The monthly performance reviews gave us the opportunity to adjust our focus that lead to a positive growth in increased traffic with a continuous upward trend.

Initially we had monthly feedback sessions to review the SEO performance reviews. Now we check in bimonthly to adjust material and focus.

Capitalize Digital has designed and developed our website from scratch. They also offer SEO and Google Ads services.

Initially, we gave them an idea of how we wanted the site to look, and they came up with the design. A friend of mine made our marketing content, so we gave it to them to incorporate the design elements into the website. They included the color, logo, and font.

With SEO, Capitalize Digital gave us a list of about 100 words based on our business. We went through it and limited it to about 40 keywords. It was a collaborative process.

We only deal with two teammates, but they have a bigger team behind the scenes.

How did you come to work with Capitalize Digital?

We approached a few companies in South Africa; Capitalize Digital came back with the best proposal. We liked them because they understood what we wanted. Overall, we felt comfortable going with them.

So far into the project, we’ve spent close to $3,000.

We began our project in May 2022 and are still working with them.

We haven’t gone live, but the initial reaction has been positive. We’ve generated some leads, so we’re happy with their work. They’re very competent; we’d highly recommend them.

They’re good at meeting deadlines; there was one postponement once, but they managed it properly. We use Asana to manage the project.

I’m the marketing manager of Precision Meters, a water meter manufacturer based in Cape Town, South Africa, so I oversee our marketing activities, collaterals, digital efforts, and content.

What challenge were you trying to address with Capitalize Digital?

When I joined the company, we designed a basic website with the help of a different provider. However, I wasn’t happy with their service, so I decided to look for a capable and competent provider who had a better understanding of what we wanted and could also help us with SEO.

Our goal was to create a website that had a better flow and a cleaner interface so that it was functional and modern. Additionally, we wanted to make it SEO-friendly and faster and have it display our products in a very professional way.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Capitalize has been helping us redesign and develop our website. Initially, I provided them with a 15–21-page brief detailing what we needed on each of the site’s pages and how we wanted the images to be displayed. We already had professional images and content assets available, so it was up to them to come up with a design that suited our brand.

Sebastian (Creative Lead) is the person who took our brief and came up with an idea for the new design, and although we’ve already implemented the design, we’re still working on improving it further. For their designs, Capitalize uses the Adobe suite, and we’ve built the site on WordPress.

As for the SEO, we have a monthly retainer with Capitalize for ongoing SEO work to ensure our site is always visible. During the website development, they helped us ensure our metadata was correct and our images were formatted correctly. Although we did most of the work internally, they advised us on the best SEO practices.

Capitalize continues to support us on SEO best practices, and they always tell us if something is missing and how we can improve certain pages. For example, our product page wasn’t performing well, and they helped me realize that it had too little information on it. We’re now adding product descriptions to address this issue. Moreover, they’ve offered their help with PPC advertising, but we currently don’t have the budget for it.

What is the team composition?

I’ve worked with Oliver (Growth Hacker, Marketing Consultant & Managing Director) and Sebastijan (Creative Lead). Additionally, I’ve worked with another person in charge of the technical SEO.

How did you come to work with Capitalize Digital?

I sent out an RFP to different companies on my LinkedIn network, and Capitalize was one of the companies that responded. As previously mentioned, I was looking for a website design company that could also help me with SEO, and they offered a full-services package, which was really helpful for what we needed.

Ultimately, I chose them over their competitors because their pitch deck was amazing, and they presented themselves very professionally. Before creating the pitch deck, they asked us what we were looking for in terms of scope so that they could create a tailored offer for us.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent close to $90,000 so far. The website design project cost $40,000–$50,000, and we’re now paying an SEO and web design work retainer of about 11,500 per month.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in April 2022, and our engagement is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Capitalize has been very helpful for us in achieving our goals. Thanks to them, we now have a beautiful and fast website that looks very professional and is SEO-friendly. They’ve made all content look very neat, pristine, and of high quality while simultaneously preventing it from taking a lot of space so that it doesn’t impact our loading speed.

Before working with them, our site took around 11 seconds to load. Now, it takes around 3 seconds, which is a major improvement. As for the SEO work, we’ve also seen good results. Recently, we’ve seen more inquiries coming through our site, which is fantastic.

How did Capitalize Digital perform from a project management standpoint?

We’ve worked very well together. Obviously, no company is perfect, but whenever we’ve had challenges, Capitalize adheres to excellent communication and is always very upfront about those challenges.

Every month, they provide us with a report on SEO, where they include recommendations and areas of opportunity for growth. I occasionally meet with Oliver in person, and I collaborate with Sebastijan over Zoom and WhatsApp calls. Overall, they’re very timely with their responses, which is great.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Capitalize’s level of professionalism is outstanding. I’ve been in the marketing industry for 10 years and in the media space for 18, and they’re one of the best companies I’ve worked with. They’re solution-driven, courteous, and passionate about what they do.

Additionally, Sebastijan is a very passionate designer, and he believes in what he designs. If we want changes that he considers will impact the design negatively, he explains why those changes don’t make sense. It has been nice working with a designer that understands the science behind design.

Are there any areas they could improve?

It would be great if we had more in-person meetings, but I understand that they travel. Still, I would rather have frequent face-to-face interactions because I consider them to be more personable.

In addition to that, it would be great if they were more understanding of each business’ challenges. They keep offering me things they can do for us, but we have a limited budget and need to focus on the KPIs we’re currently working on.

Communication is very important. You should be willing to put in the work on your side. If you do so, you will definitely see results.
