ByteCrab provides web development and data extraction support for an IT company. Their team works within the client's existing project structure, collaborating with their developers and following the workflow.
ByteCrab has helped the client maintain the engineering capacity required for several projects while keeping their existing delivery processes and client relationships intact. Their developers repeatedly deliver components that the client can move into production.
BACKGROUND
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I'm the founder and CEO of Integrality, an IT company that builds robust external data pipelines and AI agents for businesses, specializing in healthcare, MedTech, and custom SaaS solutions, ensuring high uptime, secure data handling, and seamless integration without the need for multiple vendors.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with ByteCrab?
We needed additional experienced developers who could join our existing delivery teams for several client projects. In particular, we needed engineering capacity for web data and data extraction-related projects while keeping project management, client communication, and overall delivery responsibility within Integrality.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
ByteCrab provides developers who become part of Integrality-led delivery teams. They contribute to development work on web data and data extraction projects, including engagements connected with Import.io and Bright Data. Their engineers work within our existing project structure, collaborate with Integrality's developers and project management, follow the established workflow, and are responsible for agreed parts of the implementation.ByteCrab's developers are mainly responsible for implementation-level components within our existing data-collection systems. This includes building and maintaining individual web collectors/scrapers, extraction and parsing logic, transforming and normalizing collected data into the required structure, and handling validation and error cases. They also help troubleshoot collectors when source websites change or introduce additional anti-bot complexity and integrate their components into the broader data pipelines managed by Integrality. Depending on the engagement, they work on specific modules rather than owning the entire platform, while Integrality remains responsible for the overall architecture, client communication, deployment, and delivery.
What is the team composition?
We work with 6-10 developers from ByteCrab.
How did you come to work with ByteCrab?
We found them through a referral. Their technical experience, flexibility, and ability to work as an extension of an existing engineering team were the main reasons we chose them. We weren't looking for a vendor that would take over an entire project; we needed developers who could integrate into our processes and work alongside our team.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working together in May 2022, and the engagement is ongoing.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
The clearest outcome is our repeat collaboration. After our initial experience, we continue involving ByteCrab's developers in additional engagements. They help us maintain the engineering capacity required for several client projects while keeping our existing delivery processes and client relationships intact. For a staff augmentation relationship, our willingness to repeatedly bring their engineers into new projects is probably the most meaningful measure of success. We evaluate their impact through operational metrics used on the projects themselves: delivery against agreed timelines, number of defects found after implementation, stability of the collectors in production, successful extraction rates, and whether the data pipelines can maintain the required processing volume. We also look at how quickly issues are resolved when source websites change or collectors need adjustment. The strongest practical indicator is that their developers repeatedly deliver components we can move into production, and we continue involving ByteCrab in additional engagements.Overall, their involvement helps us increase delivery capacity and keep multiple collector-related tasks moving in parallel instead of waiting for our internal team to become available. On maintenance work, source changes and broken extraction logic can be assigned and resolved faster, which reduces the time collectors remain degraded. We also see good production acceptance of the components they deliver: after review and integration, the collectors and parsing modules are stable enough to be used in live client workflows, with defects handled through the normal engineering process rather than requiring major rework.Beyond the individual technical metrics, the biggest measurable impact is on our delivery capacity and continuity. ByteCrab allows us to run more development work in parallel, respond faster when collectors require maintenance, and avoid bottlenecks when our internal team is already committed to other client work. Their developers are able to contribute production-ready components within our existing processes without requiring us to create a separate management layer. For us, the strongest outcome is the repeat use: after the initial engagements, we continue involving ByteCrab's developers in additional projects. That's the clearest indication that their contribution is reliable and commercially useful for Integrality.
How did ByteCrab perform from a project management standpoint?
Overall project management and client delivery are handled by Integrality. ByteCrab's developers integrate into our processes and work with our project managers and engineers. Communication is straightforward, and they're responsive when requirements or priorities change. This setup works well because we don't need a separate management structure around their engineers.
What did you find most impressive about them?
We are impressed by their ability to operate as part of another software company's delivery organization. Some outsourcing relationships create an additional communication and management layer. With ByteCrab, we're able to integrate developers directly into the existing team and continue managing the project in essentially the same way. That makes them particularly useful for engagements where Integrality needs to increase engineering capacity without handing over control of the project.
Are there any areas they could improve?
Nothing material comes to mind from these engagements. The cooperation model works well for what we need.
