I was searching for a team that could understand my initial idea and help me bring it to reality. They built up the Skill up and also designed it to look pretty as it is.

I wanted people who land on the platform to understand clearly what it is about and how they can use it. So customer experience was significant, and the Byteout crew delivered this in the best possible way.

The goal was to build the platform from the stretch and make it beautiful and smooth for the end-users.

The platform is very user-friendly; everyone is happy with it; we received 100+ reviews of satisfied customers who have only nice words to say about the platform and their experience. I think this is more than enough proof of their excellent work.

I was the only one from the Skill Up team in the communication, as I was still building my own team, and the communication was excellent. Sometimes, I went to their office to see the progress and hang out with them; they were very friendly.

The team understood very well what is the goal and idea of the Skill Up platform and delivered it even better than I imagined it to be at the beginning. They had great suggestions for improvement, and they treated me and my project like their own. I would gladly work again with the same team and recommend them to everyone.

I am sure there are some areas for improvement, but nothing is coming to my mind at the moment.

We are a startup. We don't have any CTO as cofounder. We needed someone externally to build MVP of our platform for us. Byteout seemed as a great match.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

From the very start, it seemed guys from Byteout are very deep into e-commerce solutions, and they know what they are talking about. Straightforward, decisive and action-driven. That is why we chose them over two other companies we were talking with.

We had a kick off meeting with their whole team - developers and designers. We discussed UX and functionalities of the platform and the website. After a week they came back with first wireframe and mock ups. We had few iterations on these, and after a month in total we had finals.

They delivered custom-made webshop with payment system integrated and CMS running in behind within 2 and a half months, 2 weeks before the deadline. We fine tuned the rest of the time.

At the kickoff they had a project manager, backend dev, frontend dec, and a designer.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

We were very pleased with the outcome. We managed to register 900 customers in the last year through the platform. We are growing 30% YoY. The platform is still the same, we didn't have any breakdowns since the platform was built.

We were communicating through slack and email. Project manager was our main point of contact, and she translated our thoughts to their team in a very good manner. The whole project was delivered 2 weeks before the deadline.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

We loved their optimism and can-do attitude. Even when some of our ideas were difficult to code, they found another, easier way to make idea work.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Nothing that I noticed. We are looking forward to work with them again in the near future.

Toschas is a custom-tailored software development company concentrating on the web and mobile apps for the US and Swiss markets. At the time of the cooperation with Byteout, I've been working as a Technical Advisor at Toschas, overseeing our engagement with contractors, the quality of their work, and how to best satisfy our clients with the software we produced.

The goals were to build an iOS with features similar to the existing web platform and, to a limited extent, follow the further development of the web platform by introducing new features.

We evaluated a few dev shops and Byteout satisfied our needs.

It is an enterprise-grade iOS app for a real estate platform. It required some custom controls (e.g., a complex checklist page they've built) and implementing a somewhat complex filtering UI. The app also supports various authentication mechanisms, including 2FA and Touch ID/Face ID. The app is fully covered with universal links. It looks modern, they've followed our UI style guide and designed a few pages/controls we didn't already have.

What was the team composition?

2 iOS developers on the Byteout side and, occasionally, a designer.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

They have managed to deliver everything we asked them from. They've been very communicative and pleasant to work with. They have respected the deadlines. We are continuing to work with them.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Due to the small team, we kept it pretty light but organized. They joined our Slack workspace and collaborated with other teams to sync on the progress (e.g., with the backend/API team) and version release timing.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

We were impressed with the ease of reaching an agreement with them and the quality of their work.

Are there any areas for improvement?

If I were to nitpick, I'd say their customer experience could be fancier, especially when it comes to issuing invoices and timesheets. They are accurate and the information is as you'd expect it to be but they could have a dashboard where it's easy for you to all they have done for you and download any of the invoices they issued to you.

I am CEO of the company TeleSkin ApS stationed in Esbjerg, Denmark. We develop software solutions for healthcare. We developed mobile application skinScan, solution that gives its users support in their own self examination of skin using image and history driven analysis, but also provide easy access to supportive advice by live doctors.

For what projects/services did your company hire Byteout Software?

After our successful application launch in Denmark and Norway, we realised that we need to fast introduce new features in the application and also to redesign existing user interface based on feedbacks from our users. Due to the lack of manpower within the company itself to fulfil business needs we decided to outsource some development.

What were your goals for this project?

The goals of the project were to fully develop "family mode" as a new feature, enable the colour scheme change within the entire app based on remote xml file and to redesign the user interface in the application based on feedbacks gathered from the users with main focus on cases comparison and analysis result page.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

I was already familiar with work that Byteout provided to other companies and based on their feedback (which was entirely positive) it was only logical for me to approach them and ask for help.

The project was focused on IOS mobile platform, since in that moment we did not have Android version of the app. We did not had that much documentation and wireframes available.

What we did had was design files and intended flow design based on what we thought it should be. We agreed that we start from that, but we were willing to accept new approaches if needed, as long as we stay within the defined timeframe for project finish.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The project was scheduled to last for 12 months with major features in place for 8 months and the refactoring and refining the solution for the last 4 months. Solution was covered with test cases and it was bug free.

They also agreed that they will also develop one more feature that was not on the project list within the budget that we agreed. It was natural extension of the work efforts that was already put into. The user feedback was completely positive.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The workflow was highly effective. The project was organised in 3 stages. Firs and third stage was executed remotely, while the second one was executed in our company in Esbjerg, were 2 developers from Byteout joined us. We used our tools for progress tracking, code consistency and review. For that we used Microsoft devops platform (tasks, documentation, testing) and git.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

We hit all deadlines. I suppose that it is because together we defined project scope and the timeframes for the deliverables, but keeping our business deadlines as a hard reference. I was also impressed with the patience that they had with us, because in the beginning of the project, we were not 100% sure how the project should be executed and to what extent we should go with the project.

Those initial discussions and their help in that aspect was probably one of the most critical elements of the project. Also, the quality of the developers who were assigned to work with us was at the highest level. They know their job and, equally important, they know how to communicate with the parties involved.

Are there any areas for improvement?

There is always areas for the improvement, but in this case, we were highly satisfied with the final result that came out from our work together.

I’m the general manager of a company that sells auto parts online.

We needed an IT partner to manage the backend of our system.

Working in PHP, the team handles backend and IT infrastructure. Particularly, they are in charge of backend software for order management. 

They’ve been working on this project and maintaining its functionality for over ten years. Our relationship has evolved in that time. At first, I gave them a couple of tasks, which later turned into building multiple platforms and maintaining backend systems.

I work with one of their partners and two PHP developers. The partner is a PHP expert as well.

How did you come to work with Byteout Software?

I’ve been working with the founding partners for over a decade. Ten years ago, I met them while searching for services. Over time, I’ve gotten to know them, meeting them many times in person.

So far, I’ve spent about $500,000 with them.

We started the project in July 2008, and the work is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Working very closely with them, I know they’ve had a positive impact on my business. The site is fully-functioning. If something goes wrong, they’re always available to fix it. I’ve received very good internal feedback from my team about their commitment to the project. It often feels like we’re all on one team together. They do everything they promise, and I appreciate their hard work.

How did Byteout Software perform from a project management standpoint?

They were fantastic at updating me through Skype, email, WhatsApp, etc. They stayed on time, on budget, and made sure that they delivered the promised services.

Their approach was a great fit for me. The team stands behind their work and has a very good grasp of complex technologies.

I’m extremely pleased with their work, and there’s nothing they’re doing incorrectly right now. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

The best thing anybody could do is build a relationship with them, treating them as partners. The partnership can be what you want it to be: a service provider-to-client relationship or a growing friendship. The closer you become with them, the more opportunity they’ll have to holistically understand the project.

I'm the owner of an affiliate marketing company. We have several projects involving tennis, cycling, fishing equipment, and ammunition.

What challenge were you trying to address with Byteout Software? 

I'm not a developer, so for me, the challenge is how to actually get my ideas made. We’ve been working with Byteout Software on a number of projects. The most recent project is an app that involves selling, finding, and renting crypto mining equipment.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Byteout Software developed our crypto miner deals app. They use the Symfony framework on a PHP stack for the backend and React for the frontend. The most important feature is to be able to do everything in real time. Dealing with the price volatility of bitcoins and knitting all that together is quite difficult. They scrape a lot of sites in order to produce the best deals for crypto mining equipment and contracts in real time.

I mostly deal with the CEO. I also talk directly to the lead developers on each project, as well as a project manager.

A friend of mine in Serbia recommended them to me.

We just celebrated eight years of working together and the engagement is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Byteout Software is really into blockchain technology. They encouraged me to pursue this app. They pretty much made the whole thing, leading the entire development process. I trust them, which is quite important. I get a lot of good tips and ideas from them about my whole business and potential new revenue streams.  

How did Byteout Software perform from a project management standpoint? 

Their project management is much better now than when we started eight years ago. Their staff was smaller, so it was just a couple of us talking every day. Now there's a process. I know whom to talk to for every project. Byteout Software uses a scrum system. I talk with them on a regular basis. We have meetings and then I get daily reports. I'm satisfied with the process, and I like that I don't have to go through a lot of hoops. Everything is smooth and easy.

What did you find most impressive about them? 

They definitely have good developers and do good work. Byteout Software’s level of involvement in my company is what I like the most. I can start with just a concept and I know they’ll get excited by the idea as well. It's why I use them for everything.

Are there any areas they could improve? 

I can’t really think of anything. It’s probably impossible for them to have everything in house. For example, we needed an SEO expert. They didn't have it in house but they found us a good outside resource. One way or another, they provide whatever I need. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers? 

Being open with them is quite important so they actually understand what you're talking about. Just giving them tasks—do this, do that—isn't the best approach. I tell them what I want to achieve and let them take care of the tasks. They don't need to be micromanaged.

I’m the CEO of Cryptic Legends, a game about collecting heroes, which are stored in a blockchain network. Players can collect heroes, adjust their abilities, and use them in gameplay fights against other players.

I engaged Byteout Software to help build the blockchain components of the game, along with the UI/UX elements.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Byteout Software developed our client-side web application using React. We worked closely with them on design, starting with a game logo. We collaborated heavily, and the game had an organic evolution. The testing process was quite lengthy, as we got input from team members and external stakeholders. They completed their blockchain work in parallel, but the process started a bit later.

They assigned two UI designers, one junior and one senior. We also worked with a frontend developer and a blockchain developer.

We wanted to transition Pamela Coromoto's ecommerce platform to Shopify for the extra features and more room to grow. The Byteout team was on top during the process and made sure the whole switch happened with minimum downtime, which was our big concern.

Our upgrade to Shopify couldn't have gone better - our site is faster and the feedback is great. Loyal customers noticed the difference. Byteout did an excellent job managing the project!
