Communications Manager, Biotechnology Company
- Industry: Other industries

- Client size: 201-500 Employees
- Review Type: Phone Interview
- Verified

**The Review** — Jan 9, 2020

**Feedback Summary**: Providing consistent, logical recommendations that are aligned with their partner’s overall goals and mission, the team was able to obtain a thorough understanding of the company and industry on an accelerated timeline. Reliable and communicative, they’ve accommodated the company effectively.
"“They function as an extension of our team, working with us even when things become complicated.”
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I work for a biotech company that offers an ultra-sensitive biomarker detection platform. My position within the company is the global marketing and communications manager.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Big Drop?

Our biggest challenge was how our website was translating to our customers as well as investors. It wasn’t an easy-flowing site. We needed to improve our website to increase leads generated and company awareness. Our marketing team is also small, so we needed to outsource as much responsibility as possible for the web platform.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

Right now, they’re helping us maintain our website. We separated the work into a few phases to maximize the functionality of our current site. However, I do have them building a new site. Currently, they’re maintaining our Drupal site, but we’re converting to WordPress over time. We’re currently in the design phase of that project.

What is the team composition?

The team is sizable. For site maintenance, we have three resources. That includes an overall account manager who’s been able to connect our two separate objectives. In terms of development, we’ll likely have about 5–6 resources working for us on their end.

How did you come to work with Big Drop?

We ran a Google search for the top WordPress developers in the United States specifically within the biotech industry. My digital strategist initially pulled 5–6 potential service providers that they thought would be compatible with us. We spoke with each company and had them put together proposals. Big Drop impressed us because they knew our technology and competitors before jumping on their first call with us.

They understood our brand voice, so it was clear that they would take the steps needed to understand our company. Our biggest reason for choosing them was their willingness to put the time in to learn about our business.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent between $100,000–$200,000 on the project.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started the work mid-way through 2019, and our new site is set to go live in March 2020. It’s an ongoing project.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Part of the process was presenting sites that we liked to their team, and they were able to conceptualize our goals from there. It’s been easy to work with them from start to finish. It was very reassuring to know that they’re giving the project their undivided attention, even when we can’t.

They function as an extension of our team as opposed to a third-party agency. They provide recommendations to help us succeed, which has been a refreshing change. It’s been stress-free because they clearly know what they’re doing. Our account manager is great about explaining Drupal and what it would take to implement our desired changes. They educated us, which boosted our experience as well.

How did Big Drop perform from a project management standpoint?

Having a single person oversee everything keeps us from having to repeat ourselves across teams. They’re pretty active on email and a third-party platform that’s allowed us to track their progress. We can also add notes to that section, so that’s improved communication and transparency as well.

They understand that email is the best way to reach us, especially given our limited headcount. The team is always willing to hop on the phone if I don’t understand something. I can give them a call and rely on them to get the project done.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They function as an extension of our team, working with us even when things become complicated. Their ability to understand the company, technology, and industry has been a huge benefit to us. They’ve also accommodated our hectic schedule and changing deadlines. They do everything possible to meet their deadlines, even if we delay them. I haven’t found that in any other company.

They’re also open with communication and aren’t afraid to provide us with feedback. It’s been a great experience, and we plan to keep using them for site maintenance. I don’t ever see our partnership ending because of their incredible patience and willingness to accommodate us.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They’re a well-oiled machine. Communication has been constant. Even when people are out sick, others seamlessly take on their responsibilities. We’ve also noticed that their past and current clients are very happy with their services, which speaks volumes. That was reassuring, especially at the beginning of our process. I can’t say there’s anything I would change.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Make sure that they understand your goals and industry. That helped us right out the gate, alleviating work we had to do on our end. I’d also recommend making yourself available to speak to Big Drop when you can. In an ideal world, the customer should be more agile and available to their partner for such a large project. Be mindful of the hard work that you’re putting in.

Business Development Manager, Financial Services Consultancy
- Industry: Financial services

- Client size: 11-50 Employees
- Review Type: Phone Interview
- Verified

**The Review** — Jan 8, 2020

**Feedback Summary**: The internal staff is impressed with the visual quality and overall functionality of the final product. Their thorough development process left ample room for feedback and opinions from the client, allowing them to steer and readjust the project at any point. They showcased expert communication skills.
"“It was a tremendous undertaking, and we’re pleased with the results.”
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

We’re an institutional and retirement plans consulting firm that works with oversight management of retirement plans. That helps to improve outcomes for participants and their employees. I work specifically as a business manager, working in marketing and sales to bring in new business and meet strategic objectives.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Big Drop?

We wanted to revamp our website. Our prior platform was nearly 10 years old and completely out of date. More importantly, it was not optimized and couldn’t attract new leads.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

They drove the entire process, starting the build from scratch. We needed someone to hold our hand from point A to point B. They were able to guide us through the entire process and figure out what we needed from the site. Using that structure, they handled all aspects of the development, steered by our input.

The final solution is a custom-built WordPress website. They also used programs to create wireframes and develop the product. At this point,  we have them on ongoing retainer for updates and maintenance.

What is the team composition?

There were between 6–7 resources working on the site. We had an overall project manager and a more hands-on project manager. There was a turnover in that second role. In addition to the project managers, we also worked with designers and developers.

How did you come to work with Big Drop?

We asked around our firm for recommendations and ran general Google searches. Their team was located close to us, so we put them on our list of options. We asked for proposals from seven organizations and held interviews both over the phone and in-person. After narrowing it down to two service providers, we felt that Big Drop would be the best fit for the job. We ended up hiring them.

How much have you invested with them?

So far, our total investment has been between $40,000–$50,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started in October 2018, and the site first launched in November 2019. The delay was on our end. They were ready to launch the site in June 2019, but we spend some time internally on content migration. Big Drop’s work took between 6–9 months.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

It’s still early days for us, but the internal team is very pleased with the aesthetics and functionality of the site. It visually represents our organization well. From the backend, the solution is easy to use and update.

How did Big Drop perform from a project management standpoint?

They have a design app that allowed them to build and share their layout ideas with us without anything going live. That way, we were able to discuss and opine on them. They also offered us a survey in the early stages of the project, which allowed us to rank example sites and provide feedback on hypothetical options. That focused their team on our interests, helping them gauge our design preferences.

It was also nice to have them nearby, knowing that we could simply take a train and collaborate in-person. In actuality, we mostly used technology to communicate. So, the location didn’t make a huge difference in the end.

What did you find most impressive about them?

We’re thrilled with the platform. It was a tremendous undertaking, and we’re pleased with the results.

Are there any areas they could improve?

With the turnover of project managers, there were too many cooks in the kitchen at times. There were times during that phase of the process that I wasn’t sure who was overseeing what. That’s the only negative I can think of, though. Overall, it was a great experience.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

They’re experts, so you can trust their judgments.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Their adaptability, design, reasonable up-front costs, and development knowledge were outstanding.

**BACKGROUND**
Please describe your company and your position there.

I’m the community relations manager at a marijuana company that handles everything from seed to sale. We have two dispensary storefronts—a medical one and a dual-use one.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
For what projects/services did your company hire Big Drop?

Our company needed website management, development, and hosting services.

What were your goals for this project?

We wanted the ability to have many users browse our website without any crashing or errors. We also always have new initiatives that we want to be turned over quickly.

**SOLUTION**
How did you select this vendor?

One of our founders selected them, and we’ve been working with together for just about three years now.

Describe the project and the services they provided in detail.

Big Drop has worked extensively on countless large and small projects since we started working together. Some of them involve implementing new page designs from PSD files and others include server expansion. They’ve also completely revamped our homepage and much more.

They’re currently helping us facilitate large projects, assisting with any glitches or bugs that pop up.

What was the team composition?

We usually have one project manager, an overseeing manager, and a tech person involved. However, we sometimes need projects turned over quickly or things done during off-hours, so we’ve worked with their president and CTO many times for this.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

There was a Friday where the website wasn't working quite as we were hoping it would. We were able to get a hold of their CTO in the evening, who worked diligently until the issue was solved. Because of that work ethic and dedication, we've been happy to continue working with Big Drop.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

Project management is effective. They use ZenDesk, which is helpful for organizing all our requests and ensure each one is addressed.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Our tasks have been turned over very quickly with the latest project managers.

Are there any areas for improvement?

Having staff available on the weekends or evening shifts would be helpful. Every once in a while, we have website issues over weekends, so it would be nice to have a dedicated person to reach out to for help.

**The Review** — Jan 9, 2019

**Feedback Summary**: The trade show materials attracted an audience, sparked interest, and drew admiring comments from fellow attendees. Big Drop's extensive design knowledge, quick turnarounds, and attention to detail make their workflow smooth and seamless.
""Big Drop's design expertise sets them apart."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Please describe your company and your position there.

I'm the senior operational strategist at Medacist Solutions Group, a healthcare analytics company focused on combating drug diversion across the United States. As a leader and innovator, we support thousands of hospitals across the country. My role covers a wide array of responsibilities, including oversight of our design, branding, and marketing.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
For what projects/services did your company hire Big Drop ?

We've used Big Drop for numerous projects.

What were your goals for this project?

We needed our website and materials to more accurately portray our identity, our vision for the future, and our innovative mindset. We wanted to promote ourselves as an industry leader and capture our audience's attention.

**SOLUTION**
How did you select this vendor?

I searched for local design companies with great reviews from similar clients. I reviewed three or four companies, and chose Big Drop because they best understood our vision.

Describe the project in detail.

Each project begins with a call to discuss the scope. Big Drop listens to us and asks questions to fully understand our goals, then creates a detailed timeline and scope of work. We meet regularly to review the designs and iterate on them until they meet our expectations. Once our team signs off on the designs, Big Drop builds the product in a timely manner.

They also help with our designs, listening to our vision and making it a reality. They have designed our logos, our booths and flyers for two trade shows, and two product and company videos. When our team of developers had overhauled our website and wanted a fresh outside perspective, Big Drop provided it!

What was the team composition?

Our main contact at Big Drop has worked with us since the beginning. During the website redesign, we primarily worked with three project managers. A larger team worked on the designs and technical elements.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Every project for our trade shows has attracted great responses. We launched new products two years in a row, and found great success with all the materials they designed. These designs drew an audience, promoted our products, and received compliments from other vendors.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

We work great together. Our project manager organizes and facilitates everything efficiently and successfully.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Big Drop's design expertise sets them apart. Their designers understand the scope of each project and follow through on our vision.

Are there any areas for improvement?

The only area for improvement would be their technical team. We self-host our website and ran into issues when transitioning from Big Drop to our internal team. They had never worked with a self-hosted client before.

**The Review** — Dec 20, 2018

**Feedback Summary**: After a nearly 2-year delay, the website was neither completed nor functional. Rising costs, numerous errors, and ineffective project managed led to the partnership’s termination. Big Drop could have handled the situation more professionally with better communication and proposed solutions. The vendor responded on January 8, 2019. Their response is below the review.
""We cannot put it into words how much we wish we had hired another web design company."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Please describe your company and your position there.

I own Nanook Canvas G.P., a manufacturer of custom photo canvas prints.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
For what projects/services did your company hire Big Drop?

Our website had a high bounce rate, didn’t convert, and was not mobile-friendly. We engaged Big Drop to develop a new website that would solve these issues and give us an edge over the competition.

What were your goals for this project?

We wanted the new site to be modern, engaging, accessible, mobile-responsive, and SEO-friendly. We expected higher conversion rates and a timely delivery that complied with our specifications.

**SOLUTION**
How did you select this vendor?

We found Big Drop online. They were very responsive and seemed to be capable. Though the price was higher than we preferred, the team offered a “full package” that we decided to invest in.

Describe the project and the services they provided in detail.

Big Drop created designs after our initial discussions. Once we approved the mock-ups, the team started the development phase. However, we proceeded to development without completing the second part of the design approval form, which detailed the site’s functionalities—preview, design, tools, etc. We ended the relationship before final delivery.

What was the team composition?

The team included several resources and multiple project managers.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

The project started well, but development took longer than expected. Big Drop’s “full package” contract promised a 6–8-month timeline. However, delays elongated the engagement to two years, at which point the team said they needed another 15–18 to finish the site. Big Drop developed core features without discussing them in full detail. Most aspects of the build did not comply with our feedback notes. They asked for more money that we originally agreed to pay. That felt unprofessional because we were already making compromises in an attempt to salvage the project. We had to end the relationship prior to final delivery because they made us choose between extra fees or accepting an unfinished site with several errors.

By the end, we were exhausted, frustrated, and stressed out. Since our previous site didn’t convert, we had stopped all marketing until the new site would be ready. But what’s worse, we have to take this issue to court to reach an appropriate settlement; Big Drop had agreed to settle, but their terms were unacceptable.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

Their project management looked impressive on paper, but the team never met their own milestones. The turnover with project managers caused several frustrations; we had to explain things over and over again. That was neither cost-effective nor time-efficient.

Are there any areas for improvement?

In addition to estimates and project management, Big Drop needs to improve how they handle situations when things go wrong. We understand errors and unexpected issues occur, but the team could have done more to make the problems right for us.

**Company Response**
The vendor responded on January 8, 2019. The reply is written by Andrew Yakovlev, (CFO, Big Drop).

Thank you for your feedback. We regret that our agency was not able to meet your expectations for the project. We work hard to ensure that we deliver superior end results for our clients, as well as a great service experience. This means going above and beyond, and always meeting our clients more than halfway.

On this project, our team dedicated more than 5,000 to meet the client’s needs; the total hours exceeded the original fixed scope. The team went into frontend development to accommodate the client’s timeline—and in the same spirit of accommodation—moved quickly into backend development. Our team did this while basing specifications on the current site’s functionality.

We feel that the client did not act in good faith. From our perspective, they used this as an opportunity to push the scope well beyond the original specification and rework the approved UI/UX. We offered several options to execute gap analysis, lock in specifications, and finish the platform after extensive QA, which we executed at no additional cost. The client rejected these options and did not propose alternatives.

**The Review** — Mar 9, 2018

**Feedback Summary**: As soon as the site was launched, the number of sales quadrupled, while the new checkout system enables customers to easily build their own product. Highly professional and responsive, they went above and beyond to understand the business and delivered a top-notch product.
""They have a top-level team and I can't imagine that anyone can be better."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I'm the owner of a concealed carry holster company. We have one location where we manufacture and sell holsters.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Big Drop?

We were looking for a company to design a website for us. Since it's an unusual product, our biggest challenge was to develop a checkout system.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

They built a WordPress website for me and developed an outstanding front page where they presented everything my customers need to know. They researched my business and went above and beyond to understand my product. The website has answers to all the common questions. When I go over those questions with my customers on the phone, 100% of them make a purchase, so putting the key points on the website was a genius move. Setting up the checkout system was a complex process because our holsters have thousands of configurations–different measurements and colors–for guns and lasers, but they did an excellent job.

What is the team composition?

I worked with the design team and the development team.

How did you come to work with them?

I've been doing research for years, looking for the right company to build my website. After talking to Big Drop, I trusted them to create a functional website and take care of the aesthetic side

How much have you invested with them?

I spent $46,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

I worked with them from June 2017–January 2018.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

During the year before the website launch, I slowly dropped advertising in anticipation of better returns on ad investment. By the time of launch in January 2018, traffic was at its bare minimum, as were sales. At the first day of the launch, sales instantly quadrupled! The new checkout system makes it fun for customers to buy my products.

How did they perform from a project management standpoint?

They were amazing. I wrote them a personal thank you note. Whenever I asked a question, they always knew the answer to it. They were extremely responsive and addressed any issues or bugs immediately. I also wrote a public review on Google commending them on their work.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They have a top-level team and I can't imagine that anyone can be better.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I can't think of anything.

**Feedback Summary**: This professional team helped to prepare the website for heavy demand by adding resources, supporting its functionality and keeping customers happy and informed. With a wide range of skills, Big Drop offers a broad variety of services combined with excellent customer service.
"“It's a one-stop shop, and I appreciate their expertise.”
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I'm the VP of operations at a homeowner insurance company.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Big Drop?

We were looking to address our scalability and redundancy. We were also looking for graphic design and marketing expertise. We wanted a hosted solution to manage our growing insurance companies. In order to be responsive to hurricanes in Florida, we need important touch points for our customers available 24/7, such as uptime and claim report functionality. A local vendor managed our website for the past 5 years, but our organization grew rapidly in that time. We needed a more reliable, redundant, and scalable platform.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

The objective was to first move our existing platform from the old vendor to Big Drop. Once that was completed, we added resources, cleaned the webpage, made it more user-friendly, and found nuances that we could improve upon. Since they absorbed the web page, they updated website content and added splash screens. A lot of their work was behind the scenes.

We're currently speaking with them about designing an entirely new skin for the website's look, feel, and user experience. They also offer other marketing services that I'm exploring as well.

What is the team dynamic?

I've communicated with at least 4 individuals at Big Drop who have addressed the project needs.

How did you come to work with Big Drop?

We had a list of criteria that a new vendor must have to bring us to the next level such as best practices, scalability, and backups. Big Drop met all of our requirements.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent around $20,000–$30,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We've been working with them since 2016.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

When Hurricane Irma hit Florida, the website had a surge of visits. Pre-landfall, we made sure Big Drop added resources to our website. It was amazing how many individuals went to that webpage, filed a claim, or made sure their insurance was up to date, etc.

How did Big Drop perform from a project management standpoint?

They performed very well. They're methodical; they schedule and follow through. They're a professional firm.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I love that they offer multiple services. They can host a website and manage it, but they also do marketing spins, social media, and graphic design. It's a one-stop shop, and I appreciate their expertise. Their attentiveness to requests and follow through shine.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No. I have nothing negative to say.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Know that you're in good hands. They're experts at their trade. It was refreshing and all positive. Do your research and get comparable quotes. We enjoyed the experience.

**The Review** — Feb 27, 2017

**Feedback Summary**: Trustworthy and fast, BigDrop delivered a functional site free of crashes or bugs of any kind. They smoothly integrated any desired changes and reliably implemented fixes by the next business day.

""They created a user experience that’s very smart and reasonable."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the CEO of the Financial Communication Society, which is a national not-for-profit trade association for financial marketers. We’ve been in business since 1967; our business model is that we run content-driven live events that bring together financial marketers and their industry partners.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Big Drop?
One of the critical things for our business model is having a highly functioning website. About three years ago, we started trying to bring our website into the 21st century and engaged a web firm out of Chicago. We got an okay-looking website out of it, but we never went a full week without there being some sort of issue. After about a year and a half, I got a cue from the board to spend money on finding a new agency and improving that.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?
We have a relatively complicated website. Because we sell tickets to our various events there’s an e-commerce component, but we layer on top of that a subscription model. If you’re a dues-paying member, then you get discounted pricing on all of our events. Those two things working together creates a relatively complicated background for the websites. Wordpress, which had been our platform of choice, wasn’t able to deal with our needs. On January 23rd, we launched the website. They had to deal with the incumbent agency who lost the job, and they were really good with that. Very smooth transition. Knock on wood, we haven’t had a single problem. Granted, it’s still a little early in the game, but we’ve done four events so far and we haven’t had one issue. What we built is incredibly well received by our members.
We went into this identifying some improvements on design and navigation and functionality, but Big Drop really gave us so many additional ideas on how to make it a more valuable tool for our members. An example of that was that we now offer members a dashboard where they can go in and see all of their prior purchases, print out receipts, download spreadsheets of their purchases. They created a member directory so you can see people’s photos. These were things we hadn’t thought were possible. They created a user experience that’s very smart and reasonable.
How did you come to work with Big Drop?
We did an agency search. The agency that had designed our previous website was in the mix, but they frankly couldn’t convince us that they suddenly knew how to fix things and deal with our complicated needs. So we wound up speaking with nine agencies. One came back to us and said they didn’t think we had enough money to afford them, thank you very much. Another one was a one-man shop, which we dismissed out of hand. The other seven had project estimates ranging from $17,000 to &170,000. We got rid of the outliers and wound up speaking with three who were middle-of-the-road.
Based on in-person interviews, we decided to go with Big Drop. From their initial conversation, they simply brought so many additional ideas to the table. We didn’t even think that we were looking for that, but we were very impressed. They also gave us a very high level of confidence that they would be able to build what we need and most importantly, maintain it. That’s exactly what we did.
How much have you invested with BigDrop?
Their initial bid was in the $40,000-$60,000 range.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started negotiating late last year, but we went into review in early 2016. We hired them in June or July. They’re still supporting the site, but it’s live.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?
I trust them: I know that I go to bed at night and I’m not going to wake up in the morning with some user sending me an email saying that the website is down or they can’t log in, which is the experience I had with the prior agency. I couldn’t go a week without some snafu. I have a very high level of confidence with Big Drop. As part of their maintenance package, they have all of these alerts built in, which have not been triggered. If something were to go wrong on the Big Drop site, I’m confident they’re going to know about it before a user comes and tells me.
What did you find most impressive about Big Drop?
We might suggest something and they will always keep us straight about what’s the best practice in the industry. A lot of their back-office stuff is overseas, and that was a concern for us because of time zones. That hasn’t been an issue at all. I’m in New York, and when I’ve asked for East Coast time zone support, it’s always been there.
I have been able to take advantage of the seven-hour difference with the development guys, because I’ll send them a list of things that I want to be updated or changed, and I know that when I come into the office the next day, all of those things are taken care of. We jump on phone calls all the time – when it’s needed – and they’re very receptive. The maintenance package I pay is less than the retainer I paid at the prior agency, which frankly moaned each month about how we were spending more hours each month than what their retainer covered.
Are there any areas Big Drop could improve?
There have been times where they’ve written a little web text or email communication where the American English was not perfect. Part of it was that I should have been doing that writing, but that’s one thing I’ll ding them for.
What tips or recommendations could you share that might increase the likelihood of success with Big Drop?
After I engaged with them, I went through a series of project managers. The first one sets the stage. In our case, she worked with us to figure out exactly what we wanted to build. Once she had that mapped out, she brought in a design manager who worked out how it should look. He built the wireframes. And then ultimately there was the development project manager who figured out how to code everything. If I were to do this all again, I would want the development person and the design person to sit in the very first meeting so that when I described my dream product, those things would happen. Sometimes I thought of stuff that ultimately wasn’t going to make sense, and it would have been better to learn that early on. It wouldn’t have changed anything either in the pricing or the timing; it would have just managed my expectations a little bit. Likewise, there was much more that they brought to the table than they would have taken off my wish list, and if I had their input earlier on, I probably could have maximized the experience a little more. This is in no way a negative; I’ve just learned a more optimal way to get more out of Big Drop.

""We were always made to feel like ours was the only project on which Big Drop was working.""

**BACKGROUND**
Please describe your organization.

Skybuds produces truly wireless earbuds. We are a startup scheduled to release a product at the end of the summer.

What is your position?

I am the head of operations within the company.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What business challenge were you trying to address with Big Drop?

We needed help in developing an e-commerce site for the company, which would act as our main sales channel.

**SOLUTION**
Please describe the scope of their involvement in greater detail.

It was a collaborative effort with other agencies too, but Big Drop designed and built our website. We also worked with a branding agency which helped with much of the design.

They were very patient with us. When we initially approached Big Drop, we only had a few ideas of what the website would look like. They gave us the best designers and helped in creating it from scratch. We had no e-commerce experience when we first started. We started off with a WordPress site on which bluCommerce was plugged-in. As we learned more about the importance of managing customer data, we requested switching to a Magento platform. Big Drop assigned their best Magento developer, who worked on the backend elements. The design elements, which were made by our branding agency, were also given to Big Drop. They worked on the frontend elements based on that material.

How did you come to work with Big Drop?

We wanted to work with a New York-based company. We searched Google and looked at the portfolios of the various companies which came up. Big Drop had built very beautiful, artistic websites for many different people, which resonated with us.

Could you provide a sense of the size of this initiative in financial terms?

Sorry, this is confidential.

What is the status of this engagement?

The project was started in May of 2015. We are now fine-tuning the work and hope to launch the site within a month. We have been in the process of figuring out our marketing approach, and as such, we asked our branding agency to make additional changes. It didn't make sense for Big Drop to reserve some of their development resources for us, given that we had no clear direction for marketing.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Could you share any statistics or metrics from this engagement?

Our website's functionalities are great. I asked a friend who is a Magento developer to review the code, and he told me that it was very solid. We're very happy with Big Drop's work and are excited to launch our website this summer.

How did Big Drop perform from a project management standpoint?

Big Drop was very responsive throughout the project. I knew that I could get in touch with our project manager at any point in time. They used many offshore developers. Ours were in Ukraine, but I never knew the difference in terms of communication.

Any emails sent to Big Drop will have a reply within the hour. They work after business hours, given that the development team is in Ukraine. We were always made to feel like ours was the only project on which Big Drop was working. I was never put on hold when I had an inquiry.

What distinguishes Big Drop from other providers?

I haven't worked with many web development companies. Even though we were assigned a project manager by Big Drop, if I couldn't get in touch with him, I always had access to their owner. He made sure that everything was handled as fast as possible. I find the fact that Big Drop's owner is actively working on multiple projects and the fact that he stayed in contact with us to be a nice touch.

Is there anything Big Drop could have improved or done differently?

Because there has been a bit of a language barrier, we had to be very clear in our emails. A lot can be lost in translation, and I found that Big Drop's team can sometimes take directions literally. They always met us halfway though.

""Working with Big Drop was a very good experience for me in general.""

**BACKGROUND**
Please describe your organization.

We are an intellectual property strategy and valuation consulting firm.

What is your role at the company?

I am the founder and president.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What business challenge were you trying to address with Big Drop?

We needed a new website to attract business and to display media, such as articles and events, and information about services.

What were your company's business goals for the project?

We wanted to get a state-of-the-art, visually appealing website, as well as a new logo.

**SOLUTION**
Please describe the scope of their involvement in detail.

It was for web design, logo design, SEO [search engine optimization] strategy, and a professional look and feel.

How did you come to work with Big Drop?

We looked at online reviews and their portfolio of work, and selected them from three other providers based on their responsiveness to our proposal and their quality of work.

What is the status of this engagement?

It completed about two years ago [2014].

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Could you share any statistics or metrics from this engagement?

We have received great traction from the work with Big Drop. The percentage of business resulting from people finding us online has increased to more than 50 percent of the business in an industry that is traditionally a referral type. We are showing up on the first page in Google organic searches for key search keywords, resulting in great conversion of people finding the site and calling in or submitting a contact request.

How did Big Drop perform?

They gave us excellent customer service and a great-looking website, as well as a fantastic new logo and very effective SEO.

What distinguishes Big Drop from other providers?

I don't work with software or web designers on a regular basis. This is a relatively new company and, since I am the founder, I get involved in web design. Working with Big Drop was a very good experience for me in general.

In hindsight, are there areas in which they could improve or things you might do differently?

I would have created fewer pages and made the pages shorter, but that has nothing to do with Big Drop. They followed our instructions and have been very responsive to all our changes.

**Feedback Summary**: Although conflicting work schedules were an initial challenge, Big Drop worked hard to deliver timely fixes and quality work. Their straightforward, useable interface allowed the site to function seamlessly.

""They just go above and beyond your average development company."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m an Operations Specialist at a medical marijuana dispensary serving essentially all medically qualified medical marijuana patients in Massachusetts. I handle all of the online communication that comes our way via email, social media and competitor sites. I’ve been in charge of maintaining our entire website through Big Drop. I’ve been sort of the liaison between us and Big Drop.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Big Drop?
We use and update our website every day; it’s not something we set up and forget about. The biggest reason for our online presence is our menu. We have 10-12 different strains of marijuana and those change daily, and we have over 150 infused products to offer our patients. We update our menu every single night for the next day, so we see upwards of 4,000 site visits daily. We also use our website for our careers page; this is a growing industry and people want to join our team, so we have an active career portal for the company. We also update our site with news and events about what we’re doing as a company through our philanthropy group. But primarily we needed our website to connect patients to resources because the process of being a medical marijuana patient can be incredibly confusing.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?
Big Drop helped design and develop the website. They help with any new requests we might need. I have some background with Wordpress from previous jobs, but working with them has been really great for doing everything from complex tasks to simple things I don’t have time for in my day. I don’t know if other websites are as complicated as ours, but they’ve handled everything really nicely.
We do our daily menu update, but they’re always available if we run into a glitch or if we need more complicated things. They’re mostly backup unless we need to bring them on for larger things like reworking our careers page, which they were able to bang out in a couple of days. Actually, the project manager recently reached out to us to make sure everything was okay, and we were like, “Yeah, everything is working great, the site is perfect!” They’re great about being proactive like that.
How much have you invested with Big Drop?
To be honest, I don’t know. It started with another member of the company who created the vision and started to conversation with them, and I just came in to execute the project. I’ve been the liaison ever since, but I’m not entirely sure about the price range.
What is the status of this engagement?
We’ve been working with Big Drop since the end of 2015, so it’s been a little over a year.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?
They’ve been great. The greatest feature that they set up for us was Google Analytics. They set up the pages to be easy to read, and in terms of that, they’ve been great. We see about 4,000 visitors to the site, but that number increases monthly. Theoretically, every patient is looking on our site an average of every four days. That’s exciting for us; we’re getting a lot of exposure. We get a lot of members to the site partly because we’re one of the biggest dispensaries in Massachusetts, but we’re also really active with our marketing and everything. I think Big Drop has been a big part of that. They’ve made our site straightforward and easy.
How did BigDrop perform from a project management standpoint?
They’re really hard-working. I don’t know if they do this for everyone, but they’ve been extremely helpful for us in emergency situations. Garry was so kind. He gave me his personal cell phone number and said, “If you need anything, give us a call.” I had his team working on the weekend one time.
They just go above and beyond your average development company. Sometimes it’s hard because they work kind of quirky hours, so if we don’t get a request in super early it can be a bummer, but they’ve also been great about emergency situations. Somehow he always finds someone to help us out. Danil, our project manager has been super responsive. He will answer every single email right away. He always wants to set up Zoom meetings to make sure that our visions are on the same page. Work with Danil has been awesome. He has his act together and he’s super organized. Boris, the other manager, is really proactive about making sure things are okay with us.
What did you find most impressive about Big Drop?
I can’t speak highly enough of their ethic and their project managers. Garry’s an awesome dude to work with. They’ve continued to produce work that we’re really happy with. They make sure it looks good on every platform. We can be really particular about that. We’ll say, “It doesn’t look good on a 2014 MacBook Air,” and they’ll dive in and make sure it’s a quality site on that platform in particular.
Are there any areas Big Drop could improve?
I’m not going to lie: in the beginning, we went through several project managers, and they’re no longer with the company. We can have a lot of requests and sometimes we’ve really pushed them to work hard, and in the beginning, the work just wasn’t being produced. Now it’s a complete turnaround. I’ve been so pleased working with our latest project manager. Other than that, the only thing is they typically work from 4 AM to noon, which is fine unless the site crashes later in the day.
That’s when I have to find Garry and he has to scramble to find somebody. It would be better if they had a local developer who could work different hours, or an on-call person for the weekends. But that’s special treatment stuff; I don’t think it’s a huge detriment to their organization. It would just be convenient.

We are a small team of four full-time employees working as jury consultants. We work within the litigation industry offering mock-trial research, witness preparation, and jury selection in support of civil defense cases. Our main office is in Chicago, and we have offices in Houston and Lexington. We travel to projects nationwide.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What business challenge were you trying to address with Big Drop?

We were looking to rebrand our logo and website.

**SOLUTION**
Please describe the scope of their involvement in greater detail.

Big Drop developed our site using WordPress. It was my first time working with the platform, and it proved to be a much better solution than the one we were previously using.

How did you come to work with Big Drop?

We shopped around and were intrigued by Big Drop. They had won an award for being one of the top 10 design firms in the nation. We liked their website's style and wanted to capture that for ourselves. We work in a bit of a staunch, almost dry industry. We work with patent attorneys and other serious individuals. We do a very serious job, but also want to think that we bring in a fun side to the industry. Big Drop did a great job in capturing that.

Could you provide a sense of the size of this initiative in financial terms?

The total development cost was between $20,000-30,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with them in March of 2015. The website was launched in May, making it a three-month project. We've since worked on two revisions of the site.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Could you share any statistics or metrics from this engagement?

The experience with Big Drop has been overall very positive. It was a rigorous process, and we've constantly received compliments as a result of it. The site is very responsive.

What distinguishes Big Drop from other providers?

We are a small company, and everyone has an opinion. Avoiding the "too many cooks in the kitchen" scenario was a challenge for us. Big Drop made sure that we were all pleased in the end.

We had some very specific requests, so Big Drop pushed back on us on a few occasions, letting us know that certain elements wouldn't work and explained why. I liked the consultation part of the process.

Is there anything Big Drop could have improved or done differently?

In the design phase, there were a few timing issues, given that some of their team is located in Europe. It wasn't a huge deal, but we were pushing them to get the work done quickly. Their responsiveness was a bit slower than we would have wanted during that phase.

What business challenge were you trying to address with Big Drop?

We wanted them to build a presales website for us. The goals were to make the site quickly and affordably.

**SOLUTION**
Please describe the scope of their involvement in detail.

They provided us with web design and web development services. How did you come to work with Big Drop?

Their owner, Garry [Kanfer], was willing to work fast, lean, and cheap. As a startup with very limited capital, it was a great fit for us.

Could you provide a sense of the size of this initiative in financial terms?

I believe it was roughly $25,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

The project was not 100 percent completed. We had to bring on an internal team to complete the project before launching. BigDrop did 80 percent of the work. They were great on iterating quickly and providing solid design ideas and implementing them. We had more issues with the back-end, where we had to change many things before launching out site. I am confident they could have delivered 100 percent of the project if we had more time.

The results were great. We had a very successful presales campaign.

How did Big Drop perform?

Big Drop performed well.

What distinguishes Big Drop from other providers?

In hindsight, are there areas in which they could improve or things you might do differently?

They could have done a better job at the back-end, which we ended up doing ourselves.

**Feedback Summary**: The site rose to the number one position in Google for its industry, with initial metrics of between 5,000 and 10,000 visitors per month, and an average of 2 minutes per visit.
""Big Drop's accomplishment was impressive from the start.""

**BACKGROUND**
Please describe your organization.

Our company is the first 100% free online marketplace for lease transfers. We facilitate transfers for people who are looking to get out of their leases early due to financial or other reasons, but we also provide services for people who are looking to get into short-term leases and find it more convenient to sign on to a six-month up to a one-year lease. We facilitate the meeting of these two types of customers completely free.

What is your position?

I am the chief executive officer and founder of the company.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What business challenge were you trying to address with Big Drop?

The biggest issue we faced was building our platform from scratch. It's a social networking site which has some advertising mixed in. We had to integrate our functionality to work similar to our competitors' sites. Our biggest issue was that there was no template which we could use. Our solution implies a lot of variables and X factors, meaning that we had to build it from scratch.

**SOLUTION**
Please describe the scope of their involvement in greater detail.

I wanted to keep the platform as simple as possible, but given the amount of information that would be required for the site to operate, keeping it simple was a challenge in itself. We had to integrate an internal messaging system between users, an upload system for sharing photos, and so on. The main challenge was making a platform that could sustain a large amount of traffic.

How did you come to work with Big Drop?

I googled the top development companies in New York City and came to two options, one of which was Big Drop.

Could you provide a sense of the size of this initiative in financial terms?

The total development cost of the project was between $70,000-100,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

The project took two years to complete.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Could you share any statistics or metrics from this engagement?

The beta version had a lot of kinks and bugs to be fixed. Any platform that is built from scratch will have these problems. After a six month beta testing and fixing process, we were able to launch the platform.

Big Drop was able to bring our site to the number one position in Google for some of the main keywords in the industry. Before even getting to the top page, we had between 5,000 to 10,000 unique visitors per month. The average time spent on the site for each client was around 2 minutes, which is unheard of on the internet. Figures only grew from there. We had a few fluctuations in terms of Google ratings and traffic, but this is a new site and people are still learning its name.

We're starting to launch a campaign with a major media outlet and our numbers are picking up again, but Big Drop's accomplishment was impressive from the start.

What distinguishes Big Drop from other providers?

I've worked with a few different companies in the past. Every part of the scope was executed as expected by Big Drop. We had no issues during the process. Like any startup, there will be some bugs and small personal crises. People usually panic during these situations, but Big Drop was very level-headed and handled every situation thrown at them.

The biggest problem we experienced was with our upload function, which kept crashing. They worked on it and, within an hour, the site was up-and-running again. I have nothing but good things to say about Big Drop. They do excellent work.

Is there anything Big Drop could have improved or done differently?

If they had more clientele, they'd have a bigger staff. If that was the case, they'd be able to get some things done quicker. I'm not saying that they were slow, but an increase in speed would always be welcomed.

""With Big Drop, there's always someone available to talk to us.""

**BACKGROUND**
Please describe your organization.

We are a car dealership in central New Jersey.

What is your position?

I am the sales manager.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What business challenge were you trying to address with Big Drop?

We had a standard website, similar to what is used by most dealerships in the industry. We worked with a management system which kept our inventory in check. We realized that there isn't much room to move forward by using standard industry sites. They're not built for search engine optimization and aren't very responsive. We were losing a lot of leads and customers as a result, so we decided to find a company specialized in building sites.

**SOLUTION**
Please describe the scope of their involvement in greater detail.

Big Drop provided website design and development for us. We're now starting SEO work for the site and are also remarketing our company brand.

How did you come to work with Big Drop?

I found Big Drop online, but also received a referral from a friend. It put my mind at ease to find out that other people had been successfully working with them, so I got in touch with Big Drop. They showed me some of their work and I liked it. We decided to move forward with our collaboration.

Could you provide a sense of the size of this initiative in financial terms?

The total development cost of our website design was around $25,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with them in 2014. Our site was completed in mid-2015, but we continue to work with them on other projects.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Could you share any statistics or metrics from this engagement?

I’m very happy with the work that Big Drop did. The main goal for me was to revamp our site and generate more leads. Over the last year, I’ve definitely seen an increase in the results I was looking for. We’re still working with Big Drop, and I’m very happy with their service.

What distinguishes Big Drop from other providers?

I appreciate the fact that they're responsive. I'm sure that there are other companies that do the same type of work, but I've had collaborations in which I didn't receive a response for days. With Big Drop, there's always someone available to talk to us, either via email, Skype, or any other form of communication. I spoke with one of their developers this morning, explained to them what I wanted for our project, and I've already gotten a response.

Is there anything Big Drop could have improved or done differently?

Not that I can think of. I'm satisfied with all aspects of the work that Big Drop did.

""Big Drop was head and shoulders above the competition.""

**BACKGROUND**
Please describe your organization.

Located in Bakersfield, California, Synergy Lifestyle Center offers physician-supervised treatments for medical weight loss, body shaping, medical aesthetics, addiction care and age management.

What is your position?

I am the president of the company.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What business challenge were you trying to address with Big Drop?

We needed to redesign our website. The previous one had been built on a limited budget. After sitting through a presentation about the importance of websites at a medical conference, I realized that everything they recommended was lacking in my site. I would obviously need to invest more resources to bring it up to speed.

**SOLUTION**
Please describe the scope of Big Drop’s involvement in greater detail.

They did two things for me. They designed my website using WordPress and, because of problems with loading time, offered me their hosting services. The development process was hands-off from my point of view. I had a certain amount of input, but for the most part, they ran the show. My previous website took about two or three years to make because, whenever I put the project to the side, the developer stopped working on it and just waited around for my input. With Big Drop, if a week went by without my feedback, they would remind me that I needed to respond. I’m a physician and have limited time, so this kind of reminder was very important for me.

How did you come to work with Big Drop?

I researched a number of companies, with the idea that a high ranking on Google is an indication of competency. I looked at the portfolios of three different web design companies and contacted all three for quotes. Big Drop’s portfolio stood out from the others. Their work looked and felt very modern—it had a “wow” factor. This is what ultimately led me to choose them.

Could you provide a sense of the size of this initiative in financial terms?

I’ve spent somewhere between $10,000 and $15,000 working with Big Drop.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in October 2014, and the website was completed in May of the next year. At the moment, they provide hosting services for us, but we’re not actively working on anything.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Could you share any statistics, metrics or other feedback from their work?

I’m very proud of the website and have received a lot of positive comments from potential customers. It’s also responsive on mobile environments. We haven’t been tracking the results closely, so I don’t have any specific metrics.

What distinguishes Big Drop from other providers?

The results speak for themselves. They delivered an amazing website. Big Drop was head and shoulders above the competition.

Is there anything Big Drop could have improved or done differently?

I would have liked the SEO part of their services to be more integrated. They worked on the basics, so every page has a search engine friendly title, but the backend portion of the Wordpress platform wasn’t really optimized. I myself don’t know how to make it more SEO-friendly, but I know that it’s a long process. I really didn’t expect that to be part of the web design process, but Big Drop could have done a bit more with SEO. They did, however, optimize the site better than my previous one.

""Big Drop went above and beyond by giving us a full, custom website.""

**BACKGROUND**
Please describe your organization.

We are a construction company in New Jersey. We offer construction management services for various clients throughout the state.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What business challenge were you trying to address with Big Drop?

We needed a developer for our website.

**SOLUTION**
Please describe the scope of their involvement in detail.

They developed our WordPress website.

How did you come to work with Big Drop?

We hired Big Drop following online research for WordPress developers. They came up as the first result by Googling "WordPress website developers." I figured that, if their site can come up first in Google, they can do a good job for me. They had very good reviews online, I checked their work, and we were satisfied.

They're located in New York, which is not too far from us. We called them and met face to face at their office. We hit it off and authorized them to proceed.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with them a year ago [2015]. Our website should go live this week.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Could you share any statistics or metrics from this engagement?

I'm very satisfied with the final product. Big Drop was able to incorporate everything we wanted into the website. Many of the companies that we interviewed at the same price point were either working with templates, or hybrids, featuring a custom home page and interior pages made from templates. Big Drop went above and beyond by giving us a full, custom website. This added a lot of value to the company, which is one of the reasons we chose them.

What distinguishes Big Drop from other providers?

I've worked on building a site many years ago with another company. The experience was unpleasant. The developers are not mind readers, so they won't know what you expect. We would communicate what we wanted, and they would put that on paper, so to speak.

The most unique and enjoyable thing I found working with Big Drop is a platform that they provide for working on revisions. They will create a mockup of each page, upon which you can circle elements and add bullet points, showing them exactly what you want changed. Even if you are halfway around the world, it would still work. This helped us with the design and sped things up considerably.

Is there anything Big Drop could have improved or done differently?

Not that I can think of. Big Drop was significantly better than the web developers I used in the past. It was a breath of fresh air and a joy to work with them.

We found Big Drop through online research. There were many choices which we eventually narrowed down to five, then three candidates. We looked through all the information that we could find, consulted with our more IT-versed team members and those with different expertise, that could look at the company differently. Big Drop received good comments, and their proximity was also a factor, being based in New Jersey. We gave them a call, they responded quickly, and the first impression was very good.

Could you provide a sense of the size of this initiative in financial terms?

The total cost for the website construction was around $18,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with them in 2014, around April. The website was launched at the end of that year. They host the site, and we still work with them occasionally on other matters. They're always helpful when we come to them with a problem.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Could you share any statistics or metrics from this engagement?

Big Drop’s design skills are excellent. The website holds up even two years later. They perfectly understood what we were trying to achieve, and this has helped our business. The site looks very elegant and simple. Even if a visitor doesn't buy anything, or if the site looks a certain way, they will spend more time on it, and this is what we were hoping for.

What distinguishes Big Drop from other providers?

When partnering with someone, they look to create a long-term relationship. They are very responsive, which is unusual in present days. Getting a quick response can be a surprise, even if it's a single line. Sometimes we end up talking in the middle of the night. Communication, responsiveness and attitude make a big difference when addressing a problem.

We used to host the site with a larger company, but chose Big Drop because we saw them as a small business looking to build long-term relationships. In my experience, this is unique about them.

Is there anything Big Drop could have improved or done differently?

The shipping integration of the site could have been done more efficiently. They have to deal with a third-party vendor that implements those applications, which resulted in problems with the automatic linking with UPS for displaying shipping fees. They were great in working around the clock to help us with this. Looking back though, I do wish they'd have done a bit more research on this feature.

**The Review** — Oct 31, 2014

**Feedback Summary**: Big Drop was constantly dedicated, methodical, and timely throughout a rushed 2-month development process that required construction of an entirely new website. Their personable, highly skilled employees helped the agency stand out from the competition.
""I am 100 percent satisfied with their performance.""

**BACKGROUND**
Please describe your company.

We do technology consulting, software implementations mostly.

What is your role and responsibilities?

I’m a director.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What was your goal for working with Big Drop?

We had a basic website, and we interviewed several of New York Web design firms, Big Drop being one of those. We needed our partner to take our generic site and make it into something really spectacular and sophisticated.

We do business with a lot of high-profile clients, so we needed something that looked more sophisticated and intelligent. We also wanted to move to the responsive design framework. We wanted video elements, we’re going to have a lot of content on the site, and so we needed someone to take us to that next level.

**SOLUTION**
Please describe the scope of their work.

Website design and development, training, consulting, support. They have done a little bit of everything for us. We ended up turning all of our support to them after we saw what they were capable of. We continue to collaborate on development work. I see changes and new things that I want all the time.

What was your process for selecting Big Drop with which to work?

Web research and personal references were the main factors. We do business with a lot of folks in New York, and some of them have done business with Big Drop. We had a couple interviews upfront, and conversations with them.

Can you provide a ballpark dollar figure for the size of the work that they’ve done for you?

Less than million dollars for sure, although who knows what we’ll be spending after all is said and done.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What were the results of the project?

The relationship is ongoing, but we are happy with the deliverables so far.

Are you satisfied with their performance?

I am 100 percent satisfied with their performance. Their people were absolutely amazing to work with and still are. They took exactly what we wanted and made it into something really nice. We’ve had lots of compliments from our customers on the new website. It’s been a great experience working with them.

Do you have any statistics or metrics to track improvement from the project?

Initially, we needed a very quick turnaround. Within two months, I wanted a brand new site, with a new responsive design, and then a new design on top of that to contrast from the original design.

In that two-month period, they delivered on time and within budget. Throughout the project, even though I wanted to rush it and just throw money at the situation, they were very methodical and very serious about their work. In the end, I was glad they took the time they needed.

Is there anything unique about them that really makes them stand out, compared to other companies?

I think it’s really the people that are unique. They are really an exceptional group of folks to work with.

Looking back on the work so far, is there any area that you think they could improve upon or something that you might do differently?

No. Which is rare because usually I can pick out something.

**Feedback Summary**: Big Drop was responsive, changing its internal team to find the right fit for the project. Once the right team was in helped a strength and the client was able to clearly define a corporate voice. The team showed commitment and motivation, and response to the new website was positive.
""It was a great collaboration between their ideas and our ideas." "

**BACKGROUND**
Please describe your organization and your role and responsibilities.

I work with the parent company to our largest career site. We also own other sites that cater to the technology industry, along with other industries that span between health care, hospitality, and financial services.

I am the senior manager of facilities administration. I've been working with the company for about 15 years, and I've played a lot of roles. I work directly with our CEO to support him and the functionality of the corporate office. I also oversee the administration of our global service with our different facilities and locations.

We've grown primarily through acquisition during the last few years. We have these fully functional businesses that we have needed to integrate into our group and offer the same services. I've started to coordinate global services so we can leverage the high volume of traffic our sites receive.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What was your goal for working with Big Drop?

As the holding company brand, we have struggled with keeping the focus on all of our individual brands, because that’s where the revenue streams originate. Although we're a public company, we're primarily held through institutions; we don’t have a lot of retail investors. In the past, we weren't trying to invest a lot of money into our corporate site when it was a basic investor relations site. Its purpose was to explain to our institutional investors who we are and keep all of our SEC [United States Securities and Exchange Commission] information current.

As we've grown, we try to compete with the big social networks and career sites, and we want to define who we are as a corporate entity. We decided it was time to upgrade our corporate identity and our website to help define who we are. We had an internal team that was comprised of myself, who's been around for a long time, and our VP of IR [investor relations] and PR [public relations], and that team as well as people from our marketing and editorial teams. We had a good group of creative people and people who are familiar with our content to help re-identify ourselves.

**SOLUTION**
What was your process for selecting Big Drop with which to work?

We build websites, but we didn’t want to redirect any of our internal resources to this big project of redefining ourselves and building a website. We decided to look elsewhere. We didn’t want to sink a lot of money into it because we thought we had some creativity here. We could do a lot of this ourselves, but we need somebody to help move the process along who has a keen eye and keen development resources.

We started scouting small firms. We didn’t want a big agency because we didn’t want it to be a long, overdrawn process. We were looking for a little agency that could give us their undivided attention and give us a good hands-on approach.

We found Big Drop online and I called them up. I liked my initial conversation with them. When they came in to present, they brought some good ideas to the original meeting. We liked that they were scrappy and that they had a lot of resolve. They brought a lot of good ideas, and we liked their aesthetic and the way that they communicated information with a lot of the examples they showed online with other design and development projects. They didn’t cost as much as the bigger agencies did. We decided to give them the project, and they were excited to work with us.

We started working together and had a tight timeline. For them, we were a fairly high-maintenance client because we had high expectations and objectives. We needed to find a way to redefine who we were and communicate who we were in a new, clean aesthetic. They helped us to do that. It was a great collaboration between their ideas and our ideas.

I wouldn’t say that they came up with some of the ideas, but they helped us get to the ideas. That was very valuable.

Please describe the scope of their work.

Their work was mostly the design aspect. Their project manager on the design side was great. She had a keen idea of what worked and what didn’t. We wanted a very sparse, minimal, specific way of delivering our content. She was great about articulating what worked and what didn’t work. We had our own ideas, too, and she was helpful in the process of sorting through those ideas.

When it came to the development, we were happy to let them develop it, too. However, the investor relations vendor that we chose gave us a good deal in terms of developing it because they were going to be hosting it too. We decided to go with them because we knew their infrastructure could support the site. Big Drop just did the design for us.

When did the site launch?

We launched in September of 2014.

Can you provide a ballpark dollar figure for the size of the work that they’ve done for you?

The project lasted about five months. I put about 20 percent of my time into it. It's hard to know how many hours they put into it. It was a sizable project. It was a big investor relations and corporate site.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Are you satisfied with the project?

Absolutely. We're very satisfied. We felt like we had a lot of success with Big Drop. The combination of the attention they gave us, the product that they achieved, and the price that they charged us was very reasonable compared to the other bids that we got. We're very happy with it. Throughout the organization, people are very impressed with the results.

Do you have any statistics or metrics to track improvement from the project?

No.

Is there anything unique about them that really makes them stand out, compared to other companies?

We had a unique situation, because it wasn’t just about designing a new website for us. Their team has great ideas and a good eye, but it wasn't just about designing a website. It was about finding our voice, setting ourselves apart from other corporate websites, and defining ourselves as a single brand rather than as multiple brands because we own a dozen different websites that cater to different industries.

That was a unique challenge, and we didn’t quite know how we wanted to relay that. Big Drop was willing to work with us on that. At first, we had some trouble with the right team. To design a website is a creative, collaborative, and iterative process. You need to have the right personalities and the right team working on it. They gave us the A team but, for whatever reason, we weren’t communicating. I don’t think we were hearing each other.

The owner stepped in and changed the team. The new team that he gave us, the project manager and the designer, were the right fit for us. Once we got the right team, we soared. I appreciated they he didn’t keep pushing it. He made the right adjustments and fine-tuned it. From there, we could really dive in. I appreciated his sensitivity in offering that.

Looking back on the work so far, is there any area that you think they could improve upon or that you might do differently?

It would have been easier for us at the beginning if internally, we had a better idea of what we wanted to say. The things we were communicating to Big Drop were hard for them to interpret because they didn’t have the history that we had together. It was hard for them to filter that through because it was all fresh. We knew they would bring a new, fresh perspective, but it didn't have the back story to it. It didn’t quite define us in the way that we wanted to at first.

If we had to do it again, we would have probably had a better starting point. Looking back, we eventually got there, and they definitely helped us get there.

**The Review** — Oct 23, 2014

**Feedback Summary**: Feedback on the accessible, easily navigable website was uniformly positive. In addition, Big Drop was responsive throughout multiple iterations during the 2-3 month development process. Their turnaround time was low, and their development process was very agile.
""We accomplished all the goals that we wanted to accomplish with that process.""

**BACKGROUND**
Please describe your company.

We are a consulting firm based in Silicon Valley, and we provide intellectual property advice to companies, we do valuation and strategy work around their intellectual property and innovation.

What is your role and responsibilities?

I’m the founder.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What was your goal for working with Big Drop?

Our goal was to upgrade an older website that was built three years before we did the project with Big Drop. We wanted to get a more current look and feel to the website, easier navigation, and include more access to media and content that would be more user friendly, as opposed to what we had before.

More people are finding us online now, so we wanted to have a good landing spot for people to see the kind of content we generate and get an impression of our services.

**SOLUTION**
Please describe the scope of their work.

We did all the copywriting ourselves. It’s very customized language because we deal with lawyers, patents, and legal issues. The copy is not something I would expect them to be able to generate. So, it was more design and coding. They did a little bit of the SEO [search engine optimization] work for us and some smaller digital marketing aspects.

What was your process for selecting Big Drop with which to work?

We just looked online and did research. We found a few companies and interviewed them. We really liked the look and feel of the website we saw and liked their work. The price was right, so we signed up with them.

Can you provide a ballpark dollar figure for the size of the work that they’ve done for you?

It was a two- to three-month process. We are a referral source for them in the Silicon Valley area, so that kind of factors in the price. The price is confidential.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Are you satisfied with their performance?

We’re very happy. We accomplished all the goals that we wanted to accomplish with that process, so we’re happy about that.

Do you have any statistics or metrics to track improvement from the project?

We’re getting great feedback. People have asked to be referred to them after looking at our website. It’s much easier to navigate. I don’t really have any statistics that would be helpful. The goal for me was more to be able to have a place where we can share content with potential clients more easily.

Is there anything unique about them that really makes them stand out, compared to other companies?

They’re very agile. Their turnaround time is great, and they are accessible all the time. We got a much higher number of iterations than you normally get with Web design firms. They get things done, and that’s the most important trait.

Looking back on the work so far, is there any area that you think they could improve upon or something that you might do differently?

No. I think everything worked fine. Even though we worked together during a growth period for them, we still got the attention we needed and everything was done, so it’s all good.

""They were great, they helped me, they were very responsive.""

**BACKGROUND**
Please describe your company.

We’re a merchant services company. We provide the ability for business to accept credit cards as a form of payment.

What is your role and responsibilities?

I’m the CEO.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What was your goal for working with Big Drop?

We needed to redesign our whole website. We had an outdated one that didn’t work correctly, so we contracted Garry [Kanfer, president at Big Drop] and his team to just redesign our site, make it more functional, make it mobile friendly, or cross-platform friendly.

**SOLUTION**
Please describe the scope of their work.

In addition to the website design work, they also provided us with a very cool interface where we can login and speak with the developer on the team. We can update and comment on the production of the site.

What was your process for selecting Big Drop with which to work?

We shopped around and examined a few firms, and obviously price is a factor but it’s not the only factor. Judging from the experience and our conversations with a few other companies, I think Big Drop was the best. They had the most knowledge. I think we made the right decision when we went with them.

Can you provide a ballpark dollar figure for the size of the work that they’ve done for you?

I have no idea. I don’t think it was too complex of a project, because we have only an information site. The functionality is very limited, but they did a good job.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Do you have any statistics or metrics to track improvement from the project?

Everyone who saw it said we have a really nice site, so I guess that’s good. We don’t do too much online advertising because we’re a small business. We revamped the site just for credibility, so when someone does look at us, it looks modern and nice. So, we weren’t really expecting revenue or leads directly from the site.

Is there anything unique about them that really makes them stand out, compared to other companies?

I don’t work with too many Web developers, so I don’t know if they’re unique. They were great, they helped me, they were very responsive, so I guess it’s really good.

Looking back on the work so far, is there any area that you think they could improve upon or something that you might do differently?

I really don’t know, because my project was so simple. We had some design hiccups, but they make the proper changes in a timely fashion. We were satisfied with them.

""[T]hey can do the design and development so I have the full solution with one vendor.""

**BACKGROUND**
Could you provide a brief description of your company and your role?

We’re about to launch captainlights.com. Captain Lights is a Facebook marketing and training company. We started off on Facebook, giving tips and techniques on how to profit from a Facebook page and best practice tips. With our Facebook page, in no time, we got about 300,000 followers. That’s when I decided to register it as a company and try to create a website.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What is your goal for the work with Big Drop?

Big Drop is doing my website for Captain Lights. We’ve created four products. I actually asked them to do the designs only for my website initially. They did a very good job. I wasn’t too happy with my programmer, so I eventually gave that job to Big Drop also. So, right now, they’re in the process of doing the programming and the shopping carts that I need for my website. It is great that they can do the design and development so I have the full solution with one vendor.

**SOLUTION**
Can you describe their scope of work in more detail?

They designed my whole website with many pages. I have many products that need to be portrayed correctly. I need all the products to be showing on one page. The call to action button had problems and didn’t fit on the same Web page. With the Big Drop design, they actually made it in a way that all my call to action buttons are available on the first page, which is what I was looking for. They did a good job with that concept. That’s why I decided to give them more work.

I also have an application that they’re working on. I’m still waiting for a quote from them. But right now, they’re definitely going full force with the programming and development of captainlights.com.

How did you select Big Drop as your solution partner?

I started with a Google search. I just typed in “top Web developers/Web designers.” I had maybe 10 options. At that time, I was in New York. The second result was Big Drop and they were in New York. I called their managing partner and asked to meet in person in New York City. We spoke about the project and I liked what I heard. He decided to take on our work so the engagement began shortly after the meeting.

Could you provide a sense of the size of this initiative in monetary terms?

All in all, the cost is about $10,000, including the design and the programming. As they take on my next project, that number might increase and perhaps double.

Is the work still ongoing?

Their work is still not done and is ongoing. They need about 45 days to complete the project. Big Drop has finished the graphical part, which I’m very happy with.

Can you describe the app development project in more detail?

We’re creating an application that will serve a certain need in the market, so it’s going to be an Android and an iOS application that is tied to our website.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Are you satisfied with the results of Big Drop’s work?

I am impressed with the results so far. They have a system called Bitrix. With Bitrix, I can log in at any point and see the progress of the project. The programmers can post an update and I’ll get a notification email. I’ll check the update up, and I can put notes and amendment. I was impressed, because I’ve never worked with developers that have software, which manages the whole process.

When working with Big Drop, is there anything you’d consider unique or special about their approach or development methodology that distinguishes them from other vendors you’ve used?

They have plenty of designers and programmers to choose from. They’re all professionals. They met the deadlines that they posted, which is rare in the IT [information technology] industry. Their software project management system keeps the schedule on track.

I would say what stands out would be the management software that they have. Garry [Kander, the vice president of Big Drop] is also outspoken and is a good marketer for his company. I also want to commend the designer that I’m working with currently. She understand exactly what our vision is. All in all, Big Drop is a very good company. I will work with them again, and I would recommend them to other people as well.

In retrospect, are there areas that you think they could improve on or that you would do differently?

There’s nothing I can point out that needs improvement. The process was a pleasant experience. Anything that I wasn’t really happy with, they fixed for me quickly. I cannot mention anything negative or an area where they could improve. I still haven’t seen the programming aspect. So, I’m looking forward to seeing that and I hope it’s as good as the design phase.

**The Review** — May 15, 2014

**Feedback Summary**: After launch, unique page views nearly doubled and bounce rates decreased from 65 percent to 53 percent. End-users were very impressed with the new site's visuals and functionality. Big Drop was recommended for their stellar code quality, consistent delivery, and strong project management.
""They clearly have some real talent on their team.""

**BACKGROUND**
Could you briefly describe your organization?

I work for a national healthcare provider with 17 locations around the United States. We specialize in providing non-surgical scoliosis treatment to both children and adults.

What is your position?

I’m one of the founders and lead physicians.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
Could you describe the business challenges you were attempting to address when you initiated the relationship with Big Drop?

We had sizable user volume coming to our site, but our lead conversions were much lower than I’d expected, considering the amount of contact forms submitted by users. One of our primary challenges was trying to get people to take action on the information they consume on the site. Our other primary challenge was improving our placement in organic search results. We needed our site content optimized for search engines, so we could increase the number of unique visitors to our site, effectively increasing the size of our lead pipeline. Those were the core issues we faced when deciding to find a vendor.

**SOLUTION**
Could you describe the scope of the projects in greater detail?

They were responsible for replacing our old Joomla-based site with a new WordPress site, which required both design and development work. They were also responsible for optimizing our site for search engines and configuring our marketing campaigns. They provided both technical and strategic services to us and continue to provide ongoing support on a case-by-case basis.

Could you describe the rationale behind your transition from Joomla to WordPress?

WordPress was the recommended CMS [content management system] proposed by Big Drop. First of all, it’s a platform they have significant experience with. Second of all, they made it very clear to us that WordPress was the more user friendly and accessible of the two solutions. I had some basic knowledge of WordPress, and I trusted their recommendation, so we decided to ditch Joomla and implement a WordPress site.

How did you select Big Drop as your solution partner for this endeavor?

We conducted some online research on developers in the area. Big Drop was one of a handful of vendors that I shortlisted and decided to send our statement of work to. The proposal I received from them was very convincing, so I decided I needed to meet their leadership in person and discuss the details of our work. They came to our office and showed us some of their previous work as well as described their approach to our project. Based on that evaluation, I just felt confident in their ability to deliver the site we wanted.

Could you provide a sense of the size of this initiative in monetary terms?

In total, our new site cost between $5,000 and $7,000.

When was the site launched?

We launched the new site on April 15 of this year [2014].

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
In terms of results, could you share any statistics, metrics, or user feedback you’ve received that would demonstrate the effectiveness of their work?

Using Google Analytics, I was able to see that our bounce rate improved from 65 percent to 53 percent. Our unique page views almost doubled. We’ve received very positive compliments from some of our end-users.

When working with Big Drop, is there anything you’d consider unique about their approach or development methodology that distinguishes them from other vendors?

I’ve worked with Web developers and designers for a very long time, basically since the beginning of the Internet. My experiences with vendors have varied pretty widely, but they really stand out for the quality of their coding. I’ve been very impressed with the consistent nature of their high-quality work. They clearly have some real talent on their team, both in terms of technical development and project management.

Paralegal, Boutique Law Firm

- Review Type: Phone Interview

**The Review** — Apr 4, 2014

**Feedback Summary**: Big Drop established clear, accessible communication throughout the development process, setting themselves apart from previous development partners. The new site was streamlined and easy to navigate, highlighting the firm's expertise and helping it stand out within the industry.
""It doesn’t look outdated like many websites in the legal industry.""

**BACKGROUND**
Please describe your firm.

We are a law firm. We deal primarily with medical malpractice and personal injury types of cases. We also are familiar with the state work, products liability, and those types of assets. Our biggest concentrations are medical malpractice and personal injury.

What is your role and responsibilities?

I’m a paralegal for the firm. I deal specifically with our estates in New York with settlements that have to do with infants. An infant being defined in the state of New York is anyone under the age of 18 where you need to pursue court approval for settlements.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What was your goal for the work with Big Drop?

Our firm needed to reach out to the public and to show transparency about what the firm is and what we do. We express this through social media like Twitter and Facebook. We need to have a clear, concise and transparent website with an interface that people are familiar with. We couldn’t be more pleased with the results.

**SOLUTION**
Can you please describe their work in more detail?

The work involved improving our website. First of all, we had a lot of links that didn’t work. The interface was completely off. Pictures were all around the place. It wasn’t very clean at all. We didn’t have a real direction for the web content. We had some ideas. We wanted to include the logo on our page.

We wanted to have a fresh perspective and almost like an outside type of communication with either the public or our own clients. Big Drop was able to assist with putting together something that is not only appropriate, but is effective and efficient. Outside of the actual Web design, there is also training. In our field, things are always constantly being updated and changed. He is training a few of our staff to update the website. That is also an asset that they provided. It is a living document.

What was your process for selecting Big Drop?

To be honest, I don’t know the process. In hindsight, it was obviously the right choice. One of the biggest issues that we’ve had in the past dealing with the website is communication and making sure that our ideas are lined up. Communication is key since we always have an idea of what we want but need to communicate it to the Web design team.

Previous firms would simply do the Web development work and never talk to us again. They wouldn’t talk to us about changes and we were stuck with an imperfect product.

Can you provide a sense of the size of the initiative with a general cost range?

I think it’s a pretty significant investment for these purposes. The initial website work was around $8,000.

When will the work be completed?

As I said, he is training a few of the staff in our office to update the WordPress site. We’re doing a live blog. We need to familiarize ourselves so we can update our postings. Should there be something where a significant revision is necessary in the site, we will call Big Drop first.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Was the work wrapped up successfully?

The site was just posted a couple days ago. Everyone wants to look at what makes us important and what makes them want to call us. The new site really streamlines the ways of communication and allows viewers to find out all of our expertise in an easy manner. It has a very easy navigation menu and is very interactive. It doesn’t look outdated like many websites in the legal industry.

Is anything unique or special about Big Drop compared to other companies?

I would just say two things. Sometimes, there are too many cooks in the kitchen. We are able to trust them where we can give a big picture, and he is going to fill in all the blanks. It is not like we have to go every single thing if we want it to look just like the product itself. When we say this is the grand scheme, let me take care of that, and it is exactly what we wanted. There wasn’t a trillion times going back and forth. The other side of that, the communication is always there. I can’t highlight that enough of how important that is compared to some experiences we may have had in the past where it’s just not there. Highlight, one, the communication and, two, the trust and visibility to get to dot the I’s and cross the T’s when we’re giving him a canvas and allowing him to put in the ideas in his own format. It came out terrific.

Looking back on the work, is there anything that you think they could improve upon or something you might do differently?

I really don’t know. I can’t think of one.

**The Review** — Apr 4, 2014

**Feedback Summary**: Over a 4-month period after the site went live, sales increased from 15,000 to 100,000. The SEO services provided by Big Drop also led to a rapid rise in rankings. Thanks to their new SKU categorization, internal staff understood their business more fully.
""Big Drop, after they deliver the product, still communicates with the customers.""

**BACKGROUND**
Please describe your firm.

We’re restaurant equipment distributors. We use the e-commerce channel as our only solution channel. We have a classic e-commerce store with about 5,000 SKUs[stock keeping units] at this point, and we’re planning to expand to 50,000 by the end of 2014.

What is your role?

I am the owner.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What is your goal for the work with Big Drop?

We started working with them in June last year. We were trying to create a simple e-commerce store. We ended up creating a huge store with high quality because there are a lot of features that allow us to rise in the rankings in Google, making the customers’ experience a lot easier or user friendly. We spent about four months to make our site perfect. We’re still working on that actually. It’s a never-ending story.

**SOLUTION**
Can you assess Magento’s effectiveness for your company?

Magento gives you the flexibility of the backend office, and users can have complete control on what is going on in your site. You don’t have to go back to developers or designers to change small things. For example, if you want to get the customer’s account history or you want to configure your shipping process, you can find a way.

I strongly recommend Magento. It isn’t expensive if you use the Community Magento versus the Enterprise Magento. They constantly upgrade the backend of the platform itself. Magento added business channels so you can connect your catalogue to eBay, Amazon, or Google product accounts. They’re constantly updating the steps, and I really like it. It’s positively user friendly. You don’t have to have a computer degree in order to use it.

What was your process for selecting Big Drop?

I actually went through several companies, and I had a bad experience. With one firm, I purchased the site and wasted $7,500 for something that never worked.

My former business partner recommended Garry [Kanfer, Big Drop’s vice president] to me. I think Garry and Big Drop were doing the informational site for them because they have a different kind of e-commerce structure.

I like the way they designed my site. Big Drop, after they deliver the product, still communicates with the customers, to see how the site is behaving, because they want to make changes, if necessary. We went live on September 12, 2013. I still speak to Garry now on a weekly basis. That’s his main advantage versus other Web design firms.

Can you provide a sense of the size of your work with Big Drop with a general cost range?

I can give the exact number. The cost was more than $15,800, plus they helped us find the copywriter’s product.

Do you have any plans to expand the work with Big Drop?

I’m actually planning on expanding. I’m planning to create another 12 sites. The next stage is the design. I’m not really a designer, so I’ll use what Big Drop designers decide.

We are working on more functions for the home page and shopping cart still. These are the basic functionalities and with the checkout system that Magento provides. The one-page checkout system was also designed by Big Drop. The carts were designed by them.

We redesigned several sites because the scope of products is massive. Our portfolio is about 5,000 already, and we’re planning to expand it. We sell large equipment, small appliances, and kitchen essentials. There’s a different set for every single category of product. We spend a lot of time in terms of working in our category system. We actually started understanding our products a lot better after we’ve worked with Big Drop because they helped us categorize all the SKUs.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Do you have any stats or metrics to track the success of the project?

We started in September 12, but realistically, we started putting up a lot of SKUs on our site around December because we’re changing vendors and catalogs. Starting from December, our sales went up from 15,000, we’re closing down to almost 100,000 already.

The big jump happened when we started going up in the Google rankings. Big Drop provides SEO [search engine optimization] for Google also. They showed us the rules on how to upload the pictures, how do you name the picture, how do you put the description of the product, and what’s the proportion of this video, picture, text and support. By the time we were done, we started going up the Google rankings rapidly.

The only mistake that I made with a separate SEO expert was when he started building links, Google sent us the manual action notice that we were not acting properly within two weeks. I strongly recommend not using link building and just stick to regular SEO techniques. Do not outsource your SEO. I actually had to ask Big Drop to take down all the links and started working with them exclusively on SEO.

Are you satisfied with Big Drop’s performance so far?

So far, yes. We’re planning to redesign our site, a better version of the design. I want a better understanding of what we need from our side. We’re currently preparing a project for new design work with Big Drop. Maybe in May or June, we’re going to start working with them again. But, as a normal process, e-commerce stores need to be updated and changed in terms of design every year to 18 months. We will work with Big Drop long term.

Is anything unique or special about them that stood out as different from other companies?

First of all, they completed the job correctly. That’s a big issue with a website developer. Big Drop did a great job with design, development, and SEO. Google automatically started indexing the site and we started going up in the rankings. That’s a better advantage because the real expansion is not just how you design the site, but how you’re going to handle optimization afterwards.

Looking back on their work, is there anything you think they can improve upon or something you might do differently?

Definitely, the pricing plan. He gave us 50-50, so 50 percent down payment and 50 percent when finished. I’ve been negotiating with Garry to do 33-33-33 percent, but I haven’t convinced to do that.

""Big Drop is very responsive and flexible.""

**BACKGROUND**
Please describe your firm.

I work for a low-rate lawsuit financing firm. We provide advances to lawyers and others involved in lawsuits to pay for legal fees or other large expenses. We are based in New York, but have clients nationwide and two offices total.

What is your role and responsibilities?

I am a vice president, I'm responsible for marketing.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What was the business challenge you were trying to address?

Our website is supposed to be our main source of leads. At the time, the website wasn't helping produce leads, and our cost per conversion was too high. This was really hurting the business.

We were looking to convert more leads at a lower cost. We felt that switching to a new website could be a tremendous marketing opportunity.

**SOLUTION**
Can you talk about the scope of their work?

It included Web design and development. We decided to use WordPress because Big Drop recommended it.

Why did you select WordPress as your development platform?

We looked into a number of similar platforms. The main competitors were WordPress and Joomla. The visual images that WordPress offered were better, and that was our key attribute in the decision-making process.

What was your process for selecting Big Drop with which to work?

We found them though an Internet by typing relevant terms into Google. We really liked their website and the process that they outlined for client projects. I decided to give them a chance for this project because their experience was impressive. We didn't have any development or design skills in-house, so they provided the full range of services.

Can you provide a sense of the size of the initiative in dollar terms?

No. That's confidential.

When was the project completed?

It took 90 days and was launched in 2013.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What were the results of the project?

We improved our conversion rate and our branding image. We are very happy with the new site and customers tell us they love it also. We are happy with our decision to choose WordPress.

How did Big Drop perform?

The project was successful and wrapped up cleanly. There were no issues with the scope and budget. Big Drop is very responsive and flexible.

When working with Big Drop, what is unique or special about them compared to other firms?

Their great response and guidance is unique.

Looking back on the project, is there anything that you think they could improve upon or something that you might do differently?

No. Nothing.
