CEO & managing partner. We are a national based staffing company for Fortune 500 companies, Private, Federal Contractors and the Federal Government.

For what projects/services did your company hire Capital Techies?

We were looking to partner with a team that could offer IT support and systems administration services to our Microsoft 365/Azure platform, network security, desktop support along with user cyber security training.

What were your goals for this project?

To have IT assistance on both small day-to-day issues (i.e., helping staff log into their devices) and larger projects (i.e., migrating systems to the cloud). We submit tickets to their team as needed and, in addition to addressing issues, they also provide recommendations for technologies to help us set up different processes.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

First, I did an online search for local managed services companies and eventually narrowed it down to two companies. After a few weeks of getting to know them both, which included them visiting our office, Capital Techies seemed to be the right fit for our company.

They were local, offered 24/7 systems management services, and their team had extensive security experience. Their skills and services were also within our budget, so we chose them.

Describe the project in detail.

Project started in 2016. We are on a monthly agreement with them, spending about $3,000 each month. Here and there, we also pay additional one-time costs. They're very responsive, working on any tickets we submit right away.

What was the team composition?

I have one main point of contact for larger projects, but work with others on our account team through the ticketing system on more of a regular basis.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Capital Techies IT assistance has had a hugely positive impact on our company, streamlining internal processes and saving our team time by resolving any issues as they come up relatively quickly. We're a lot more confident in our IT systems thanks to their contributions. Let's me focus on day to day business operations.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

They're very responsive, working on any tickets we submit right away. All team members have met our main POC and feel comfortable calling them for anything.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Capital Techies seems to genuinely care about the success of our business. What impresses me the most is that they refer to us partners instead of a client and they want to make sure we're running as efficiently as possible. They proactively reach out to us each week to make sure they're meeting our expectations and aren't missing anything.

Are there any areas for improvement?

There was a time I wanted them to further explain/train our end users' issues why constant issues were coming up and how to prevent them, but they've already addressed it and any issues we had. They might have had some turnover during that period because the onsite reps changed.

What was the scope of their involvement?

They handled everything imaginable from an IT perspective: computers, phones, board meetings, and more. With smaller projects we’ve done since then, he’s set up our entire infrastructure and made sure that we can all work remotely during the global pandemic. He has also played a role in the purchase of IT equipment and running campaigns.

I wasn’t part of the decision-making process, but we’ve been working with them for over a decade.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We haven’t yet run into an issue that they couldn’t overcome quickly. I appreciate their out-of-the-box thinking and his willingness to bring less expensive solutions to our attention.  

How did Capital Techies perform from a project management standpoint?

They’re super responsive, which is one of my favorite things about working with them. He can take calls after hours and address problems very quickly. They’ve never missed a deadline and communication has always been strong as well. We communicate through email, phone calls, and texts.  

What did you find most impressive about them?

He’s an efficient, responsive, and trustworthy partner.

No, I can’t think of anything.

Be clear about your expectations.

I’m the operations manager for Springboard Enterprises. I assist with everything IT related. We’re a nonprofit that helps female entrepreneurs access funding and help build their businesses.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

The team helps with any IT-related issues, providing support, and backing up our system. When we order new computers, they help us set them up and run the programs. If we need to transfer everything from an old computer to a new computer, they back up that information as well. They also help with any ad hoc issues that come up with laptops and printers.

We have one main point of contact, but he has someone helping him.

The person before me set up the engagement with Capital Techies.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We’re happy with Capital Techies. Their team is very responsible and accessible. We don’t track anything specifically because they solve all of our problems quickly.

They always respond within 24 hours. Since we’re a small nonprofit, they try and help us as much as they can.

How did Capital Techies perform from a project management standpoint?

From a project management standpoint, I’m pretty satisfied. If there are any issues, we get on the phone with them. They solve it as soon as they can. We also communicate through email.

Along with their fast response, they’re easy to work with.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Not really at this point. We’re happy with our contact person, and we’ve built a close relationship with him. If we have events in the area, we encourage him to stop by.

What challenge were you trying to address with Capital Techies?

We didn’t have in-house IT services, so they were providing those services for us.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

They functioned as administrators of our G-Suite, did on-site technology set-up, created new accounts, and managing onboarding during our rapid scaling up. As we adopted new tech platforms along the way, they were our first point of contact for support. Overall, they were our managed IT partner.

We worked primarily with two points of contact.

They came recommended by one of our staff members.

We spent about $30,000 on their work.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together for about six months and the engagement is now over because our organization has concluded its operations.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

They couldn’t have been kinder or more accommodating to our needs. By far, they were the most charismatic vendor we collaborated with. There were times when they made mistakes with permissions and user accounts that could be attributed to disorganization. However, our rapid scale-up presented them with a difficult situation.

Additionally, when they came on board, our org had limited bandwidth to manage them or perform oversight. That created habits and systems that were more difficult to clean up further down the road.

How did Capital Techies perform from a project management standpoint?

They were good at communicating and responding to the operations team. They were timely, thorough, and patient in their communications with us. Sometimes our staff experienced less attentive responses with support questions, likely because our team grew rapidly and stressed bandwidth.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They were always receptive to making changes and improvements to process on the spot. They were very flexible and adaptive to shifting responsibilities over the course of our work with them. Additionally, they always took the time to explain tech issues to the operations team so that we, in turn, could explain issues to our staff.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Sometimes given our rapidly-changing number of employees, some details got missed.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Make sure your processes for incorporating IT services are in place before hiring them. I believe the relationship will be most productive if the client has existing IT processes in place to guide the relationship.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Capital Techies helped us set up all of our IT processes, including TV conferences, our phone and fax, internet, and a corporate email. They did most of the work onsite. They continue to support our IT systems and address any issues that come up.

I've worked with about six members of their team.

How did you come to work with Capital Techies?

We hired them to support a conference in our office and everyone on their team was very professional, experienced, and knowledgeable. We decided to continue working with them.

We've spent about $250,000.

What is the status of this engagement? 

We started working with them in May 2015, and the relationship is ongoing.

They have very quick turnaround times. Initially, a different contractor was working on our phone lines and we had some issues. When Capital Techies took over, our phone systems were up and running within 24 hours.

They're very organized and hands-on. We have regular calls and keep an open line of communication.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They're very responsive and accessible. While other companies take two or three days to respond, Capital Techies turn everything around within 24 hours.

I can't think of anything.

They're very knowledgeable, so include their team in your weekly meetings. We're a remote organization and we have two offices in the DC area, so we need Capital Techies to be aware of all our IT needs.
