I am Neha, Project Manager at IntroMagic. IntroMagic is a software product for the Human Resource (Recruiting ) Industry with recruitment agencies and recruiters in the US as a target user base. It is a web application that can be used by job applicants & recruiters to record & use video for introducing themselves and screening candidates respectively.

We are a new start-up and as part of our initial -pre-launch activities, the foremost major task was to build IntroMagic's product(web application) + site design. Since, we are a new team and did not have any in-house design team, we were looking to outsource this to an agency that understood our niche product idea and delivered.We had a basic pencil sketch workflow(wireframes) and wanted to have the product pages, style-guide designed from scratch.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We were looking for web designers in Upwork. That' when we came across Code Theorem's profile. We decided to go with them since their price was affordable, they had prior experience designing for tech / SaaS products, their previous design work which they submitted as samples was of great design quality and they displayed great communication & seemed like a highly professional team to work with in the initial conversations.

Describe the project in detail and walk through the stages of the project.

We started with a kickoff call where we discussed the product & communicated the design ideas we had( we needed a clean, modern , minimalist theme). Code theorem understood all our needs & ideas and came up with a timeline, based on which we set milestones on Upwork. They provided us with a very systematic workflow plan which consisted of :

1. Competitor research and Design attempt towards Modern, Elegant & Clean website.
2. Visual design and components (Images, Icons, Typography).
3. Collaboration with the Product Manager for iterations during the process.
4. Screens will be designed in Figma and view access will be shared with the developer to access the design assets. We started with the design of our product's web application on Figma. It had two verticals, one each for our Product's two solutions- Recruiter & Applicant. We did not have a logo or brandkit set up by then, so it was a challenge for them to come up with a theme ( color codes, typography, fonts etc.), based on just thoughts and ideas we communicated to them in our kickoff call. And they did a fantastic job at the same.

They submitted first few pages for review, so we could take a look at the theme and overall design. We had very few presentation changes and much of our finished product's design today - is the first cut version provided by CT. Once they got approval for initial theme, they went on to complete the web application's design. Most of the milestones they would finish way ahead of time, giving us ample time to provide feedback and wrap up. They were very pro-active with the review changes and would complete it within a span of 2-3 hours.

They would give us great insights on some design questions we had and it was not just mere following on instructions. We realized mid-way that we had missed out to add couple of sections(screens) to the initial wire frames that we wanted to be designed. But Code Theorem was more than helpful and accommodating to update the current milestone and they did not take any much extra time to finish the additional screens.

Towards, the end we received great quality designs for our web application, which incorporated all of our feedback and was exactly how we had envisioned it and more. We were so impressed by the quality of their work on the product's design , that we decided to engage with them for our marketing site's design as well. We provided them with the copy/content and a wordpress theme from which elements we wanted to use.

They submitted this on time with very few review changes. The design aesthetics and style they put forward for our site design is just outstanding ! At the same time, they made sure it syncs well with the product;s design as well.

In total I worked with 2 people. The designer and the team manager.

https://intromagic.io/ For site- Their design was neat, clean and thorough. Our developers were able to implement their design easily. We have just officially launched our website and the feedback and compliments we are receiving from visitors are just great! The site has a very user friendly and fresh interface, just how we envisioned it.

The product( web application) is 1 month away from launch , since its being internally developed & tested now, but we have received all great feedback on its design from our advisory board and some industry leaders as well.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

This is one of my favorite reasons to work with Code Theorem again and refer them as well. They were available round the clock- for anything we needed. They submitted all work, much before the deadline, leaving us ample time to provide feedback and review. Daily communication was through Skype chat and Zoom meetings ( for any in-depth discussions). They were super great with updating us on daily work status and any future updates.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Both team members ( Vraj & Prem) and Code Theorem as a team- were very easy to communicate with. Highly professional and they have great work ethics & culture. Super friendly to work with, felt like they were a part of IntroMagic internal team, while they worked with us. Their design sense, aesthetics, knowledge base for the prices they provide are just next level I'd say. Overall great experience working with these superstars! Thank you for such doing such a commendable job and providing us a great & beautiful design for our product.

The legal name of our company is Counsellr Web Development and WordPress Services and we provide a content management platform that allows users with multiple websites to create, optimize, manage, and publish content pieces using a dashboard. I am the founder.

What challenge were you trying to address with CodeTheorem?

We started building a product around February 2020, but were not really happy with the UX/UI six months into the development, so we’re now working with CodeTheorem to figure out what we can fix.

What was the scope of their involvement?

CodeTheorem started by conducting an audit on our product’s UI. After working out what needed to be fixed, we brainstormed on different designs. They slowly switched out the color palette and then went into changing the logo and fonts as well. Basically, their team has transformed our entire brand along with the UI. 

CodeTheorem has also redesigned each screen of our application using Figma, which is how we were able to pinpoint what other aspects were wrong with the UX. We’ve implemented the design and their team has stayed to support us through the process.

I called a friend of mine in Delhi to ask if he knew anyone who could help me. He said that he had someone to whom he regularly outsourced projects, and that’s how we got connected to CodeTheorem.

We have a feedback form on the app itself that test users can fill in. The responses we got all point to the amazing quality of CodeTheorem’s UI work.

CodeTheorem has been there throughout the project to answer all of our questions. We have a WhatsApp group where we can call and share screens when we need to discuss the project, especially if we’re working remotely. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

What distinguishes CodeTheorem is the unique personality that they’ve brought to the application. They’ve made sure that the software is working and has a beautiful functional design. Though this is my first time developing an app, I know that other companies will simply create a design based on already-used templates. They elevated the UI to not look like a typical bootstrap product.

Are there any areas they could improve?

When we were starting out, the color palettes took a bit more time than necessary. I don’t think it should’ve taken us 3–4 days, but CodeTheorem explained that this aspect of the design really does take time. I agreed with them, and perhaps it was just the friction of starting out with a new company, so this was a minor inconvenience, at best. Other than that,  I have not had a bad experience.

Give CodeTheorem frequent feedback on everything they deliver. You need not wait a day or two; you can just go directly to the team in order to complete the process quickly.
