In gist, the measurable outcomes from the project primarily reflected the lack of progress and increased challenges rather than success.

Time and Delivery

• Project timeline was December 1, 2024 – January 5, 2025.
• Digital Jalebi did not complete work on time.
• Because of delays, our team had to do last-minute fixes during the concept phase itself.
• Important parts like flowchart, setup design and UI/UX were not done by them. Our team had to do it instead.

Technical Work and Readiness

• Abhishek, the project lead, did not know how to solve problems. Our team had to step in to fix things.
• The technical team was not skilled. Their work was not professional and not up to the required standards.

Budget and Cost Issues

• Digital Jalebi asked for more money many times, saying it was for last-minute changes.
• Even after increasing the budget, the work they did was not complete or good quality.
• Our team repeatedly raised issues till last to address and fix the issues.

On-Site Work and Professionalism

• The team did not want to come on-site for deployment, even though their presence was important.

They even threatened to leave the project halfway, making the situation worse.

In the end, our team had to complete most of the work. Digital Jalebi’s might seem significant, but their contribution was very little.  Their delays, not picking calls and responding to messages, unprofessional behaviour, and lack of knowledge made the project harder instead of helping it.

We hired Digital Jalebi as a tech partner for an important project.

We started discussing in November to begin work on December 1, and the work was supposed to be ready by early January. Their job was to make an interactive digital experience and a game, but they failed to deliver on time and didn’t act professional. They didn’t care about urgency or deadlines.

The project lead, Abhishek, was very unprofessional and confused all the time. He didn’t know much about the work and didn’t understand simple things about audience interaction. Instead of solving problems, he kept arguing about why he should be present for the deployment, which was a basic requirement. He also didn’t understand how important the timeline was.

The company says they are experts in tech, but their execution was poor, and their team didn’t know how to handle things. Their backend team had energy but were led by an arrogant boy with no proper skills and knowledge to manage big tech projects like ours.

We had to make the flowchart and setup design ourselves because they couldn’t provide anything useful especially within time. Even when the app development was needed in late December, the lead had challenges showing how little knowledge and leadership he had.

They also kept asking for more money at the last minute, saying it was for "adjustments," but they were just going over budget. They charged a lot for the project which was higher than the market rate. At one point, they even threatened to leave the project halfway, which is not professional at all. This was a time-sensitive project, and they didn’t respect that, despite telling them early on.

Overall, Digital Jalebi is not capable of handling big, important projects that are mass-led. They may work for small B2B tasks, but for larger things, they are not reliable. Their work was full of delays, unprofessional behavior and lack of expertise. Working with them was a bad experience.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

The backend team showed enthusiasm and some level of technical understanding, but unfortunately, they were led by an incompetent leadership who had less-to-no knowledge, no direction and questionable problem-solving ability. 

When the project lead, having little to no understanding of the task at hand, often confused mind, showing unprofessional behavior and unable to provide solutions when challenges came, by simply ignoring them, then this can only result in overall project failure.

Are there any areas for improvement or something DJ Interactive Labs could have done differently?

Yes, there are many things DJ Interactive Labs could have done better.

1. First, they should have had a proper leader who understands the work. Abhishek did not know anything, was confused, and did not handle the project well. 
2. Second, they should have respected the deadline and worked faster. They kept delaying and wasting time.
3. Third, they should have assigned someone with better skills and knowledge for big projects. We had to do a lot of their work for them.
4. Also, they should not ask for extra money at the last moment and should not threaten to leave the project.

If they fix these things, maybe they can do better in the future.

Scope of work was to create an AR object tracking based experience that uses interactive animations and UI elements to demonstrate vehicle's advanced features.

iPads & ARKit based stack was to be used looking at the scale of deployment, we had to standardize the hardware used. We also wanted to capture analytics of user interactions within the AR app hence it was also required to be integrated with our analytics backend systems.

The team follows an agile approach which is what we like best. Intially the project had a defined scope which was eventually updated by the client & both the teams still made sure this solution works and easy to use by the users.

We had a meeting to discuss the full scope of the project which included:

• building of a virtual event for 1 day event with 10 break out rooms
• the break out rooms has mainly prerecorded content (provided by us) but one of them was used for a live Q&A section

• 3D fly though and 360 degree click through in the environment

• 3D virtual renders of the clients products were created and put in the environment for visitors to interact with

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

Overall the final result delivered exceeded the clients expectations and everyone was happy. The only issue faced were some login issues with clients not being able to get into the space using their registered emails (from certain countries)

We had regular weekly meetings to ensure the progress of the project was on track and the team were flexible with the clients requests on when to schedule the event.

I was very impressed with the creativity and the proactiveness of the team. I knew I could rely on them to deliver what I had promised my client.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Perhaps in the future we could test the environment with users from different countries prior to the event going live to smooth out any login issues. Additionally some more analytic metrics could be added on the backend i.e. how many people and which people visited which booths etc

Initially, at the start of the project, we used to have meetings twice a week and post that, the project manager regularly updated us via emails or call. As the project was event-based, their involvement was thorough and professional.

Apart from their knowledge of the development, their planning and flexibility were the most impressive. They were open to feedback and quicker on working on them. This is one of the many reasons for our growing professional relationship with Digital Jalebi.

I can’t share specific metrics at this point. Apart from our project being confidential, we also haven’t launched the product yet — however, I can confirm that DJ Interactive - XR/AR/VR & Web has impressive design skills. It’s easy to visualize their final deliverable because they’ve incorporated our preferences and feedback well into their design solutions.

We communicate via email and weekly Zoom meetings. I personally think DJ Interactive - XR/AR/VR & Web’s project management skills can be better — we’ve encountered some delays that derailed our original plans, and there’ve been instances wherein our onshore team had to perform quality control on their behalf.

It simulated a Formula 1 pit stop and allowed users to compete against other players for the fastest tire change. They created the software, which had functionality that allowed the car’s branding to be modified according to the client’s requirements. We then activated it on site. DJ Interactive continues to provide various software solutions for us. So far, we’ve worked on about 50 projects.

They’ve developed virtual 3D platforms for us, and we’ve also had a few of our events on those platforms, which are hosted on a website.

Also, they’ve done custom coding and used predefined templates for a few platforms. It depends on the budget and the client.

We’ve done multiple projects with them in the event management space and AR/VR space. Right now, we’re building our OTT platforms which will be custom web apps. By the end of the year or early next year, DJ Interactive - XR/AR/VR & Web will build our mobile app. Essentially, we’re building a content platform for doctors. There’s a lot of content we supply, and DJ Interactive - XR/AR/VR & Web is putting all the content for doctors on this platform they’re building. 

The whole project is divided into four quarters. In the first quarter, they delivered the basic web version of the platform. Now, they’re working toward a more sophisticated version of the app. DJ Interactive - XR/AR/VR & Web is building a recommendation engine for us.
