Built a HIPAA-eligible, four-agent AI platform that automates prior authorizations across our 18-hospital, 142-clinic network. The system reads clinical notes, checks medical necessity, assembles the payer package, and submits with a human reviewer stepping in only on complex cases.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
They designed a crew of four specialist AI agents (eligibility, medical necessity, documentation, submission) orchestrated on CrewAI, with Anthropic Claude 3.5 Sonnet doing the clinical reasoning across charts, imaging, and treatment history. Every draft is retrieval-augmented against a knowledge base of 285,000 of our historical PA decisions and cited back to payer policy. It integrates with our EHRs via FHIR R4 and HL7 v2. When confidence is low, the case is handed to our reviewer with the full transcript, drafted package, and cited policy clauses attached. Every override feeds a weekly retraining loop, so it keeps getting better.
