I am the owner and creator of Confident Writer’s Course, an online writing tutoring business.

What challenge were you trying to address with Cymbol?

I was an elementary school teacher for 14 years, so when it comes to running a small business and building a website, I don’t have a lot of experience. I really needed help building my website. 

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Cymbol built my website on Wix, starting from the ground up. I gave them an outline of what features I wanted, including a chat box, about me and how-to videos, an about me page, centrally-located login buttons, and links to the learning portal. 

After providing my ideas and requirements, I put together some copy for the website, including blog posts. The Cymbol team then provided me with a brand name, brand voice, and logo. Once we finalized the initial branding pieces, their team provided me with a few website mockups, and we had several meetings to discuss the layout, themes, and fonts. From there, they developed the website following my specifications. Cymbol even ensured that I would be able to access the chat box from my phone. 

Since the initial design and development, we’ve added Zoom and Calendly to the website to facilitate online tutoring and so users can meet with me. The Cymbol team also just integrated Hotjar with the website so I can begin to track website visits. Once my contract is up with Wix,​​ Cymbol will take over hosting and maintaining the website.

When I first interviewed Cymbol, I met with Aaron (Lead Designer), who served as a project manager, and a web developer. There was another teammate that provided me with logo mockups. 

How did you come to work with Cymbol?

I initially tried to design the website on my own, but I was still teaching full-time and writing content for the business. I realized I didn’t know what I was doing and so I requested professional assistance via Wix and received pitches from multiple designers. 

I picked Cymbol’s initial proposal email out because it was well-written, and I liked what I saw from their website. When I met with Aaron and his team over Zoom, I was impressed. Aaron was very knowledgeable and open to listening to my input. I didn’t entertain meetings with other designers because I felt that Cymbol and I would have a good working relationship.  

How much have you invested with them?

I invested $2,500 with Cymbol during the first contract. 

What is the status of this engagement?

My first contract with Cymbol was from April–October 2021.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

I’m satisfied with how Cymbol took my ideas and used their creative genius to get a dynamic website up and running. In the last three weeks, I’ve had 322 site visits and 266 unique visitors. On average, users spend 1–2  minutes on the website, watching the videos and reading the content. Hotjar provides me with feedback on what users are clicking on, and I’m happy so far with the results since I’ve launched. 

I haven’t made any sales yet, but it is a very niche business, so I’m not too discouraged. However, I’ve gotten a lot of positive user feedback about the website. 

They provided a quality product, and now we’re talking about starting a second contract so they can take over my marketing and advertising. 

How did Cymbol perform from a project management standpoint?

I was really impressed by Cymbol’s project management. There were no hiccups in our communication; everything was very clear. Even when Cymbol was busy and the team couldn’t meet, they kept me informed, and we’d quickly reschedule. 

Aaron used Calendly to schedule Zoom meetings, but we usually communicated over email.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Coming from elementary education to the small business world was a huge change in my career, and there were so many questions I didn’t know to ask. I was really impressed by how many resources, helpful tips, and information Aaron gave me that I didn't know about before. 

He pushed me towards apps and websites to help me learn how to improve website traffic and my business, including Thinkific. Aaron was really knowledgeable, and I appreciated the extra advice he gave me. Cymbol went above and beyond — they gave me a lot more information to help my business than I would’ve gotten from any other website developer. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

I have no complaints.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Clients need to follow up on the advice Aaron provides — the more time clients put into the beginning to understand the web development world, the easier communication is. Also, clients need to be willing to listen and know when to put their foot down about what their company needs.

I’m a communications professional, and I mainly do work in the humanitarian and foreign aid arena.

What challenge were you trying to address with Cymbol?

I needed someone to build a website and capture my work portfolio in a way that would attract clients and possible job opportunities.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Cymbol built and developed my website. The first step was figuring out the structure of the website, as well as how to convey and disseminate the materials and information. We also discussed the visual elements such as colors and other accouterments that would bring the story of my work to life. After about an hour of discussion, they gave me a survey for my goals and targets so I can rank each one by impact — we used this questionnaire as the baseline to build the site.

Within 24 hours, we had a mockup of the design and from there, we fine-tuned each section such as the titles, contact information, as well as a calendar feature. After making sure all my information and portfolio were on there, we managed to close off the project within 48 hours.

What is the team composition?

I just primarily worked with the owner of the company. He and I had a great rapport and in fact, I’ll be reaching out to work with him again in the next 30–60 days.

How did you come to work with Cymbol?

We decided to work together based on their approach, and how we seemed to build a rapport very quickly. They quickly understood where I was coming from because I was very open and direct about my needs.

How much have you invested with them?

We invested a little over $1,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together in September 2021.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We don’t really have any metrics at this point since we just launched the website. I’ve only sent it to several people for casual feedback, and they all thought it was very well done and efficient — they believe it’ll lead me to a number of new job opportunities.

How did Cymbol perform from a project management standpoint?

They performed beautifully from a project management standpoint. Everything was well done and incredibly organized, from the shared documents to the actual site. They were very meticulous about scheduling meetings and made sure we were both on board at certain times.

Additionally, they were incredibly flexible, devoted, and professional. They did an incredible job of achieving everything we discussed during our previous meetings, and we mainly communicated through Zoom, email, and text.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I was impressed with how they were able to accomplish this project and capture my vision in just three days. The way it was done just blew me away, especially with how intricate my line of work is. They helped me build opportunities, and I would go back to them as much as I possibly can to get more work done.

Are there any areas they could improve?

There was this one instance in the project where they didn’t iterate a feature in the way that I wanted. They were still able to meet our goals, but it would’ve been better if they could’ve been a little more forthright about it — then again, I understand that would be hard to do when you’ve got a very limited amount of development time.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

I would suggest meeting with Aaron (Lead Designer) at the start of the engagement so he can figure out your needs. He’s got a good amount of tools that can take you where you need to go before you get into the other areas of his expertise.

I’m the CEO and co-founder of Lotus Brand Co, a monthly subscription box for eco-friendly and 100% plastic-free beauty and hygiene products.

What challenge were you trying to address with Cymbol?

I was on Wix, but I was having a hard time creating a site that looked the way that I wanted to, so Cymbol helped me build it to handle the traffic that I anticipated.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Cymbol built our website from scratch on Wix. It allows a subscription payment, has a blog, and features our products and our box. As we buy wholesale products from other small businesses, featuring our box was very important because it has our logo on it.

Cymbol also helped us design that logo. We had a full month of engagement focusing on building our brand, defining the fonts, and designing the needed assets.

Throughout that process, they had us pick out different logos from well-known companies to get an idea of the style that we liked. Then, they sent us 4–6 different logo options, and we selected one of them.

Now, Aaron (Lead Designer) constantly meets with me and guides me along the back work needed to create the content for the site. Initially, he did a lot of backend research to define the photography that we needed to use, and he also provided me with great feedback on my own product photography.

Aaron has helped us create categories to make inventory and sales easier, as well as to add a cadence to how we send the products out. We organized what we should be sending and how often, instead of just picking five products for the box each month. For example, we now send bamboo toothbrushes every 90 days because that is how often they should be replaced.

Additionally, Aaron always sends me resources for SEO marketing, and he tells me what I need to create a complete e-commerce business. Although that wasn’t part of the initial scope, we’re still working on growing and learning how SEO works for Wix e-commerce sites, and they keep our communication channels open to solve my questions.

What is the team composition?

I’ve worked directly with Aaron and another person, who worked on the brand design. However, I know that more employees from Cymbol have worked on our project, but I’m not sure how many.

How did you come to work with Cymbol?

Cymbol and a few other web designers were recommended to me by Wix when I posted questions in the platform’s chat feature about my struggles with my site. We called four different web designers from those recommendations, and we chose to go with Cymbol based on their good communication skills. They promised what they’ve delivered.

I’ve spent around $2,500.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working in February 2021, and our engagement is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Our site is very professional and user-friendly, and thanks to Cymbol’s work, it is very clear what we’re selling. We have a page set up that describes the products on the monthly box, including a photo and a brief description of each product. Additionally, the logo that we selected is clean, elegant, and geometrical, so we feel that it goes well with our brand.

Before launching, we posted a lot of coming soon posts on social media, so we built an initial excitement. Thus, launch day was very successful, and within five days, we had over 190 email subscribers. I hope to see more sales thanks to this result, but the rest is on me.

How did Cymbol perform from a project management standpoint?

I would rate Cymbol’s project management 10/10. They give me email updates and arrange meetings. Additionally, they’ve followed up after building the site, becoming a true business partner.

The delays we’ve had have been on our side. Waiting on business licenses so that we could order the products and actually ordering and receiving them took time, and we needed them to take the photographs.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Cymbol offers consistent communication, and they always go back to our brand to ensure that we’re following its guideline — these are our values and the pillar that we stand by.

Working with them, I got more than a website; I got a business partner whom I trust and who wants the same kind of success for my company as I do. I’m really impressed with them.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I’ve never started a business before, so I don’t have any constructive criticism. They’ve done a great job overall.

I’ve personally felt that I consistently reach out to Cymbol for help outside of their scope. Thus, they could maybe set up some boundaries when something is not part of their job. However, that’s not my call, and I’m really appreciative that they’ve helped me with things aside from the website.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Ask all the questions you need, and take notes. They’re very knowledgeable and valuable.

I’m the CEO and founder of Scholars, Inc. We offer education and vocational training programs to youths ages 10–17 in Indianapolis, Indiana. Our group provides programs and experiences to the community through nonprofit organizations.

What challenge were you trying to address with Cymbol?

When we first started, we had a lot of paperwork and registration forms to handle. There was a lot of back and forth communication between us and the youths’ parents. As such, we needed to streamline the process by creating a website.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Aaron (Lead Designer) helped me build a website and a portal for the organization. Cymbol designed everything about the website. I reviewed the designs they came up with, and they implemented the small changes that I provided. Through the portal, parents in my email list could communicate with me whenever we release a program. 

At present, Aaron provides consulting services for my website. Whenever I’m busy or I have new programs, Cymbol handles work for the site. I also consult with Aaron every time I want to do something for the website, such as animations. When I consult him, he shows me different websites and gives me tips as he answers my questions. 

What is the team composition?

I mainly work with Aaron, and he has a team of between 5–7 people.

How did you come to work with Cymbol?

I met Cymbol and Aaron through one of my supervisors. That supervisor was an entrepreneur, and he mentioned the team to me. Simply put, they were a word-of-mouth recommendation. I learned that they did a good job, so I hired them. 

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent around $17,000. When I consult with Aaron, I pay $250 per hour. 

What is the status of this engagement?

We started building the website around September 2020, and we still work together.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

I can’t put into words how much help Cymbol has given our organization. Since creating the website, I’ve had 600 people on my email list. Whenever I release programs to the community, parents can sign up through the registration form I release via my email. Overall, this process is nice and neat, and it’s truly streamlined. 

Moreover, I don’t deal with too much paperwork anymore; everything is cloud-based. I haven’t had any issues with the website in terms of ease of access. It's been easier for me to contact parents and do things more quickly as opposed to having to go home and going through a file cabinet.

How did Cymbol perform from a project management standpoint?

For project management and communication, we use emails frequently. Then, Cymbol sends contracts through Dubsado. We also use phone calls. If I need anything, I can pick up the phone and give Aaron a call, especially when I don’t have the time to type up an email and wait for a response. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

Cymbol’s expertise and knowledge about the web development process are the best parts of working with them. Aaron is an expert and a professional; he delivers on time, so we never have to track him down — we don’t worry that he'll disappear with our money. 

Moreover, a lot of other people want to get a website for a cheap price, but we pay for the quality that we want. In relation to that, I’m highly satisfied with Aaron. Other developers simply tell me their pricing and ask me whether I’ll go with them or not. By contrast, Aaron is highly organized. Meanwhile, I’m connected with a lot of organizations in the city. Since I’m happy with my website now, I always tell those organizations to drop the paperwork and create a website through Cymbol.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, there aren’t any. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Communicate well with Cymbol, and be available. Most of the time, customers expect vendors to reach out or reply within 24 hours or quicker. On the flip side, customers often take a while to respond. Instead of doing that, you should always be there and available to them during the project.

What challenge were you trying to address with Cymbol Design?

We hired Cymbol to create our website because didn’t know anything about web design.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Cymbol created our Wix website, and they also did a bit of marketing for us. We didn’t give them documentation, but they gave us a branding questionnaire to help us shape who we were. From there, they designed our logo based on how we wanted our third-party customers to view us.

On top of that, they integrated Stripe and Shippo into the platform. They also assisted us in creating a blog and place where our end users could make appointments through the website. Overall, their main goal was to make our brand known to our target audience.

What is the team composition?

Aaron (Lead Designer) was my main point of contact, and there were 4–5 other people on his team, including a logo designer, web designer, and marketing specialist.

How did you come to work with Cymbol Design?

We found them through Wix. We made a request and Aaron was the first person to contact us. It was also easy to schedule the first consultation on their calendar. Our initial conversation was great, and they were able to explain the basics of marketing and advertising to us. We decided to engage with them the next day.

The cost of their work was $2,500, not including Wix costs.

What is the status of this engagement?

Our collaboration ran from January-May 2021. The site should’ve been completed sooner, but it took us a long time to give them the pictures and the content.

Aaron hit it on the nose with the logo the first time. They also proposed having a live video on the site, which helped us stand out from our competitors. He also came to our shop event, even though it wasn’t part of his plan; he was on standby for us, in case we needed something changed on the website. With his support, we got $700 in sales after the website had been live for less than 48 hours.

How did Cymbol Design perform from a project management standpoint?

Aaron was very responsive, and he always got back to us with whatever we needed. We usually talked over the phone or on Zoom — whichever was more convenient for me. We also met him personally. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

The quality of their service was impressive. We highly appreciated that Aaron held our hand throughout the project, and he was flexible in terms of designing the website.

No, they had no areas to improve.

Listen to Aaron because he’s very knowledgeable. I’ve referred him to a lot of people already, and I’ve used him for my other businesses.

The initial benchmark was to launch it on time, and that was successful. The project got underway last week, so we’ll judge the product based on the site visitors and the memberships. What we can say is that we were impressed with the communication and the quality of their work — our website is beautiful, and we’re happy with it.

How did Cymbol Design perform from a project management standpoint?

They were great; I was also impressed with their organizational management. We mostly communicated through email and Zoom calls. We also used Google Docs and Google Drive to share materials to load up.

Their expertise and their understanding of the concept we were hoping to achieve were outstanding for us — they handed out a nice product.

I don’t think there’s anything they can improve on — this was my first remote project, and I was satisfied in all aspects.

Have a clear understanding of your timeline and communicate it to them. Also, be mindful of the scope and expectations of the engagement, and be able to let them know so they can custom the project for you.

I’m the operations manager of two businesses, Irvington Coworking and Irvington Event Center. We’re still a new company, and our owner purchased our building almost two years ago.

We didn’t have a website for our two businesses. Since we had different audiences for each brand, we wanted Cymbol Design to create two websites for us.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Cymbol Design developed our two Wix websites from scratch. Though our two businesses were different in nature, we still wanted to show through our brand and logo that they were connected somehow. 

Apart from that, we wanted the team to ensure that each of our platforms had its own brand identity too. We also wanted the two sites to be interlinked with each other. For example, at Irvington Event Center site, we had a link at the top that redirects a user to the Irvington Coworking site.

I worked with Aaron (Lead Designer) directly, and he had a team that helped him finish the project.

How did you come to work with Cymbol Design?

I met Aaron through Irvington Coworking since he was a member there. He bought a monthly membership and worked a few weeks in our office space. I liked networking with people, so I approached Aaron. 

As a result, I found out about his work and things just happened organically. We weren’t really looking for a company to develop our websites, but after meeting with him and looking at his proposal, we were impressed by his presentation. Above all, Aaron offered a great price so we went ahead and started the project together.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

We recently launched our websites, and we’re just getting started with our marketing and advertising efforts this week. The only way for people to know us right now is through Yelp, Google, Facebook, or word-of-mouth recommendation.

It was awesome that once we had our website, I was able to post it on Facebook, and by Monday, I received an email from Wix. I saw that someone had visited our website, signed up online, and bought a monthly membership. It was a seamless process because of the automation aspect of the website. Overall, I was happy and amazed by everything. 

How did Cymbol Design perform from a project management standpoint?

Aaron was really great — he gave me user flow diagrams and a timeline that explained the detailed process of what they were working on. He also set up phone calls and shared his screen whenever we needed. Most importantly, he was in our building and that allowed us to test things out. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

What really hooked us was Cymbol Design’s proposal. We appreciated that we were able to see their work in the past, especially the websites that they had done that were similar to the project that we wanted to complete. It was cool to see because it answered all of my questions about what our process would look like. They were amazing, and I’d refer them to anybody.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Honestly, we didn’t have any problem with Cymbol Design. Our engagement was perfect.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

I was upfront with Aaron since I didn’t know the right questions to ask, but since he knew what he was doing, he guided me to the processes I needed to know. What I would want to say to their future customers is to go through the discovery process that I went through. From there, they’ll know what they need and what they want to ask from Aaron.

I’m the co-owner and a heart-centered life coach of an organization called Sun Rise Within. We do coaching sessions to help people overcome their mental and physical challenges and adversities in a peaceful and conscious manner. We consider these challenges to be an invitation to go within and find the power to overcome them so we can find inner peace.

I was trying to build a website on my own. I put in a lot of effort and time but figured that I wouldn’t be able to create a site at the same level as a designer. Therefore, I needed someone to help us design a professional-looking website. That’s why we hired Cymbol Design.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We designed the website in four phases. The first phase was the brand design, which Cymbol Design did by putting our ‘why’ into words to figure out our mission statement and who our audience was. I thought that building a website was just putting together the right pictures and other elements, but there’s much more than that. For example, I didn't expect to have to come up with our mission, but this was actually crucial for designing and developing  the website. 

The second phase was the user flow. They designed a diagram that showed all the information about the users such as what they’d click on and where they’d go. This diagram was used to basically design the website. 

In the third and fourth phases, we put everything together, the branding and UX, and came up with a website that serves the mission that we were trying to accomplish, which was inner peace and extension of consciousness.

I communicated with Aaron (Lead Designer). I’m not sure how many people worked on the project.

How did you come to work with Cymbol Design?

I found them on a Wix listing when I was trying to design my website. I had more than one interview before finding Aaron. He understood the dynamics of the business that I did, which was life coaching. Additionally, he was really passionate and cared about what he did. He showed me some examples of websites that he’d done that were related to my business. 

He also talked about the ‘why’ and the branding, which set Cymbol Design apart from other companies that seemed to only focus on designing the website. Aaron went further into understanding the business and then designed the website based on that. All of these aspects played a role in building trust.

The website was finished around 10 days ago. However, the feedback we’re getting from people is that it’s a great website and it can be trusted, which was my main objective. 

How did Cymbol Design perform from a project management standpoint?

We had great communication. We talked through email and texting; they were on point. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

The most impressive thing about working with Cymbol Design was focusing on what was really important. Business owners sometimes focus on aspects that aren’t  the priority of the project, and that can take a lot of time. In contrast, Cymbal Design always brought us back on track to focus on what really mattered, which saved us a lot of time.

Aaron gave me honest feedback. Even if I disagreed or didn’t like the feedback, he was honest and transparent, which helped in carrying on a project like this. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

Honestly, there’s nothing to be improved that I can think of right now.

Any advice for potential customers?

If future clients want to work with Cymbol design, I advise they know exactly what they want to accomplish and who their audience is. Knowing the brand and goals is on the owner of the company, and this will help Cymbol Design tremendously with their work.

This will help a lot because Cymbol Design will help with the design tremendously, but knowing their brand and goals is on the owner of the company.

What was the scope of their involvement?
We started out with a discovery call where I shared my goals and what I was looking for. Cymbol created the website from scratch. They developed a place on the site that plays audio clips, and there is also a contact form and a book now button for my clients. Anytime something gets booked, I get an automatic email. 

Their team was also responsible for branding services that included developing branding guidelines and creating a logo.

Cymbol delivered exactly what I was looking for, and I’ve seen a 20% increase in views on my social media. Their quality of work was extremely high and exceeded my expectations.

We had weekly check-ins and used Trello so I could follow all of the work being completed. Cymbol was communicative and delivered everything on time and within budget. We primarily communicated via emails and Trello. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

The whole process was extremely smooth, and Cymbol was accountable for everything. Their team was professional and ensured that everything was very clear.  I was most impressed with their attention to detail and responsiveness to feedback. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

There’s nothing I can come up with at this point.
