I’m the CEO of a digital agency. We’ve been designing and developing websites since 1995, working on over 1,000 projects and 100 different industries. We offer website design, development, and online marketing services. We work primarily on WordPress for websites and on Google Ads and other PPC mediums for online marketing.

Codup provides IT staff augmentation services; we have them on retainer. Their team members are available to us on an ongoing basis. We bring them the projects, and they get started.

The team does design work, implements those designs as websites, meets our quality requirements, and makes changes over time as necessary. Codup also helps maintain existing end-client sites, update content and imagery, and add features.

Sometimes we have extraordinary requirements that might need complex backend development work, high-end e-commerce solutions, or more. For those items, we speak with our account manager to spec out the project and increase the size of our team to handle that additional work.

Overall, we have an ongoing relationship with Codup for website work.

Our core team has an account manager, a graphic designer, a frontend developer, and a QA specialist. We regularly work with those four team members, but sometimes we ramp it up to 6–8 or more.

Our clients love Codup’s work. They’ve helped us get more business from current and new clients. We’re very demanding, so they pay incredible attention to detail. Codup always manages to deliver high-quality work; they rarely get it wrong. If something is less than perfect, they do everything possible to deliver the best product possible.

How did Codup perform from a project management standpoint?

Our team is always working on several projects at the same time, and they always deliver on time. We communicate in several ways. First, we have a standing weekly meeting with our project manager and other team members as necessary. Additionally, we’re in constant contact through email, Skype, and Google Meet.

Zaheer (Project Manager) is our project manager. I’ve been doing this for 28 years, and he’s the best project manager I’ve ever worked with.

Codup does quality work, and they stand behind their outputs. If something’s not done correctly, they’ll bend over backward to fix it. They genuinely care about the results of their work, so I feel great about the job they do and the attention they give to our company.

Ahsan and Hassan have been doing an excellent job. We give them a variety of projects, and some take longer than their estimates. However, they always stay within our budget and stand behind their estimates. If they have an incorrect one, they still do what it takes to deliver it on time and on budget.

They have a good team that works hard and delivers quality work. Overall, I’m pleased with their services.

No, there aren’t any.

I’ve worked with many offshore development agencies, and many of them are just after your money. They don’t seem to care about the quality of their work, so they cut corners. Anas and his team were able to take our existing code and reorganize it to remove glitches and bugs. They streamlined all of our current functions which provided us a solid foundation for growth. They have worked with us to build a successful paid subscription app and paywall website that requires complex data entry and searchable fields. 

They have seamlessly implemented back end CRM systems and payment systems, while working with us on our overall roadmap to navigate and build new successful functions with seamless rollouts.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We have seen over 400,000 downloads and 80,000 users for our website since we have started working with them. Our paid app has a conversion rate that exceeds 10%. Anas and his team have optimized our site speed, and our users experience few to no glitches or downtime. I can not speak highly enough of this team and our experience working with Codup.

Anas and his team are highly communicative and responsive. They do exactly what they say they will do when they say they will do it. They provide consistent communication throughout the process providing updates, discoveries and possibilities.They are incredibly transparent on project scope and work hours, making detailed time-logs available at all times. 

When we have an urgent need, they are responsive and diligent to respond and prioritize the need. We love this team, and feel grateful to have found them.

Honestly, there are no areas of improvment that are needed. Prior to working with Codup, we worked with a different company and had a terrible experience, not sure how it gets any better than the experience we have had working with Codup and Anas. I can't stress enough how great our experience has been.

• Goal 1: The ability for the website to book vacation rentals directly online, with a custom user interface and experience. The data source for displaying properties comes from Escapia and is delivered to the front of the website by way of API. The website's interface (designed by my team) included a property search (filter), property listings, property details (landing page), and property booking. All data related to properties are managed internally from Escapia's dashboard, where published/updated property details get displayed on the front end of the website (API calls).
• Goal 2: To receive requests on retail properties directly on the website, with a custom user interface and experience. Raw MLS Data is provided by external resources and is delivered to the front of the website by way of API. The website's interface designed by my team featured a custom design for property search (filter) which included a detailed map (using either MapBox or Google), property listings, property details (landing page), and a property request form for users to acquire more info about the property.

Their responsiveness, ability to understand the challenge, and willingness to be flexible impressed me. I was transparent with the team about my bias for overseas vendors due to poor experiences in my past. However, Codup is an exception, and exceeded my overall expectations.

Codup provides us with e-commerce development using WooCommerce. First, we created a statement of work together by going back and forth on a document to ensure it included what we wanted. They work on the backend, plug-in integrations, and site migration. We were using an outdated hosting service, and Codup has fixed that for us; they now offer maintenance and hosting services.

We work with a project manager, an engineer, a business analyst, and an account manager from Codup.

I found them online when looking for WooCommerce developers. Codup had created a few apps, which made me interested in reaching out to them. We had several calls to ensure we were the right fit for each other, where they walked us through their process for creating a statement of work and ensuring it included what we wanted.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Thanks to Codup’s work, our site is faster and performs better overall. Other than that, it hasn’t been long enough to see metrics like conversions improve. As for the team, they’ve been much faster than I expected in completing the task-based work on tight deadlines.

How did Codup perform from a project management standpoint?

The challenge we’ve faced regarding project management is our time zone difference. They do their best to overlap with our hours, working late at night and early in the morning. Still, there’s a 4–5 hour gap towards the end of the day, which we don’t love. However, I don’t know how they could get around that. 

Their communication has been excellent, and they’ve been proactive in making suggestions. We base our project management on shared documents and communicate through email and Google Meet. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

I’m impressed with Codup’s proactive approach. Additionally, they’re not interested in selling unnecessary things; they want to be honest. They tell me the pros and cons of each decision and let me make the call, which I appreciate. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

They could do more to streamline their billing process, which is a bit cumbersome because we have to wire money. They have many clients in the US, so if they had an account here, it would simplify the payment process.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Be really clear about your business objectives so that Codup knows what you want to do and focuses on the project’s needs. They’re very good at looking at the big picture and recommending plug-ins or tweaks to help you.

We were looking to migrate about 20 websites to WordPress.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Codup helped us migrate our website assets to WordPress and produce complete websites through PHP, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

We started with a discovery phase where we discussed our requirements and listed all the assets we needed to move, then started the migration process which included the development of new themes and utilizing multiple languages.

We haven’t had enough time to collate the results and metrics, but Codup was able to successfully migrate 20 websites to WordPress.

Codup was a great partner as they turned the project around fairly quickly, and were consistently responsive throughout the development. They were highly efficient from a project management standpoint and we typically communicated through Slack.
