We offer software and a physical product that together is a children’s crafting product.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What business challenge were you trying to address with Code Precision?

We looked at having software developed and we didn’t have any developers on our team, so we needed to outsource the work.

SOLUTION

How did you come to work with Code Precision?

We did a little research and found Elance to hire a private development team. We posted the job that was required and John Williams [Code Precision’s CEO] put in his bid and his team sounded like the right fit to do it. We laid out very specific criteria for the job. They came back with samples of what could be done. They were very open and it seemed like they nailed all the criteria that we were looking for. Code Precision was helpful in laying out their plan of attack as to how they were going to handle the project.

Could you provide a sense of the size of this initiative in financial terms?

This project was under $10,000. We hired the Code Precision team back several times to continue work after the project was completed. I don’t think it accumulated above $10,000 including the rehires.

What is the status of this engagement?

The last time I hired them to do work was at the end of 2013.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Could you share any statistics or metrics from this engagement?

We ended up getting into retail with our product. The software was included with the product. We’re in Canada, so there’s a Canadian version of the TV show, “Shark Tank”. We have “Dragon’s Den” here and we ended up filming an episode and were able to pitch to the dragons which are the equivalent of the sharks in the US. They really liked the idea and we ended up working with one of the investors. We sold the physical product to the investors.

It was a cool experience. A large part of that is due to the software Code Precision helped to develop. It was the core of the product that we initially created.

What distinguishes Code Precision from other providers?

Code Precision was very quick and responsive to any issues. Developing software is never flawless, and there’s always going to be updates that are required to improve things. It is hard to test software on every system that’s out there and every different format. The project was a good experience. As problems would arise, I would contact them and they were quick to respond and tackle any issues.

Is there anything Code Precision could have improved or done differently?

No, working with Code Precision was good. I recently got in contact with them and it looks like they’ve continued to improve. They have a much more flawless system in place now. When I was working with them it was on Elance. They’ve stepped it up a lot, and it looks like they improved anything I would have offered as a suggestion.

What business challenge were you trying to address with Code Precision?

We had clients reaching out to us for existing solutions.  However they wanted to use them in ways that they were never designed.  So we reached out to Code Precision and were able to work with them.  They were able to help modify things.

SOLUTION

Please describe the scope of their involvement in greater detail.

They’ve done a lot of web work for us.  They have done iOS and they have also done Windows Desktop.  Windows Desktop is mainly what we do however they seem to be building a lot more iOS apps for us recently.

How did you come to work with Code Precision?

We originally found them on the Elance. We’ve been working with Code Precision for years. We’ve really enjoyed our experience working with them. 

BACKGROUND

In my previous roles as a Records and Information Management Consultant, I had many clients seeking to acquire a content and document management system that was secure, robust and easy to deploy. Most options at that time were archaic, expensive and dependent on third party software and databases which required additional licensing and could not scale. We selected Code Precision after a long procurement process because of their knowledge of relational database development and ability to develop an application with functionality that was both reliable and intelligent enough to evolve without requiring extensive debugging or rewriting of source code. We brought this solution into a number of enterprises and were pleased with both the adoption curve and the efficiency it enabled. Features included versioning, search, mail, and various other useful tools.

SOLUTION

The solution created by Code Precision allowed our small and mid-sized clients to benefit from the tools once only afforded by larger enterprises. The product itself was intuitive, dependable, scalable and required very little maintenance while allowing for much customization. We were impressed by the level of detail, computer science and logic that went into the building of the database, which leveraged a Firebird Server, as well as the User Interface which was clean and effective.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Code Precision did a terrific job of carefully analyzing and understanding our project. They kept us well informed, executed on schedule and delivered a clean code for an application that was very sophisticated. We were satisfied with both the product and features and their knowledge of software languages necessary to execute it. The team was very flexible in responding to our needs and modifications within scope, and was able to navigate through issues that would have left a less qualified developer scratching their head. I’m very happy to recommend them in any capacity.
