University of finance and economics of Mongolia established in 1924. From the beginning we focused to prepare specialists for the Mongolian customs office. Nowadays we have over 30 undergraduate and graduate programs. In 2022 we ranked 863 of 1406 universities by THE doing social impact activities in the world. We are offering international degree programs such as ACCA, CIMA, CGMA not only in Mongolia, even abroad. We are initially accredited by ACBSP in 2008, currently doing reaffirmation in next 10 years. UFE has over 6000 students and more than 300 staff & faculty. Our satisfaction rate of employers is 87%. Employment rate alumni is more than 90%.

For what projects/services did your company hire FIBO CLOUD Pte Ltd.?

By using AWS cloud services through Fibo Cloud, AWS supplied UFE with Proof-of-Concept (POC) credits so it could test which services it would need in advance, helping to speed up the whole process. By using a combination of Amazon CloudFront for content distribution, Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) for static content, Amazon Elastic Block Store (EBS), and Amazon Relational Database Service (Amazon RDS) for MySQL—all set up in the 10 days before the start of the new semester, UFE was able to continue offering all its classes and educational services online.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

This company actively participated in "Innovation and Entrepreneurship" program which is launched joint program within Hebrew university.

Describe the project in detail and walk through the stages of the project.

1. At the beginning of 2020 we built integrated teamwork was essential—UFE IT engineers worked with the FIBO CLOUD team.
2. During the lockdown in 2020, UFE decided to transfer its entire online learning management system to AWS cloud-based infrastructure so quickly.
3. UFE had two weeks to set up its new system. By using AWS cloud services, it bypassed the usually lengthy process of searching for and procuring on-premises servers—a process that would typically take up to 48 days.
4. The move has improved the security of the University’s systems with 80 percent of its workloads hosted on AWS. Amazon Inspector allows UFE to see Amazon EC2 instance vulnerabilities.
5. Using Amazon CloudWatch, departments can access comprehensive data on traffic and use patterns to see when most students are online and examine learning behavior.

With Amazon EC2 Auto Scaling at times of additional need, for example during exam time, the system scales itself, eliminating the need for manual intervention. And by using AWS, the UFE has achieved 99.99% service availability.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Our IT staffs gain huge experience linked to AWS cloud service and students and professors worked online not worrying about lag of internet and domestic server's capacity hosted at UFE.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

IT engineers from both sides worked actively even at nighttime to solve raised problems. Specially FIBO CLOUD team's response were quick and professional. That means guys really hard worked as one big team and guided all the students and teachers in how to quickly move to the new updated system.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Company's atmosphere is energetic, and IT engineers are high-risk takers based on their IT knowledge. Marketing team was a great too.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

1) Need to continue enough contribution in educational sector even done project. 2) expand team

We hired them for their web and custom software development services. We don’t have a technical person on our team.

What was the scope of their involvement?

FIBO CLOUD Pte Ltd. works on several projects for us. One of the main ones they're working on involves developing an internal and external travel management system that allows us to process plane ticket purchases, hotel reservations, and more. It’s pretty much a booking website that’s customized for the Mongolian market, and their team has created it from scratch. The servers are running on AWS, and we have admin dashboards for adding new content and hotels. They’ve also helped us integrate our previous product into the platform. They do SEO work for us as well.

We work with several people from their side, including two project managers, a designer, two mobile app developers, two backend developers, and two frontend developers. 

How did you come to work with FIBO CLOUD Pte Ltd.?

We’ve worked on other projects together in the past, so it made sense for us to hire them for this one. Also, their co-founder was the CPO of our previous project.

We started this project around October 2021; we’re still working with them.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

They’ve completed all integrations within three months, and our platform is now live — users are able to book flights and get information the information they need. Overall, working with FIBO CLOUD Pte Ltd. has been a positive experience.
