I’m the operations manager for Sozo Management. We specialize in business development and marketing for small e-commerce businesses.

We created numerous e-commerce sites with CODECLOUDS over our two years of working together. The projects ranged from building landing pages to developing full sites with multiple pages.

What were your goals for this project?

We wanted to deliver simple layouts that would drive traffic without confusing the consumer. They had to use the latest technology.

How did you select this vendor?

We worked with a few developers and development companies before selecting CODECLOUDS. Our first time meeting Rex (VP of Sales, CODSCLOUDS) was at a tradeshow, and he was very passionate about his business. We ultimately decided on him when our previous development company failed to deliver on a project.

We primarily worked with them to build landing pages for products and e-commerce sites, but they also created a smooth interface between our CRM and our clients' websites. Their contacts regarding merchanting, marketing, and app development have also been valuable.

What was the team composition?

We primarily interfaced via email with our team of four developers and several supervisors. We always felt comfortable going to our representative or the managers if we needed something as well.

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

Without the speed and care that CODECLOUDS provided, we wouldn’t have grown to the size we are now. Their service was critical.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

We shared our work via email and they would respond in the same thread. We also had Skype, but we primarily used that for emergencies. They never failed to deliver a daily progress report.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Their combination of quality and speed was outstanding. Most of the items we needed were turned around on the same day.

Are there any areas for improvement?

The only thing would be to better inform us of when their team would be available. That didn’t have much of an impact on us, however.

If we were to write up the numerous scopes of work in great detail, I'd be typing for days. 
The teams have completed numerous web pages for us - all having to integrate with the CRM, monitoring software and several with multiple APIs.  Many of the graphics were custom designs from scratch.  
The teams have also completed logo and label design to production spec as well as custom programming for enhanced features to promote user engagement.

Countless completed short term projects with periodic updates for ongoing projects.

While we primarily exchange and interact through a kanban style project management program to exchange directives, requirements and updates, we also interact considerably in chat groups whenever there is a more pressing need and they respond very quickly.

The most impressive attribute is the depth of their available resources from the top down. If ownership is ever needed for their insights, that can be scheduled.  They have numerous teams with specific areas of expertise, which allows for joint segmented production - graphics can be in the works with one group, while another is developing a page and then handed off for any required integrations.

CODECLOUDS was very informative and responsive throughout the project. We had very littlie/no understanding of website development so having their experts walk us through all of the options was very helpful. All of their deliverables were completed on time.

One thing that I think could have helped was being more upfront about the additional costs for applications we had to use. I was not aware of this from the start of the web development so outlining that and the options for those (i.e. gravity forms, memberpress etc.) in advance would have been helpful. Perhaps that is just a side impact of me having no knowledge of this, but I was surprised by this when we had to do it. Once I was made aware of it, CodeClouds was helpful in making recomendations and helping us choose.

The project was a complete failure at every level, including from the CEO and CTO

They missed their deliverable date by 100%, and produced nothing usable at the end. They took advantage of a small business. Their code quality was completely unsuitable for the project, would not stay running and contained completely inaccurate display of the data we required. Even the architectural design was completely wrong.

Their ability to scam their clients.

Their CTO is a complete amateur and entirely incapable of developing complex applications such as this.

Company Responses

The service provider responded on October 31, 2023.

We are disputing this Clutch review and are including evidence to Clutch that shows that the software is in production and operating with live clients, that we communicated with the client regularly through the entire process, and have time logs showing much of the work that was accomplished throughout the project.

The projected launch date was extended from the client making many additional feature requests outside of the scope and an insistence on taking on some of the setup himself creating delays on our ability to complete the project in a timely manner. Regardless, we regularly let him know that would extend the timeline. We worked through an Agile process with this client to develop the software, providing standups and sprint retrospectives throughout the entire process.

We went above and beyond the development to get this project finished and launched, including the provision of Architecture Notes, Email Log Examples, EnGarde Cloud Email_Office 365 - Setup Instructions, Mail Filters - Details & Instructions, Parser - Logic and Notes, Portal - User Manual, Production Environment - Setup Instructions, Scenarios, Sqlgrey_spam documents and more, and we continued well beyond the projected timeline without asking for any additional compensation.

The software was successfully put into production on February 4, 2021 and used for their active clients. During this time Guardian Digital claimed the software did not work and charged back all payments made to us. We demanded they stop using the software and return all source codes to us or pay us for the software. They chose to continue to use the software and NOT pay us. The result was a litigation that was found in our favor and they were forced to pay through a settlement.

Why not return the software if it is 100% unuseable? Guardian Digital is NOT representing an honest and truthful review.
