I’m the owner that produces personalized gifts and keepsakes.

What challenge were you trying to address with CVI Technologies?

We wanted to create a custom order answering system to run all of our ordering through. Everything we do with our garment printers runs through this system. We can pre-personalize and print them too with the system.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We knew what we wanted and led the planning. We went through the scope of that project and then they built the system from the ground up. They recommended the framework we’re using, went over tweaks, and integrated our personalization software. Eventually, we’ll move onto them doing some work for our website.

What is the team composition?

We work with Gary (President & Software Engineer) and we’ve had as many as 3–4 people working on our software.

How did you come to work with CVI Technologies?

We found them through a freelance platform. They’ve become basically part of our company now and we interact with them directly.

How much have you invested with them?

To date, we’ve spent roughly $30,000. Our baseline is $6,000–$7,000 per month.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started in March 2020, and our work is still ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

We’ve had a really great experience with them. The main thing for us is their communication. What we were looking for is what we got with Gary as a project manager and developer. The team is very responsive. Whenever I need something, Gary is just a call away.

How did CVI Technologies perform from a project management standpoint?

Things might get delayed at times, but it’s really important to us to know how far along in the process we are since we’re spending so much money. We always get that transparency with them. The quality of work is high too, and I’m really happy we’re able to work together so fluidly. We just communicate via email and phone, and we use Asana for project management.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Again, their communication is much better than other vendors we’ve worked with. This our software, these are our tools, this is our production line, so we know exactly what we need at all times. We’re very hands-on. To be able to have effective communication both ways is extremely valuable. The way they manage our project has been the most satisfying part.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, it’s been a really pleasant experience.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

My advice is to be as open as you can about what you want to get done. Be clear about the issues you’ve had in the past, and they’ll make sure those don’t recur.

We’re a communication skills training company. We use improv and acting techniques to train corporate employees through on-site and virtual training. I’m the EVP of marketing operations.

What challenges were you trying to address with CVI Technologies?

We initially built our websites and technology platforms using smaller offshore vendors. However, as our company grew, we surpassed these companies’ abilities. We needed a new development company in the United States that was working in the same time zone as us.

What was the scope of their involvement?

They’re currently working with us to develop an iOS and Android application. This is in addition to website development support, and support for our desktop applications. 

What is the team composition?

I work directly with Gary, but I’m not sure who else he has assigned to the team. 

How did you come to work with CVI Technologies?

I found them online, I can’t remember on which site. I posted what I needed, and several companies responded. After talking to several vendors, we decided on CVI Technologies. 

How much have you invested in them?

We’ve spent between $200,000–$300,000. 

What is the status of this engagement?

We began our ongoing relationship with them in August 2017.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The quality of their work has been great. They’ve made a tremendous impact on our business, and they’ve been a great partner. Their team provides great feedback and suggestions to me which helps me understand their technical work better. 

How did CVI Technologies perform from a project management standpoint?

We’ve used Asana which has been really helpful. We’re able to make suggestions for improvements and new features to them via our Asana board. Their team is also very hardworking and responsive. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

The most impressive thing about them is their drive to solve problems. Our work is fairly complex, but they come up with multiple solutions and present them to me in a clear way. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

Sometimes I don’t get a response as quickly as I’d like because they’re busy with other clients and projects. However, if there’s an emergency, I’ve always been able to get in touch with them. They’ve been better about letting me know when they won’t be available so that I can manage my expectations. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers? 

I wish we had clearer expectations and requirements before we started. It’s also important to discuss your budget and scope to make sure they’re aligned.

Our company locates medical records and performs social media searches for insurance companies. One division finds medical records for insurance companies to help them find people that are committing insurance fraud. Another division completes social media searches to find people that are committing fraud by looking on the web.

What challenge were you trying to address with CVI Technologies?

We were doing everything manually, and we wanted to do everything paperless. We also wanted to provide our clients reports on a different platform so that they could have more features like interactive maps and graphs.

In our medical canvassing division, we needed to be able to locate medical facilities everywhere in the US. We wanted to find an instantaneous and accurate way to do that. We needed to be able to find facilities within a certain mile distance around where the claimant lives.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Gary (CEO) and his team at CVI Technologies built an intricate platform for us. We started talking to Gary about what we wanted before they began setting it up. The system allows information to go through each department of our team. Each of our pages is individual to fit our clients’ needs, so a lot of programming went into that as well.

What is the team composition?

Gary is my only contact, but he has multiple people on his team working with us.

How did you come to work with CVI Technologies?

Gary was actually the third person we tried. The first group we tried was way over their heads and didn’t know what they were doing. When we first started, we were working with the company that developed our original website. After discussing what we wanted, they said that they could do it, and then they decided to hire someone else. We found the second person on a site where programmers go to get work.

Gary was one of them, but we ended up going with the less expensive company that ended up being a scam. He didn’t program anything and just took our money. So, we relooked at different companies, and then Gary came up again. I felt more comfortable going with a more established company at that point.

We’ve spent over $200,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with CVI Technologies in May 2018.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

In all honesty, Gary is a unique person that isn’t found frequently in a programmer. He’s able to communicate well, understand things very quickly, and then put it into his programming. From my experience and what I’ve heard from other people is that it’s challenging to find somebody who can really communicate well with you. Gary does that very well.

Overall, their team has done an excellent job. I’ve been happy with them, and would gladly recommend them to anybody.

How did CVI Technologies perform from a project management standpoint?

We use Asana for communication. That’s been the easiest route for us.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Gary goes above and beyond. He cares about his clients. I needed to do a presentation for a big client of ours, and the program wasn’t far along. Gary flew out to do the presentation with me.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Sometimes, with small companies like that, there is difficulty getting hold of them.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

With any project you’re going to do with a programmer, it’s smart to lay everything out ahead of time. Simple communication and patience are also imperative when working together.

I’m the CEO of a medical technology company,  introducing voice control in the healthcare space. This means bringing smart voice assistance to help within the industry.

What challenge were you trying to address with CVI Technologies?

We hired them to help us with early-level product development to create the initial prototype and demos for introduction to the market.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

They provide a variety of services ranging from higher-level product design down to base level engineering, including software and hardware development. They also help with implementation and collecting user feedback and making modifications to improve the product based on real-time data. 

What is the team composition?

At this time, about five people from their team work with us. One project manager is assigned to us and the others are developers. 

How did you come to work with CVI Technologies?

A friend referred me to their website which led me to ultimately contact them. After doing some due diligence, they seemed the most prepared to provide a wide array of services to get an initial demo developed. 

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent around $150,000 on their services, so far. 

What is the status of this engagement?

Our engagement began in February 2017 and is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Overall, they’ve done a great job of delivering all of the projects I’ve asked of them. They’re extremely thorough and their team is always very capable of finding the right person for the job.

How did CVI Technologies perform from a project management standpoint?

They set realistic goals for what we want to accomplish with each product. Their team is extremely easy to work with and responsive. Organization is one of their skills, so we tend to use Asana to manage the workflow and it works really well for us. We’ve also used Slack to communicate. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

Gary’s (CEO) attitude is second to none. He has a great outlook on things and if something isn’t working out, he’s always facile with involving the right people. I don’t think any task is outside of their capability. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, I don’t have anything that I’ve been dissatisfied with. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Start the relationship early by setting expectations and making sure everything is realistic. Be honest about what you’re trying to achieve and what your timelines are. If you do this, Gary will do a good job of managing the project and help you achieve your goals.
