The scope of work involved designing and developing a custom private Shopify application to integrate our SmartCart inventory system with our Shopify store.

The primary objective was to automate synchronization of products, pricing, inventory levels, and images between SmartCart and Shopify. Because the SmartCart API provided a minimal dataset, the team needed to architect custom sync logic to properly map fields, manage product creation and updates, and ensure ongoing data consistency.

What stood out most was their ability to work with a very minimal API structure and still architect a functional, stable integration. Our SmartCart endpoint provided limited fields and no extensive documentation, yet their team was able to design custom sync logic that handled product creation, pricing, inventory, and image updates effectively.

Their structured approach — assigning a developer, QA, project manager, and tech lead — also provided confidence that the project was being handled professionally and reviewed from multiple angles.

Are there any areas for improvement or something DevIT could have done differently?

As with most custom integrations, some refinements were needed after launch once we began operating the system in a live environment. In those situations, faster turnaround on post-launch questions would have been helpful, particularly given that the integration controls a core part of our product catalog.

That said, when issues were escalated, they were addressed and resolved.
