I'm a founder of SLON, full-service Digital and Video Marketing company. We help companies build and grow their digital business by creating outstanding visual content, marketing and digital products.

We needed to build a video streaming OTT solution for our new product. Our goal was to create a Video-on-Demand mobile app for iOS to distribute video content to mobile devices on subscription basis with focus on great user experience.

We got a recommendation from one of our partners who previously worked with Demjee and their team.

Demjee covered the full product development cycle. They designed the app UI with an interactive prototype to validate our initial product vision. Their tech team led by a solution architect did research with deep consideration for product vision and available technology.

Based on the research results they proposed a solution which suited our business needs perfectly. The app was then implemented in short cycles with close attention to our feedback.

During the idea validation and design stage we worked with a designer and a project manager. During the development stage the team consisted of their solution architect, two developers, QA and PM.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

The app was successfully built. All project goals were achieved on time. We’re now running in-house pre-launch testing and the feedback we are getting from our internal QA team is very positive.

Initially we thought of hiring more developers to speed up the app development but Demjee recommended the best team composition based on their experience and project specifics. That allowed us to save some budget yet still meet the objectives in terms of the project completion date.

They were very transparent in what they were doing and extremely accountable. Their project manager was a great communicator who regularly updated us on the project progress. That approach allowed to build trust really quickly.

The whole team was very connected with us throughout the entire process, they were very attentive to our feedback. Besides, they weren’t shy to share their own ideas on what the final product should look like and how it can be made even better.

We were impressed by their technical experience and user-focused approach. I’d also admit their dedication to building a great product. Every single person on Demjee’s team genuinely cared about what they were doing.

When we were staring the project we were convinced that we had a perfect vision of the product we wanted to build but their team really helped us to find solutions to make it better.

The scope of work included the designs for profile setup and creation, membership activation with both basic and premium optionality, map display, date creation and date summary pages, a chat feature, a profile verification feature, a "check-in" feature for use at the date, a notifications section, a profile editing section, a settings adjustment section, and more. 
Demjee even went above and beyond and designed for extra scenarios like double/triple dating (which required a substantial amount of work) for minimal additional cost. They are very reasonable and will work with you to get your vision executed without breaking the bank.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

I met with the Demjee team regularly once or twice per week to review the new work they had done, provide feedback, answer outstanding questions they had for me to direct the design, and set goals for the following meeting. Each meeting, they had my comments fully incorporated and had additional insights on how certain things could be improved and designed more optimally. The process was quite smooth and the work quality was high. They agreed that the project wasn't finished until I was 100% satisfied with the end product.

Demjee consistently delivered items on time. On the rare occasion they needed extra time, they told me in advance so we could reschedule our meeting and plan accordingly. Whenever I asked for something to be done, they always responded within 24 hours and executed the task swiftly.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Demjee provides very high-quality app design work for a very reasonable cost. I've shown many app developers the work Demjee did for me, and they were all blown away by how nice and professional it looked. On top of that, Dmitry and the team were a pleasure to work with. They take a real interest in your project and go above and beyond to deliver what the client wants. I wouldn't change a thing if I were to restart this process.

Are there any areas for improvement or something Demjee could have done differently?

Our project extended for 4-5 months which was longer than expected, but this was mainly due to the complexity of the app and the fact that I personally had limited availability to meet during the week and provide feedback. There was also a slight language barrier between me and the lead designer, but Dmitry was able to bridge that gap nicely.

Demjee helped us with both backend and frontend development. When we started we had a basic architecture that needed to be built from and they were able to provide us with a lot of expertise in defining software architectural design, helped to create logic and build certain functions, and integrate into the frontend.

As for the outcomes, the modules their team created are of great quality. We mostly measure the success of the engagement with their team by doing code review and their performance was great – the solutions they implemented were consistent and done with attention to maintainability and the solution’s future growth.

As a CTO I consider good communication and the awareness to proactively discuss issues to be the key for successful collaboration with an augmented team we’re working with. The Demjee team has proved to be highly effective in that regard. Their team has been very responsive to our needs and requests. I’d also emphasize their technical expertise and willingness to proactively discuss technology solutions before doing them.

I interviews several dozen designers and design agencies as a part of researching my business idea, which is a product for designers. My conversations with Demjee stood out as being smart and dynamic. Demjee also took me through their process which seemed very mature.

We started with wireframe UX ideas for how the product would work. Over time we have switched between general discussion, UX & wireframe creation, and more in-depth design.

We hired Demjee to help us with the development of a live-streaming mobile application with AR functionality.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We needed a technical partner with deep experience in building mobile apps with live video streaming features and hands-on experience in working with Apple’s ARKit. We chose Demjee because they demonstrated the requested skills during the pre-sales consultations and because of their previous experience in building apps with similar functionality.

Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.

We are working on a product that uses augmented reality (AR) to provide remote assistance for troubleshooting and problem-solving. The app is used by companies providing maintenance and repairing services for e.g. electrical or mechanical equipment in order to connect remote experts with field workers and allows to improve the quality of diagnostic and repairing services.

The main challenge of the project was to integrate video streaming with augmented reality (AR) so that users could draw and annotate on the live video stream, providing clear and precise instructions. Demjee proposed a solution architecture for the required product features which was turned into a project plan to outline when each part of the project would be developed.

How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

We worked with Demjee’s development team which included two backend engineers, two iOS developers, QA and PM. They handled infrastructure setup, development of backend, iOS app development and integration as well as the quality assurance of the product.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

The app is successfully built and our clients we sell this product to are pretty impressed how smoothly it works. We continue working with Demjee in adding more AR features to it. Currently they are working on the feature to recognise objects on live video stream so that the app can give users quick access to technical documentation they might need while doing troubleshooting and repairing.

Communication with their team was very clear and transparent. We really valued Demjee’s prompt responses to our inquiries, and clear explanations of technical issues and how the team was going to solve them. Our product manager worked with Demjee’s PM to communicate our priorities in product development and provide feedback on intermediate app builds. The initial project plan was used to track the project progress and adjust it when necessary. Everything was very professional.

We were most impressed by their technical skills. A lot of attention was paid to optimize the app performance to make it fast and responsive, and their team was great at that.
