What were your goals for this engagement?

Our goal was to hire 2-3 strong T-shaped engineers (broad knowledge base with deep knowledge of a specific topic) for our R&D team within the shortest time frame possible. Both in-house recruitment team and Capital Recruiters were engaged.

We had a long list of Recruitment companies who could help us with our challenge. The hortlist was formed after careful reference check. Capital Recruiters was one of the five companies we talked to. It was important to understand whether our potential partner could offer relevant expertise, understanding of our market, strong team, time capacity and high level of service. Capital Recruiters seemed the ones who could make a good fit by those criteria.

Describe the engagement in detail.

After the contract was signed, we had an intake meeting (1.5h hour-long) where we discussed our goals and the position we needed help filling in detail. Within the first two weeks, we started receiving CVs of relevant candidates, together with summaries based on a pre-screen conducted by Capital Recruiters team. We had a common blacklist updated on a regular basis. Hiring was challenging because there are not so many of such specialists in the market and not many of them were ready to work within an R&D scope only. We even had a couple offers declined (one was a candidate we found, and one came from Capital Recruiters).

What was the team composition?

Dedicated team of recruiters from Capital Recruiters (3-4 people if I'm not mistaken) and our in-house team (2 people).

Can you share any outcomes from the engagement that demonstrate progress or success?

Unfortunately, we didn't manage to fill all the positions, yet we had very good candidates from Capital Recruiters, one of them declined our offer, and one more candidate was hired (his profile is C++/Machine Learning).

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Workflow was perfect, the Capital Recruiters team were pre-responsive, detail-oriented and customer-focused. I know what I'm saying because I've had experience with other vendors where I faced either overcommunication, or complete ignorance. But not in the case with this team. They know what they're doing.

Are there any areas for improvement?

Again, compared to other vendors I've worked with, there is an area for improvement in regard to negotiations support, when it is especially important to feel support from the vendor in negotiating offers with candidates and handling counter-offers. In this case, to be honest, it was partially our initiative to drive it that way.

The role was strategically important and required a combination of strong technical expertise, leadership experience, business acumen, and the ability to work in an international environment. The scope of work included requirements gathering, market mapping, candidate sourcing, screening and assessment, interview coordination, candidate presentation, and support throughout the hiring process. Key deliverables included a qualified shortlist of executive-level candidates, regular market and search updates, and successful closure of the position. The search was completed successfully, and the hired candidate met the key requirements defined at the start of the project.

The most important outcome was the successful placement of a CTO for a strategically important leadership role. Despite the complexity of the search and the limited pool of qualified candidates, Capital Recruiters delivered a strong shortlist and helped us complete the hiring process successfully. Additional indicators of success included the quality and relevance of presented candidates, efficient communication throughout the project, and the ability to close the position within the agreed search process. The engagement resulted in a successful hire who met both the technical and leadership requirements of the role.

I was also impressed by the quality of communication, professionalism, and the caliber of candidates they were able to attract for a difficult CTO search. Overall, I was very satisfied with the collaboration and the results delivered. Given the complexity of the search, I do not recall any significant issues that required improvement. Communication was clear, expectations were managed well, and the project was completed successfully. If I had to suggest anything, it would be even more frequent market insights and benchmarking updates during the search process, although the level of communication provided was already strong.
