The main goal was to scale our recruitment.

How did you select this vendor?

We negotiated with more than 10 largest recruitment agencies and chose three of them as recruitment partners. Capital Recruitment was one of them.

Capital Recruiters was responsible for pre-active search, selection, interviewing and processing candidates for the open positions at Intellias. Mostly we worked on the positions of Senior or Lead Software Engineers of different technological specializations - Java, C++, Python, etc.

What was the team composition?

The team which worked on our vacancies was from 3 to 5 recruitment consultants and the account manager.

Can you share any outcomes from the engagement that demonstrate progress or success?

As a result, we hired more than 25 Senior or Lead Software Engineers with the help of Capital Recruiters.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

We had regular meetings and a fully transparent and effective communication process.

Despite the complexity of the vacancies, Capital Recruiters were able to offer enough candidates to fill positions.

Are there any areas for improvement?

The professional level of the recruiting team needs constant improvement. Despite the fairly high level of experience of recruiters, we would offer more training for recruiters at Capital Recruiters.

We’ve made several great hires through them already. Out of our target goal of five positions, two of them were closed successfully by Capital Recruiters.

The collaboration is quite effective. There’s constant communication flow between our teams. Capital Recruiters is always flexible and able to handle changes to the requirements caused by our clients. Also, they’re very accurate and only provide profiles that are well-matched to the position.

The quality of the candidates provided is most impressive.

The number of pipeline candidates could be higher. However, these positions are very challenging so volume is less important than quality.

HIring for R&D Team. 

What were your goals for this engagement?

Our goal was to hire 2-3 strong T-shaped engineers (broad knowledge base with deep knowledge of a specific topic) for our R&D team within the shortest time frame possible. Both in-house recruitment team and Capital Recruiters were engaged.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

We had a long list of Recruitment companies who could help us with our challenge. The hortlist was formed after careful reference check. Capital Recruiters was one of the five companies we talked to. It was important to understand whether our potential partner could offer relevant expertise, understanding of our market, strong team, time capacity and high level of service. Capital Recruiters seemed the ones who could make a good fit by those criteria.

Describe the engagement in detail.

After the contract was signed, we had an intake meeting (1.5h hour-long) where we discussed our goals and the position we needed help filling in detail. Within the first two weeks, we started receiving CVs of relevant candidates, together with summaries based on a pre-screen conducted by Capital Recruiters team. We had a common blacklist updated on a regular basis. Hiring was challenging because there are not so many of such specialists in the market and not many of them were ready to work within an R&D scope only. We even had a couple offers declined (one was a candidate we found, and one came from Capital Recruiters).

What was the team composition?

Dedicated team of recruiters from Capital Recruiters (3-4 people if I'm not mistaken) and our in-house team (2 people).

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any outcomes from the engagement that demonstrate progress or success?

Unfortunately, we didn't manage to fill all the positions, yet we had very good candidates from Capital Recruiters, one of them declined our offer, and one more candidate was hired (his profile is C++/Machine Learning).

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Workflow was perfect, the Capital Recruiters team were pre-responsive, detail-oriented and customer-focused. I know what I'm saying because I've had experience with other vendors where I faced either overcommunication, or complete ignorance. But not in the case with this team. They know what they're doing.

What did you find most impressive about this vendor?

Are there any areas for improvement?

Again, compared to other vendors I've worked with, there is an area for improvement in regard to negotiations support, when it is especially important to feel support from the vendor in negotiating offers with candidates and handling counter-offers. In this case, to be honest, it was partially our initiative to drive it that way.
