DigiTrends must have utilized Project Management tools internally as they were able to swiftly communicate and meet their timelines. Agile Project Management methodology was used by their team.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

DigiTrends’ forte was their communication and quality of delivery. The best about doing business with them is their commitment to meet the timeline. They were keeping us informed of any challenges that could impact their releases.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

There’s always a room for improvement in the IT sector. I’d simply recommend them to keep their technology suit contemporary.

Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal (PBM), an autonomous body set up through 1991 Act. PBM is significantly contributing toward poverty alleviation through its various poorest of the poor focused services and providing assistance to destitute, widow, orphan, invalid, infirm & other needy persons, as per eligibly criteria approved by Bait-ul-Mal Board. I'm working as Director Information Technology since May 2018.

PBM hired the services of Digitrends for the automation of Beneficiary Management System (BMS) and our goal was to expedite the case processing of poor patients/beneficiaries by introducing paperless environment in the government sector.

Digitrends developed the MIS by using Laravel framework and introduced new features. Finally we achieved the target, deployed eBMS at national level and minimize the processing time up to 1-3 days.

The project was sponsored by M/S Novartis (Pharmaceutical company) and selected the Digitrends with their recommendation based on their technical experience and being a results-driven company.

Digitrends designed the solution and then developed a Laravel-based solution. They had sessions with end-users and relevant stack holders and designed the data flow and developed the portals/mock-ups for better understanding MIS functioning.

Executive steering committee approved the solution and allowed them to deploy and implement across the country. The final product was the completion of case (approval by competent authority), SMS delivery and issuance of cheque to hospital/beneficiary.

Digitrends had 5 people in the core team, including a project manager, designer, and 3 developers.

Firstly did soft launch and then finally deployed after successful results of mini pilot. Also signed the SLA with Digitrends to technical support and MIS up-gradation. Introduced the paperless environment including e-approvals for the first time in PBM

Our company is the leading manufacturer of quality Ophthalmology focused pharma products & we are the only WHO approved plant in Pakistan. Alongside that, they had powerful insights in helping us analyze the loopholes that would later bring value to our business using the platform that they would build. A mix of these was reason enough for our team to onboard them.

We hired DigiTrends to establish the cloud database infrastructure and automate the identity validation process. The Government of Pakistan launched a program “Pakistan Bait-ul-Maal”, to financially support the lowest tier of the poor population within the country. The real challenge that came with the manual system of Bait-ul-Maal by the Government of Pakistan was the delay in the process.

Any patient who is looking for grant money has to apply to the hospital; the file would transfer through courier services to the district or town for approval of the person's identity. Then, the hospital will receive the file back and process the grant further. The Goal was to be able to help the recipient-in-need, as quickly as possible by automating the verification process.

SOLUTION

DigiTrends had already done a cloud deployment for us before. Furthermore, their software development team was able to satisfy us with the work that they had previously done using contemporary DB tools and technologies.

Traditional Bait-ul-Maal Platform could take 4-6 months to process and offer a grant to a patient after the approval process, since it involved courier service. The main Scope of the Project was as follows:

1. Process and Offer Grants in Days
2. Create a relational Database on Cloud
3. Setup security infrastructure with encryption
4. Develop a front-end platform with the following features:

• Registration Module
• Integration with NADRA
• Search Feature
• Filters
• Grant approval/decline logging
• Reporting In order to reduce the delay time, MS.net and Azure Cloud Services were used. It was able to provide real-time data.

After the implementation of the system, DigiTrends has been able to maintain its upkeep. Albeit minor bugs, the system has performed well.

Agile Project Management with defined deliverables. Communication has mostly happened via emails but the company has shared project documentation that indicated they must be using internal tools. Milestones were timely met although some acceptable delays in testing did occur.

Communication has been the key throughout the process. The company excels at that.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

If they start automated testing, it could certainly save them more time.

Website was created using WordPress.
