Scope of work: I engaged Elytr Studios to design and develop a virtual reality app MVP and to build a complete end-to-end testing environment aligned to a set of compliance metrics I provided. The team executed a milestone-based plan covering discovery, MVP implementation, and validation against our compliance criteria. Key deliverables included: the VR MVP meeting our approved design scope and UX; a fully configured testing environment capable of running end-to-end scenarios against real data and edge cases; validation of all required compliance metrics with clear pass/fail evidence; and timely iterations based on my feedback without scope drift. Throughout the project, they maintained proactive communication, hit every scheduled milestone, and turned around edits quickly—resulting in an on-time delivery of a reliable MVP plus a reusable test setup that supports ongoing verification as we continue to evolve the product.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We saw real, tangible wins from this engagement: the MVP launched on time with every milestone met, all required compliance metrics validated, and UAT closing with no critical issues. The new end-to-end testing environment automated the majority of our priority scenarios, cutting regression from days to hours. Change requests were turned around quickly and consistently within our expectations, design fidelity stayed tightly aligned with the approved scope, and performance targets (smooth frame rates and fast scene loads on the reference device) were hit across the board. Stakeholders were genuinely happy with the outcome, giving the delivery top marks and approving on the first pass.

Their project management was rock solid, structured but flexible. They ran a clear milestone plan with regular check-ins, transparent status updates, and early risk flagging, so I always knew exactly where things stood. Deliverables arrived on schedule throughout the engagement, and in a few cases even ahead of plan. When I had feedback or new needs, they were quick to respond, turning around iterations promptly without derailing scope. Communication was proactive and straightforward, decisions were documented, and they consistently aligned work to the agreed design and compliance requirements. Overall, the process felt smooth, predictable, and genuinely collaborative.

What stood out most was their combination of rigor and responsiveness—you don’t often get both at this level. They translated a fairly nuanced set of compliance metrics into clear, testable checkpoints and built a full end-to-end environment around them, all while keeping design fidelity tight and iteration speed high. Communication was consistently proactive (not just “status updates,” but thoughtful recommendations), and they never let momentum slip—milestones were met without scope drift. That blend of technical discipline, compliance fluency, and genuinely collaborative delivery felt rare and made the whole project feel easy.

Are there any areas for improvement or something Elytra Studios could have done differently?

Honestly, not much to nitpick. Elytra Studios was great to work with. If I had a wish list for next time, I’d love an even tidier milestone handoff bundle (quick-reference notes and links in one place), a touch more upfront clarity on iteration windows so we can plan feedback sprints perfectly, and maybe a broader device check as we head toward production. Those are polish items more than “fixes.” Overall, they were responsive, collaborative, and I’m excited to keep working with them as we take the product beyond MVP.

A fully functional mobile app has been development with the following features delivered on time:

Communication has very very excellent. Elytra Studios always kept us in the loop regarding project progress, constant product demos through video meetings or recorded videos delivered to us electronically. If they are having challenges meeting a set deadline, they always let us know.

Elytra Studios under Haseeb's management always go above and beyond to make sure they deliver items on time. Even when technical challenges slows the work and threaten to exceed the project deadline, Haseeb and team always communicate such challenges to us and still found a way to still get items delivered on time. 

We did not have to ask for project updates. Communication has been very excellent. Elytra Studios always kept us in the loop regarding project progress, with constant product demos through video meetings or recorded videos delivered to us electronically.

Key Deliverables:

App Development Design and develop a user-friendly mobile application for both iOS and Android platforms. Create a visually appealing and intuitive user interface with a focus on showcasing race achievements and memories.

• Race Achievement Tracking: Implement functionalities to allow users to log their race achievements in detail. Capture essential race information including Race Name, Date, Location, Distance, Elapsed Time, Bib Number, Victory Photo, and more. Incorporate features such as Personal Records (PR) markers and Virtual Race Markers to highlight milestones.

Elytra has provided a single source contact for project management. Although working in different time zones, their team has made themselves available during my working hours. In addition, they are quick to respond to off-hour emergencies. We agree upon an estimated time frame for each new app feature added. The team consistently meets all deadlines.

We were interested in incorporating an AR experience for some of our products — I can’t reveal much more than that at this time.

What was the scope of their involvement?

They provided a host of services related to AR, including developing a few different mobile apps, providing UI/UX design for those same apps, and enhancing the AR experience for numerous products. For the most part, Elytra Studios built these apps from scratch — we did not give them wireframes or extensive design notes. They were also involved in 3D modeling projects relating to the AR integration using Unity 3D. 

On top of that, they also served as consultants on AR technology, because we were still learning as we went. There was a lot that we didn’t know about the technology going into the project, and they helped steer us in the right direction.  

What is the team composition?

We worked most closely with Haseeb (COO) and Ahmad (CTO), but they also have a lot of other developers that deal with each aspect of the project. Between 2D animations, 3D modeling, and the rest of the AR needs, I worked with a variety of different teammates in some capacity.

How did you come to work with Elytra Studios?

Originally, we found Elytra Studios through a freelancing site. A lot of the companies that we found didn’t offer the support that we needed, so we were really looking for a group that could help guide us. That’s one of the main reasons we selected Elytra Studios.

How much have you invested with them?

Across all of the projects that we have done with Elytra Studios, we have invested $30,000–$32,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with Elytra Studios in September 2020, and the engagement is ongoing. In fact, we are currently planning some materials for a new client together.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Thanks to the work that we are doing with Elytra Studios, we have continued to sign really exciting AR projects with some large brands. While I can’t share specific metrics as a guide, I can say that the quality of the work has been incredible. We’ve been really pleased with the delivery — if we’ve ever needed their help, they’ve made themselves available to assist. 

AR can be complicated to explain, and there have been times where I’ve had trouble articulating details to our clients. Not only has Haseeb stepped in and helped explain, but he’s also been training me, in a way, so I can better demonstrate the work that we are doing.

How did Elytra Studios perform from a project management standpoint?

Overall, the project management experience has been very good. There have been a few instances where timelines got dragged out, but those delays were on us. Because we were learning as we went, we didn’t always have everything prepared that they needed. 

They’re very disciplined and they’ve bent over backwards to ensure that we’re happy with their services. Their work is always on time and within the set budget. They’re really responsive via email, phone calls, and WhatsApp. Even if we reach out after hours or over the weekend, Elytra Studios does a great job of responding as soon as they can. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

I’m most impressed by their incredible professionalism and attention to detail. Due to the high-profile clientele with whom we are working, it’s really important to us to have a similarly high standard of deliverables. Elytra Studios has met and exceeded our standards — the amount of work they’ve put in blows my mind!

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, I don’t think so. They’ve completed everything that I’ve needed them to. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

It’s very important to be prepared and to know exactly what you want out of the partnership. With proper organization ahead of time, they can grasp the scope of the project quite quickly.

I’m the founder of a company that has a couple of products with AR and gaming applications. We focus on early childhood education in South Africa, and our applications are available in various African languages across different themes and subjects.

We were thinking about how to make learning more engaging and exciting, so we explored AR and the different ways it’s been applied. We approached Elytra to use AR in a simple and child-friendly way to meet our educational goals.

What was the scope of their involvement?

We initially engaged with Elytra to do an MVP. First, we had a couple of exploratory meetings to discuss what was possible and which was a viable place to start. Then, we created the MVP, which was a simple application that worked with a few targets and AR. We took that to some users, and we were able to get initial user feedback.

Based on that feedback, we developed a beta version of our app, which was the overall process. We’ve gotten to a point where we have our AR app out, and it’s available in different languages for various subjects.

We work with the two co-founders. Haseeb engages and understands the problem, while Ahmad is really strong in knowing how to plan. They balance each other out quite well.

We found them through Fiverr about 2–3 years ago. We ultimately decided to work with them because of their initial exploratory vision. They were open to bring in ideas and explore them. Elytra didn’t treat us like a job to get done; it was a very engaging process.

They’ve had a fantastic impact on our business and the way our technology continues to grow. Our users have had a better experience, and we’ve been able to listen to them and implement different things to make that better.

Overall, we continue to work with Elytra because they actually start from the beginning and not just build for the sake of making cool technology.

They’ve scoped the work pretty well, and communication has gotten a lot better. One of the co-founders focuses on project management, and the other focuses on the actual work. Overall, the team gets the job done on time, and they’ve shaped the company so we’re able to put in those milestones and updates.
