What challenge were you trying to address with Bionic Egg®?
We wanted to create a collaboration between Susan Bender, our fashion designer, and Heather Dubrow, a TV personality and influencer in the US. Heather was a fan of Susan's clothing, so they decided to do something together. Therefore, we needed to create a website that showcased a small capsule collection of items available for sale.

Mark (Owner) originally created Susan Bender's regular website, but this was a different project. We wanted a totally functional website built in Shopify so that we could customize it ourselves when needed. For example, we wanted to be able to change texts.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?
Bionic Egg® helped us put everything together to create a Shopify website for this collaboration. They implemented multiple features, including one for preorders. If someone ordered an item we didn't have in stock, we still wanted to be able to sell it and let the customer know when it would be available, depending on our factory's production time.

Creating the preordering feature was a bit complicated, but Mark found the right third-party app: TimeZap. He actually coordinated with the provider to modify this app so that it worked perfectly for us.

In addition to using Shopify as the main platform, Bionic Egg® also did custom coding on HTML. As mentioned, the app also required custom coding, but I'm not sure about the language used.

What is the team composition?
We worked directly with Mark. One of their developers also worked on the project, but we didn't deal directly with him. All my interactions were with Mark, who communicated everything to the developer.

How did you come to work with Bionic Egg®?
As mentioned, we had already used Bionic Egg® to build our traditional website, so we decided to work with them again. We originally found them through a personal referral.

How much have you invested with them?
We spent approximately $25,000.

What is the status of this engagement?
We started working together in February 2024, and we launched the website in August 2024. However, we'll contact them again if we need some tailoring or have questions.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
It's still early to see results, so we've only measured operational success. Since launching the website, we haven't seen anything that needs to be changed — everything on the site is as we wanted it to be. We already have orders coming through, and everything seems to be working perfectly. We haven't used the third-party integration yet, so we still have to test how it works. However, I'm confident that I'll work.

Although we haven't seen financial success yet because we just launched the site, I'm very happy with the results achieved. If someone had told me six months ago that we would now have a website running perfectly fine, I would have considered that a complete success.

Bionic Egg® was very responsive and delivered everything on time.

Are there any employees from the service provider's team that you would like to give a shout-out to in this review?

Mark was incredibly responsive. My preferred way of communication is via email because it leaves a written record, is more formal, and doesn't take a lot of time. Mark's was the same, so we had a very good relationship in terms of communication.

What did you find most impressive about them?
Bionic Egg®'s responsiveness was outstanding. I can't think of a moment I had to tell them to do something or I had a question and didn't receive a response immediately.

Are there any areas they could improve?
Honestly, I can't think of anything Bionic Egg® could have improved on.

Feel free to communicate with Mark and don't feel like there's a question that's not worth asking. He's very responsive and will get back to you.

The meta-project was to launch a brand from scratch. This resulted in several sub-projects:

Every sub-project had a timetable, and Mark Johnson/Bionic Egg always delivered ahead of the established deadline. All the projects were fully completed ahead of schedule.

All items were always delivered ahead of schedule. This gave us time to go over them and make edits if needed. Mark is super responsive and accommodating. We are a luxury vegan website that features impactful editorial on the site as well as on the online magazine, and we showcase only superior vegan products on the e-commerce side of the site. We want to educate the end users on veganism, and how we can all benefit from it-not just us, but most of all the animals and the planet. I am an editor at My Vegan World Magazine, and work the back end of the site as well.

We hired Bionic Egg to build out an amazing website that would draw in the end user through factual and incredible editorial and articles, as we build a customer base selling vegan products and offering advertising opportunities for vegan luxury brands.

We searched online for the top 10 best web developers in the USA, and Bionic Egg came up as the top 5. What stood out to us was their portfolio, and the designs and design concepts of their projects which were incredible.

The three of us had a meeting of the minds to discuss our dream about the vision of the website, what our objective was and the end goal. Mark's team was incredible in their communication, with the development and layout of the site. They developed an informational WordPress site, that was easy to navigate and very easy to use. They developed a fantastic SEO, and we are truly looking forward to being not just successful but making an impact.

After our initial meeting to vet them and ensure they could provide us with the service we needed, we had a kick-off meeting to discuss our goals and objectives for the project. From there, Mark and his team provided a timeline for mock-ups and wireframes for our site.

We work as a team page by page to ensure we get the look we want. After the initial iterations, an informal working site was created —content is then updated, and the copy is rewritten as needed.

After presenting our new website and brand to our management team, they were very impressed with our direction. We cannot measure deliverables as we do not sell products, but the outcome they produce is exactly what we're looking for.

Mark is constantly in contact with us via email and zoom calls, and we're kept up to date with Trello boards to keep our timeline on track. We had shared folders on Dropbox.

They support a professional, easy-to-update, and user-friendly site and listen to our wants and needs. They're able to comprehend our requirements able to create the branding that would allow us to stand above the rest in our field. We gave them a tight deadline, and they're still able to deliver their tasks on time.

Any issues we bring to their attention are fixed quickly and efficiently.

We have been very impressed with the newly designed site and have received positive and encouraging feedback from our customers about the same.

Bionic Egg was able to solve almost any issue which arose. From design to copy to SEO to marketing, their experience and capabilities were extensive. In addition as mentioned above the individualized attention we received as well as the quick response times really all add up to put Bionic Egg in a category all their own.

I asked Bionic Egg to help my business with rebranding and creating some printed informational/marketing materials. I was specifically looking for a new logo that would suggest high-end quality and a luxury aesthetic.

How did you select Bionic Egg?

I primarily selected Mark because his portfolio suggested that he had an aesthetic sense in line with my vision for the project. I was hoping that I could basically entrust the project to a design professional rather than have to direct it myself; Mark was excellent in this regard.

We initially had in-depth conversations regarding the aesthetic of the practice, the clients we were hoping to appeal to, and reviewed some of my preliminary ideas based on existing branding.

Mark was then able to brainstorm a series of logos based on different ideas and we were able to organically follow a path to the desired outcome. He was open to my preferences and suggestions, but even more critically was able to push the project in the right direction based on his expertise.

There were certainly a few instances where I was glad he didn't follow my suggestions, and it was especially through these experiences that I knew I had picked the right company for this task.

The rebranding has certainly tidied up our online presence and has improved the aesthetic of our website/social media tremendously.

All the printed materials, from business cards to marketing brochures and truly stunning and generate numerous compliments.

We had an easy and frequent communication primarily through email, with a few phone calls initially to discuss aesthetic matters in particular.

It was easy to get in touch with Mark and I am very satisfied with the communication aspect of working with Bionic Egg.

Mark/Bionic Egg is the whole package. From his design aesthetic to his functional knowledge of the industry he is working in, to execution and attention to detail, I could not have been more satisfied with his work. The team's most impressive quality was the personal communication and clear client-focused approach.

I can't say that my experience with Bionic Egg was lacking anything.

What challenge were you trying to address with Bionic Egg?

I initially reached out for them to help me with my branding: designing my logo, color scheme, and stationary. After that engagement, I decided I wanted them to help grow my clientele and my service offerings, as well as developing and designing my website.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Regarding the website, I reached out, and Mark (Founder & Designer) gave me several ideas to choose from as far as the look I was interested in. He’d previously helped with my branding and already had insight into what the site was supposed to look like. Then, however, he did extra research by following and looking at my Instagram and Facebook accounts. He got into my head to know exactly what I wanted, taking the ball and running with it.

He provided different options for the service menu in terms of icons that described our offerings. For example, there’s a little syringe for injectables, and when you click it, you’re taken to a page with more information on the topic.

For the branding, we spoke for a while at the outset so he could get to know my vibe. Then, he helped clarify my initial ideas, turning them into a crisp identity.

I met Mark through an old business partner who I had a production company with. Mark had done some websites for this person.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

The site has only been live for a week, but we’ve already received 3,000 visits to the site and several appointment sign ups. This has all been without doing any advertising yet.

How did Bionic Egg perform from a project management standpoint?

Mark and I send texts and emails back and forth constantly. They would do whatever was convenient for me.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Bionic Egg has held my hand throughout the entire process. Even though I’m in Los Angeles and he’s in New York City, it feels like he’s right beside me. Clearly, he did his research on social media as his head is fully inside my business, as he had my options already narrowed done to ones he knew I would like before he presented them to me.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Honestly, everything has been awesome. I haven’t built a website myself before so I’m not sure if I’m the best judge, but everything has gone well. Even when I’ve changed my mind and asked them to implement e-commerce capabilities partway through, they’ve handled it.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Definitely hire them and don’t look any further. They’re great at figuring out what their customers want. Talk to them about your personality as well so they have a chance to get to know you, your hopes, and your dreams because then they’ll put those in your website.

Bionic Egg delivered the website on time and within budget. The site successfully conveyed what we were trying to do — they exceeded my expectations. Our clients were thrilled with our website, and it was even nominated for an award.

Bionic Egg managed the project exceptionally well. They performed independently, yet they over-delivered. I received a high-quality website without being involved in the process. We communicated through emails and phone calls.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Bionic Egg’s services were cost-effective — their price was significantly less than what other vendors had quoted me. I couldn’t have come up with a better design for the price I paid. 

In addition, Bionic Egg didn’t lock me in the partnership and made me pay a retainer for maintaining the site. They gave me access to the site’s analytics and a guide on modifying the site independently.
