We hired CodePillow for help in development of our platform and consulting about security.

What were your goals for this project?

Our goal was to create online marketplace where you can buy all kinds of products from merchants using Karbo cryptocurrency.

It was recommendation from our friends which worked with them before.

Our project is online marketplace where merchants can create publications about selling products for Karbo cryptocurrency. CodePillow team provided us support with platform development, node setup and securing it.

What was the team composition?

At the time CodePillow team consisted of 2 peoples which we talk to via Telegram chat. Both of them full stack developers with decent amount of skills in web, blockchain and network security.

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

Thanks to CodePillow team we managed to launch our marketplace way ahead of schedule. They provided good expertises in what we tried to achieve.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

We talked with CodePillow team via Telegram cha, private GitLab repository for code and Trello for task and project management.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Almost 100% uptime. We could contact them anytime help was required. They delivered their part of code on time with high quality.

BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the CEO and founder of a SaaS company. We make products that range from web to mobile applications. As of late, we’ve done more blockchain work.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with CodePillow?

We needed to build up a mobile wallet for a blockchain protocol quickly.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

The UI works on React Native, and the server utilizes Node.js (for market services) and Python. From there, we have industry-standard features where you have fingerprint identification to open the app. If not, you put in a pin code. Once you’re in the app you can create our own wallet that requires specific passwords to encrypt the user’s privacy. That way, only they can access it. That was the key feature we wanted to work well with no issues. Other than that, it’s a standard process: sending and receiving transactions on the blockchain.

What is the team composition?

I was only talking to Oleh (Software Engineer, CodePillow).

How did you come to work with CodePillow?

The project was open-source, and an open-source contributor in the community connected me with CodePillow. They were able to fulfill our short timeline.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent around $6,000 with them.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together from October–November 2019.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The ratings in the app stores are good. We did a private beta test session where we found a few bugs but nothing was very critical. The launch was quick too. We were glad they could help us out since we had projects running in parallel that the wallet supported.

How did CodePillow perform from a project management standpoint?

We communicated mainly on Discord, which let us put in files and formatted code like Slack. We also did a lot of code management and releases through GitHub. There were no issues in communication.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I haven’t worked with many freelancers or third-party/outsourcing companies, but time management and communication were their best attributes.

Usually, if people make a mistake, they don’t own up to it, even our own employees, but CodePillow was upfront with things that might be issues or they may need more time on.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I’m not sure if they have a well-rounded UI or UX designer. We have one in-house so it wasn’t much of an issue, but they may benefit from having their own.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Communicate clearly with them.

I’m the owner of a consulting company. We support small businesses of all types with their needs.

What challenge were you trying to address with CodePillow?

We hired CodePillow for a myriad of reasons since we work with several different clients. Generally, they serve as the coding branch of our firm and support any coding or design challenges with our clients.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Over time, they’ve worked on a range of projects for us. A lot of their work has been focused on creating trading platforms and handle crypto backend development. They’ve created token management systems (TMS) and worked on a client’s IP camera app. Their team has also provided coding support for high-end websites and created animations, so their support covers a wide range of needs. 

What is the team composition?

I’ve worked with a few people from CodePillow who support us and we have one main point of contact. 

How did you come to work with CodePillow?

I followed a referral from another person I was working with who didn’t specialize in the higher end of programming projects. 

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent around $20,000, so far. 

What is the status of this engagement?

I started working with CodePillow in September 2017 and our engagement is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Anecdotally, all of our clients are very happy with their work. Clients have been amazed at how their team goes above and beyond to deliver something of high quality. We’ve never had any problems because they always want to satisfy the project’s needs. 

How did CodePillow perform from a project management standpoint?

We have a great rapport, so we mostly communicate through Telegram. Our communication has always been very smooth and the team is flexible. They’ve met every deadline. Sometimes, it’s hard to tell how long a coding project will take, so even if they are late by a week, I’d never fault them for that. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’re friendly, happy, patient people. Sometimes, other vendors get mad if I’m not super responsive, but CodePillow knows I have other responsibilities and they respect that. We have great chemistry, which led to us developing a strong, positive relationship. 

Their eye for design is impeccable; they’re one of the best out there. UI work is challenging because it’s easy to get things wrong, so it’s nice to have someone that always gets it right. They’re great at supporting things that go beyond the original requirements while still drawing a line to prevent too much scope creep. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

I can’t think of anything. I also don’t know a ton about coding in general, so I’m sure everyone could improve but they always do what I ask. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Be straight up about what you need and they’ll do it.
