Since we launched our Omni-Channel platform, we have reduced our inventory by 15% without affecting our sales. We've also improved our online sales by 20% because of the availability of the products.

The whole project was well collaborated. We used to have weekly meetings with the items at hand and closure details.

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

The system was built incrementally which helped us operationalize and streamline our warehouse operations. This gave us early visibility of the things that worked and things that didn't.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

We followed agile way of doing things and had detailed calls both in-person and remote to discuss the various scenarios and the immediate requirements. We used collaborative tools like Slack for communications and Asana to keep track of the progress of the project.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Their in-depth knowledge of warehouse management solutions helps us look at things from a futuristic view. Many of the features that we needed eventually were thought about initially during project setup which reduced the time for development in subsequent releases. The team did a wonderful work with the code structure that helped our employees to add new features over the existing code base.

DeepSpace9 Technologies revamped our website in under five months. It now more accurately reflects our organization. While we lack exact metrics, site traffic increased following its launch, and users have praised the new design.

Despite some ambiguities in the beginning, the project went smoothly. We held multiple in-person meetings and online calls, but we primarily coordinated via Slack. They were highly accessible from start to finish.

We had some miscommunication in the beginning: our teams first agreed that we’d hire an external designer, but DeepSpace9 Technologies later provided us with an in-house designer. We ultimately resolved the situation together, but I would have preferred to avoid it in the first place.

I’m a technology lead at Good Earth Design Studio. Our 22-year-old company is one of the premier names in India within its industry segment. We have multiple locations and a robust web presence.

What challenge were you trying to address with DeepSpace9 Technologies?

After falling short on resources, we needed support from a company who understood React.js and could deliver the frontend of a website.  We engaged DeepSpace9 Technologies for web development services as we revamped our website.

What was the scope of their involvement?

DeepSpace9 Technologies handled all the coding as we changed our existing website from .NET to Python. We’ve given them two project assignments so far. For the e-commerce aspect of our site, they developed a mini-cart and checkout process. They built a couple of single-page applications, as well.

Based on the designs we shared with their team, DeepSpace9 Technologies performed the backend Python integration. They developed several modules for payments and to display our inventory through the customer interface. Upon completion, they conducted QA testing for all the deliverables and resolved any challenges we experienced.

A partner gave us a referral, so we reached out to initiate contact. We ran a proof-of-concept trial with multiple companies in consideration. We’ve evaluated DeepSpace9 Technologies based on their conformance with our requirements and the quality of the code they programmed. The fulfilled our expectations within both parameters.

DeepSpace9 Technologies managed the project to our satisfaction.  They sent us emails on a regular basis and delivered their work on time. We gave them project requirements through Jira.

Communication is the only area where they could improve. The project updates they gave us weren’t as timely as we wanted. Most likely, this was due to the high volume of work they had to deliver. These demands left little time for a proper project management process.

DeepSpace9 Technologies is a professional group to engage as a partner. It’s essential to ensure that assets are delivered from the client’s side. Providing these materials will help future customers avoid challenges and maintain their desired timelines

I am the co-founder of StarQuik, which is an online grocery business operating in India for just over a year. We are in the process of expanding the business to other cities; we are presently in Bombay and Bangalore.

What challenge were you trying to address with DeepSpace9 Technologies?

We needed to build a serviceability polygon as we are a very geo-specific business. We have about 40 stores operating that only do business offline, but making our product available online would increase the flow because we are sitting right in our customer’s backyard.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We wanted to create a serviceability polygon that was more systematic and scientific based on delivery time and traffic. Based on our business constraints, we laid out the problem to DeepSpace9, and they were able to build a system for us.

The system was built using PHP and is integrated with specific Google Maps APIs. That integration is done in such a way that we are able to optimize the API calls to Google to minimize the response time and cost. Now, when a customer logs on to our website, they enter their delivery location and they are given the response time information.

What is the team composition?

We interacted directly with the founder, Manish. There were also a couple of his colleagues that worked on the project.

How did you come to work with DeepSpace9 Technologies?

I heard about Manish when he was in a previous role with another business. When he moved to DeepSpace9, I felt this was something he could help us with because he had the technical capability to do it.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together on this project from May–June 2017.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The system has seen close to half a million users. In terms of scalability of response times, we track that very closely and the API calls are returned in less than 50 milliseconds. In that sense, the system needs are fairly robust and agile.

This product is essentially the gateway to our entire site; it is a core system for us. Without the system functioning, users would not have key information they need for a delivery.

How did DeepSpace9 Technologies perform from a project management standpoint?

Once the estimate and approach were approved by both sides, they began the work and kept us updated on the milestones that were written in the project information document (PID). We communicated through email, did demos over Skype, and met in person sometimes as well.

They were on the ball when it came to project management. There were some changes along the way on our side and they accommodated those changes well. They had the understanding and maturity to build a flexible system that allowed changes to be incorporated easily.

What did you find most impressive about them?

DeepSpace9 took it upon themselves to learn how to work within the needed frameworks and incorporate them into our platform. From an architecture and design point of view, their ideas are simple and focused on being robust and scalable. They understand that, over a period of time, the system evolves and people will want to add more bells and whistles. The system is built in such a way that you can make those customizations as you move forward.

Are there any areas they could improve?

It would be good for them to showcase their strengths when pitching different types of projects to potential clients. Though we haven’t tested them on larger projects such as app development, for example, I am sure that if they showcase that strength a bit more, people would respond to it.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Be very clear about what you want and that should be expressed in the PID. There should be one round of a deep-dive discussion in which the priorities are communicated clearly. It is more about doing the homework, then getting down to the execution.

I’m the director of customer acquisition for Insignia Art Collect, an e-commerce platform where artists can upload and sell their art. We have 2,000 artists and over 2,000 pieces of original, contemporary art registered on the website. The platform is meant to promote young artists and art graduates, enabling them to showcase their work as they usually don’t have access to top galleries.

What was the scope of their involvement?

They’ve been our tech partner for SEO and have optimized our UI to improve our load times on mobile and desktop devices so that we could boost organic growth. DeepSpace9 also developed and implemented an online auction platform into the website.

We handle Google Analytics tracking, Google AdWords, and other paid advertising in-house.

We’ve seen a 30–40% improvement in load times and were able to gain a twofold increase in organic growth in a period of four to six months.

We had a good experience with them. We set out objectives and they delivered, performing well in terms of project management. They were accessible through email and we had them visit our office once a week.

Similar to other Indian companies, they are hungry and they want to impress with their artwork. We’ve gotten a greater ROI from DeepSpace9 compared to bigger agencies. They stand out in terms of commitment, project management skills, and technical expertise.

They’re a growing company with limited resources. We haven’t faced any issues in this sense, but it can be a problem for small companies that can’t work with them face-to-face.

I’m the head of operations for a fashion brand called bhane. We’re an omnichannel retailer, selling apparel in our online stores as well as our brick and mortar shops.

We wanted to develop an omnichannel retail strategy for our brand. Initially, we used Shopify to manage our online store. However, we quickly realized Shopify’s limitations and decided to create our own site. As a result, we needed resources to build a custom e-commerce platform that we could eventually scale up.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

They’ve developed a platform for us from scratch using PHP to host our online store. The structure of the platform allows us to continually add features, including SEO, personalized discounts, and improved organization. For example, the platform allows us to group multiple colors of the same product together.

Additionally, they added an automated notification system that sorts our customers based on their shopping behavior. The system sends new users a thank you note or a discount to personalize their shopping experience. It also tags users who’ve ordered more than four times within a six-month period with a badge, which lets us better target our email campaigns. We’re currently planning to build an internal warehouse management system (WMS) on top of our platform and fixing any bugs.

What is the team composition?

I mostly work with their CTO who assigns the project tasks to three different teams: one for management, another for bugs, and the last for new functionalities.

I found them through a friend while working with their CTO on another project. As such, I was somewhat familiar with their team. When conceiving our platform, we were looking for an agency that could function more as a partner than an outsourced group. What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The platform went live in 2017 to outstanding success. Because their system allowed us to invest heavily in SEO, we grew our organic traffic by 25% within the first six months. We also saw significant improvements in our site speed. Compared to our previous site, our average page loading time dropped from 30 seconds to 10–12. Overall, the new features that were unavailable on Shopify drastically improved our site performance.

How did DeepSpace9 Technologies perform from a project management standpoint?

They use an agile methodology, working on project tasks as they come. Once a month, I meet with the CTO and their management team to prioritize our objectives. We use Google Docs and Basecamp to manage the project, and we also keep a running list of future requests. Because they organize their teams by specific tasks, we’re able to efficiently contact the proper team for bugs or feature enhancements. In terms of communication, we spoke via email, phone, and WhatsApp, and they’re always available 24/7.

I appreciated their in-depth understanding of e-commerce and their ability to make our ideas reality.

Are there any areas they could improve?

One of the biggest challenges that startups face is limited resources, and sometimes prioritizing those resources can become a problem. However, they’ve added a few more people over the last several months.

If you’re looking to build a smart, technical system, be open to their advice and listen to them because the team is very forward thinking. But if you’re inflexible with your own technical ideas, it might be difficult to work effectively.
