The project deadline and interim milestones were all met.

The rollout presented challenges due to internal IT controls - however, the fact that the application is built on Microsoft Power Platform ensured any issues were easily overcome with multiple deployment options being offered.

In all instances the solutions for UI exceeded what we anticipated - the use of accordion menus, recommended by Concetto, was a significant enhancement that simplified the multiple form sections.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Their ability to understand and respond to our requirements was impressive. They also provided solutions with minimal time obligations for me as client's rep.

On this project, I don't believe there was anything different Concetto could have done.

On a future project, I would recommend holding a longer meeting at project commencement to discuss other design/UX options to help improve non-technical personnel's understanding of the concept and potential for an improved, more comprehensive final solution.

Concetto Labs was tapped to develop an e-commerce web app with customer- and seller-facing components. Though they accomplished some key points, the final product was buggy and not up to the client’s standards.

Feedback summary

I hired Concetto Labs to help me build my e-commerce platform.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Our end goal was to have a merchandising framework similar to Amazon, and Concetto Labs was supposed to deliver a web-based application that has order management and payment gateway integrations. We agreed that they would develop a customer-facing interface as well as an administrative backend for sellers. I believe they were using AWS, PHP, and Laravel. 

What is the team composition?

I’ve interacted with around five people, which includes the developers, their business development manager, and a project manager. 

How did you come to work with Concetto Labs?

I was looking online for web app development companies in India when I came across Concetto Labs’ website. It seemed interesting and more professional compared to the others I had seen, so I decided to partner with them. 

How much have you invested with them?

I invested about $15,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

I started working with the team in May 2021, but I’ve stopped the project last December 2021. I’m already looking for another company that could take up the work.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Concetto Labs couldn’t deliver well in terms of the UI. The architecture of their work was quite good, but we reached a point where they weren’t contributing or holding up to the requirements as much as they used to. The web app was buggy, and I’ve had to pause the project a couple of times since they kept postponing the fixes as well. 

I ultimately decided to end our engagement and pursue another agency, since Concetto Labs wanted to keep billing me as much as they could without showing any valuable work. They also don’t want to transfer anything back to me until I’ve paid them. It’s like they were just playing games with me at that point.

How did Concetto Labs perform from a project management standpoint?

They have the technical know-how, but it felt like they were just trying to milk money from me. They were very deceitful and dishonest. I contacted their business manager many times, but they did not respond to my emails.

We used Trello and held weekly meetings and demos, which is how I found the errors in their work. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

Concetto Labs did alright in terms of conceptualizing and implementing my idea into a demonstrable product. However, they fell short when it came to the final delivery. I wish I was informed earlier that they didn’t have the skill set necessary to complete the job. The fact that they had to go back and fix bugs several times over was evidence that their developers aren’t that good. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

I would recommend against working with them.

This client was good, a bit technical, and understood the flow of the project. When we shared the demos of the work, he was always satisfied with the progress.

Four months back, he asked us to put project on hold and given reason saying he is facing some financial issues so he needs time to resume back project. and the development team had to shifted to another project conveying the same to him that it would be a bit difficult to bring back same team later.

After couple of months, Project resumed with new team and with previous team leader. As team is new, they need time to adjust with the project and the client was expecting the things to proceed fast with same pace as before.

During the development we had scheduled meetings twice a week which the client was missing out from last month and hardly show up in any scheduled demo and due to which we were unable to share the demo and he would check progress on his own without knowing what is done and what isn’t.

We were almost left with 20% of the total project hours with  2 sprints remaining which was also conveyed clearly to the client. So we have tried to convince him saying please come to demo we’ll show you what has been done and we are meeting  agreed deadline(agreed hours) & budget, but seems like he is not showing any interest for the same.  he was being impatient, not understanding the things.

The vendor contacted us on LinkedIn. After having exchanged several emails with Concetto Labs' Co-Founder and read references of their previous clients, Concetto Labs seemed to be a professional and trustworthy partner for our web development project.

Concetto Labs developed our new website on WP along with 9 pages, incl. 3 pages with a filter section that enables our web content to be filtered using multiple filter categories and filter options. The site has been integrated with the Divi plug in that enables us to make design & content updates frontend life.

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

As we haven't launched the website yet, I cannot share the impact the project has had on our business. The new website should support our digitalization and internationalization journey and help us direct traffic as well as build our mailing list and convert visitors.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

The project management was arranged on trello, which worked well for sharing feedback in between development rounds. The communication was done mainly via email as well as in comments on trello. From time to time we excahnged calls and chat messages on Skype. The communication has always been smooth and Concetto Labs was always very responsive and transparent.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

I was impressed by the dedication of our project manager to find explanations and solutions to our queries in collaboration with his team of developers.

Not that I can think of.

There were developers and a project manager who kept everything on track and who was available to provide updates and help solve queries. Having such a good project manager was essential to the success of the project.

We now have an MVP and clients signing up to it and using it.

Regular skype contact with the project manager ensured that the project ran smoothly and were any problems arose, they were communicated effectively and with potential solutions.

There was really good communication about the whole project and also about an aspect of work they had not delivered before.

The trello board was not used much and so whilst looking good at the start, quickly fell out of use. It either needs to be used or not used. Maybe this only being a relatively small project meant that trello was not so important a factor though.

The first task was to convert an old application that we had been using from Visual Studio, which it had been written in, to a more modern framework using Laravel. That was the task until now, and we are just beginning the second stage, which involves adding functionalities to the converted application.

We have worked with two developers from their team, one who has been dedicated to our project and one who specialized in the conversion. When we begin developing the new features, they will provide six more teammates for that stage.

I found a few freelance companies online and interviewed them. Concetto Labs seemed like they had the best capacity to deal with large, complicated projects, so we decided to go with them.

The project has lasted about a year so far, starting in January 2019 and is still ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We have a test instance running right now, and it has been very straightforward and successful so far. The application runs well and is very stable, so we are satisfied with the results of the first stage of development, but many of the additional efficiency and modernized features will come from the phase that we are about to begin.

How did Concetto Labs perform from a project management standpoint?

They use JIRA and Slack tools internally to manage the project, but we have communicated with them primarily through Skype and phone calls. We only had a few delays throughout the project, but that was a necessary component of the work and did not throw off the project in any way. We have been satisfied with the work that their project manager has done for us so far.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Concetto Labs takes its work very seriously and is always patient. We gave them some very big, difficult tasks and they were resilient in tackling those, and they demonstrated a high level of technical skill at the same time.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, we haven’t had any problems that I would blame them for.

Be honest about all of your requirements upfront, because they are honest about their capabilities and will let you know if they will not be able to complete any tasks.

What challenge were you trying to address with Concetto Labs?

We are changing the brick and mortar security industry to a mobile platform similar to Uber. Concetto Labs was contracted to build the app.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Concetto Labs built a mobile app for Android and iOS from the ground up. They performed all app development, from the initial ideas and designs through the programming. Users post jobs on a marketplace for guards to browse. Clients and guards are both able to rate each other. We’re also able to do daily reports for guards to add extra hours.

They helped us grow from ground level to a launch 18 months ago. After that, we've kept them on as our permanent programmers. Concetto Labs has worked as an out-of-house team throughout the engagement.

I initially started working with the CEO. We then got an account manager and have been working with that person for some time.

I originally started looking for a freelance developer. I expressed that I was looking for a long-term partnership with a developer. They were able to provide common ground with that, and we worked from there.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Although we’re in an early phase, I’m happy with the results. We have to do more basic stuff, but it depends on our growth. Anecdotally, we have had many changes to the app over time.  if there are any items of place or a code issue, they’re able to fix those concerns right away or the day after.

How did Concetto Labs perform from a project management standpoint?

They’re very good with communication. We’ve gotten to the point where I tell them something and they give me constructive feedback in regard to what would be more effective. Sometimes, they offer two or three demo choices for me to select. They met all the deadlines that we’ve given them. The Android and iOS work were done back-to-back, but they had no issues.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Even though they’re not in our area, they follow up very quickly. The fact that they can follow up the next day rather than a week or two is great for our company and our growth.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Because this is a brand-new platform for a security company, I don’t have much to compare it to, so I don’t have anything.

I would say give them a chance to test the waters and see what can be done. If it’s a bigger project, maybe start on a smaller project and get feedback on that first. The only way to do that is to try it out for yourself.
