**The Review** — May 23, 2022

**Feedback Summary**: The results of the client's engagement with Fueled exceeded their expectations; their purchase funnel and app retention rate significantly improved. In addition, 94% of their ratings are five stars, which exceeded the goal they set for the app. Furthermore, they had a proactive approach to CRM.
""They are super communicative and easy to work with.""

**BACKGROUND**
Please describe your company and your position there.

I am the Director of Product Management for a health and wellness brand that makes organic plant based meals for delivery.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
For what projects/services did your company hire Fueled, and what were your goals?

We did not have an app and, considering the size of our business and the ask from customers, this was a big gap in our portfolio. We viewed app as a retention play and came in with goals around % of customer base using the app, improving retention rates on weekly subscription, and customer satisfaction (in the form of 90% of ratings were 5 star)

**SOLUTION**
How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We needed a vendor that focused on understanding, not only our business, but our customers as well. We're not a standard subscription service and there are many intricacies that go into our delivery. We spoke to several other vendors but Fueled stood out above the rest.

Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.

At the end of the day, our goal was to launch an iOS app that focused on the meal management component of our business and also allowed our customers to purchase additional products.

How many resources from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

We had:

1 Project Manager
	1 Product Manager
	2 Developers
	1 QA
	1 UX

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

Do not think I can share specifics, but we exceeded our expectations - including improvements in the purchase funnel as well as retention rate of those on our app. Additionally, in the store, you can see that 94% of our ratings are 5 star, which exceeds the stretch goal we set for ourselves.

Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.

Excellent. We communicated frequently via regularly scheduled meetings, Slack, and email. They always responded in a timely manner (usually faster than expected) and there were never any surprises as we were constantly talking about progress, deliverables, etc.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

They are super communicative and easy to work with. They felt like part of the team... invested in our business and our growth (not a service provider). They went above and beyond when it came to making sure we nailed the meal management experience as they knew that it was the most crucial piece to make sure our app is a success.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Honestly, nothing comes to mind. I would work with them again in a heartbeat

""They had the right people with the right skills and knowledge to accomplish the project.""

Introduce your business and what you do there.

We were looking to develop a native mobile app that would enable people to search for events to compete in, and better represent our competitions.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

The Android and iOS app that Fueled developed is a blend of several functions and features, such as event discovery, registration, time tracker, and live streams.

How did you come to work with Fueled?

One of the owners of our company had previous experience working with Fueled.

How much have you invested with them?

We invested close to $500,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together from August 2021–April 2022.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Fueled was a very competent mobile app development company, as they had the right people with the right skills and knowledge to accomplish the project.

It took them a few months to learn our business well enough to make a contribution, but I was very happy with the results they delivered — they added real value to what we were trying to do, and gave us an app that we wouldn’t have been able to build ourselves.

How did Fueled perform from a project management standpoint?

We stayed on top of the project through a tool called Notion and designed the app through Figma. We also typically communicated through Slack, Zoom, and Google Meet.

What did you find most impressive about them?

We were impressed with their capabilities as an organization because they were able to provide us with the services that we needed.

From full stack mobile development and design strategy to execution and maintenance, we believe we got the best people for the project.

We felt like we were in good hands and the highest compliment I would give is that we would definitely hire them again.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I don’t think there’s anything they need to improve on.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Be prepared to make decisions quickly - Fueled can go faster than you might expect!

**The Review** — Oct 12, 2021

**Feedback Summary**: Fueled has successfully developed a seamless website in a timely manner. The team has established adequate resources to ensure effective communication and strong project management. They have been skilled, detail-oriented, and collaborative throughout the workflow.
""Fueled are proactive in finding solutions and heading off potential problems, and in their attention to detail.""

**BACKGROUND**
Please describe your company and your position there.

I'm the Co-Founder of Vizzy, where we help young professionals and businesses showcase who they are and what they can do.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
For what projects/services did your company hire Fueled, and what were your goals?

Fueled took our concept and brought it to life through extensive research, beautiful design and outstanding development.

**SOLUTION**
How did you select Fueled and what were the deciding factors?

We wanted an established partner with varied experience, who would build a dedicated team around our product. That's exactly what we got.

Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.

A multi-feature CMS platform, simultaneously drawing upon third party partners and APIs and combining various multi-media content softwares - all playing into fresh, contemporary design and highly intuitive UX.

How many people from the Fueled team worked with you, and what were their positions?

We received expertise from x2 Project Managers, a Product Manager, x2 Designers, x2 Backend and x2 Front End Developers overseen by Sr Product Director - whilst retaining comms with the Clients Services / New Business team we worked with from the outset throughout.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

With little deviation form our original scope we delivered the product in four months, on track with our original timeline.

Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.

Communication was excellent; min. weekly detailed working sessions supported by a dedicated Slack channel which was always live with rapid response; and Figma to kick around designs and share specific feedback.

Project Managers have always let us know where we are and kept us on track, both on our side and theirs; product demos are fun and exciting; tech-centred conversations have been clear, informative and accessible when based on subjects we had little knowledge about.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

An open and understanding approach to building tech. Their expertise shone through and we have felt utmost confidence from the beginning in the approach and quality of work. We have felt heard and understood throughout, with ideas and solutions consistently coming through. Fueled are proactive in finding solutions and heading off potential problems, and in their attention to detail. Clearly a great deal of care, time and attention has been thrown at our project.

Above all, they're a great group who we have had fun building our product and enjoyed having the opportunity to do so with them.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

A busy run into the end of scope and a pretty swift hand over, but that's pretty natural and mostly a reflection of how much they were able to get across the line at the death including a few features we didn't think would make the cut.

"“Overall, the team was highly dynamic, engaged, and professional.”"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the executive director of brand technology for a cosmetics company.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Fueled?

We hired Fueled to help elevate our services online and replicate our selling ceremony with our in-store consultants. The team was brought in to help improve the UX of our website around seven focus areas, including product concept, customer journey mapping, user testing, observations, and data blueprint.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

Fueled helped us with our digital and e-commerce marketing strategies. Their work focused more on the concept of the strategies, which we used to implement their recommendations. Google Analytics and social media components were a part of that but Fueled mainly helped us lay the groundwork for supporting our focus areas.

We worked with at least 7–8 resources, ranging from digital strategists, online specialists, project managers, and data specialists.

How did you come to work with Fueled?

We’d done some work with Fueled in the past, and for this project, they went through our RFP process. They won the business based on their proposal, knowledge of the industry and our company, and understanding of our goals.

Fueled had excellent and top-quality resources that were highly experienced and sharp. Overall, the team was highly dynamic, engaged, and professional.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They could improve a little bit in knowing our internal challenges as a company and as a brand. The team could also be a little more flexible in some of their recommendations.

**The Review** — Apr 13, 2021

**Feedback Summary**: The internal stakeholders were thoroughly satisfied with their partnership with Fueled. Over time, the team grew with the company and became a valuable extension of the company. They challenged the initial scope and provided innovative suggestions to further the development of the product.
""Their team was really invested and put thought into what they were developing."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

We’re a technology startup that’s building a mobile-first platform for the property, construction, and real estate industry. I’m the CTO and one of the founders of the company.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Fueled?

We spent three months formalizing a business plan and the idea that our CEO spent a year developing and vetting. Once he felt like he had a product that was needed in the market, we then spent time trying to flush out the business requirements.

When that was done, I either had to go and build a dev team, which I’ve done in the past, or outsource to an agency. We chose the latter option because we wanted the speed to market and recruiting and hiring is not an easy or quick process.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

Fueled started the initial development for us and helped us with the architecture of the software. They assisted our UX/UI designer with design assistance. We originally set the tone for the design, but when you’re developing screens across three interfaces, it’s too much for one person to do.

What they did wasn’t a typical MVP. normally in startups, you spend maybe 12–16 weeks developing a minimal concept product, that goes out to the market to test. Then you figure out what you need, come back, and start all over. We opted not to go that route because we’ve done enough market research in the industry, and talked to enough professionals to give us an idea of what we needed to build.

What we built was closer to a v1 for an enterprise-level platform. Not only did we have backend developers, but we also developed the platform on iOS, Android, and web all at the same time.

Additionally, they did some branding work and developed our logo.

What is the team composition?

We had a project manager, two product managers, two UX/UI designers, two backend developers, three iOS developers, two Android developers, two web developers, 4 QA members, and oversight from senior management for architectural purposes. We had quite a large team.

How did you come to work with Fueled?

When we decided to outsource, we interviewed about five companies, and selected Fueled.

How much have you invested with them?

We invested just a little over $2 million.

What is the status of this engagement?

The engagement ran from February 2020–March 2021.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

When you do software development that lasts longer than a year, not everything goes exactly as planned. You’re going to have changes and challenges along the way, but I will say that every time we identified the challenges, we sat down as a team, talked about them, looked at them, and addressed them.

They were very much a partner of ours through this process, and their team was really invested and put thought into what they were developing.

They didn’t just take our requirements and did what we asked, they really challenged us at times and made further suggestions to improve the features and UX. I know this is the largest project they've ever done, and we probably stretched them a little bit in terms of managing the whole process. However, they certainly grew throughout the project, learned from it, and stepped up to the challenge.

How did Fueled perform from a project management standpoint?

We implemented JIRA and Confluence throughout the course of the project to measure our sprints, and did sprint reviews to check the velocity of what was being developed. We also originally set up a timeline of when all the features should be developed. It was easy for me to have a rough outline of where we should be, and what milestones, since I’ve got 15 years of software development experience managing large teams.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Because this was such a large project, Fueled made an exception and embedded me in the team due to my background. I was part of the daily stand-ups and got to hear what was going on. I participated with the QA and product team, wrote up the story, reviewed every single detail before pre- and post-development, and had direct access to the developers — which wasn’t common at all.

For me, it was the perfect working relationship. It wasn’t typical, but they were very flexible in allowing for that. Not every agency was going to allow that level of participation, regardless of how much experience I had.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Not everything was easy or went smoothly. We had challenges along the way that I saw quicker than they did. It took me a little bit of time to help them understand where we were going, but once they got it, they listened to what I had to say.

I really don’t have anything negative to say about Fueled. I’ve had probably dozens of different conversations with their managing director, who made sure we got the right resources and monitoring any challenges we had, and their commitment to it. At one point, they were behind so they threw an extra resource in one particular area at their own cost, just to get us caught up.

They were really invested in our success as we were, so I can’t say anything bad about them. If we had another project, they’re certainly going to be one of the first calls I make.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

That’s a little hard to answer because I don’t know what level of experience somebody else would walk into the engagement with. Agencies are a little different than staffing, so it’s really more about working with agencies than it is about the Fueled team. However, their team really knows their tools and processes. They work well as a group because they know each other and click together.

It’s hard to find a team where everybody gets along and understands how to work well together. One of the few advantages that we got was we didn’t have any friction and conflict. We had a team that liked each other, worked well together, and got stuff done.

**The Review** — Apr 8, 2021

**Feedback Summary**: Equipped with modern tech stack solutions, Fueled's team continues to help their client upgrade both their business and industry knowledge. The team is keen on streamlining their work processes despite the challenging product design, efficiently leading the client's business in a positive direction.
""They've helped us move forward by working on what's really best for us."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the director of design and brand strategy at a US-based online eyewear retail company. I oversee our UX design and creative teams.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Fueled?

We needed them to help us update our tech stack by creating a mobile application for us.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

As we’re trying to get into the mobile app space, we’ve thought of bridging the gap between a customer’s experience with an eye doctor and the e-commerce experience. We’ve come up with a solution to create a more personalized way of highlighting our services while providing the various needs of our customers. Fueled has helped us bring this idea to life by creating an iOS and Android app that mirrors the functionalities of an e-commerce site.

Apart from designing and creating a robust platform based on a customer’s prescription and their preferences, Fueled also assists us in accomplishing our post-launch plans, staffing up an internal team that’s set to take over the maintenance of the product.

What is the team composition?

We’ve worked with at least 15 resources from their team — this includes designers, researchers, and developers. We rely on their different team members depending on the project’s stages.

How did you come to work with Fueled?

I did thorough research on different agencies that provide app design and development services. We then interviewed over 10 groups and figured that Fueled was the best fit for us, having garnered multiple awards for their work experience. They built a renowned application, which really proved that they possess reliable industry knowledge.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent over $1,000,000 so far.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started in August 2020, and our collaboration is ongoing.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

They’ve really pushed us towards understanding and delivering our industry’s best practices. Our company is built on a monolithic tech stack, so our team has relied heavily on that without making room for industrial change. Fueled has been a great partner to us — they’ve helped us evolve forward by working on what’s really best for us.

We haven’t launched this project yet, but I think it will be a drastic upgrade to our business. It’s already helped us evolve our internal processes, so I’m looking forward to exceeding more expectations.

How did Fueled perform from a project management standpoint?

Fueled is a very honest team — they clearly determine what the next project steps are based on their progress. Their project management approach has always been top-notch.

What did you find most impressive about them?

We have a very complicated product coupled with a difficult design challenge, but Fueled has been amazing in understanding what we’re trying to achieve. Their team works quickly and efficiently to drive our business in a positive direction.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I don’t really think there are specific areas that need major improvement. At the beginning of the project, we might’ve had over-scoped, but that’s not entirely their team’s fault. We’ve decided to resolve that by meeting halfway in terms of setting our goals and timelines. Additionally, we’ve had difficulties with our timezone differences. The majority of them are from the UK, and they also have a few developers in India, so it’s been quite a challenge to keep working at 8 a.m. regardless of our various commitments.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

It’s important to fully understand how the scope of your work with their team will be. The clearer the goals you set, the more likely you are to achieve all of those.

**Feedback Summary**: Since launching the app, internal and external stakeholders have seen an improvement in the home buying experience. Fueled has simplified the process by delivering a strong and functional app. The team never failed to update the client on progress and were steps ahead regarding technical issues.
""We were extremely satisfied with their work and the app they delivered."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Please describe your company and your position there.

I run a real-estate business in south Florida.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
For what projects/services did your company hire Fueled?

I hired Fueled to design and develop a real-estate app for iOS

What were your goals for this project?

To have an iOS app to help my clients to have quick access to the available homes for sale in a specific market in Florida.

**SOLUTION**
How did you select Fueled?

They were recommended by a family member.

Describe the project in detail.

We created an app for iOS where users can clearly and easily search for houses in Boca Raton and Palm Beach. The app allows users to immediately jump into listings and view vital information about them. User's can also filter to help narrow down listing options as well as save listings to a favorites section. We also integrated Open Weather API in order to track the weather in the areas and give clients and understanding of the current climate.

We also implemented CloudKit to allow me to input and manage data. The app also allows my team to track data to improve the listings and how to better service my clients in the future. Lastly, the app displays lifestyle content that will give clients a better sense of what living in the area is like.

What was the team composition?

We worked with 4 people, including an iOS engineer, a product designer, a quality assurance expert, and a project manager.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Launching this app has improved the experience for both me and my buyers. It has given me a more effective way to access and manage new listings within the Boca Raton and Palm Beach regions and communicate my client's preferences. The app has been a great way for me to communicate directly with my clients which has improved their experience with purchasing a home 10 fold.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Integrating with the MLS was not simple, due to the technology providers in the mix, so we worked hand-in-hand with Fueled. They were always on top of letting me know of progress and development updates while troubleshooting technical issues directly with the MLS provider.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

I can tell Fueled truly cares about my business making sure not only I, but my customers were satisfied with the experience as well. They were quickly able to understand the industry and its current landscape in order to help make recommendations for features and user flows that really helped make the app stand out and out-perform my competitors.

Are there any areas for improvement?

There were not any major issues I had with the team. We were extremely satisfied with their work and the app they delivered. The only down side I would say is that they are a more expensive than other agencies, but it shows with the quality of work they deliver.

**Feedback Summary**: While the project remains ongoing, The stakeholders are satisfied with their collaboration with Fueled. The team is flexible and accommodating in terms of the costs, timelines, and scalability of the staff. Their workflow is consistently effective and seamless.
""The response internally for the designs is always that they are beautiful."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Please describe your company and your position there.

I am a consultant working for comfort tech company to deliver an app / front end to an IOT product. The company hasn't built a technology-focused product before so this is a brand new endeavor and capability.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
For what projects/services did your company hire Fueled?

We had no app capabilities and so we set about finding an agency that would be able to build an app from top to bottom. We wanted a full service, complete team to build both an iOS and an Android app. In many ways, we were creating the product while onboarding Fueled so they were very much a part of conceptualizing the project. Many areas (IOT connectivity, app design, theories of how technology can interact with the sleep process) were being created simultaneously.

What were your goals for this project?

Our goal was the create a best in class, elegant app that would take the new and potentially confusing concept of a multi-device sleep system and build an intuitive, easy to use interface to control it. This product will be a very new offering for us so it will be a big statement of intent for the company. Getting right on day one is incredibly important.

**SOLUTION**
How did you select Fueled?

We created an RFP and highlighted three areas that were important to us: design wow factor, IOT experience and ability deliver on a tight timeline. We then interviewed a few agencies and had them pitch to an internal team, including our CEO.

Describe the project in detail.

We had a fairly defined scope for the project (controls for the sleep system, a way to show data on quality of sleep, voice controls and easy connectivity. We switched technology partners last year so the scope has been reduced to mostly controls and onboarding now. The tricky part about the project is combing all three areas (electric, adjustable base; adjustable firmness mattress with 3 zones and climate control) into an interface that makes sense to the user.

What was the team composition?

We looked to Fueled to provide a full app team: design, UX, project, dev, QA and product. We have internal advisors but Fueled is the app team.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Still very much a work in progress so not data yet. We really are about to put the first build in front of an internal audience.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The workflow has been great on the Fueled side. There is a lot of communication around budget, staffing and timelines. We have had some start and stop based on switching technology partners and some internal shifting on who wants to be involved in the project. All in all, I think Fueled has rolled with our changes pretty well.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

There are two things that really stand out to me: I think the designs are beautiful. The response internally for the designs is always that they are beautiful. The second is the technical know how that runs through the team. Not just devs, but product and project leads have a solid understanding of how to deliver this product and and are able to share that with us.

Are there any areas for improvement?

Honestly, this form should be an every two to three month conversation with Fueled leadership. In my agency days, we usually had one of the founders (not someone on the day-to-day team) do a check in every two or three months with the client to find out how things are going. I've also had other agency founders (companies in the same world as Fueled) do the same as the project progressed when I was the client. I was surprised that didn't happen here. The day to day team is great but I do think some element exec check in would be a good touch.

**BACKGROUND**
Please describe your company and your position there.

I work for Robbins Research International, Inc. as Chief Culture Officer and Special Projects. We are the research and marketing arm of Tony Robbins’ event business which conducts seminars on a wide range of topics, from peak performance and personal achievement systems to communication and business mastery.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
For what projects/services did your company hire Fueled?

We hired Fueled to improve Tony Robbins' reach by delivering high quality mobile and digital products.

What were your goals for this project?

To deliver a high quality web, ios, and android product that allowed Tony Robbins' clients to listen to his coaching and training systems right on their phone - on the go 24/7/365.

**SOLUTION**
How did you select Fueled?

We found Fueled via the web by doing research on top app developers.

Describe the project in detail.

After working with several app development companies over the years we've finally found one that over delivers in all areas. Robbins Research International, Inc. hired the Fueled team to help us end to end with bringing a number of new digital products to market, including the Breakthrough mobile apps, the Date with Destiny microsite, and other upcoming & ongoing projects.

We have relied on the Fueled experts to help us simplify outdated and complex methodologies and bring them to life in modern digital apps. They manage scope well, have been flexible and adaptable throughout the process, and are a very pleasant & professional team of experts who care about delivering a high-quality product that not only works, but is also successful.

The best part is that really deliver on their commitments to develop intuitive & beautifully-designed products on time and on budget! 5 stars all around!!

What was the team composition?

The team was a full stack product development team (project, product, design, development, testing).

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The best indication of our success with working with Fueled is our Breakthrough app going from 1.7 to 4.9 stars in the Apple app store.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

We had a great relationship and communication flow with their team. They held daily stand-ups and weekly checkins in order to efficiently monitor their progress with the project and keep our team updated with any blockers they might have had.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

They strive to not only deliver a product that we were proud of, but one that the clients would love as well. Their number one focus was to make sure that our clients were satisfied with the product and wanted to use it daily.

Are there any areas for improvement?

We often want things to be delivered at a rapid pace. It would be great to have things done sooner, but quality and value to our clients is priority so we're happy with the results.

**The Review** — Nov 23, 2020

**Feedback Summary**: The app’s new features and functionalities have generated excitement, while internal stakeholders claim the app is far beyond what it was before. Fueled adhered to the budget and schedule. Competent and readily available, the team used their knowledge and expertise to build on the client’s concept.
""They were able to add tons of enhancements and provide great suggestions for things that we didn't think of ourselves."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the CEO and founder of afloat, a mobile app. Our platform provides a way to connect communities to each other and to the businesses that they love.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Fueled?

We released a beta app to the market that we wanted to get feedback from. The product that we had people testing on was really subpar for their experience, but the interest was very high in what we wanted to do. We needed to solve that product-market fit with a better product. When I found Fueled, I just thought that they were top-notch, and they delivered.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

We came with our concepts pretty well-developed. I had drawn out the flow that I wanted, and our most important features and all of that were established with our beta iOS app. We couldn’t offer those features with our beta, but after having our product out there and getting user feedback, we had a pretty good idea of what we wanted Fueled to build. They were able to add tons of enhancements and provide great suggestions for things that we didn’t think of ourselves, so it was a great partnership.

They made recommendations on our tech since what we were coming from was subpar. They walked us through all of the backend work that we needed and all the specs. Their suggestions on what to build and how to build it were super helpful. They also walked us through the phases that would make sense for us and our market. They were brought on to enhance the beta but essentially built a whole new app.

The app is live in the App Store. We’re still waiting on a couple of final tweaks so that we can push a new version; Apple required that we build in a reporting system last minute. Though the app is live, a better version is coming soon.

What is the team composition?

I regularly worked with five people, but that probably went up to 10 throughout the process. We worked with designers and backend developers.

How did you come to work with Fueled?

I love Barneys, and the Fueled team had done their app. I thought their app was great. All of their other clients have been so fantastic as well. In the end, it was a no-brainer to collaborate with them.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent around $600,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together from June–November 2020. We’d done a mini engagement in May, during which they reviewed our product to see if anything was salvageable and recommended a plan of action.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Unfortunately, we don’t have any metrics yet; although we did push the app live, we haven’t done any marketing around it yet, knowing that we’re waiting for the second version to come out.

However, Fueled helped us do some marketing videos so our current users and everybody who has seen those videos and the app’s new look are so excited about the new features and functionalities. That feedback has been great, but we don’t have any on the live app quite yet. The overall flow, look, and experience is beyond anywhere close to where we were.

How did Fueled perform from a project management standpoint?

They kept me on budget, and the timeline was great. We typically communicated through Slack. We also had weekly Zoom calls, unless they didn’t have anything new to show us.

What did you find most impressive about them?

We interviewed a couple of other teams before we ended up going with Fueled, and I just really liked the depth of their team. We did have to rely on their team pretty heavily toward the end of our project, as we were having some issues and bugs. They pulled developers from other projects to look at our app. Overall, they were really competent.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I loved seeing all of our status updates that they would give us on Zoom, but I never really knew exactly what those meant in terms of where we were in the development.

They gave great sprint updates and all of that, but I didn't really understand what it all meant. This might’ve been a weakness on my end since I’m not a tech person. It would’ve been great if they could’ve broken things down into simpler terms, but I trusted them, so it was fine.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Go in really confident and stick by your idea of what you want. However, once you know that they understand your brand, business, and product, let them do what they do best because they know what they're talking about.

They know what their capabilities are, and they know what’s out there right now in the industry. That was really invaluable to us — we came in with our concept well-established and set, but then we gave them the freedom to make it amazing.

**Feedback Summary**: Fueled exceeded expectations, delivering a high-quality, functional design. All internal feedback has been positive. Their attentive approach to their work makes them stand out from other providers. Customers can expect a diligent, hardworking team.
""Fueled emphasizes a level of personalization and partnership in their work."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the co-founder of Zuul. We’re a ghost kitchen company with one facility in New York City.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Fueled?

We needed some design work on one of our products. We didn’t feel the need to hire an in-house team; it was more accessible to partner with a team like Fueled.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

It was a website that Fueled designed for mobile and desktop. We needed the design and functionality of the products to work up to our specs. We’d drive demand for our brands and allow consumers to order from multiple restaurants at once. We had the backend worked out, but they layered on that UI we needed.

What is the team composition?

We worked with 3–4 people that included John (Director of New Projects) and Sean (Product Designer).

How did you come to work with Fueled?

In New York, they have a great reputation, working with some of the best companies here and globally. It was a no brainer to reach out to them and collaborate.

Their past work blew us away with the level of detail. They were able to hit the ground running and hone in on what we were trying to achieve.

How much have you invested with them?

It was around $10,000–$20,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with them in January 2020, and the website wrapped up that March. We’ve kept in touch with them as our needs are changing.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We had a good idea of what we wanted it to look like, and Fueled blew that out of the water. All of our employees love it. We have demo days every two weeks to talk about what we’re working on, and that was one of the more exciting things for our tech team to show.

The site is just getting out into the market. COVID-19 has impacted our plans, so I don’t have insight from our customers. When we do articulate it and show it to the larger landlords in New York City, they’re fired up about the functionality and design.

One of the things that drew me to them was the opportunity for strategy sessions. Those involve case studies and user feedback. We didn’t really take advantage of them because we knew what we wanted, but it’s a great thing to offer.

How did Fueled perform from a project management standpoint?

From a project management standpoint, it was great. Their diligent team is incredibly attentive to details. They knew what corners to look around without us telling them or having insight. They have the breadth of experience to understand what the client wants and provide great service.

We communicated mostly through Slack with a shared channel. We also used email occasionally.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Fueled emphasizes a level of personalization and partnership in their work. Their work speaks for themselves. They’ve been able to get a few key customers and projects under their belt, which attracts the same caliber as they move forward.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They’re incredibly busy. There was actually a week or so delay because they needed to wrap up some previous work before helping with our project.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Take advantage of all their services. We went in there knowing what we wanted. But that said, it would’ve been amazing to go through that strategy session with them. We didn’t have the budget to allocate towards that, but I don’t think we quite took advantage of the full suite of services. They’re a big value add.

**The Review** — Mar 24, 2020

**Feedback Summary**: The app was completed a full month ahead of schedule and went from a 2.1-star rating in the Google Play store to a 4.8-star rating. Fueled is open and communicative, facilitating a smooth workflow. The team is professional, talented, and hard-working.
""They under-promised and over-delivered."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Please describe your company and your position there.

I am the COO of a global education company headquartered in Los Angeles. We provide education for Emergency Medicine physicians via both online and mobile app platforms.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
For what projects/services did your company hire Fueled?

Our company's mobile Android application was developed more than five years ago and had largely been neglected due to other priorities. With the rapid expansion of our Android user base and consistently low reviews in the Play Store, upgrading the app to parity with our iOS platform became a priority.

What were your goals for this project?

Our goal was to achieve feature parity with our existing iOS app, to dramatically improve the UX, and to begin increasing our Play Store rating.

**SOLUTION**
How did you select this vendor?

Our company engaged in a comprehensive search for a well-respected Agency with a proven track record of success working on projects of this scale or greater. We had no room for error; this had to be done correctly the first time.

We narrowed our choices down to several top firms, set up meetings with each of them, and ultimately decided upon Fueled based upon their track record, and their ability to integrate seamlessly with our existing development team. Fueled demonstrated the perfect balance of strong development capabilities and emotional intelligence we needed for this unique project.

Describe the project in detail.

Ours was a complete re-build from the ground up. The project required the integration of multiple content types (audio, video, etc.), variable speed playback, collapsable players, and several other technical needs -- all for a very large user base of thousands of doctors whose downloads, play history, and other data needed to be tracked and preserved.

What was the team composition?

The core team on Fueled's end was comprised of a project manager, a product manager, one full time developer, and one part-time developer. We also provided one full-time developer from our team and Fueled worked incredibly well with them and integrated them seamlessly into the project. They also ensured he was fully trained on the entirety of the code base so he could maintain it moving forward.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The goal was to achieve feature parity with our existing iOS app in 3 months. They did it in just over two and spent the remaining time fitting in all sorts of new additions -- Android auto, content notifications, you name it! They never took their foot off the pedal, treating our time and money as valuably as we do.

Perhaps the most stunning outcome apart from an amazing app that works flawlessly is the amazing transformation that took place in the Play Store. When we started the project our poor app was hovering around 2.1 stars. Less than a month after project completion we soared to over 4.8! What a complete transformation!

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Great! We integrated them seamlessly into our Slack and they shared us on their JIRA account. Easy peasy!

What did you find most impressive about this company?

They under-promised and over-delivered. By the end of the project they were looking for more features to fit in and we got a ton of new bells and whistles! Other companies would have put it on cruise control, but Fueled floored it and as a result we won big time!

Are there any areas for improvement?

There were minor hiccups here (mostly with scheduling meetings, meeting notes, meeting platforms, etc.) as with any project. But those were very minor. We were very satisfied with the project and the team.

**The Review** — Apr 12, 2019

**Feedback Summary**: Fueled delivered a platform that exceeded expectations, developing a website robust enough to be introduced in beta to a large audience. In addition to delivering over scope, they also delivered on time and within budget. Overall, the process was relatively seamless.
"“The product they delivered allowed us to generate revenue before launching, which was very impressive.”
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I'm the product manager at Wirecutter, a product recommendations website.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Fueled?

We hired Fueled to support us with web development as we undertook a reengagement mission to get more customers to come back to our site.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

Over the span of about nine weeks of intense work, Fueled helped us build a new website that included a new type of content and about 60 articles. The new site's architecture enabled us to send out automated deal alerts to visitors, depending on the products they saved. The backend was built in Python within a Django CMS and the frontend was built with Vue.js. In addition to development, they also provided quality assurance and project management services.

What is the team composition?

We worked with 6–7 people, including an account manager, a product manager, two engineers, a QA lead, and a junior product manager.

How did you come to work with Fueled?

They were recommended by one of our partners.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together from August–December 2018. After they built the alpha version of the platform, we extended the contract so they could help us take it into a beta phase.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The platform they built made it very easy to modularize, fitting very well within our existing ecosystem. Many of the features Fueled implemented have since been built into our core offering. They delivered the alpha version of the platform on time, on budget, and slightly over scope. As the deadline got close, they did everything necessary to ensure they delivered on time, taking a lot of accountability and responsibility in the project.

They also delivered a platform that was more robust than we anticipated, allowing us to use it as a beta version and introduce it to over 250,000 people within a few months. Engagement within that time was very high and allowed us to generate a profit, even though that wasn't the purpose.

How did Fueled perform from a project management standpoint?

They were absolutely fantastic, and the whole engagement was relatively seamless. Similar to our approach, they worked in a very agile way and held daily check-ins.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their engineering group takes ownership in their work and brings a lot of passion to the table. The product they delivered allowed us to generate revenue before launching, which was extremely impressive.

Are there any areas they could improve?

It took a couple of weeks for us to work out the best process, so the initial transparency in progress reporting could've been better.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Make sure someone on the team is owning the relationship and making themselves available to Fueled's team to ensure they have everything they need on a daily basis.

**The Review** — Apr 2, 2019

**Feedback Summary**: The app is about to launch, and the results are mainly positive. Fueled provided guidance to ensure a solid finished product, and they kept the project on track. Collaboration between sprints could be stronger, but everything was completed on time.
"“Their organization was excellent. They finished everything on time and set good expectations.”
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.
We're a relatively new startup in the event planning space. We're trying to develop a mobile app that is a combination of location tracker and event calendar. I'm the founder.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Fueled?
We hired them to build the MVP.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?
They developed the app from scratch and did all of the design and development with our input. The iOS version was built natively using Swift, and the Android version will be built with Flutter. They created wireframes and oversaw all the UI/UX. They included an onboarding process, developed the event planning portion, and set up functionality that lets users announce their projected ETAs to events. We’re about to submit the iOS version to the App Store.
What is the team composition?
We have a project manager for the development team and another direct point of contact. We also had two designers based in the UK and two developers based in India.
How did you come to work with Fueled?
We spoke with five companies and had a short list of three. We interviewed them thoroughly and felt that they were the strongest technically. Their costs were a little higher than their competitors, but they brought the price down from the original estimate.
How much have you invested with them?
The project cost between $250,000–$500,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We worked together on this project from November 2018–March 2019.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
The app has yet to launch, but they cleaned up a lot of the bugs within the MVP. There are a few things we might have done differently, but we're set to get started with what they've provided.
How did Fueled perform from a project management standpoint?
Project management was excellent. They were on top of things, and our main point of contact coordinated all the pieces.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Their organization was excellent. They finished everything on time and set good expectations. They pushed back on our weaker ideas, and we usually moved forward after some discussion. They kept us on track and under control, and everything was straightforward.
Are there any areas they could improve?
We could have used more feedback between collaborative periods. We had two-week sprints, and I like to be more involved than some of their other clients. Though I was further outside the process than I would have liked, they finished everything within their stated time frames.

What is the team composition?

The team included an account manager, two product managers, and three mobile developers and designers.

The partnership was seamless. Fueled completed the project on time in an organized and professional manner. The team leveraged their expertise to implement great strategy, functionality, and deliverables. We communicated via Slack and held weekly one-hour meetings.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Are there any areas they could improve?

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

The team understood our business and suggested several scenarios that ultimately led to a good solution.

**The Review** — Sep 20, 2018

**Feedback Summary**: Fueled’s impeccably-designed blueprint model has solicited positive feedback. Their highly collaborative team always builds to spec and they’re also known to incorporate their very hands-on and personal touch. Their immense talent is worth the hefty price.
"“They seamlessly fused their unique style with our requirements to create a stunning and sophisticated model.”
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the CEO and founder of Jobbhopp, a mobile app that connects skilled workers with everyday tasks in their area.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Fueled?

I needed to find an app developer who could help me transform my innovative app concept into a tangible product.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

Fueled was tasked with developing a blueprint of our app. They broke the project down into three phases; the first was spent identifying the problem, analyzing our competitors, and creating a solid business plan based on our research. During the second phase, they built a few wireframes that revealed how the app would look and operate. We discussed additional features that we wanted them to implement, and they sent the specifications to their UK-based designers who created the final models.

What is the team composition?

The project manager oversaw the entire project, while the team leader handled scheduling and email correspondence. They also assigned two junior developers and two designers to help us with the blueprint.

How did you come to work with Fueled?

While searching for local app developers online, I discovered Fueled and all of the amazing apps that they developed in the past. Their reputation as one of the best development companies in the world influenced us to reach out to them.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent approximately $40,000 on their services.

What is the status of this engagement?

Our engagement ended after the blueprint was created. We originally planned for Fueled to develop the app, but their quote was outside of our budget.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The model that they developed was instrumental to our app’s creation, and we’re pleased with the product that we were able to build from their work. Our current app developer even admitted that Fueled’s blueprint was the best that they’ve ever seen.

How did Fueled perform from a project management standpoint?

Our teams met once a week, but they were always available to take our calls and respond to our emails. They even accommodated our schedule by setting up video conferences so that we didn’t have to make the long commute to their office.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Several factors contributed to our app’s success. Fueled had a hands-on approach throughout the entire project, and they didn’t hesitate to use their extensive knowledge to prevent us from making terrible decisions. Breaking the project down into three stages allowed our team to give feedback along the way; they seamlessly fused their unique style with our requirements to create a stunning and sophisticated model.

Are there any areas they could improve?

We wanted to develop the app with Fueled, but their prices were too high for our modest budget. The price that they charged us to create the blueprint is close to the amount we’re currently paying another developer to build a functioning app with lifetime security, updates, and data storage.

**The Review** — Jul 10, 2018

**Feedback Summary**: Fueled surpassed expectations with the stunning and immaculately-designed website and their work generated an impressive number of new members. Their team has a combination of warmth and intelligence that other tech agencies don't have.
"“Their designs are spectacular and unlike anything I’ve seen before.”
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I am the founder of an online dating platform for individuals seeking part-time relationships.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Fueled?

After two failed attempts at building a dating website, I was eager to find a competent web developer who could transform my vision into a functional site.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

I gave them a detailed mock-up of what I wanted to include on the website, and they explained their development process during our first meeting. Fueled conducted extensive research to develop new design concepts that improved my original vision. Research was also used to answer questions thoroughly, so I never got an immediate response to my inquiries. They recognized that this was a new business and went beyond their scope to offer guidance on my startup. After several weekly meetings, they finished building the MVP site.

Visitors can sign up for an account and create a dating profile. Fueled developed an algorithm that matches members based on their responses to compatibility questions. Members receive email alerts about matches and have the option to send anonymous messages. We plan to build a second version with more features soon. I recently started working with their marketing team; we’re scheduled to execute their promotional strategies next week.

What is the team composition?

The web development team included the account manager, two product managers, a backend developer, a frontend developer, and a senior and junior designer. The marketing team consisted of the marketing director and two analysts. I also interacted with one of the founders on occasion.

How did you come to work with Fueled?

I had made almost 300 phone calls before discovering Fueled through a consultant. I was impressed by them on multiple levels. Their team is highly intelligent, but they are also approachable. Most importantly, they were the only company that truly understood what I wanted and offered brilliant suggestions to bring my vision to life. Their willingness to sign my NDA was a great bonus.

What is the status of this engagement?

They started working on the website in February 2018, and we plan to develop a second version of the site soon.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

I was always confident in my unique dating website idea, but I was pleasantly surprised by the number of members that joined. Things started off slow due to the ineffective Facebook campaign my prior marketing group developed before I started working with Fueled, but membership eventually increased.

Their designs are spectacular and unlike anything I’ve seen before. They accomplished my goal of building a functional website. My willingness to work with them on future projects is a testament to their success.

How did Fueled perform from a project management standpoint?

They worked at a rapid pace and treated essential and trivial tasks with the same urgency. I never had to micromanage them, because they always delivered work on schedule. They were available to answer my questions and troubleshoot issues seven days a week via Slack, text, phone, and email. We used Jira to track their progress and prioritize items when necessary. I typically correspond with the account manager, but I have the option to email the entire team.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Many of the developers I contacted to build the website perceived me as a walking dollar sign, but Fueled treats me like a human being. Working with them was like having an in-house development team because they looked out for my best interests. They followed through on all the promises they made during the sales pitch, which is rare. Their team is intelligent and intuitive, and they have a quick and agile approach to work. I recommend their services to anyone looking to enhance their online platforms.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I’m delighted with their results, so there’s nothing that I would change about their approach to business. They were patient and accommodated my technical illiteracy. With their guidance, I was able to contribute to the project.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Finding a team that you are compatible with will produce the best results. Also, phone correspondence is more productive and intimate than sending emails back and forth.

"“They delivered a product that we’re very proud of and we’re looking forward to growing.”
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the co-founder of PopShop. We’re an online platform for short-term retail leasing.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Fueled?

We needed a team to develop our website.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

We shared with them the concepts that we wanted to create. They challenged us on some of our ideas and direction, then helped us define our brand a bit more and what we wanted to achieve.

They started with designing the website aesthetically and functionally then developed the backend. Our initial MVP has just been delivered to us and they’re continuing to provide maintenance for us, tweaking things.

The backend was developed in Python and Django, while the frontend used Java. They did the integration of Stripe payments. There’s the ability to split up the spaces and have multiple tenants in each space.

What is the team composition?

We had around eight people at various times. Molly (Account Strategist, Fueled) was our account executive who oversaw everything and Nathan (Product Manager, Fueled) was the liaison between the developers and us. We had two coding developers and a couple of design people as well.

How did you come to work with Fueled?

We found them online when searching for the top development firms in the New York area. We saw their track record and thought it was well worth using them.

How much have you invested with them?

$200,000–$250,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in January 2018 and the site was finished in April.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We haven’t rolled the site out to the public yet. They delivered a product that we’re very proud of and we’re looking forward to growing. We did go slightly over budget and timing; we didn’t get to complete all the things that we did want in the initial product. I don’t want to fault them for that though. What they delivered was sufficient for what we were expecting.

How did Fueled perform from a project management standpoint?

We were very impressed with their project management. They were really hands-on, using Jira so we could track all of the development. We got detailed weekly summaries from them. They were very open and nothing was hidden—they laid everything out in front of us.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I’ve never used any other providers. We were definitely impressed with them overall. Their level of professionalism, their level of scrutiny, and their attention to detail was very impressive. They were solid and delivered.

Are there any areas they could improve?

We felt rushed to finish at the end. We didn’t feel the end product had enough attention paid to the little details that we felt should have been, after paying $250,000. There was still a couple of glitches that we felt shouldn’t have been there. These things are always going to come up during any project, but it was the one area they could improve on.

""When we wanted to add in extra components at the last minute, they worked into the weekend to ... meet our deadlines."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the founder of NUMOVI, which stands for nutrition, motion, and vitality. We give you the ability to browse the coolest wellness establishments in New York City under those categories and organize them into playlists that you can share with your friends.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Fueled?

We needed to develop the wireframes for our platform.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

They understood the direction that we were aiming for since their UX/UI branding is very funky and different. We're trying to do something completely different in this space. They not only allowed us to explore our creativity, but they helped us focus in on the direction we wanted to go.

We were able to create a solid MVP to move forward with the platform. We sat with them for a series of six weeks for sprints. We worked with a full team that not only helped us with the frontend, but also helped us better understand the backend. They helped with the design, branding, and overall look and feel of our platform.

What is the team composition?

We had one point of contact, but we could reach two to three others on the team at any time.

How did you come to work with Fueled?

We previously worked with them on a different project and had loved the way that the team kept an efficient workflow to provide deliverables. They did everything they said they were going to and met all the due dates. They had a unique way of executing user flow and frontend work, and our experience working with them led us to work with them again.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent approximately $36,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together May 2017, and we finished our collaboration in June 2017.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The quality of their work was incredible. We enjoyed the work process, and we currently are in our funding rounds. They allowed us to utilize our clickable prototype to reach out to investors and bring our idea and vision to life. They also provided us a more varied branding deck that allowed us to go out and raise funds.

We hit the budget exactly, and they met all of our deadlines. When we wanted to add in extra components at the last minute, they worked into the weekend to still meet our deadlines.

How did Fueled perform from a project management standpoint?

They were an amazing team to work with. We were impressed at how they could make adjustments for us after a quick call. They were reachable, and they utilized various platforms to keep in contact with us, which was helpful and kept things organized. They use more people than an average design team to provide excellent design, user flow, and expertise. We mainly communicated over the phone, through video conference, and through Slack.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They immediately treat you like family. When you walk into their office, everybody is welcoming, and everything is very well organized. Even the look and feel of their establishment resemble what they do with their design work. It’s clear that they have an experienced background because they’ve worked with many tech companies. They were able to share advice with us and help us overcome difficulties. Overall, working with them was really an incredible experience, and we're still great friends today.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, they handled everything really professionally and well.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Do your research, and make sure that you're knowledgeable about the project. They know exactly what to do when you specify what you want. Leave room for change and different options because the team that you’ll work with will have enough experience to guide you in the correct direction. Be open to their feedback, but definitely have an idea of the general scope of your project. This will save you time, as well as them.

**The Review** — Jan 9, 2018

**Feedback Summary**: Impressive expertise created a positive experience. Professional and timely service produced results while also refining platform objectives and the brand identity. Informative discovery sessions kept the process dynamic and targeted in the short timeframe, which created high value for cost.
""I can’t say enough about how much they accomplished in the short timeframe."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m a co-founder of Grabbit, a social commerce retail platform for all mid-sized retailers.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Fueled?

We had initial ideas for the platform, but needed outside help to develop it and our branding further. We needed storylines to define the application better and pitch decks for retailers and investors.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

First, we articulated our vision to them. They then created definitions based on those concepts, identifying the deliverables that we needed. Their developers and UI specialists created the Pitch Deck; the team also brainstormed demos, screenshots, and wireframes. The team did deliver the Pitch Deck but not a minimal viable product (MVP) or an actual mobile app.

For branding, they did market research and options for logos and names. Our company had a different name before we settled on Grabbit.

The wrap-up meeting occurred January 2018. Will, my co-founder, is currently talking to them about future projects unrelated to this one. We plan to use their expertise for future work, so I expect the relationship to continue.

How did you come to work with Fueled?

I met them through Will, my co-founder. He worked with them previously on successful projects. As a result, our collaboration was a natural fit. They turn down many projects, so we were honored to work with them.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent $40,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

Work started December 2017 and ended January 2018.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The team was great. Their professionalism and timeliness impressed me. They directed us by asking a lot of questions geared to figuring out our priorities. They also guided the thought process, which kept the project targeted and didn’t waste time.

How did Fueled perform from a project management standpoint?

The team was always well-prepared. We used email, Google Hangouts, and Google Docs. However, Will had much more interaction with them than I did.

What did you find most impressive about them?

While I haven’t worked with many agencies that provide similar services, I found them timely, focused, and easy to work with. Overall, they’re sharp people.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I’m not in a position to provide that feedback because of my minimal interaction with them. From my perspective, we had a positive experience. There were a few mistakes, but those are inevitable in any project. We viewed the engagement as paying for their expertise and timeliness, as well as the time needed to make corrections.

**The Review** — Jan 8, 2018

**Feedback Summary**: The app went through beta testing, was presented at auction events, and is now ready for launch at Apple AppStore. The app was finished on time, has an appealing look, and works as expected.
""Everything they gave us looks good and functions like they said it would."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

Hagerty Insurance Agency is a classic car insurance company that provides valuation information on classic cars. I'm a project manager who handles development of new apps and valuation products.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Fueled?

We wanted to build a mobile app to give our clients access to our valuation tools. We also wanted to create some new tools, such as a live feed of auction results. We needed a company with expertise in app development to do those things for us.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

They did all the coding and designed a user app, helping us develop APIs for feeding the app (we did the APIs development in-house with their guidance). They also helped us publish the app on the app store and get approvals from Apple. Our app is a competitive product available on the AppStore and on our website – we have some valuation tools online at hagerty.com. So far, we've only developed an iOS version for budget reasons, but we might build an Android version later.

The app is fairly basic at this point. They incorporated our ideas, making sure the app was finished on time and within our budget. There is a list of additional features they helped us brainstorm that we haven't built yet. We worked with them for about six months and we're launching the app this week.

What is the team composition?

I worked with four or five people, usually through our project manager, but there are probably a lot more people behind the scenes.

How did you come to work with them?

That happened prior to my involvement. One of our IT executives heard of them and discussed a few other projects with them (we didn't do those projects in the end). We were impressed with their design skills and knew we wanted to work with them before the project started.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with them in May 2017 and the project is ongoing.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We've done a lot of user testing and demonstrated beta versions of the application to our clients at auction events to get feedback. Since the release is within the next couple of days, we started doing email blasts to our clients.

They've met all of our deadlines (even though the budget did creep up a little). They were fairly realistic about what we could do in the timeframe we had, which meant cutting some of the features we originally wanted to include.

How did they perform from a project management standpoint?

From a client's perspective, they were easy to work with – they isolated me from all the internal project management details they had to deal with. When I needed to get in touch with them, I emailed or called/texted them.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Even though they don't come from the classic car world, they quickly understood our needs. They made their design match our brand standards, so everything looks very nice.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They're a little pricey and charge to make changes.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

It was helpful for us to see some of the applications they built in the past, most of which we really liked.

**The Review** — Nov 8, 2017

**Feedback Summary**: Reliable communication and qualitative suggestions on useful functionality during the planning stage made for a final product that surpassed initial expectations. Tight deadlines were reliably met without issue.
""They have a great understanding of what's current, and get things done very quickly compared to others."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I'm the founder of a mobile app that allows users to book nightlife reservations, view different venues/upcoming events, and compare pricing.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Fueled?

When we approached Fueled, our product had significantly less functionality, especially with regards to booking reservations. We wanted to add several new features, and to redesign the app to create a more exclusive user experience. We had limited technical experience going into the project and wanted a group that could manage the entire development process.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

Fueled built up a new iOS application for us from scratch. After an initial planning stage, we went through wireframes and initial mockups to give them an idea of our goals for the app’s design. They made several suggestions on potential additions to functionality and started building the app from there.

Features added largely focused on building out a bidding-style system for reservations, which included a database of venues with adjustable price ranges, an option to submit offers, and sending notifications upon the venue’s response to the offer.

What is the team dynamic?

We had one front-end developer, one back-end developer, and one designer. We also had a project manager and account manager who were not full time. About five people total were working on the project.

How did you come to work with Fueled?

They were originally recommended to us by a colleague, but we did receive a few quotes from other companies based in the U.S. After reviewing all of our options, it seemed that Fueled was our best option due to the price and their willingness to assist in determining extraneous vs. core features.

How much have you invested with them?

Between $100,000 and $200,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with them in September 2016, and the project concluded in December.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

I don't have quantitative results, but they certainly provided us with a solid starting point. They established a solid design for the app and created something that feels like much more of a well thought out, well-designed premium experience than what we had before.

In terms of reliability, they tested beta versions of the app vigorously to catch any outstanding errors or bugs. Once the final deliverable was made available, we had no problems at all.

How did Fueled perform from a project management standpoint?

We communicated via Slack for daily updates and Google Hangouts for sharing larger design files and mockups. I interacted with the project manager, and he would communicate with the development team. I did not get a chance to interact with the development team members individually, but our project manager was always very quick to update us and gave us the option to set check-in intervals.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’re incredibly efficient in the work that they do, and know what they're doing in both design and coding/executing their ideas. They have a great understanding of what's current and get things done very quickly compared to others. Also, a few months after completing the project, one of our APIs changed and caused a few issues with the app. Fueled fixed the issues for us at no extra charge, which was great.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I would have liked to be able to interact with the entire team directly, but I'm not sure if that was a result of me not asking to, or a result of just how they work.

Advice for potential customers?

We had a stigma about outsourcing to development companies outside of the U.S., and I wish we had been a bit more open to the idea going into the project. While Fueled was instrumental in planning out the app and determining what functionality would be most useful, the cost difference in regard to the actual development process would have been significant.

**The Review** — Jul 25, 2017

**Feedback Summary**: Prospective customers, investors, and advertising agencies have praised the updated product’s attractive look and feel. Fueled’s competitive skill set, collaborative approach, and adherence to all deadlines contributed to a rewarding relationship.
""They were open to our input and suggestions but weren’t afraid to push back.""

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the EVP/general manager of TrafficCarma, which offers a white-labeled traffic app for local media sites. It’s an app for folks that don’t really need navigation but just need to know the best routes to get where they’re going.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Fueled?

We have developers in-house, but we fall short with UI and UX. We’re doing business with local and national broadcasters, and our UI wasn’t anywhere near what our competitors offered. People are using apps on their phones, so our work needed to be on par with some of the best firms out there. We needed to redesign the UI of the app, so we did a pretty exhaustive search to find the right firm to help us. The original design was done by our team and a local firm, but for the redesign we felt we needed to hire a provider who could deliver at the level of our competitors.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

Fueled put together a well-rounded team to work on the project. We had an initial kickoff meeting in their office for a few hours, which their key team members joined. Some of their team had experience with transportation apps, so they understood the concept of what we were doing. We told Fueled what we wanted without too much detail because we wanted them to come back with a really fresh look compared to what we’d done already. At this point, the app had been live for 6 months.

We were really happy with what Fueled came up with. It was a collaborative effort. We would meet in-person or via conference call on a weekly basis to talk about the project status.

They did a nice job of conducting a couple of research projects. One was with users of transportation or navigation apps in general to get a feel for the marketplace. Then, they conducted a number of interviews with some of our existing users to find out what they liked and didn’t like about the current app. Fueled also showed the users some mockups of what they had designed so we could get a proof of concept.

How did you come to work with Fueled?

We asked for recommendations in our network and identified some of the top firms in the space. We started out with 25 or 30 leads from coast to coast. We eventually narrowed the list to 3 firms. We selected Fueled primarily from the previous work they had done. The time we spent communicating during the vetting process gave us a really good feeling about them. We decided we wanted to go with a provider on the east coast that could lend a hands-on approach. They were also able to do the project in the timeline we needed.

How much have you invested with Fueled?

We spent less than $200,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started the project in January 2017, and it was completed in June 2017.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or impact of the engagement?

We will not be implementing their work until September because we wanted to build some additional features first. Everyone who’s seen Fueled’s work—including prospects, potential investors, and advertisers—has been extremely impressed with what they designed.

How did Fueled perform from a project management standpoint?

They did an excellent job. They were incredibly well-organized and efficient, and they always hit their deadlines. They were open to our input and suggestions but weren’t afraid to push back when they thought we should go in a different direction. We used Slack to communicate.

What did you find most impressive about Fueled?

We thought very highly of their process and the quality of their work. Their ability to communicate their ideas and designs was also impressive.

Are there any areas Fueled could improve?

The billing process was confusing. We worked through that, but there’s probably a more efficient way for them to handle this aspect.

**The Review** — Jun 8, 2017

**Feedback Summary**: Results from the discovery process and MVP sketches provided a clear strategy for decision-making, saving time and money from being misdirected. The Fueled team’s broad technical knowledge base, nimble thinking, and dedication to understanding internal priorities forged a strong relationship.
""We felt like we really had great people thinking about our needs.""

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m a contract director of web communications for an education nonprofit. I was the overall project manager during our relationship with Fueled.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Fueled?

Our organization tries to be forward-looking in terms of how we serve our members. We didn’t necessarily have a specific business challenge; we wanted to see how we could better serve our members, and whether that could be through an app.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

We hired Fueled to do an app review for us. We started with a very open-ended RFP, which was essentially, “Should we do an app?” We had a vague idea that it might support orientation, but we weren’t entirely convinced of that. We liked that Fueled was willing to walk us through a discovery process without necessarily trying to ramp us into app development right away. So, they really just did discovery for us.

We decided that we weren’t going to do an app. Being able to make that decision from a place of knowledge was a goal of our process. Based on what Fueled conveyed, and through that discovery process, we felt that an app wasn’t right for us. That sounds like a negative, but we actually consider it a positive because it put us in a better position. We had some of the best people consider the apps we might build, and we still thought it wasn’t a direction we wanted to go. It was an oddly positive outcome. We just don’t have a big enough membership base to merit spending 6 figures on app development.

I don’t think we had any developers assigned to our project, but we had user experience people and project managers. I would say we had up to 7 people involved from Fueled. We had a project manager and a project lead whom I heard from consistently. When we did our weekly sprint calls, there were often 5 people on the line.

How did you come to work with Fueled?

I found a number of app companies through a Google search. I interviewed about 5, and we ended up selecting Fueled because we really felt like they understood the problem we had.

How much have you invested with Fueled?

I think we did a 6-week sprint period. Since we paid for portions in advance, we got a slight discount. We paid their standard rate for a discovery sprint. I think we were in the $50,000–$200,000 range.

What is the status of this engagement?

I think my first conversation with Fueled was in July of 2016, and we kicked off the discovery process in the fall of that year. We finished the project in January or February of 2017.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?

We had them come to DC from New York for our kickoff meeting, and they brought 3 or 4 people and had some people on the phone as well. In the multi-hour session, they asked a lot of questions about our members, what we offer, and what problems we saw. They were really trying to understand the business problems we wanted to solve. We were incredibly impressed by the research they had done in advance and the questions they asked during the meeting. It showed they’d done a lot of work, but it also showed how quickly they acclimatized to the needs of our organization. We were very impressed, and the meeting went well.

The second deliverable was the concepts they developed for us. They developed 3 different concepts for an app we could potentially use as a minimum viable product [MVP]. We ultimately liked all 3 concepts, although we favored 1 as the clear leader for us to pursue. Their discovery process kept going through iterations of what that might work for us. In the end, if we’d felt that enough people would have downloaded the concept, we would have done it. We had no problems with the app concept, but we were concerned with how many people would actually use it, as we’re a niche organization.

At no point did I feel like they just told us about this app we had to develop and gave us a price tag. They really worked with us to figure out concepts that could be made into an app, and they didn’t limit themselves. They were very nimble in their thinking.

How did Fueled perform from a project management standpoint?

They used Slack as the team chatroom. We did weekly sprints, which were very Agile, and we had weekly check-in calls. At first, we started with Google Hangouts, but nobody in my office knows how to use that. We moved to another tool, but sometimes the screen would freeze, so we worked on that throughout the process. I wish I had asked in the beginning for a more formal management process.

What did you find most impressive about Fueled?

My impression, and what I heard from reference checks, is that they really excel at the conceptual portion, as well as their emphasis on a minimum viable product. Although we never quite got there, I know that they really stress being able to pick a concept, build an MVP, and then learn from that.

Are there any areas Fueled could improve?

My only complaint about them is that during the check-in calls, they sometimes had a lot of background noise, and sometimes I wasn’t sure about the point of the call. I didn’t really know where my team was supposed to come in and make a decision. That might be because we’re a formal group and needed more structure. We would have liked the weekly check-in calls to feel a little more on-point. I always hung up unsure about what they wanted. Other than that, my team really enjoyed the whole process. We felt like we really had great people thinking about our needs.

**The Review** — Sep 14, 2016

**Feedback Summary**: Fueled received positive feedback from the client, noting that the product that they received was almost flawless. However, they did struggle along the way to get their application approved by Apple, and the overall cost of development was high.
""They delivered us nearly flawless code."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

We are a mobile micro-donation platform that will ask people to donate $1, $2 or $3 to causes and current events. The thought being that if you share your donation with your network and encourage your friend to give, it can aggregate to a large amount of money. I am the Chief Operating Officer.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Fueled?

My background is in financial technology but I’m not a developer myself. We were able to put together a PowerPoint deck prototype but we didn’t have any development skills among the three of us. We raised half a million dollars out of the gate and we needed to start building the platform, so we engaged Fueled after a little bit of research, a vetting process, and an RFP [request for proposal] process amongst a couple different vendors here in New York.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

We went through some design sprints with them. They were week-long sprints in which we had a project manager sit with us for multiple hours per week and sketch out the prototype and start to develop the requirements for the platform. The cool thing about Fueled that I really liked is we walked in there with a pretty grand idea and they helped us scale that into something that is more appropriate for an MVP [minimum viable product] and a first platform. We did about five of those week-long sprints. It probably took us about seven weeks in total with some delays. They also helped us do some research on what Apple allowed with regard to charitable donations and we worked with Fueled to come up with some alternative methods of donating that were within Apple’s scope of their development guidelines. Ultimately, we hand them the credit for helping us refine our product and build something that complies with Apple’s regulations.

How did you come to work with Fueled?

Interestingly enough, we started out with your generic Google search of best mobile app development firms in New York City and they came up first. I say interestingly enough because we’re now working with their digital marketing agency, Taktical, who was responsible for getting them top placement on Google. We tried to vet them as best we could, and we used Clutch. We saw some other reviews from some other places as well. The engagement started at end of June, beginning of July of last year and we finally brought the development in-house in late February of this year.

How much have you invested with Fueled?

We spent $535,000 for everything.

What is the status of this engagement?

The project was completed. They went above and beyond what we expected them to do. They quoted us about $300,000 to $325,000 and we almost doubled that. A lot of that had to do with the fact that we wanted additional features that they didn’t think that we needed for an MVP, and we had talked ourselves into the fact that we did need them. Also, we did go through a whole bunch of rounds of rejection with Apple, where they rejected us for a whole multitude of reasons and we had to fix those reasons as we progressed through the life cycle. That obviously extended both the time of development and the cost of development with Fueled.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?

We just launched. I can tell you that it is a beautifully designed app and all of our investors and early adopters comment on how beautifully designed it is. Fueled is to credit with a lot of that design.

How did Fueled perform from a project management standpoint?

They performed very well from a project management standpoint, it wasn’t perfect but it was great. I think that their people are somewhat stretched, but our account manager never made us feel like we were a small-time client. You couldn’t call her any hour of the day or night and expect her to pick up but she was very responsive, very helpful, and just a pleasure to work with. The developers, the project managers, and the account managers are all exceptionally smart. There’s no dead weight in that company. They do a very good job of hiring smart people.

What did you find most impressive about Fueled?

They get it. They understand the demographic that we’re building this platform for. We’re going after millennials and they understand what millennials need. I also think they do a good job of helping you scale down to what’s actually required. Fueled is not cheap at the end of the day, and my one complaint with them is that they’re incredibly expensive compared to some of their competitors. But they do a good job of helping you spend your money wisely once you commit to going with that expensive option. They’re cool, they’re hip, and they’re a great brand. The people that are running the company are smart.

Are there any areas Fueled could improve?

We did have some concerns when we went through the multiple rounds of Apple rejection. We felt that they were somewhat responsible for guiding us down a path that got us rejected and caused us a couple of weeks of rework, but they were willing to help us alleviate the cost of some of this additional rework. Additionally, we had to work with three project managers over the course of our project. We were only there for six months so they had a pretty substantial turnover with a couple of key people. One thing I did like coming from a technical background is they provide a great deal of transparency. They gave me direct access through Slack to their frontend developer in India and their backend developer in New York. I had meetings directly with them without the account manager present. They let the clients have a good deal of freedom to talk to anybody on their team.

"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

The company is MysteryVibe. I am the Chief Executive Officer.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Fueled?

We wanted to make an app which drives our hardware. We make toys for women and we wanted to make an app which is very well designed and appeals to the public. It was a design problem that we wanted to solve.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

They created the entire design of the app as well as the build for iOS. They built everything from scratch.

How did you come to work with Fueled?

We found them by looking at a lot of award winning apps that they have built. We were looking for good apps that we already like and tried to find out who built them. That’s how we found them. Then we talked to them here in London. We have a London office, so we talked to them and then they produced it.

How much have you invested with Fueled?

We have spent $500,000.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?

In the nine months that it has been live, the app has been downloaded more than 150,000 times.

How did Fueled perform from a project management standpoint?

They were really good; they took ownership of everything. They managed everything. They don’t need much guidance and they’re very independent. They also take care of other elements of the app such as submission, and they do a very good job of it.

What did you find most impressive about Fueled?

They’re very diligent, they really care about UX and design. It’s very special and not many developers and designers think that well. It was a very good experience and we still work with them. I have nothing to say which isn’t good. Also, there are a lot of good programmers in their design component. We know a lot of good programmers but there are very few teams who design as well as Fueled.

Are there any areas Fueled could improve?

We hope it’s always faster but I think it’s part of any project. Things always take longer than we planned.

""The vibe and the energy that I got visiting  Fueled  was  much more exciting than while visiting other app development companies.""

**BACKGROUND**
Please describe your organization.

We are a new app that just launched about a month ago [March 2016]. It provides information in terms of architecture, historical places, and tourist attractions around you.

What is your position?

I'm the founder and CEO.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What business challenge were you trying to address with Fueled?

I'm not a developer, so I needed a team to lead the development and design of my app.

**SOLUTION**
On what platforms is it available?

It's only available on iOS right now.

How did you come to work with Fueled?

There is an app called QuizUp, which is literally my favorite app of all time. I like the functionalities, how it works, and how it never crashes. I did a little bit more research and found out that Fueled made QuizUp. Since it was my favorite app, I wanted to work with the company that built it. That's one of the reasons I contacted Fueled. Also, because of their designs and how they are well known in the industry of app developments. That's why I chose Fueled.

I did go to other agencies as well but, when I was at Fueled, I felt the innovation and the willingness – them wanting to work with you and develop something that people will use. The vibe and the energy that I got visiting  Fueled was much more exciting than while visiting other app development companies.

Could you provide a sense of the size of this initiative in financial terms?

It was around $50,000 to $200,000.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Could you share any statistics or metrics from this engagement?

So far, I haven't done much marketing because the product right now is just in minimum viable product. I haven't included all the features that I envisioned yet.

I'm just going around and meeting with people and getting some feedback – what do you want to see, and what don't you want to see – so I don't have much in terms of metrics to share.

What distinguishes Fueled from other providers?

Fueled's communication is good.

Is there anything Fueled could have improved or done differently?

In the project, there were notification issues that would have been great if that issue didn't happen. If you were to download the app and walk around New York City, you got many notifications for many points of interest, and that was annoying for users. That's something that should have been caught up front, but that's the only thing. It's alright because we'll probably fix it in next version.

**Feedback Summary**: Fueled collaborated with the client’s in-house IT team to create a straightforward user experience on a very strict timeline. They communicated well and offered experienced advice throughout the development process.
""The partnership with Fueled was a real collaborative effort.""

**BACKGROUND**
Please describe your organization.

I work for Verizon Wireless. I do national operations, and when working with Fueled I actually did national retail operations.

What is your position?

I’m the Associate Director within the National Operations Department.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What business challenge were you trying to address with Fueled?

At the time, we were working towards creating an instore mobile experience for customers that would be unique to the store, utilizing Bluetooth and Wi-Fi technology. We were able to create what I'd say was the initial shell of an instore experience. For example, we already have a parent app “My Verizon Mobile”. When we initially rolled out with our beta, we put some beacons in the store; we rarely use the Wi-Fi access points in the store.

**SOLUTION**
Please describe the scope of their involvement in greater detail.

What we wanted Fueled to do was take it to the next level in terms of not just triggering things you can do like checking in and scanning products, but to create more of an experience of going to the store. At the same time, letting customers feel more engaged with the store and the products available.

How did you come to work with Fueled?

I actually was the person that selected Fueled. We looked at a host of different companies. The challenge we found at the time was finding someone that had experience with Bluetooth Beacons and having an understanding of how that would work.

While seeing other companies, some were really good doing video; some were really good with creating a holistic on-the-go app. What it really came down to, in terms of not just styling choices, but the knowledge, Fueled really fit the bill for what we were looking for when building apps. Seeing some of the innovation and creative ways that they approached different apps for different companies is really what helped make the decision to move forward with them.

Could you provide a sense of the size of this initiative in financial terms?

When it initially started we were in the low range, and based on the work and liking what we were seeing, we went above $50,000.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Could you share any statistics or metrics from this engagement?

I wanted to make sure our original IT team helped build it so they could help manage it in the future. The partnership with Fueled was a real collaborative effort. They were patient in terms of working with us and understanding we had some strong ideas about the vision in terms of what we wanted. They were very creative in terms of giving different options. Fueled was really instrumental in helping us tailor the experience that we were looking for. They were a really strong partner in terms of helping us go back and forth on the drawing board, and boiling down what we were trying to do and then making sure it was the simplest, easiest way a customer could go about doing it.

What distinguishes Fueled from other providers?

When we were doing this, we had an extremely aggressive timeline with very limited resources to get it done. We literally ended up having daily calls every morning to make sure to drive it forward. They were great in terms of not just coordinating our project leader, but the design team members as well, from different areas throughout the business. They did a great job.

Is there anything Fueled could have improved or done differently?

We had some passionate discussions in terms of trying find the right approach. That was actually a really good thing. Everybody had strong ideas on what the best approach would be and how to do it. Fueled did a good job of letting us know if they thought we might be steering in the wrong direction, giving pushback when needed, but bringing that pushback and explaining the theory behind why the approach we might be going for might not be the best approach.

**The Review** — Mar 21, 2016

**Feedback Summary**: Fueled was able to navigate an intensive development process that involved multiple partners and the high quality standards inherent in developing a finance product, without sacrificing creativity.
""We were bringing together a bunch of different partners, and it was a complex build .... Fueled handled it well.""

**BACKGROUND**
Please describe your organization.

Our app is a merger of a commission-free trading platform with a social platform.

What is your position?

I'm the CEO.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What business challenge were you trying to address with Fueled?

We outsourced our app development to Fueled. They handled the entirety of the development process.

**SOLUTION**
Please describe the scope of their involvement in detail.

Currently, it's just on iOS. It's in the alpha testing period right now. We're planning to release it for Android also.

How did you come to work with Fueled?

We looked at a few agencies. We partnered with Fueled. Their venture wing made an investment in us and that was part of the reason we partnered with them. We also got a great feel from going to their office. We met with the team, and it seemed like the right fit for us.

Could you provide a sense of the size of this initiative in financial terms?

Our project with Fueled was $200,000-plus.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Could you share any statistics or metrics from this engagement?

This is a finance product and it was a complicated build. You're obviously dealing with people's money, so you can't make many mistakes. The front end was not intensive, but the back-end was. We were bringing together a bunch of different partners, and it was a complex build from that perspective. Fueled handled it well.

What distinguishes Fueled from other providers?

Fueled's creativity is probably the biggest thing that stands out to me in terms of branding and the product itself.

Is there anything Fueled could have improved or done differently?

We're not completely done, but from what's gone on so far, not really. I think the process went well.

**The Review** — Sep 30, 2014

**Feedback Summary**: The app's design and functionality received extremely good feedback.. Fueled won praise for their work in the strategy phase of development, especially for the effort they put into learning the nightlife market. Their organization and passion made them a great startup fit.
""I think they’re good at finding the right approach.""

**BACKGROUND**
Please describe your company.

We’re a mobile application for discovering upscale nightlife events in international destinations from Las Vegas and New York to London, Paris, and Dubai. It allows members to book reservations, so we have a concierge team that handles those reservations. I’m a tech guy. I’ve been dealing with software for 10 or 12 years and I’ve partnered with somebody who’s been in nightlife for 25 years, so it’s a unique combination, and I think we have a real winner here with the app.

What is your role and responsibilities?

Co-founder.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What was your goal for working with Fueled?

Given that it’s a luxury lifestyle type of industry and market, we needed to be seen as a luxury brand and a leader in the field. We’re dealing with very discerning demographics. The people that go out and book $10,000 tables, they don’t want to look at a cheaply designed app. For those people, their most precious commodity is their time, it’s not their money. So, we designed a very simple and easy to use app that looks opulent from the very beginning. So, that’s why I partnered with Fueled.

Originally, a year and a half ago, the project [had a different name], and we’ve gone through a couple phases already, and this is the latest iteration. The scope of the project has changed a bit with that shift as well. The original concept was a little broader, and we really narrowed down the scope of what the app does. So, it’s really about discovering two to three events per night now, and then being able to book a table. Before it was a little broader, but it’s gone through a few iterations, and now we’re doing really well. Two weeks ago, we had an event with Lenny Kravitz and Katie Holmes.

**SOLUTION**
Please describe the scope of their work.

They designed and developed the iOS application. They also designed the Android version. Due to time constraints, I had my own guys develop the Android app. They have not done a Web version, but we’re looking to have Fueled do the design of our Web platform, and we’re sitting down this week to discuss what the scope of the website will be, whether that’s a full booking platform, or just a company biography.

They’re involved in the strategy phase as well, and they’re quite good at that. They didn’t understand everything about the nightlife industry, but they had a pretty good handle on it the first time I sat down with them. They understood quite a bit about what the app would need to be. I think Fueled is really good at that strategy phase, in helping startups determine what exactly the product market fit should be. It’ll need a little more work afterwards, once you get feedback from users, but I think they get it off a good start.

What was your process for selecting Fueled with which to work?

I was referred by Matt Murphy, he’s the co-founder of lemon.com as well as several other companies. He’s a really good friend of mine. I had a few things I was working on a couple years ago, and he referred me to Fueled about a year and a half ago. He sent me a couple firm names, but he said Fueled was his favorite.

Can you provide a ballpark dollar figure for the size of the work that they’ve done for you?

Given that it’s lasted a couple of years, it’s definitely more than $200,000. Included in that amount is several iterations of the app, plus they’ve done other branding work for us.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Do you have any statistics or metrics to track improvement from the project?

The response for the design is phenomenal, extremely sleek, and opulent. People love the design, functionality, and simplicity. So I think we got what we were looking for.

User feedback from the app has been great, we had a few glitches but nothing major. We’re growing. Just yesterday, we got more than a thousand new users, so we’re growing quite quickly.

Is there anything unique about them that really makes them stand out, compared to other companies?

I think that Fueled does a good job at development, design, and strategy. They understand a lot of different markets, and they’re able to help you find a good product market fit.

Their design talent was great, I think they’re good at finding the right approach. They understand that it’s more about finding a minimum viable product than giving the user a thousand different features that they get frustrated by and eventually stop using it. I think they’re great for startups. They’ll make sure the money you are spending isn’t going towards features or functionality that’s never going to be used.

Looking back on the work so far, is there any area that you think they could improve upon or something that you might do differently?

That’s a tough one because everybody plays a part. Our project was not typical because we lost more than two years, and we changed the scope of the work, and other problems popped up. It may have made more sense for us to have extra developers working on our side that could turn around little patches quicker, but that’s not a criticism of Fueled, it’s just the way the project turned out.

""Many people were amazed that something like this [application] was possible to create.""

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What was the goal going into the project?

We had a well-planned out idea that just needed a group of top-notch developers to implement.

How did you discover Fueled?

We were referred to Fueled by a friend of the owner of the company.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of the project?

We approached Fueled with an initial set of wireframes and concepts. Fueled created a more detailed set of wireframes, completed the visual design, and coded the entire backend of the application. Finally, Fueled also developed a website frontend that mimics the mobile app's functionality. The entire process took about nine weeks.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What were the results of the project?

The application has been received great reviews from media outlets and consumers alike. Since there hasn't been an app like this created before, many people were amazed that something like this was possible to create.

What is unique about Fueled?

Fueled provided us with a single point of contact for communication and to deal with any issues. This made communication very consistent during the entire project. Fueled produced everything in-house, and can offer a full suite of understanding, giving the application a consistent look and feel.

Is there anything that Fueled could improve?

Since they have a very high workload, they are sometimes a bit stretched, and projects can take a little extra time.

## Portfolio & Awards

### Wirecutter - New York Times
Wirecutter needed quick, collaborative product development. Having cemented their site as the go-to for reviews, the Wirecutter team began figuring out how to grow re-engagement with users who weren’t in an active research-and-purchase mode. Their first step was to create a Deals page–a single place to view discounts on anything the site had recommended. Figuring out what to do beyond that was a bit more challenging.

### MGM Resorts International
The official app from MGM Resorts is your personal concierge – it lets you get to your room faster, unlock your room door with Digital Key, make & manage hotel, dining, and show reservations, and find the nearest restaurants & bars based on your location. ### Ikon Pass
Ski resort giant Alterra Mountain Group generates most of their revenue from 300,000 annual passes, most of which are renewals. In order to ensure we had solid targets for off-season push notifications when it came time to renew, we had to build an app that provided tangible in-season value so users would actually download the app.

### Sakara Mobile App
We worked with Sakara to build their first native app, simplifying the day to day meal management of their clients while also making it easier than ever to purchase Sakara's wellness focused products on the go.
