Tailors Point is a customized retail clothing brand wherein we offer tailored fit apparels for both men and women. I am the Head Project manager and part of the core Administration and Management team.

We work with the luxury segment in tailoring and apparel industry, each of our outfits are custom made to the measurements of our clients, so it is of utmost importance to us that we manufacture the perfect quality and fit down to the last quarter of centimeter.

To achieve this result the outfit goes through a set of trials and fittings that are taken care by a team of masters who have decades of experience in sartorial elegance and garment manufacturing, It is as much of an art as it is technical, Our primary concern for years have been that because of the steep hurdles and learning curves not everyone picks up this profession, it is a challenging job with a lot of responsibilities, a slight mismanagement at this stage can make the entire deal all through.

Since young blood won't enter this profession we have been scared for many years now of how to tackle this particular challenge, we wanted F(x) data labs to come up with an AI software that can make us a software that could try and join the force of these masters.

To circumvent the mobility and scarcity factors of masters in today's day and age we believe we can feed our decades worth of tailoring insight in clear mathematical terms to a system, If the system is then able to process pictorial data or bitmaps and then pull out the correct response for the problem and the degree of it on field we might just digitize an entire segment of an age old profession and bring convenience to the firm.

The aim is to make a software or platform that can take in pictures and suggest alterations (if needed) and in what proportions on the spot. The learning/inputs and data will be provided by the firm. The software is expected to work as an app on the phone (if possible) or a web portal. For easy access while on mobile locations and across the stores effortlessly.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

Lesser human intervention will lead to lesser errors while taking measurements and reduce alteration time. The software solved a multitude of our problems with the access of decades worth of skill on our finger tips, we are no longer geographically constrained and the cost of finding and training masters have also gone down substantially. We were also able to take care of more clients in a given period of time.

The team is very professional and has out of the box thinking while proposing newer solutions, They helped me carve out logical, practical roadmaps out of our fantasy project. This grounding helped us to get everything we wanted out of the software. They were also very prompt and timely on their communication, often times they reached us before the agreed timeline and cut our expected time to almost half.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

They are proactive and always ready to take feedback. Their time management as previously stated impressed us a lot too. But the most unique prospect of all was that we gave them the problem in the form of a story and they made a logical, functional software to help us with. We weren't very sound with the software world and we didn't know how things would work but Mrs. Kavita and her team really explained every detail to us with great patience!

They accomplished the main task of the project. I’m not a very technical person, but they made sure I understood everything they were doing. There were no set KPIs, but everything I wanted was delivered and more.

We mostly communicated through Skype and Slack. We had a weekly call with the team to discuss the project. In addition, they kept track of all of the tasks on Jira. 

They also delivered before the deadline.

They’re very good at communicating, and they’re detail-oriented. There were times where I wasn’t sure what I needed or didn’t know how to solve a problem, but they were always able to help me work through it. Their guidance made a big difference.

Not from my perspective. They were very committed to the work and were always transparent about what was going on.

We’ve done multiple projects with F(x) Data Labs. One of the projects involved scraping data to do with statistics on solar installations off an Australian government website, making sense of that data, and putting the data onto a Google dashboard.

Another project that they're working on is to do with DevOps. They’re working on the set up of our servers and the architecture of our systems. Then lastly, they're going to work on a machine learning project.

It only takes 1–2 conversations with F(x) Data Labs to get the job done. We know that we’ll get what we need with less effort. There’s always a lot of back and forth with other development companies where it takes 5–6 conversations. 

How did F(x) Data Labs perform from a project management standpoint?

We don’t give them hard deadlines, but their communication is really good. We’re always in contact with Jeni, and she updates us on a regular basis. I never have to worry about going back to the team about not receiving anything because I can count on Jeni to get back to me. 

We originally communicated through email, but now we’re just using Slack. Every time we need to discuss something, we jump onto a Zoom call. They are very reliable, and we don’t have to micromanage them.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their communication is great. Everyone on their team speaks English amazingly, which is a big plus, and everyone has expertise in the product. We have confidence in their abilities and skills. Additionally, they almost always deliver everything on time. If there are delays, Jeni is always on top of letting us know.

The completion of our software means we are now the first Caribbean outdoor advertising business to offer data analytics results for campaigns. It also puts us in a position to sell this valuable service to all industry players in Jamaica and the wider Caribbean market.

Hemen went above and beyond expectations to see this project through. He was very patient to took the time to truly understand what it was that we needed to ensure he captured all relevant information. He was very communicative throughout the projects entirety and managed his time efficiently to produce results on schedule.

Managing clients across the continent can never be easy and they were able to produce results efficiently and effectively. I was even more impressed with Hemen’s willingness and commitment to learn no coding applications to facilitate the success of this project and did so without questioning abilities.
