We needed help finishing the MVP of our Next.js app.

What was the scope of their involvement?

FocusReactive provided us with team augmentation services. The team reviewed the code, finished the MVP, and set up the foundations for enabling AI-powered features in the project. The main deliverables included the MVP completion and infrastructure setup in Next.js, Mastro AI, database embeddings, caching improvements, and email integration.

We found them through an online search. We chose them because they were a great culture fit and their company values aligned with ours.

We worked together from August–December 2025.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

FocusReactive's work led to feature adoption and an increase in the number of emails sent. We also saw performance improvements and a reduction in the number of bugs reported.

How did FocusReactive perform from a project management standpoint?

FocusReactive delivered on time and had great project management. The business development manager was on top of everything and proactive all the time. We mainly communicated through virtual meetings.

We were impressed by their friendliness and great engineering culture.

FocusReactive was hired to do an ad-hoc audit of our frontend performance as a check for possible improvements.

We had an initial meeting to discuss our goals and objectives and to align on the short timeline. From there, within a couple of days FocusReactive delivered high level audit which was used as a way to segment scopes of work.

We hired FocusReactive to build a fully functioning headless ecommerce website.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We searched on Upwork and in other places, but found FocusReactive through Crystallize.

We wanted to create a fully functioning headless ecommerce site based on our existing shopify website. We ended up using a fully headless tech stack, build around Crystallize, Vercel, Nextjs and other headless providers.

I worked with two developers from Focus Reactive, as well as Robert as the tech lead.

We were super happy with the end result. We proved to ourselves that we could build a fully functioning headless e-commerce site from scratch in a short time period.
