CodeFulcrum developed a comprehensive suite of automation solutions to address our specific operational challenges. This included the creation of a digital Employee ID Card system within Speakap, allowing employees to register via our mobile app and have their details fetched directly from Speakap's API. The system generates dynamic ID cards with real-time data and timestamps to prevent misuse, and also incorporates a Terms and Conditions section for clarity on employee benefit usage.

Additionally, CodeFulcrum automated our sales data analysis by developing a script that compares branch sales data with expected output formats from SharePoint files. This script runs hourly, analyzing profit/loss data and posting reports directly to Speakap. They also created an automation bot to download and store email attachments in SharePoint, detect and handle errors in sheets while sending email alerts, and monitor specific Outlook emails with updates posted in Speakap.

Furthermore, CodeFulcrum built a bot to scrape and manipulate sales data from a back office platfrom using Selenium, posting insights into Speakap groups, and developed a system to parse HTML-formatted emails, publishing structured content within Speakap.

CodeFulcrum’s automation solutions have significantly improved our operational efficiency. The Employee ID Card system has streamlined employee benefits management, reducing manual administrative work and ensuring seamless access to benefits. Sales data analysis, which was previously time-consuming and manual, is now automated, providing real-time profit/loss insights that help us make informed decisions. Additionally, the automation of email monitoring, file management, and error detection has minimized human intervention, reducing errors and enhancing productivity. These improvements have collectively led to smoother operations, allowing our team to focus on strategic tasks rather than repetitive processes.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Since the resolution of initial developmental challenges and the launch of these applications, we have seen a significant improvement in operational efficiency and physician engagement. The applications have enabled more precise and faster medical reviews and case tracking, leading to enhanced patient care and compliance with health standards. Feedback from users—primarily physicians—has been overwhelmingly positive, noting particularly the improved collaboration and data accessibility

 The project management was effectively handled through a combination of agile methodologies, regular stand-ups, and strategic reviews, ensuring that all project milestones were met on schedule. They did deliver items on time and whenever there was a stopper it was addressed with direct communication and resolved

What challenge were you trying to address with CodeFulcrum?

We needed to upgrade and overhaul our existing website to cope with increased traffic. We also wanted to improve our UX and overall digital experience and add Web3 innovations to the site since it needed to serve global audiences and perform well.

CodeFulcrum was tasked with redesigning our website and building it according to that design. The team created some initial design concepts for us using Figma, which included UX designs and a presentation. Once we approved the design, CodeFulcrum implemented it and built the site using Strapi. The team was responsible for testing and deploying the site. CodeFulcrum worked on UI/UX design and integrated some technology pieces to ensure the platform could cope with large traffic volume.

We submitted an RFP to a third-party platform and received responses from several agencies. CodeFulcrum's proposal was chosen because of its case studies of former work and its understanding of our project's complexity, which was demonstrated in the return presentation the team provided.

We engaged CodeFulcrum from February 2023–March 2024.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Since the site went live, we've measured its user engagement and traffic levels. We saw a slight decrease in the overall number of web visitors, which was probably due to the site's SEO. We also saw a deeper engagement per user, meaning the users we attract to the site spent longer times and read more of our content. We received good feedback from our users, saying the site's look and aesthetics were nicer. Overall, the site was a nicer space to spend time.

How did CodeFulcrum perform from a project management standpoint?

CodeFulcrum recommended using Jira to manage tasks. We mainly communicated via Slack and had weekly update meetings to address questions and concerns. There was a slippage in the overall timeline, but that was due to the complexity of some of the Web3 tools we used. Overall, CodeFulcrum delivered in the timeline we expected.
Are there any employees from the service provider's team that you would like to give a shout-out to in this review?

I want to highlight Hammad; he was very responsive and easy to work with.

What did you find most impressive about them?

CodeFulcrum was proactive and helpful in suggesting ways to incorporate some of our ideas for Web3. The Figma file the team created was very extensive with different page designs and considerations for different UX within that. Overall, CodeFulcrum understood what we were looking for and was able to deliver against that understanding.

Are there any areas they could improve?

CodeFulcrum could have provided greater clarity on how to implement some of our ideas. Some things were trickier to implement, and CodeFulcrum could have been more responsive in those instances. Overall, our experience was positive.

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

Ensure you have a clear understanding of what you're trying to achieve and deliver it in a clear brief. Our team was in a different country than CodeFulcrum's, and we had a time and language difference. I suggest that potential customers be clear and concise so that they can work straightforwardly with the team.

We wanted to continue building and developing our product. The team at CodeFulcrum were hired to help resolve bugs with loading speed and downtime as well as working on new features to improve our service.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We found CodeFulcrum largely via Upwork and then through an intensive interview with the team which included looking at how well they would work both with our existing team and how we worked.

Using many different technologies including Jenkins & Python we were able to improve the page speeds and reduce the downtime significantly. We were also able to build new features which were looking very exciting.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

Our page speeds were much better and the downtime was massively reduced. A lot of tasks were automated including scheduling tweets and running database updates

They were very good and went above and beyond on many occasions including working well into the night when things were 'breaking'. We used Slack and Zoom/Google Meet calls.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

They clearly had a lot of knowledge and we were able to get some impressive features added to RTR.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

We had an issue where the frontend team blamed the backend team and the backend team blamed the frontend team. Unfortunately CodeFulcrum gave up and walked away with very little notice which was very disappointing.

I’m a department head at a fintech company. We offer a debit card for gamers, offering a consumer and bank interface. We market the bank’s services to serve the consumer better, improve the UI, and develop an engaging loyalty system, so the consumers enjoy the bank’s services at their best.

What challenge were you trying to address with CodeFulcrum?

We wanted an external and segregated development team to work specifically on our loyalty points system and how it interacted with our main application and client. We sought CodeFulcrum to help us with this project.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

CodeFulcrum has created an API for our loyalty points program. They've used Python for development and an open-source tool called Open Loyalty for hosting. The API allows us to perform different tasks, like award points, process transactions, allocate the proper amount of points per transaction to the corresponding users, and assign additional bonuses.

In addition, CodeFulcrum has developed a piece of software that isn't directly related to our loyalty program; a one-off integration that sets the communication between teams for debit-to-debit payment. The integration is on the backend, and they've used a language in the same realm as Python.

We plan to work with them on another project next year: converting our servers into microservers.

What is the team composition?

I started working exclusively with Hammad (Co-Founder & CEO), and as the project has continued, he's brought in an additional backend engineer. 

How did you come to work with CodeFulcrum?

I initially found CodeFulcrum through Upwork. We talked outside the platform and handled the contract independently. Hammad's ability with engineering and product design was one of the reasons we chose them. 

How much have you invested with them?

We've invested between $150,000–$175,000 with CodeFulcrum so far.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with CodeFulcrum in October 2021, and our engagement is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

The loyalty points system API CodeFulcrum has developed for us has handled thousands of users consistently. Currently, we manage around 30,000 bank accounts; we’ve scaled to having roughly 100,000 total users and 10,000 monthly active users. CodeFulcrum has delivered and iterated on the product several times; it has had only minor issues over the past three months.

How did CodeFulcrum perform from a project management standpoint?

CodeFulcrum has worked effectively since the beginning; they stay on budget and meet deadlines. To communicate, we primarily use Slack and Google Meet. Initially, we met three days a week, and now we have a sit-down once a week to go over metrics and scalability. 

We also used tools for project management; we’ve migrated to Jira recently but used monday.com before that. We share code through GitLab.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I’m impressed with CodeFulcrum’s ability to work interchangeably with our central development team. Hammad has been able to stay on track throughout our partnership; he’s impressive. His time management and capacity to work under duress are excellent. For example, we had a severe issue with our hosting system, and he was able to resolve it with minimal input from me. 

Hammad had his first child a couple of months ago, and even then, he didn’t skip a beat. My working relationship with him has been a pleasure; I enjoy working with him.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I can’t think of anything for CodeFulcrum to improve; they handle everything with flying colors. During the spring, they had a set of Pakistani holidays that we would’ve liked to have been notified about earlier, but it wasn’t an issue in the end. I mentioned it to Hammad, and he let me know four weeks in advance the next time it happened. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

I recommend having as many visual interpretations of your system as possible whenever you bring someone new to your team. We had an effective onboarding with Hammad, and we’ve used the process a lot since.

Under budget and ahead of schedule. That's a rare combination. codeFulcrum is an absolute pleasure to work with and collaborate with. Their team has spent time learning about our business and our development constraints. We've worked closely with them to work through our project constraints; they use their experience to ensure that we meet our project objectives. I've used onshore, near shore and offshore development resources in the past. I've never had any team as responsive as this one.

We communicate using several collaborative tools and codeFulcrum hits all of our deadlines. They identify project blockers early on and make detailed project plans, keeping us informed of approaching project-dependent deliverable deadlines.

Their team is very approachable. Other companies make it clear that you're speaking with an engineer who lacks interpersonal skills, but codeFulcrum makes it clear that they have both technical skill and the ability to communicate effectively with others. I'm especially impressed with the UI and UX expertise.

Nothing immediately comes to mind. And I would usually have a lengthy list in past engagements with other companies.

We were looking to convert some code from PHP to Python for our backend services that didn't not web interface. We were looking to make them more efficient.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We searched through online resources for a contractor that would have the required skills and then did some interviews to get a feel for the skills and compatibility. This contractor was the best.

We ended up forking some unexpected work to the contractor. As we suddenly had an opportunity and needed the resources. The contractor was able to fulfill the needs and be flexible. The project was completed for GM in the area of window sticker creation from feed data with an admin portal for dealers. In addition, the main work of converting all the daily image processing was also completed. The technologies used were primarily Python.

I worked entirely with one member of the team as the point of contact. I frankly don't know what title they went by but I believe they were at or near the head.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

The ability to use the resources from the contractor almost exclusively to secure a major contract from GM was invaluable.

Everything they've done is done at a high level professional manner in the current methods of software design. We have used Slack which is pretty much industry standard now, and the timeliness was excellent. Pushes were possible when timelines were tight.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

I think at the end of the day the quality/cost ratio or value as it would be expressed is the best reason to use this company.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Over time the communication improved which is normal as organizations work together, so perhaps in the beginning there was not as clear an understanding of the work but that evolved.
