To reimagine our existing website.

What were your goals for this project?

To better represent the current moment in our industry and the contribution/impact the agency has made over the past two plus decades to the entertainment industry. We also need to reimagine the site for current users on mobile devices as the original site was static and didn't feel like much of a destination.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

I think the most important outcome was the emotional response we had from the staff about tackling this kind of project during a global pandemic. Given that everyone was working remotely, it was an opportunity for them to see that the agency was not only surviving, but thriving.

And they were proud to share it with their friends and family which is the best endorsement I could imagine. Only time will tell as to whether or not the site itself supports our goals for continued growth but certainly this is a good start.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Communication was ongoing - there were expected stops and starts because of the need for new assets and time required to consider design elements, but there was never a moment where we were out of touch with Mark or his team.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Mark is deeply committed to customer satisfaction as much as he is the design component of his business. There is no hour of the day or day of the week where we felt we couldn't reach out with a question or a comment.

Even during this uncertain time, when I'm sure he was dealing with his own personal pandemic related challenges, he was always optimistic and enthusiastic about the task at hand which made the whole process very satisfying and the results speak for themselves. He and is team did a great job across the board.

The creative was executed well with all of the elements we requested now in full force on the site. The partnership was fantastic from start to finish! and I am very thankful for Mark's support in breathing new life into our existing site.

Bionic Egg mostly made aesthetic improvements to our WordPress website. The team renewed pictures and graphics based on wireframes we collaborated on with them. We also had them improve some of the video streaming capabilities on the site. They also referred us to some content creators.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

We didn’t keep any metrics on the site, but we did notice an increase in visitors to the page. Throughout the project, the team Bionic Egg did exactly what we’d asked of them.

Mark was extremely dedicated to the project, working evenings and weekends and remaining available at all times to meet deadlines.

Most of our communication took place via email and an occasional phone call.

Bionic Egg really invested in our project. We felt the personal touch throughout the entire engagement, and it was very impressive.

Sometimes the timing between our teams is off, but it’s very minor.

Be very specific about what you need, but also be openminded and ready to listen to input about ideas and designs.

I’m the founder of Limbic Medical, a medical practice with a unique interdisciplinary approach to patient care from the operating room to the living room.

We hired Bionic Egg to create a branding package that represents our unique practice and conveys our identity.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Mark (Owner, Bionic Egg) created a logo and a brand guide, which includes the fonts and colors. He took the idea of the limbic system, a key component to our practice, and drew a surrealist interpretation of the anatomical issue. He took an approach that was scientific while artistic.

I primarily worked with Mark, but some other teammates were involved in the execution.

I followed a referral to hire Bionic Egg. I talked to several companies but Mark was the only one who seemed to understand what we needed. He articulated everything back to me and his price was extremely competitive. His portfolio was also quite compelling, so it was a no brainer.

We began working together in January 2019 but we’ve gone through several phases of work with Mark.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

The quality of the work speaks for itself. All of the materials are amazing from a loading speed and responsiveness perspective, but the real metric of success can be seen in the design and creative aspects.

Everyone who looks at the work is floored and finds it beautiful. Friends of mine and branding professionals have remarked on it as world-class work. Mark nailed it and did an amazing job. The drawing was uplifting but had gravitas—it was amazing. 

How did Bionic Egg perform from a project management standpoint?

He’s been great and is very detail-oriented through every part of the process. The project is fully mapped out and he keeps me updated about what he needs from me. The only issue was my ability to turnaround feedback and resources, but there are no problems on their side. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their ability to synthesize a radical, novel idea in a way that most people can’t do is what makes them stand out. Mark hasn’t worked in this area too much since most of his portfolio is outside of medical practices, so he brought an outside perspective to make something extremely medical yet universal. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

There’s nothing that I can think of. We’d love it if he were on West Coast time so we could schedule things without the time difference, but he’s always been really available.

I needed to redevelop my website and incorporate my blog into the same platform. The new site needed to capture my personality, but also needed to be user-friendly and easily updated and managed.

What was the scope of their involvement?

I can’t say enough good things about Mark (Founder & Designer, Bionic Egg). After an initial call and brainstorming session, he just got it and set out to create something beautiful and easy to use.

He’s done a lot for my site. One thing I love is my recipe template. I can develop recipes, and viewers can easily print them. He incorporated both my website and blog into one platform seamlessly, designed my logo, connected all my social media, and managed to make everything look fantastic. The content management system allows me to change images, add videos, or change text whenever I need to.

I only worked directly with Mark, but I believe he had a team member working on my site as well.

A friend referred Mark to me several years ago. He's so quick to understand his clients' visions. He went above and beyond with the development of my first website, so I turned to him again for its redevelopment. He’s the best web developer I’ve ever worked with.

What is the status of this engagement?

We’ve worked together for a long time, but this new site was built between October–December 2018. The process could have gone faster, but I needed to get a few things ready before we could complete the project.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

My website and blog content are crucial to my work. It would be difficult for me to get new work without it. This platform is both an online resume and blog. It allows me to publish original content and allows my employers to both access my reel and keep up with what I’m currently working on. I believe this site is driving traffic to my social media accounts and is a wonderful marketing tool.

How did Bionic Egg perform from a project management standpoint?

He’s easy to work with and flexible. Changes happen quickly, and he gets back to me right away whenever I have a question. He’s incredibly detail-oriented and always acts immediately. Most of our conversations were via email, but occasionally had a conversation when I couldn’t convey my thoughts in writing. He provided a training manual for me, but the management tool is so easy to use I hardly need it.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Mark is a hard worker with an amazing design sense.  His web designs are creative, clean, user-friendly and beautifully laid out. I appreciate his insight and believe he created a site that will help me stand out in my very competitive industry. He immediately understood my goals and requirements, but then took the concept to the next level.

I have zero complaints. I'm extremely happy with Bionic Egg's work.

Go in with a vision, but be open to feedback. Mark really knows what he’s doing, and I value his opinion and his knowledge.

We contacted Bionic Egg for branding identity work, which involved updating our logo and refreshing our website.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

In the beginning, Mark (Found and Director, Bionic Egg) quickly proposed various options and design ideas for a full branding solution. This included all print collateral, website color updates, print ad designs, and a new logo. Once we decided on our direction, he worked closely with us to modify the colors and fonts until we were satisfied. He currently continues to provide his services as needed.

When we needed someone to update our logo and refresh our website, Mark was our lifesaver. He took the time to work with us, making adjustments until we were happy with the designs. Internally, everyone liked the logo and the brand colors.

I appreciate how flexible Mark was with our schedule. Since we have a busy office, the project didn’t always get our immediate attention. However, he remained patient with us throughout the entire process.

I am the paralegal at a law firm that mainly handles commercial litigation and real estate action.

What challenge were you trying to address with Bionic Egg?

We wanted to take our previous simple, less attractive website and update it. Our goal with Bionic Egg was to modernize the site and make it edgier.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Bionic Egg executed all of our design and development work, including creating a news section; the only thing they didn’t do was fill the site with detailed content, like attorney biographies. We have two offices which practice completely different areas of law; Bionic Egg built two unique sites for each office and made sure that the original landing page properly directs clients to the appropriate webpages.

I communicated directly with Mark Johnson (Founder and Director, Bionic Egg) who I know had others working with him.

I found them via yelp.

What is the status of this engagement?

The entire project was completed April—August 2014. After completion, Mark provided us with the permissions and instructions necessary for updating the news section and tweaking content. Mark continues to help us—as needed—with creating new biography pages and answering questions.

I don’t know have any evidence to provide but overall can report that the firm is pretty happy with the work.

How did Bionic Egg perform from a project management standpoint?

Mark was absolutely great. He was always easy to reach and very patient with us, despite delays and extra draft requests on our end. He and I communicated via phone and email.

Anything we needed, Mark addressed. Any concerns we had, he addressed.

I don’t think—at the time we worked together—that I had any complaints or issues with them at all.

We didn’t really have an idea of what we wanted, which made it a little difficult to get the ball rolling. I would recommend having an idea of what you want so that you can get started faster.

I’m an entrepreneur running a multi-designer website. I work with well-known jewelry designers from India, Southeast Asia, and Europe.

What challenge were you trying to address with Bionic Egg?

I decided to launch a website to introduce the designers I work with to the market since they aren’t well-known in the U.S.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Bionic Egg took care of the whole development process and gave me an operating manual for the website. They asked me for sample sites so they could use them to determine what I needed and then guided me in that direction. I was also given the option of building it on WordPress and other platforms, but I chose the former. They set up all the plugins on the site and explained to me why I needed them.

My brand name was different when I initially contacted them, and they suggested a new one. They helped me with my branding process.

What is the team composition?

Mark [Director, Bionic Egg] had a team of people working for him, but he was my only contact. I worked with a photographer from his team who took pictures of my jewelry items.

How did you come to work with Bionic Egg?

I interviewed multiple people and worked with another developer before Bionic Egg, but that person gave me nightmares. I had to fire him because he wasn’t delivering anything I wanted, and I didn’t feel confident in the other companies’ work. They were promising everything, but hadn’t made any e-commerce websites before.

I found Bionic Egg on Yelp and spoke to Mark [Director, Bionic Egg], who actually had experience in this area. I was confident that he would know what he was doing. I also saw him previous work, which looked pretty good.

How much have you invested with them?

The cost of the website, including plugins, was around $10,000. It was reasonable for an e-commerce site, considering that other people were asking for up to $30,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

I first interviewed Mark in April 2017, and although we got back in touch in May or June, the site launch was delayed. I was still waiting for some of the products and new items. Bionic Egg set a two-month timeline, but they finished in less than a month.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

I’ve gotten good reviews from people regarding the website’s look and jewelry. We’re still waiting to start SEO, and I believe that Bionic Egg will restructure the website to accommodate those changes. I’m waiting to see more results, but we don’t have many at the moment.

How did Bionic Egg perform from a project management standpoint?

Mark was asking me for different items he needed for the website within five minutes of my first payment to them. He took care of whatever I asked him to do, and actually gave his own inputs when something was lacking or when he identified a helpful change for the website. He takes projects seriously and does a good job in a timely manner.

We had phone conversations, but Mark prefered emails since he likes everything in writing.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Mark did whatever he could to save me money, including entering the listings on the website himself. He initially offered to enter 30–40, but ended up entering around 200. He is a very kind and helpful person. He knew what I was looking for, and how they would make the website.

I recently wanted to launch a new bridal collection. Mark and I talked about it, but he had a personal problem, so I started interviewing other people to build a page for me. None of them gave me confidence, and I was skeptical to work with a new person. I knew Mark was the person I wanted to work with. He’s practical, straightforward, and can save clients a lot of time and stress.

Are there any areas they could improve?

There is always room for improvement, but Mark has already suggested what the website needs in order to get the work done.

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

It’s so easy to work with Mark that I cannot give any specific advice other than to start a collaboration and leave things to him. I do have to let him know what exactly I’m looking for in order for him to come back with suggestions. Working with him is less complicated, and I cannot stop praising him.

I had a visual website, but needed e-commerce capabilities for clients to shop online. I had so much on my plate at the time, so I really needed someone to take care of the full digital rebrand.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

I gave Mark Johnson, the director, a sense of what I wanted my site to look like and what I needed it to do. He also sent me ideas from other companies that he had worked on. When I didn't know what to use for certain details (e.g., website headers), he provided suggestions. He figured out how to get anything I wanted accomplished.

Mark is now also helping with SEO and monitoring the site's performance.

Originally, I started to show my collections online with the help of my photographer through a visually-driven platform. Then, my husband helped me create a basic site through a simple do-it-yourself platform.

Bionic Egg was the first time I worked with a professional web developer. Even though I looked into working with other vendors, I picked Bionic Egg based off of feedback and recommendations from others in my industry. Bionic Egg was not crazy expensive, and they could do it all. For what I needed and the budget I had, Mark was 100 percent the right guy.

We've spent up to $10,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together around June, 2016, and the relationship is ongoing. The site was ready by September, but I had some tweaks that delayed the launch to around October, 2016.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Metrics of site performance have not yet been a focus, but they soon will be. Since my business was quickly evolving from selling privately to selling wholesale through a showroom to selling wholesale to an e-commerce site, I've just been trying to catch up. The website took a backseat during some of that change, but when I was ready to refocus on it, I reached out to Mark directly and he was on top of it.

The site is amazing! Mark has handled any issues I've brought up right away. He's made a lot of calls and emails on my behalf to make certain things happen so I don't have to.

How did Bionic Egg perform from a project management standpoint?

Mark has been fantastic. When I first started the site, he would come to my office and sit down with me to go over everything. Now, we connect best through email. There have been times that I've called him on the go, but I've learned it's best to shoot him an email for requests instead.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Mark was everything I could've wanted from a developer. Along the way, he's offered me additional suggestions like using MailChimp, trying new features, etc. He really cares about the success of our business. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, I got exactly what I wanted and continue to be satisfied.

Mark responds to people who just want the most for their business. He's a nice guy, which is why our dynamic worked so well. We both just want the best for each other. He could deal with anyone, but he probably performs best for people who appreciate him.
