Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the owner of Dalua; we sell products for the aquarium industry, including fish tanks and coral reefs. We sell B2B and B2C.

What challenge were you trying to address with The Coding Company?

We needed to convert our devices to IoT devices to control our aquariums' environment. 

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

At the beginning of the engagement, The Coding Company did some troubleshooting for our device since it had never connected to WiFi before. They worked with the hardware to determine how it could convert into an IoT device. Then, we had several meetings to discuss what needed to be done, including scheduling, disconnecting, and reconnecting servers. 

Then, The Coding Company developed the cross-platform mobile app that coordinated directly with the device’s hardware. The app was built to control the environment in the aquariums, from the brightness to the weather. They did all the UI/UX design and development themselves.  

As part of this project, The Coding Company created the backend of our website to serve as a master control center; it controls and monitors users. 

Even though we’re now going live, The Coding Company will provide support for the next month. 

What is the team composition?

I had regular contact with four teammates, but about 20 developers worked on the project.

How did you come to work with The Coding Company?

I got in touch with The Coding Company on Freelancer. Multiple companies submitted quotes for the project, but their team had the best communication and the most detailed answers and was the fastest to respond.

How much have you invested with them?

Our project cost around $90,000. 

What is the status of this engagement?

This partnership was from June 2021–October 2022. 

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

There were some bugs and crashes, which was why we went through a very slow and measured release. We went through several beta tests with test users. So far, the end users have praised the app for being easy to use. It has a very smooth connection process. 

How did The Coding Company perform from a project management standpoint?

Their team was very good at meeting deadlines, but their timeline estimates were sometimes off since there was no documentation. However, they were communicative about delays. 

We had weekly calls for eighty weeks — it was a very hands-on project. We used several communication channels, including WhatsApp, phone calls, Zoom calls, and video chats. Their team was very personable. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their communication and IoT development set them apart.  

Are there any areas they could improve?

I don’t think there is anything they could improve.

Be open with The Coding Company and communicate daily so they understand the project.

Please describe your company and your position there.

I am the Finance Director at a manufacturing business which manufacturers Fire Rated Doors, Frames and Joinery.

For what projects/services did your company hire The Coding Company, and what were your goals?

They created and are continuing to develope a RODBok (Realtime-Order-Database) to allow us to raise track, archive and review all orders.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

I looked into a few companies and felt like these would be the best to meet my requriements. They were easily contactable, take time to understand my requirements and suggest alternatives where appropriate.

We have regular meetings to review progress made for my approval or comment. They had ful access to our old system to enable them to use real data for testing, with some areas urgent the team priortised tasks to meet our deadlines. Key features to our system were to; Date, Time and User stamp each process and change to increase traceability. Store old orders in an archive folder for future review and audits required to check compliance. Secure system and handle data correctly according to Data Protection Be compatable on ANY device

How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

There is a project manager and team of developers to deal with visuals and backend programming. Approximately 6 people. I have been told their rolls and have the ability to contact them but my point of contact is the Project Manager.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

Traceability has massively increased. If we need to review a previous order the data is on our system rather than on paper records as it previously was Multiple users can see live data at once, before it was one at a time. Use the system anywhere in the world to aid my management roll within my company whilst I am away from the office.

Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.

Their project management is great. Once they have compelted this system I plan on moving more systems over for their deveopment. I often get a response within 5 minutes during the working day. If they need to go away to make a change they will give me a timeline which is often ready for the next working day. Dealing with the team is easy, and they are always on hand to assist with urgent and nonurgent inquiries.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Contactability - in a world so digital this company has been great with being contactable. My fear with other companies is when you need to contact somebody you can;t get in touch with them. I have been given all the direct contact details for everyone I need as part of this project and they are always most happy to help.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

No, the work they have done for me has been superb.

Scooter Mart is a motorcycle dealership and I am the Managing Director.

For what projects/services did your company hire The Coding Company, and what were your goals?

Over the years Scooter Mart has hired The Coding Company for various projects. Our goal is to be the leader in technology in our region for automotive companies.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

The Coding Company not only delivered on our expectations, but also came up with creative and innovative ideas that we added as well. For instance, they developed a complete online e-commerce web app for buying and registering motorcycles and also a data-based second hand motorcycle appraisal app built in. So our customers can now find the value of their second hand motorcycle instantly online.

Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.

For this project the scope of the work was to develop an e-commerce platform for buying motorcycles. The steps included design stage, development stage and multiple revisions. I am very picky and a perfectionist and Asad and the team at The Coding Company were patient with me and allowed me to create my vision, exactly how I envisioned it.

The most important part to me is that they didn’t continually add tons of costs and additional fees beyond reason, even though I ended up asking for probably more than was in the original scope!

We probably worked with around 6 different team members from the Coding Company, along with the CEO, Asad. He was very involved and that helped a lot.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

Great communication - particularly because the owner, Asad, is very involved even when it comes down to detailed meetings that he may not need to attend - he still comes to make sure we are happy and always progressing toward the goal.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Asad and his involvement are great. I also like how robust their team is: from graphic design, development, consulting, mobile apps - it seems like they do it all which is great for our small company. Their quality of work is by far the best value that we’ve seen through 6 years of developing software technologies for our companies.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

I think if they continue to put the customer first as they have been - this will be a very successful company on a national or even global scale. The Coding Company is top tier!
