Documents associated with our transactions were usually posted or emailed — that process wasn’t secure, nor could we track who looked at the files. We needed help developing a secure and intelligent platform.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Initially, Eden Agency facilitated a consultancy period where we discussed our goals and ideas for the project. We showed them similar products to give them an idea of what we were trying to achieve, but we started the project from scratch. Ariane (Web & UX Designer) helped make our thoughts and ideas come to life. 

After that, we worked with Eden Agency’s UI/UX team in designing the platform’s look and feel. They came up with their own ideas, but they also involved us in the process. Once the designs were finalized, they proceeded to develop the product.

Eden Agency then coded the platform’s interface and features. The solution provides an encrypted way for our customers to upload and distribute documents. It also allows viewers to create tasks and exchange messages on the files.

Additionally, users can request a callback or a hard copy within the app. Due to the sensitive nature of our customers’ documents, the platform allows users to restrict permissions. The app is initially available for the web.

We’re very close to launching the product. Eden Agency has recently showed us the solution, and we’ve provided them with our feedback. We’re currently conducting some penetration tests and other tweaks.

Eden Agency has been good at project management; they ensure that we all hit our deadlines. Sophie is brilliant at putting different parties and moving parts together.

Whenever we encounter challenges or road bumps, we can sit down with them and find a fix. They’re very nice and professional — the whole process has been smooth. We collaborate through Slack and Jira.

What was the scope of their involvement?

They’ve developed both iOS and Android products for us. Over time, they added more features to the product. We broke the project into phases. The first phase involved a facelift to the UX. The second phase required them to find a solution for importing sports data, which required a complex API integration.

Lastly, they put some additional features behind a paywall and provided a payment integration to facilitate related transactions. The project is five-phases, and we’re currently working through phase four.

They completed a project to provide a web application for a new tool to be able to operate devices installed in customers’ properties. They were pay-as-you-go devices for heat networks.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We utilized a design sprint week from Eden, which is a great way of testing the requirements and coming up with a prototype. When we moved into development we moved into a regular sprint-week mechanism. The communication and the appreciation for changing requirements were great.

I worked with a project manager, two developers, and a commercial director.

How did you come to work with Eden Agency?

We’d worked with them before and had proved their skill with design principles and technology. It was a no brainer. Previously, we’d matched them against competitors in the market and they were middle-range on price and had the best offering.

The web application project ran from April until October 2020. We also intend to work with them on larger projects in the near future.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

They delivered and exceeded their expectations in terms of delivering a web app that allowed a user to be able to operate devices in their properties remotely. We’re now in talks to sell the solution to our clients. We can demonstrate that our product exists and that our clients like it. It’s a bright and promising product.

They were great. They’ve always proven that they have no problems meeting deadlines or working within tight timescales.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The flexibility in their approach stands out.

I don’t have anything for them to improve right now.

Have the right people within your team to engage with them. They’re ready, so you have to be ready to. The first bit of work we did with them was challenging because we didn’t have the right team in place on our side. It didn’t necessarily cause any problems but we did move a bit slower.

We are national retailer specialising in window furnishing. This project has involved technical teams, website and development team, additional outside agencies and a huge network of sales advisors. Importantly it has also involved all customers landing on our website.

Our previous sales app was outdated and unable to integrate into our other sales tools and APIs. We had several technical challenges with data, realistic reproductions of products and how to engaged the customer and sales team.

Eden has the most creative technical approach of any agency we met with. We had open and honest conversations about the restrictions we were bringing to the table, how complex our APIs were and they created some amazing demos with very little scope.

We felt in safe hands with their seamless agile process right from the beginning.

We had a series of meetings and full sprints with key stakeholders. Eden shared every step of the way, with regular team calls, online sprints, demos, wireframes and play back calls.

This kind of development would have been complex enough but during a pandemic they still managed to keep amazing communication and we felt completely up to day every step of the way.

They led on complex calls with our technical IT team, took feedback well and delivered exactly to spec and scope.

One project manager who has honestly changed the game in our expectations of PMs going forward. Director has also been involved when needed and pitching. We’ve had support from UX experts at Eden, a while host of developers and analysts.

After 3 months of testing we’re seeing great results in all of our key metrics. Engagement has improved, order value and conversion have all drastically improved when customers use the app.

Great communication and processes. Sophie has been amazing at creating effective process and workflows - we always know where the project is, key milestones and deadlines etc.

How did you select Eden Agency and what were the deciding factors?

We chose the vendor based on previous projects delivered and the web development and design skills available to support the projects. The whole team are professional, personable and accommodate our needs very well.

We have kick-off meetings to discuss new project concepts and walkthrough design reviews. The team also provide initial feedback on designs and ideas at this stage which help develop ideas.

In the sessions, we discuss complexities and requirements such as key functionality throughout and APIs details required.

Following this, the team develop high quality stand-alone headless web applications using web frameworks such as React and Angular to the specifications of designs provided.

Frequent development review sessions are carried out and user acceptance criteria testing is done.

A dedicated project manager was our main point of contact throughout all projects. Members of the design and development team were also involved in projects throughout. There were three full-stack developers supporting the projects and two designers.

All projects delivered are to a high standard and have a good level of attention to detail. Overall projects delivered support wider campaign initiatives and contribute to engaged users, traffic, drive sales revenue and increase conversion rates.

We have weekly checkpoint meetings with their project manager and key members of the team to discuss project updates, new concepts and any other business.

We use Slack for quick communication and regular updates as well as Google VC tools such as Meet which work well with our team.

The ease of communication, ways of working and flexibility with the whole team at Eden. The guys are brilliant at responding to questions and requests quickly and professionally.

When launching new concepts or projects the process is always very simple, branching existing reusable code components could be used more to maximise efficiency.

Eden Agency was flexible to work with. The team went beyond the brief to introduce ways of learning about our users. What was the scope of their involvement?

They scoped and built two web journeys for applicants to a company coming to the London Stock Exchange. We helped bring that company to the exchange and supported individuals who were signing up for new stock and making cash investments. The second project provided access for our corporate customers. It has new self-serve functionality that allowed users to act more independently than before.

We've worked directly with about six people. They were involved in project management, scoping the project, coding the websites, and delivering initial tests of those sites.

We started working together around September 2018. We've found new things to develop upon, so their function is still evolving.

Our client was extraordinarily happy with the first piece of development and the kit they built out. That success led to further recommendations for future work.

We recently ran a UX day on the new technology in the second piece they’re working on. Every single user was extremely happy with those deliverables.

How did Eden Agency perform from a project management standpoint?

They are excellent project managers; we have no issues at all. I've dealt with IT people before, and this team is the most personable. They understand business and commerciality, and they deliver on their promises. I would not hesitate to continue this collaboration. I'm not certain what technologies they use from day to day, but most of our communication is through phone and email.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They're extremely reactive. I may occasionally need them to drop everything to tackle a special project. Most recently, when I asked them to turn work around quickly, they were available to meet with us the next day.

I’m the senior IT manager assigned to the shared service team at a global sourcing company for retailers worldwide. We employ 35,000 people globally. The remit of the company is to provision IT services to the retail group and make sure that we’re able to support the six businesses that we run out of Europe.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Eden Agency?

Our client was a business that produces the security tags that are attached to garments that protect the garment and alert security to the unauthorized removal of the garments from the store. These tags are sold to a number of retailers in the UK and USA. We hired Eden Agency to come up with a solution for an older web application whose costs were spiraling. We needed a solution that would enable us to fulfill the requirements of the business without being tied to any one business partner, so we needed a solution that was quite agnostic, and we were seeking a provider that wouldn't tie us into their services for the future.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We had made contact with Eden Agency’s commercial director while working on a small project with them previously. He engaged with us from the beginning and fully took part in the analysis phase. We also made several site visits to the company’s headquarters in the UK, where we worked with Eden Agency to create a business requirement specification. That was presented to our senior management, who signed off on the project. Craig at Eden Agency then worked with his team to develop a UAT solution for us, which we were able to use as a test to prove that the solution worked. We took that test all the way through to production. Eden Agency’s services included the development of all the web materials, including the conversation solution that was vital to the interaction with our retailers in the UK and USA.

The solution Eden developed was twofold. One was the provision of an ordering solution that the factories in Asia could use for the tags that were delivered to them, which they then attached to garments to ship back to the UK and USA. The other one was a service solution for the stores in the UK and the USA so that the company could manage the service delivery of the scanning equipment.

How did you come to work with Eden Agency?

We received two quotes from web development companies before we hired Eden Agency. We were happy with the amount of specification from both of them, but the Eden Agency solution was priced much better. We also had had a little experience working with Eden Agency previously, which led us to believe they could deliver again for us, but we basically chose Eden Agency on price.

How much have you invested with Eden Agency?

We probably spent about $150,000 on the first part of the project, and the second phase will cost around $120,000. We also have an ongoing support contract with Eden Agency, which is running around $15,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with Eden Agency around May 2016 when we engaged this client and were looking at the opportunities to replace the old legacy system. Our go-live date slipped slightly — by about a month and a half — but the product still was launched around November or December 2016.

We’re still engaged with Eden Agency. We’ve started a second phase on that particular project to enhance the features further, and we’ve also engaged with them on an additional project for another piece of work that relates to some high-level security tagging in the RFID environment.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?

I think it’s a little too early for us to have any decisive metrics. I’d want the project to run for another six months before doing that. One measure we can use is that we have not had any dissatisfactory reports from our customers or suppliers as a result of the implementation, and we haven't lost any business. I’m taking that as a positive.

How did Eden Agency perform from a project management standpoint?

I’ve been pleased with the development and responsiveness from the development team at Eden Agency. We were assigned an account manager for the first development, and he was our principal point of contact, although we were able to receive and respond to requests from the individual team members during the project.

When we first sat down with Eden Agency, we wanted to find a platform we could use to engage in project development and delivery. Eden Agency uses Asana, and we were pleased to use that as well. It allowed us to pass backward and forward issues and issue resolutions with them, and it allowed us to engage with their full team. It worked well.

What did you find most impressive about Eden Agency?

We particularly like the size and flexibility of Eden Agency. Their knowledge and skills in this area far outstrip our own, and we’ve been pleased with the knowledge they’ve shown and delivered for us. We’ve been dependent on them and their skills, and we haven't found anything to be lacking in that regard.

Are there any areas Eden Agency could improve?

I can't think of anything in particular on which Eden Agency could have improved. I’m happy with their work.

Please introduce your business and what you do there.

Our company is called Events House. We're a United Kingdom-based international event company. We have become world leaders in simulator hire and interactive event entertainment for a wide variety of clients. I am the company's director.

What challenge were you trying to address with the Eden Agency?

The initial involvement with Eden was to develop an app to help us deliver a format for a digital scoring application that we owned and managed. We needed an app created for an event purpose.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

The original services they provided were the build of a CMS [content management system] platform and an API [application programming interface] that could handle membership data taken from an iPad. The app took the member's details and photo. It published that data to a website that could handle a variety of competitions. They created the back-end and front-end for the system. They also populated a lead board that was shown locally to the clients.

That quite complex CMS project was Eden's initial creation. Subsequently, they've done other work for us, including a new website. We've approached them about numerous projects with relation to virtual and augmented reality. But, their main work so far was the creation of this quite bespoke CMS and API.

How did you come to work with the Eden Agency?

I think I initially found them on Google. I can't remember what I was originally searching for, but I got through to the director at Eden [managing director Andy Litherland]. I actually approached him quite a number of years ago related to a different project. I had a meeting with him, and he's technically confident. It was basically an old contact that I reinitiated.

I had approached a couple of other software developers, and we'd been working with a local developer. It became apparent quite quickly that Eden was operating at a much higher level. The pricing at the time was competitive. Eden's director came to a meeting with us and was extremely competent and obviously trustworthy. The original meeting gave us massive amounts of confidence in the Eden Agency.

We've spent a bit more than $50,000 working with them.

What is the status of this engagement?

The original call I made to them was probably four years ago. We actually integrated the CMS and API part of their work about two years ago. Since then, our relationship has been ongoing. They designed our website, which was launched last year. They do an ongoing SEO [search engine optimization] campaign for us on that site. We are currently having several discussions with them related to various other projects. The relationship is ongoing in every sense of the word.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?

The website has been hugely successful. We're getting strong SEO results and incredible design feedback. I think we've competed for some awards at that level. The website is the only project for which I have real success metrics. There really are no metrics on the API and entertainment part of their work, but we're very happy with the system, which has been very successful commercially – so I guess that's one good metric from our point of view. We've made a profit on the work they've done, which is good, and generated sales, which is even better.

How did the Eden Agency perform from a project management standpoint?

They have done really well. They opened our eyes to quite a structured way of working with a digital agency. They focused the process on very basic notions. They walked us through a very structured project management process, which I liked.

We had solid meetings and took a look at what we thought we knew. They listened to our ideas and then made sure that they understood what we were about. They outlined some excellent new processes. They used Basecamp, an excellent software platform for project management. They did a variety of things to keep us in the loop. The way they addressed project management was very modern and organized. Although young, they seem to have quite a mature perspective on project management.

What did you find most impressive about the Eden Agency?

They are very personable and very approachable. They're from my home county of Yorkshire, so they speak my language. I know they're busy, but they seem to find the time for us. Their methodical way of working is quite refreshing, quite professional. They're happy to work alongside us when we deal directly with clients. They're certainly very capable in creating client confidence. Overall, the Eden Agency is just a good company to work with.

Are there any areas the Eden Agency could improve?

I don't think so – there's anything negative to say. When they take on a project, they seem to deliver on it.

It might be helpful, however, to have a bit more clarification on the aftercare of projects, something that might clarify what support is part of the build and what is beyond the scope of the project and, therefore, billable. That's not a big thing, but I think perhaps a bit more clarity for their clients on that front would help.

BACKGROUND

Please introduce your business and what you do there.

I'm CEO of a company called Video Enhanced Observation. Our main product is VEO, an online app for improving professional practice. We also have an app that enables video recording and tagging of key moments of practical learning. We work across a number of different sectors, and we've worked with Eden all the way through.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with the Eden Agency?

I went to Eden Agency with the initial concept. As founders, we have a training background, but not a strong technical background. We went to them with the idea and the concept. We worked with them to produce the product.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We had quite a wide-ranging scope because they were using .NET development. In the early stages, they were involved in some of the project management. We scoped out the requirements together so that we could have a fully scalable solution. They used .NET and AngularJS for most of the work.

Could you describe one of the key features of the app itself?

The key feature is being able to timestamp live tag video as it's being recorded according to pre-assessed frameworks so that, when reviewing the video, the user can jump straight back to those moments while at the same time building up statistics on practice.

How did you come to work with the Eden Agency?

We put the initial concept out to three different companies, and Eden responded with the strongest proposal.

How much have you invested with the Eden Agency?

I would say somewhere between $50,000 and $200,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

The relationship began in the summer of 2013 – three years ago. The project is ongoing. We're still working with them, but not on the fundamentals of the products. We're continuing to develop the product with them. I would say that the main bulk of the product was finished around March this year. There's been periods where there's a lot of work going on and periods where there's been less going on.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?

We've been able to secure customers as soon as the products were launched. We've got blue chip clients across the United Kingdom. We've got Harvard University using the system for their research. We've got a number of universities in the U.K. and abroad. The flexible way that Eden Agency built the platform has allowed us to take advantage of all opportunities relevant to the concept. The success of the company so far is testament to their work.

How did the Eden Agency perform from a project management standpoint?

Their strength is in communication with us as the customer. They are very proactive in assisting us in managing the projects. They've always got their eye on the long term. They're not looking to make any short-term gains out of us. What they've always done is develop our products so that they are fully flexible, so that's enabled us to build up a great deal of trust over our three years of working together.

What did you find most impressive about the Eden Agency?

There are several things. They are always realistic in their estimates and very transparent in terms of the work they are doing and what that involves. This allows the company to be realistic in terms of our own development timelines. Again, it's been very quick and easy to build up a relationship of trust with them. Additionally, we're confident that whatever we ask them to do will result in very high quality results – in whatever the project may be. We have all around confidence in what we'll get from them.

Are there any areas the Eden Agency could improve?

To be honest – not really. I think they're strong all around.
