What challenge were you trying to address with Fullsend Solutions Inc.?

We needed to create software that fused together many new modalities in a web browser. We aimed to build a new music creation system and combine music tools with 3D interactions, like webcam and video capture. We needed to build a complex product and test and validate our ideas quickly. 

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We had a previous MVP that we had built, but it was an old product that wasn't optimized and needed to be updated. We asked Fullsend Solutions Inc. to re-architect that product so we could bring a lot of the old infrastructure into the new infrastructure to be instrumented for proper data and attribution. Our product required a combination of Web3 and AI technologies and the use of three.js libraries and WebGL. 

Our previous product consisted of various MVPs and mini-apps. We migrated over to a new infrastructure where we could instrument and act, get data, and build several MVPs quickly. Fullsend Solutions Inc. built 3–4 different MVPs and iterated the product in a given direction. 

Fullsend Solutions Inc. initially worked on migration and then developed various features, delivering a web-based music creation tool that combined multiple technologies, including VR Models and a real-time music engine that users could play with in a 3D environment. We continue iterating the product to find a cohesive creation suite that offers an immersive and interactive performance.

I work with 4–5 teammates from Fullsend Solutions Inc., including 1–2 developers and 1–2 project managers.

Fullsend Solutions Inc. was recommended by a developer from our in-house team who had previously worked with them. Fullsend Solutions Inc. seemed like a good team, although they didn't have Web3 experience, which was one of the challenges of working with them. However, we trusted the team's guidance and our lead engineer, who recommended them.

We spent about $200,000–$300,000 on this project.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Fullsend Solutions Inc.'s team was very good and had good developers. The team understood our needs quickly and were good team players. Fullsend Solutions Inc. was a good and transparent team that delivered our required features, and I'm iterating some specific features. 

Overall, the team delivered high-level development, and our software is still at an MVP stage, where we're trying to find a product market fit. We can't commit too much to a single stack or solution because we might change them. Nonetheless, Fullsend Solutions Inc. fulfilled our needed goals for this project in the required time span. 

How did Fullsend Solutions Inc. perform from a project management standpoint?

Fullsend Solutions Inc. worked quickly. We had very tight timeframes to launch the projects, and the team exceeded expectations. We had our dream scenario within the required timeframe. We collaborated through Jira and other Atlassian products to document user stories. Our communication was effective through Slack and project management tools. 
Are there any employees from the service provider's team that you would like to give a shout-out to in this review?

Eli (Senior Software Developer) took the spotlight in development and had a good connection with the product because he also created music. He was interested in the tool we were trying to build, which combined music with other forms of expression, including live visuals. Eli was very passionate and took on the project quickly. He developed things quickly and had a nuanced understanding of the product needs. 

Eli stood out as a top-tier developer because he solved problems quickly and built the product's framework.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Fullsend Solutions Inc. focused on understanding their client's problems and challenges and tried getting into that headspace. We saw that clearly with the team that was brought into the project. Fullsend Solutions Inc. was a great cultural fit and had strong developers who quickly started building and iterating our product. 

We talked to other companies that wanted to spend more time documenting and iterating our product, which was understandable, but as a startup, we needed a team that was flexible and understood the context of our product journey. Fullsend Solutions Inc. took all this into account and was very understanding. We had a good relationship on all fronts.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I can't think of anything Fullsend Solutions Inc. could improve on.

I suggest having a clear idea of your project scope and expectations for the product you're trying to build. You must understand if your product is realistic because there are many development companies, but you must have clear expectations.

Fullsend Solutions Inc.'s performance was outstanding throughout this project.

We set weekly milestones and had an overarching objective to debut our application by September 1st, a target which Fullsend met with precision. This structured approach, with regular deadlines, was instrumental in maintaining momentum and ensuring that each phase of the development was completed on time, ultimately leading to the successful launch of the app within our planned schedule.

Fullsend Solutions Inc. helped us build an iOS and Android application using React Native. Their team supported our internal team; we handled backend development and QA. We also had our own marketing and product staff, as well as an in-house design team. Fullsend Solutions Inc. developed the app’s frontend from scratch; the backend was prepopulated. They also provided consultative feedback about best practices.

The app was a social app for food lovers with social capabilities embedded into our platform; its core features included video and photo posting, commenting, liking, and following. They also implemented geotagging, location-based feeds, and capabilities enabling users to search for other users and update the size of image or video files.

Dick (Co-Founder) was our account manager. There was also a frontend developer and a teammate responsible for analytics and data collection; they were like a product manager.

With the help of Fullsend Solutions Inc., we scaled our company to 800 cities globally. We’ve had numerous press mentions throughout the lifecycle of our company, but it was about the product rather than the development work.

How did the company perform from a project management standpoint?

Working with Fullsend Solutions Inc. was a great experience. They did a wonderful job examining the scope and being honest about where we could accelerate the project and where it might take longer. We communicated via Slack and Google Meet. We also used Asana.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Fullsend Solutions Inc.’s founders and engineering team were based in the US, which reduces issues related to time zone differences and language barriers. The founders were hands-on; they understood deadlines, scopes of work, and what’s realistic because they were developers as well. They could provide solutions from a developer perspective to their developer team. This set them apart from other agencies.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, they operated to the best of their ability.

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

You should be clear about what you want. Fullsend Solutions Inc. can still help you build out your idea. However, like with any engagement in technology, it’s hard to get additional support if you don’t know what you want; it’s like asking someone to build a house without a blueprint. Ultimately, you should provide a roadmap to success because Fullsend Solutions Inc. is the vehicle to get there.

• We relied on Fullsend to be the technology experts to help us delivery a an SDK in each iOS and Android to integrate with our partners. The key indicators of success were quality and time. As we are an engineering organization, we had a strong understanding of what we wanted but lacked the specific skillset to build it. Fullsend was able to take our technical documentation and call out what was not native centric and advise us how to adapt our approach, while always keeping our customers first and foremost. They performed an excellently keeping balanced our needs, our partners perspectives, and their technical expertise.

Fullsend delivered every milestone on time or ahead of schedule. The project was managed by our Engineering manager following a loose kanban model giving large latitude to Fullsend engineers to deliver items in the size and order that they felt appropriate. This allowed Fullsend to focus the engineering, while we focussed on the planning. We communicated frequently over slack, and jumped on calls when needed, either between them and our engineers, or also including our partner engineers, where they communicated clearly and effectively.

Along the way, the team at Fullsend provided technical consulting and acted as a sales engineer, all while seamlessly integrating with our entire team.
