Bit by Bit has provided us exceptional IT consulting services, and we’ve been happy with the partnership. We had to make miracles happen to get our New York office up and running, and Bit by Bit was immensely helpful during the process. Even though we gave them short notice, they jumped in and helped us move mountains to set up our office equipment.

Bit by Bit has been on top of things from the beginning. They’ve been proactive about gathering quotes from vendors and surveying the office floor to provide accurate time estimates. They’ve consistently provided timely, thorough project assessments and been transparent in their pricing.

Bit by Bit has dedicated a very calm yet responsive team to our project, which we’ve appreciated. Whenever we’ve experienced delays with networking equipment or other things, they’ve communicated upfront and helped us find a solution. Chet has been very responsive throughout the project and has promptly addressed any questions or concerns. We’ve primarily communicated via email and phone.

We’ve been most impressed with the team’s prompt response time and networking expertise. Bit by Bit has significant tenure, which has shined through in their quality of work and impressed our executives.

I work for a chamber of commerce of a city as a VP of marketing communications. We advocate for the business community in our area to grow and amplify their voices regarding state and local governmental issues. What challenge were you trying to address with Bit by Bit Computer Consultants?

Our main challenge is that we are small staff that does the work of a very large organization. We live in one of the 50 largest cities in the country, and our job is to cultivate our business community, so we needed to bring in an IT company to provide managed services to help us do great things for our city.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

From the get-go, we knew that our system desperately needed to be updated, so Bit by Bit moved us to a cloud-based server. They’ve also made recommendations to about our technology, including our laptops, which helped mobilize our staff during the pandemic and ensured everyone had what they needed to work from home. If we run into any issues, they’re very swift to respond to us.

Even if an issue we’re having isn’t necessarily within the scope, they’re always happy to step in. For example, one of the projectors in our conference room went out, but they ordered a new one and got it installed for us. They took care of this in a very efficient manner. We appreciate that they work both on- and off-site. They also run a ticketing system for us.

We work with a variety of people, including a contract manager that does a great job of checking in with us. There’s another resource who oversees our projects: adding new software, changing systems, and more.

We’re very thankful that they’re a member of our organization. We sent out an RFP to all our members, and after conducting interviews and discovery meetings with 14 companies, we decided Bit by Bit was the best option.

We’ve been working together since July 2021.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

I don’t have quantifiable metrics, but our staff can now work much more efficiently thanks to Bit by Bit’s work. Thanks to their ticketing system, we can connect with them individually.

They’ve made it much easier to manage our problems. We know that when we reach out to Bit by Bit, we’re going to get an efficient solution. Additionally, they take our issues personally and understand that we need to move past them as quickly as possible.

They aren’t just here to take our money, but they genuinely care about our business and making our business more effective. We communicate over email.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They will take your business seriously; Bit by Bit understands that, no matter the size of your business, your purpose is important. They do their very best to make sure you succeed. If there’s an issue, they step in immediately.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, I think they’ve done a great job. If I had to pick something to say, however, I would say that it’s difficult to manage people who are very busy. A good idea would be to follow up with them consistently.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

It’s the right decision to work with Bit by Bit. It’s always good to work with the vendor that you feel connects the most with your business. Time and time again, Bit by Bit has connected with us and shown that they care about what we do.

I’m the litigation support associate and paralegal at a boutique law firm that handles civil litigation cases.

For about eight years, we were using an outsourced IT team, but we weren’t happy with them. As a result, we hired Bit by Bit.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Bit by Bit has taken over the management of our in-house server. They’ve also consulted with us and implemented a new cloud-based system for us so that we don’t have to use a physical server. The team has handled some of our big projects, such as moving our files into the cloud and managing all of our software tools. 

Throughout all of this, they provide technical support for any computer issues that arise. If our employees have any computer issues, we call Bit by Bit and they resolve the issue. If we want to buy a computer, they purchase and deliver it to us. On top of that, they’ve implemented cybersecurity measures for us; their resources have set up two-factor authentication for some of our work and VPN servers. 

What is the team composition?

I work closely with Dara (Senior Account Executive). She keeps tabs on our tech needs on an ongoing basis; she monitors their ticketing system to ensure that their resources are attending to our technical needs. Apart from her, we usually work with 3–4 technicians — these people troubleshoot the problems we have when we open a ticket. 

For our cloud migration effort, we deal with Alexis (Senior Systems Engineer). He’s built a custom Microsoft server for us and has trained us on how to access and use that server. Our team has also collaborated with Melanie (IT Helpdesk Manager).

I found Bit by Bit through Google. 

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent around $50,000. 

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in January 2020, and the engagement is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

We’ve had far fewer technical issues; our emails used to go down at least once a month. Since Bit by Bit took over, our email has only gone down once in two years. Overall, we’re 100% satisfied with their work, and Bit by Bit has exceeded our expectations.

How did Bit by Bit Computer Consultants perform from a project management standpoint?

Their project management skills are excellent. They’ve exceeded expectations in terms of not just meeting deadlines but also delivering ahead of schedule. In terms of budgeting, the team is excellent at managing our budgetary expectations. In fact, the engagement is costing us less money than we’ve anticipated. 

To communicate, we mainly use a ticketing system, which is generated by email. In general, we reach out to our account manager via phone calls. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

Bit by Bit explains what needs to be done and why we need it in a way that’s easy to understand for people that don’t have the technical vocabulary or expertise. On top of that, they can adapt to the changes we need to make. 

For instance, during the COVID-19 pandemic, we’ve had to change the way we work. Bit by Bit has laid out options for us and executed them. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

In general, I’m not a fan of ticketing systems. We never know when we’ll get any action on our tickets. This hasn’t been a problem with Bit by Bit since they’re responsive and fast, but there’s probably a better way to handle our tech support issues. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

I recommend Bit by Bit — don’t hesitate to engage and work with them.

I’m the deputy director of the National Academy of Design, a nonprofit arts organization. We conduct programs and exhibitions, and we serve a membership of artists and architects.

Bit by Bit is our IT services provider. They monitor our computer and server equipment, ensure that we have the appropriate security, and offer all kinds of support on a day-to-day basis. Most of their tasks are conducted virtually, but they also schedule on-site visits when necessary.

I’ve worked with a sales rep, a helpdesk manager, and about six tech resources.

Since working with Bit by Bit, our tech support issues have dwindled. I attribute that to their managed support processes.

Bit by Bit is excellent at project management. They’re good at sticking to timelines and budgets. They rarely bring up the idea of charging us beyond our monthly contract amount; their team is very fair and flexible. In addition, they’re communicative and very diligent about following through if we fail to respond. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

Bit by Bit’s responsiveness is really great — they resolve issues promptly. Additionally, they are very generous with their time and are honest with their work. I don’t ever feel like I’m getting scammed as their team is upfront about everything.

I can’t think of anything.

Ask Bit by Bit’s rep if your ideas are possible, and they will come back with ideas and possible solutions.

I’m the head of an IT organization in the restaurant supply business. We service all restaurants with everything but the food — this could be plates, cups, silverware, pots, pans, baker’s racks, chef’s clothing, or anything in between. We’ve grown extensively over the last couple of years.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Bit by Bit provides a range of IT services. They support everything from account creation to hardware provisioning and deploying and maintaining our new network infrastructure. They’ve helped us build our new distribution center on the West Coast, and they’re also providing security services.

What is the team composition?

They have about 10 people in different roles. We’ve had an executive sponsor, a sales account manager, a project manager, on-site technical support, network engineer specialists, and a phone resource. Basically, Bit by Bit has assigned a resource to our project in any area where we have a technical need.

How did you come to work with Bit by Bit Computer Consultants?

We went through an RFP process to select our managed service provider, and they were one of the firms that participated. Ultimately, we chose them as partners for the initiatives they described previously.

How much have you invested with them?

To date, we’ve spent more than $150,000, and the investment is growing. We pay a monthly support fee for their services.

What is the status of this engagement?

We began our partnership in April 2021, and it’s ongoing. We’re three months into a three-year agreement with them.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

They’ve been exceptional at working with our business users and internal IT team. Our new distribution center exceeded expectations for the level of support and quality of work that they provided. I couldn’t recommend them more.

How did Bit by Bit Computer Consultants perform from a project management standpoint?

They’ve performed exceptionally well. Bit by Bit has been very diligent in ensuring that we stay on target and work based on the timeline. We’ve laid out our part, and they work closely with us to adjust needs based on our considerations and account for those adjustments to get the deliverables. They’re receptive to our needs. We communicate primarily over email and phone, and sometimes a bit of Microsoft Teams.

For project management, we use Bit by Bit’s toolset to track tickets and see how they manage our initiatives. It was one of the reasons why we selected them; they had a suite of tools available that they could leverage to work with us.

What did you find most impressive about them?

What distinguishes them from other providers is that they have a great scale to support a business like ours and still treat us like friends and family. We have a close, personal relationship, and we want that from our managed service provider. We don’t want a partner just on the corporate, bureaucratic level.

In that sense, Bit by Bit has been very accommodating and extremely flexible when working with us. They’ve gone above and beyond what’s required. They recognize that our success is in everyone’s interest, and they work hard to help us get there.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, they’ve exceeded our expectations since they’ve come on board.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Be upfront and provide as much documentation and environmental background as you can. That’ll allow them to hit the ground running faster. For us, that was one of our challenges. We severely lacked documentation for our environment, so they’ve worked closely with us to bring us on board.

If any of our devices have an issue, they access them remotely to fix the problem.

They’re our IT service provider; they support our entire IT infrastructure.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We were looking for an IT service provider that could support our firm and update our infrastructure.

Since working with them, they’ve moved us from Windows 7 to Windows 10, and most recently, to a Microsoft Azure environment. They’ve helped us move away from hardware and have helped us become entirely cloud-based.  

They’ve even upgraded some of our firewall protection. We’ve also outsourced our server management to them. They support our thin clients, which are basically dummy terminals to the internet.

We originally worked with the head of client solutions. After that, we began working with key technical team members, Bruce (President), and Melanie (IT Help Desk Manager).

What was the scope of their involvement?

Bit by Bit provides managed IT services, so they pretty much do all of our IT. One area they’ve done well in is updating our servers. They were able to analyze the system and see what was working for us, what wasn’t working for us, and what would work better.

They’ve also helped us update to a more current IT environment. In doing so, they’ve updated firewalls and servers. They’ve also streamlined our setup and the way our whole IT network is organized. They have made good recommendations about equipment and software that we could use to help with the process.

They provide daily support, which we were previously lacking.

What is the team composition?

They’re big enough that they have different people who handle different things. For instance, they have someone who handles security issues and multiple people work on the help desk.

On a daily basis, we work with 4–5 people, such as the person who handles our account, a help desk person, and the person who does some of the purchasing.

I’m not sure how I found them initially; I might have even found them through Clutch. We interviewed 3–4 different managed IT providers, and we liked the way Bit by Bit provided all of the services and a full team of experts for different aspects of the business.

We measure their success by how IT is performing for our office. Right now, it’s performing better than it had been. We’ve seen improvements in their setup, speed, and issue handling. It’s been positive.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Bit by Bit serves as a trusted advisor who interfaces with other partners. They advise on particular products that we should consider. Most of their work is on the resell side; when we are interested in particular products, we go to Bit by Bit, and they vet the product for us and touch base with those vendors. If there is an information security product that I need, I reach out to Bit by Bit and ask what they think of the particular market and who they know.

They have also done low-level auditing work. For example, we requested an audit of our firewalls and their configuration, and they provided that service to us. We also needed a HIPAA risk assessment.

What is the team composition?

We work with 5–6 people from Bit by Bit.

How did you come to work with Bit by Bit Computer Consultants?

I have a longstanding relationship with them. I’ve worked with them for more than 20 years. This is the third organization that I’ve been with that I’ve introduced Bit by Bit as a value-add reseller.

At my current company, the total package is around $250,000.

I started working at my current company in May 2019, and we brought Bit by Bit on shortly after that.

Bit by Bit has really assisted with the negotiation process at my current and past organizations.

How did Bit by Bit Computer Consultants perform from a project management standpoint?

I haven’t used Bit by Bit in that capacity, as I generally manage my own projects. On a scale of 1–10, I’d give them a 7 or 8 for communication and following schedules.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their honesty distinguishes them from other providers. I feel that they have my best interests at heart. When dealing with some larger vendors, it’s good to know that we’re getting the best bang for our buck.

Are there any areas they could improve?

In my opinion, they’re on the cusp of dealing with medium–enterprise business. I think they probably need to mature a little bit faster in getting to that next level.

Any advice for potential customers?

This applies to all vendors. You should always be prepared and bring everything that you have to the table. Leave very little open to interpretation.

We are are a law firm specializing in insurance defense. I am the IT director for the firm.

The previous IT provider was not meeting our IT needs. Communication needed improvement and projects always seemed to run over budget.

What were your goals for this project?

We wanted to move our servers and desktops to the cloud and to find an IT company that understood our needs as a law firm.

SOLUTION

How did you select Bit by Bit Computer Consultants?

We felt Bit by Bit was a perfect fit for the firm. They understood our vision and listened. They were also very flexible with the solution.

Their pricing was very reasonable for the services that they were providing.

Describe the project in detail.

Bit by Bit began by migrating all servers and desktops to the cloud, in addition, they migrated our email to O365.

They also provide monthly support for our network and as well as monitoring of all critical systems.

What was the team composition?

We were assigned an Account Manager as well as a Technical Account Manager. There was also a tech team that worked behind the scenes with the Technical Account Manager.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Bit by Bit executed what was promised. The weight of managing the servers was taken off our shoulders and Bit by Bit has been doing a wonderful job with managing our network.

This was all completed on time and on budget.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Communication was very good throughout the project and continues to be good with the ongoing managed services that Bit by Bit provides.

When an issue arises, Bit by Bit is very responsive and someone from the team is always available to assist.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

We have been very impressed with the expertise of the techs. They really know what they are doing and they think outside of the box to develop a solution that best meets our needs.

Are there any areas for improvement?

Overall we are very happy. We would like to have a better understanding of our server updates and when they should be applied.
