Nemira had been running on a Magento 1 platform for more than 10 years.

We wanted to migrate to Magento 2 and significantly improve the website’s speed.

 After consulting with the Evozon team, we chose the Hyvä theme.

The project came with many challenges, most of them related to the very specific aspects of the industry we operate in — books sales.

We successfully managed to migrate the entire database, including customers, their order history, and loyalty program points. 

Clear improvements in UX and UI, along with a range of new functionalities, made the new Nemira website even more appreciated by our users. Customers can now navigate more intuitively, the shopping cart no longer experiences issues and third-party integrations work flawlessly.

A series of backend improvements also made the work much easier for both users and site administrators.

The Evozon team was proactive throughout the project. We organized weekly meetings, and they asked many questions to gain a deep understanding of our needs, our customers behavior and the particularities of our products (books). As a result, the project was very well built, with great attention to detail (details that may seem minor at first, but can truly make a difference).

The Evozon team was extremely organized and used their time very efficiently, with responsabilities intelligently split between backend and frontend development. Top marks transparency and patience. We never encountered any lack of clarity during the development process and even when we made changes along the way, they were able to reorganize quickly and deliver the best possible solution.

Software engineers from Evozon are extremely capable, they have a fantastic understanding of what they are doing and a really good technical level, general knowledge is on high standards, but in my perspective this doesn't help with project management as it deviates the business aspects from the finish line. In the search of perfection we tend to forget the need for get to the finish line, I have found myself in the need of supervising afromentioned focus many times.

evozon's expertise level with the different technologies and ability to hire proficient people for their needs. When there is a candidate proposed by Evozon, usually is the right person for the needs.

• Propose for help on items of work that are at risk so those are delivered on time. 
• For the people who work on the projects to be more open with changes proposed for the teams as sometimes we have found some unessesary layers of resistance to change.
• Try to develop T-shape minded people instead of having them managing only one particular area of expertise. Breaking that wall from the clients perspective is way harder.

Second team is developing UI components (mostly around React) used for online content editing and language management.

The teams delivered new versions of components that were integrated into existing Trados products or new offerings, validated and released according to schedule. 
We've used the same metrics as the teams had before, relating to estimates vs. delivery date, # of issues/bugs, performance KPIs, cost KPIs, robustness and stability in Production. There is also an aspect of ownership that every team member shares, regarding quality and Production incidents, which they need to monitor and handle.

We integrated the colleagues from Evozon into existing teams,using existing processes for development, project management and delivery; there was no need for project management from their side. New Evozon colleagues are ramping-up very fast and have good progress, they follow the team's requirements on estimates, time tracking, definitions of ready and done, quality assurance and robustness up to Production. 
They are also very open to any process changes that are made for that team and they are treated as being a 1st-class member of the team, in both responsibilities but also personal flexibility. They've provided us with excellent work for many years.

They have a very good process of handling leavers from the team, finding replacements that are also a match for the skills and seniority; but also the ramp-up of new joiners is very efficient, existing colleagues contributing very effectively. In rare cases that a new team member doesn't prove to be a good match after a while, they are flexible to quickly find replacement.

The scope of Quentic's platform modernization project is to shift a monolithic web application with Zend, Doctrine 1 and Ext JS as their main frameworks to an application following modern software architectural concepts and using Symfony, Doctrine 2 and React as frameworks. 
Within this large project, Evozon supported greatly by preparing and conducting migration of parts of the code base on their own including the necessary updates of third party libraries and quality assurance of respective areas, by conducting knowledge transfers and training of inhouse staff and by flexibly enlarging development capacity of existingteams.

Regular integration of software changes into Quentics CI process always adhering to the requested quality standards. Sub-projects of the larger migration project delivered on time and budget. Software changes have been applied and rolled out as part of major and minor software releases of the SaaS solution and are available to customers.

Evozon was very flexible in terms of project organization and adaption to Quentic's organization needs. Individuals integrated quickly into agile development teams and became part of the respective team process. A larger group of Evozon staff has worked as an individual team and was in close collaboration with software architects and stakeholders on Quentic side. 
Evozon also provided to be very flexible in terms of scaling capacity up and down according to Quentic's needs and agreements reagrding the overall project management could be easily taken through emails or quick calls.

The most compelling factor was that they aligned strongly with our technology needs. Since we're a .NET shop, it was helpful that they had an entire .NET department, but we also knew that Evozon had a broad range of skills. They understood technological nuances in a way we simply did not.

They augmented our existing development staff and guided our decision-making process to ensure we incorporated the most effective technologies. We first gave them a project to complete on their own and then incorporated them into our direct team.

One project of note was the creation of our e-commerce platform. They helped develop the entire base technology while working alongside our in-house designers. They integrated the site with a third-party search engine, built the cart and checkout system, added tax and shipping calculators, and ensured orders were processed by our SAP backend system.

They also ran comprehensive QA tests of our website and provided responsive mobile design.

Our company also acquired an existing company that had some unique Intellectual Property within our common Ecommerce space. We needed to rewrite that code and integrate into our existing Ecommerce platform. The scope was very large would require a new development team, testers and Business System Analysts. GoLive was fixed date, and additional post-GoLive support was required.

First, we worked together between April 2014 and the winter of 2016. Then, we worked together from April 2021 until March 2023.

• For the first project, we saw an increase in sales, though I don’t have metrics that point to any definitive contributing factors. The website they developed, however, has proven to be reliable and consistent.
• For the seconf project, the team provided new features every sprint (2 weeks), with live demos and a test system so that the business could try out the functionality themselves. GoLive was met with few errors, and the team provided additional support after hours.

They understood our project goals and were highly respectful of deadlines, working with us to complete deliverables on time. The schedule was kept, and they communicated very well if they felt that the timeline could not be met, and scope needed to be adjusted.

One of the things that stood out was their willingness and ability to educate us. As a software development company, they’re able to stay up-to-date on the latest technologies, and they articulately explained the benefits of newly available methodologies. 

We also appreciated their candor. They were bold enough to tell us the truth if they disagreed with our feedback or thought we were approaching a solution incorrectly. Our company values honesty, and we were happy to work with a partner who shares that belief.

The entire team understood the work that needed to be done, and the value of it, and helped make some great suggestions to improve it. This was more than a job for them.

They’re a Romanian company, and as much as we value honesty, we had to adjust to hearing feedback without American cultural filters. I'm one of the founders of Send Smiles, a flower delivery company. We deliver flowers throughout the Washington, DC area.

What challenge were you trying to address with evozon?

We needed evozon to provide complete development support. We asked for their help to create a website and delivery app for our drivers. We also needed a POS system.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We provided the content and photographs of the website. An external branding and marketing company also did the wireframe of the site before evozon developed it. The team worked to ensure our platform was user-friendly. The biggest functionality that we had was the delivery module, and they had to write an algorithm in order for everything to be calculated automatically.

On the other hand, their involvement in creating our apps was similar to the website; we provided the layout, photos, and design so that they could deliver our platforms. The evozon team specifically built two apps — one was a user-facing app that external customers could download and order flowers on. Then, the second one was for our drivers for dispatch.

Overall, we wanted to make the site and apps very streamlined and automated. That way, our business could run very smoothly. The team also did a lot of testing to ensure that the platforms were all secured. They now continue to make changes on all our platforms on a regular basis.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Evozon has developed extremely easy and intuitive platforms. Our third-party customers have also said that our site has the easiest ordering process in our industry. We’re very happy that we’re able to provide that to our external clients, and we appreciate the team’s help in fulfilling our goal of delivering smiles.

How did evozon perform from a project management standpoint?

We’ve had a lot of back and forth to make sure things are in the right place, and they’ve quickly addressed all the questions that we’ve asked them.

We also have a project manager who’s always on top of things and has been a great liaison between us and their internal developers. We normally meet the project manager twice a week and she documents everything extremely well. Overall, Evozon does a very good job at articulating our needs as well as communicating with a lot of people on their end.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I’ve been impressed with evozon’s good amount of reviews. They seem genuine, and they have a high rating. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

I’m not sure what they can improve because they do a good job so there’s not much that I’d change in our engagement. However, timelines are probably the biggest thing that can be improved in our engagement because it happens in every facet of what we do.

What were your goals for this project?

We needed help creating a highly complex cybersecurity solution. We wanted to improve our business’s level of service and expand our plugins to different marketplaces.

We were looking for highly skilled developers, so I considered several global firms. In preliminary discussions, we laid out the roadmap for our business and our overall goals. evozon offered an excellent range of in-house technical talent. Compared to other vendors, they performed well on a variety of tests I used to assess their abilities.

evozon provided end-to-end development services. We first worked with a business analyst (BA) to define the business roadmap. We then started working on the broad suite of components that made up our solution. 

The project consisted of multiple mini-projects where evozon experts with specific skills worked on high-tech tasks for a short time. This approach allowed us to complete over 100 different components that involved many technologies—from iOS and Android development to biometric AI to Linux core services.

The team varied over time. We first worked with a BA and a UX specialist. It then grew to a full-fledged dev team comprising three backend developers working in Perl and Python, a frontend developer, a tester, and a project manager. evozon later added another frontend developer and tester as the workload change. Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

The solution has launched and won more than a dozen international awards. It functions as we intended without requiring maintenance or updates. evozon helped execution a vision that I spent ten years planning beforehand. I couldn’t be happier with their work.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

evozon completed work using agile methodology and Kanban. I served as the product owner. We had weekly Skype calls to discuss status updates and upcoming tasks, and I received daily progress reports via email. Due to time zone differences, we had to plan a workflow to avoid blockages and downtime. We had a few hours of overlap each day for real-communication. We also communicated tickets over Jira. 

The team was highly self-organized and proactive. evozon never missed a deadline and addressed any issues that arose throughout the process. They also frequently added essential items into the work that I didn’t even know I needed. Their technical expertise helped us avoid costly mistakes and achieve a better outcome.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

evozon offered access to highly skilled workers who could build complex solutions to obscure problems across a wide range of technologies. The team was terrific to work with; towards the project’s end, they made themselves available on holidays, weekends, and late nights to address assorted emergencies that arose. Their level of professionalism and genuine care for our project was outstanding

No, the overall collaboration was positive, so I don’t have any suggestions at the moment.
