and develop a complete website for the recruitment of employees to our firm. They designed and built the website from the ground up, including front and back end development. Deliverables included the website itself, and all documentation and training materials to keep it running smoothly, as well as regular mantenance and security patching. They also maintain a long-term contract for additional development as needed.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

They delivered an excellent website that met or exceeded the brief in all ways. The website has been in use for more than two years and has been both successful and stable. We continue to work with Headscape on incremental imrpovements.

Items were delivered on time and communication was very strong - we always knew where the project stodd, where the action items lived, and who was responsible for next steps. They managed the project through GitHub, which was very effective for us. Despite a substantial time difference, they were always responsive to our needs in a timely fashion.

They are gifted at explaining what they do to people who are not as knowledgeable about the tech side of things, and are excellent about seeing the reality of the business needs and adjusting the tech to them - instead  of expecting the needs to adjust to the tech.

No. We were very pleased with their work and our working relationship.

• Delivering Sense's Activity Finder by the winter of 2022.
• The Activirty Finder being built accessible from the start.

Project managment style:

• Care over the discovery phase of the project - took time to find out what we wanted and needed.
• Utilised GitHub to keep track of all aspects of the project.
• Weekly catch up meetings to keep the project on track.
• Technical areas of the project were broken down and explained clearly.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

What I found most impressive about Headscape was their appetite for learning more about the people Sense serves and in particular website accessibility.

HeadScape did this by attending a call with one of Sense's deafblind colleagues who demonstrated how he navigates websites using his screen reader and braille bar, which is attached to his laptop.

Are there any areas for improvement or something Headscape could have done differently?

Something HeadScape could do differently is push back on timelines that could be perceived as unrealistic, to give as much time to discovery as possible. HeadScape did very well considering the constraints Sense added to the project, mainly the timescales for delivery and accessibility.

We transitioned our firm website from Drupal to Wordpress, updating the design and user journey.

The primary deliverable was the creation of the new website on a different platform than the one we'd been using for several years. We began the development of the updated site and launched in late August with great reception and very little issue.

The Headscape team assigned to our project was engaged, thoughtful, and productive. They listened to our vision and priorities and worked closely with us to ensure a clear understanding of the scope and desired output. We connected frequently to assess progress, seek clarification, and make key decisions on direction and adaptations when that was needed. It was a true partnership from start to finish.

Headscape has strong PM skills and devoted a PM to the project who kept things running smoothly and in a manner (via Basecamp, Figma, Miro, and GitHub) that allowed us to stay informed and on track every step of the way.

Website projects are lengthy and have many moving parts and risks of failure. What I loved about Headscape was their decades of experience and their ability to see every project with fresh eyes. You aren't getting a cookie cutter result. They deeply understand your goals and your culture to make sure they deliver a successful outcome. More than anything I love how delightful they are to work with. The nicest people you'll ever meet.

 We wanted a complete rebuild of our website to reflect a recent rebrand.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Headscape rebuilt our website with increased functionality and a better design. The team provided a more advanced search function, reflecting our new branding and allowing users to browse by topic. We can also now highlight past events that have recordings and link directly to reports.

We worked with three teammates from Headscape.

We’ve been working with Headscape for a decade. We have a long-term working relationship with well-established trust and understanding.

 We worked with Headscape in May to August 2025

 Headscape has successfully built a new, more modern, and more functional website. We don’t have specific metrics yet.

I’m the marketing officer for Field Studies Council, an environmental education charity that offers field trips, courses, and hands-on learning experiences to help people of all ages discover and explore the natural world.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Headscape?

We hired Headscape to build our new website.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Headscape handled the complete website project, including scoping, design, implementing an e-commerce system, and integrating with our booking system. Initially, we worked with them for about a year, but we’ve continued to work with them on other projects and for ongoing support.

Their process was extremely hands-on, with in-person workshops followed by regular support meetings. We needed to be sure that we were supported in all aspects, from look and feel to functionality, and they were able to deliver on this within budget.

Since the initial website build, we’ve implemented many complicated changes. We’ve needed to change how parts of the website work, including adding extra layers within e-commerce, navigation, subscriptions, and introducing VAT. Their contribution is always expert knowledge of what is possible and how to implement it on our website.

They’ve done research and have an understanding of web technologies that we don’t have in our in-house team, so they’ve been essential to the continued development of the website to deliver the new products required by our organization.

What is the team composition?

Initially, we worked with five teammates from Headscape, but we now regularly work with three of them.

How did you come to work with Headscape?

Someone else chose them, but I know they were chosen for the clarity of their brief and their value for money.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in 2018, and the initial project was completed in 2019. However, we’ve continued working with them.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Since launching the website, we’ve seen an increase in e-commerce sales and inquiries.

We’re reliant on Headscape’s expertise to deliver any web changes. We have a strong working relationship and trust their advice. They’re always careful to ensure that their input is reliable.

How did Headscape perform from a project management standpoint?

They were very attentive and delivered on time. Their quick response and experience meant that we were able to deliver the project to a tight deadline.

Communication was a strong point within our working relationship. We had various ways to discuss projects, including email, regular meetings, Slack, and message boards. We were able to keep in touch consistently but also had ways to urgently request help when necessary. Knowing we had the ability to request a quick response reassured our team.

What did you find most impressive or unique about them?

We were impressed by their response time and understanding of the website. The continued expert support allowed us to find solutions and move forward quickly.

Having Headscape involved was very much like having another member of our team, as they understood the website well and brought a wealth of knowledge to our team.
