I’m the senior director of finance and operations at JA Central Ontario, a nonprofit organization. We provide immersive learning experiences in work readiness, financial literacy, and entrepreneurship to empower students in grades 3–12 to succeed in a global economy.

We hired CGTechnologies as our managed IT service provider. We needed a proactive and strategic partner to provide comprehensive IT management that ensured secure, reliable, and efficient operations across a hybrid work environment.

What was the scope of their involvement?
CGTechnologies provides end-to-end IT operations, including infrastructure and cloud management, Microsoft 365 administration, network performance, and continuous 24/7 monitoring. They ensure systems remain up to date, secure, and optimized through patching, maintenance, and proactive issue resolution, along with regular reporting on system health.CGTechnologies also provides cybersecurity and data protection. They implement and manage firewall protections, secure remote access (VPN), email security, and advanced threat detection. They strengthen endpoint security across all staff devices with tools such as endpoint detection and response (EDR), encryption, multi-factor authentication (MFA), and centralized device management (e.g., Microsoft Intune). They also introduce or enhance data governance and compliance practices using tools like Microsoft Purview, ensuring that sensitive donor, student, and financial data is protected through proper retention, monitoring, and recovery policies.
CGTechnologies is responsible for backup, disaster recovery, and incident response, ensuring that all critical systems and Microsoft 365 data are securely backed up and that recovery processes are tested and reliable. This includes developing and maintaining a documented incident response plan and supporting end-user recovery in the event of security incidents such as phishing or device loss.On the end-user support side, CGTechnologies provides responsive helpdesk services, including remote and on-site support, user onboarding and offboarding, device setup, and license management. They implement a structured ticketing system with defined service levels to ensure timely issue resolution, along with after-hours emergency support.Beyond operational support, CGTechnologies delivers strategic IT advisory services through a virtual CIO function. This includes regular strategic reviews, IT budgeting and capacity planning, business continuity planning, and guidance on technology improvements and procurement.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
A key measurable outcome is the speed and efficiency of onboarding, with CGTechnologies getting our organization up and running quickly with minimal disruption. The transition from the previous provider was completed efficiently with little to no downtime. Core systems, user access, and security tools were quickly assessed, stabilized, and brought under management. Our staff experienced continuity in their day-to-day work with minimal interruption.CGTechnologies also quickly identified and resolved critical risks during the transition period. They accelerated the implementation of priority security measures (e.g., MFA, endpoint protection).Overall, CGTechnologies has demonstrated strong project management and transition capability by quickly establishing a stable, secure IT environment. This rapid onboarding has reduced organizational risk and ensured our staff can continue delivering programs without delay.Full onboarding and transition to CGTechnologies was completed in less than a week. Core systems — including Microsoft 365, user access, devices, and network security — were stabilized within days. Key security measures such as MFA and endpoint protection (EDR) were implemented almost immediately. Helpdesk support and ticketing were live from day one, ensuring continuous staff support. The transition was seamless and non-interruptive, with no disruption to daily operations. Any minor delays encountered were related to the previous MSP’s offboarding and access transfer, not CGTechnologies’ onboarding process.Post-transition improvements with CGTechnologies include very quick response times. IT support requests are addressed significantly faster due to a structured helpdesk system and defined SLAs, improving day-to-day issue resolution for staff. We also have lower overall IT costs. The most impressive or unique aspects of CGTechnologies are their extremely fast, seamless onboarding. The transition was completed in less than a week, yet it still felt controlled and well-managed, with no interruption to daily operations. Their ability to stabilize quickly is also impressive. Core systems — including Microsoft 365, devices, access, and security controls — were brought under full management almost immediately, which created a sense of stability very quickly.We’ve also been impressed with their strong responsiveness from day one. Our staff has experienced very quick turnaround times for support requests, with issues addressed promptly and consistently. The team is consistently described as friendly, approachable, and easy to work with, which has made it more comfortable for our staff to engage with IT support.CGTechnologies’ support is proactive rather than reactive. They don’t just resolve issues — they often anticipate or prevent them through monitoring, structured processes, and follow-up. Our users have had a low-friction experience, even during a major transition. They’ve experienced minimal disruption and clear communication, which isn’t always typical during MSP changes. Overall, CGTechnologies has delivered a highly technical, security-focused IT transition while maintaining a very human, service-oriented experience for staff. They’ve done so quickly, smoothly, and without operational disruption.
