Since we started working with them, BeeWeb has handled the bulk of all our organization's engineering needs. Their team now manages the entire codebase for our webapp, maintaining and upgrading the quality, security, and functionality of the whole system (including infrastructural setup like AWS). BeeWeb builds all new features for our webapp, from small projects to large/complex new product suites. They also manage all server-side APIs connecting our webapp to our mobile apps (which are managed by a different team) and other 3rd-party softwares/platforms.

The BeeWeb team has executed many projects for us in our 3.5 years of work together. Most are completed on the planned timeline, with some taking longer than initially expected for justifiable reasons (unexpected technical challenges, scope creep, etc.), and a few completed faster than expected. In all cases the quality of work is very high, and the team has been communicative about progress, challenges, and timeline. BeeWeb is good at not only executing on instructions provided, but also contributing to project direction with insightful ideas and creative problem-solving. They regularly identify areas of opportunity proactively that we incorporate into our roadmap. Additionally, they are fantastic at responding quickly and effectively to random bugs reports, customer/internal requests, and other momentary items.

We needed software development support. Our company offers three core products, and we needed engineers to focus on one of them.

Initially, 2–3 engineers from BeeWeb worked on one of our product’s features. They helped us build out the product with feature-to-feature development and provided maintenance. Since then, our engagement has grown. Now, BeeWeb supports our development team across all three of our products, with an engineering team of close to 10 resources.  

The team works on our SaaS product; its core framework is JavaScript. BeeWeb uses React.js and Next.js for the front- and backend. On the database, they do a lot of MySQL work for us. They also manage our AWS systems, support us with Ruby on Rails and hosting, and do a lot of DevOps-oriented work. 

We have an in-house designer and provide BeeWeb with Figma files for them to work. Beyond the designs, they manage everything. Additionally, they offer services to our mobile application and website; they’ve modified the app.

We work with 12–13 teammates from BeeWeb. In the next month, we’ll grow our team to 16–17 members.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

To measure BeeWeb’s success, we look at the velocity of development. Compared to our last service provider, BeeWeb’s has increased our development speed 5X. We went from releasing a feature every month or month and a half to releasing a new feature every week. 

Moreover, our product officer loves working with BeeWeb; she consistently reports they’re very diligent and hardworking. The team is also thorough and produces high-quality work. As a result, we haven’t seen many bugs in our application, and when there is one, they hop on immediately and fix any issues.

How did BeeWeb perform from a project management standpoint?

They haven’t missed a single deadline throughout the 6–7 months we’ve worked together. BeeWeb is very diligent in delivering what they promise. We use Jira and GitHub for project management and do daily stand-up meetings for communication. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

BeeWeb’s speed, work quality, and communication skills are impressive. I’ve never worked with an outsourcing company that works as fast as they do while delivering such quality. They really invest in building high-quality software and assets and provide a lot of project management support, which many other companies don’t. 

Moreover, BeeWeb communicates well about how things are going. Therefore, we have very good visibility into the development lifecycle.

No, there’s nothing I’d have them improve; they’ve been great for us.

They delivered a high quality development service that started with one full-stack developer and then expanded to a team of 8 specialists including full-stack, front and back-end developers, project manager and QA engineer. In the initial stages, the team delivered MVP with basic features and then after continuous work reached a fully functional platform. Some of the main functionalities that BeeWeb developed included:

• Smart matchmaking functionality that connects couriers in search of delivery jobs with delivery companies in search of couriers based on skills, location and other parameters.
• Restructuring the platform’s architecture and ensuring stable performance given our large user base.
• Stripe payment integration. Ability for admins and companies to download different type of complex reports.
• Complex MongoDB aggregations on the Back-End side, microservice architecture, and DevOps services such as cloud infrastructure, server monitoring and full support with the use of AWS, Kubernetes, Docker.

• As of the measurable success, numbers speak for themselves- from 1 specalist to 6. This was a huge progress and a clear demonstration of the achieved success.
• They built the functionality of automated messages through Twilio for SMS and WhatsApp, and MailChimp for email communication. This was an important step because it addressed various scenarios such as getting notifications about open positions, relevant updates and much more.
• One of the biggest indicators for the delivered success was turning smart and complex algorithms into straightforward and easy-to-use platform both for couriers and companies.
  For couriers, applying for jobs is simple and user-friendly, as they can submit their application within a few clicks.
• On the other hand, the platform filters out leads through smart algorithm, helping businesses identify and connect with the most suitable candidates.

They are an extremely responsive team. Their ability to deal with urgent requests was almost instant. We have reached them even at Out of Hours with no issues. Items are always delivered on time or if there is a reason that will cause a delay, this is always explained to us with plenty of notice to manage our expectations. From their Scrum Masters to developers, from UX to Devops, I can not fault this team's project management.

We needed a Google Chrome extension created that could be paired with a proprietary platform - that the BeeWeb team created as well. We were super impressed with how quickly everything was brought to market.

Initially found on UpWork. I knew communication would be key, as well as an empathetic team to the fact that I am not a technical founder.

There is an end user experience and an Admin experience. We also needed approval from Google to be added to their store. The team executed on everything flawlessly - Google Approved on the first submission.

We've received tons of user feedback that is positive. They are writing reviews on Google to say as much.

They were super accommodative. We preferred Slack and email. There was always work to review when we woke up. We consider this team to be an extension of or own at this point.

How personal they made it. They often would come up with ideas and share - before implementation - so no extra work was done.

The technology works beautifully. And the team's communication is flawless. We love working with them. The one thing I wish was for a frontend QA designer to make things look prettier - they may have this and we decided not to pay for it. I don't recall.

I’m the CEO of Hot Spotz LTD, a new startup business in London. We’re an app that helps users find places to go and have frequent fun with their friends.

What was the scope of their involvement?

We initially did some wireframes and designs for the app. BeeWeb held our hands and walked us through the whole process. They came back to us with ideas; we bounced them off each other to get to the final product.

They’ve used React Native and Node.js for the backend and database. The app is a venue and party finder for people who want to go out in the evenings. Additionally, it has the possibility of networking and making friends. Users can direct message their friends and follow DJs and promotion teams for promotions they’d like to attend.

We started with the Android version and then moved to iOS early in the build. Currently, the app is available for both.

What is the team composition?

Our app manager is our main point of contact. We also deal with the owner; he’s been instrumental in helping us to get where we need.

Another company referred them. They said BeeWeb was great, and we’d be able to get what we needed from them.

The partnership began in June 2019, and it’s ongoing. However, we had to pause it during the COVID-19 pandemic.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

As non-coding founders, BeeWeb has been fantastic. They’ve shown us what’s necessary. Before, we dealt with a couple of companies that couldn’t put the app together how we wanted it. We now have a working app and are happy with it. Moreover, we’re willing to stay with BeeWeb for the next builds. We’re very happy with how they’ve worked with us. Our app manager is absolutely incredible.

How did BeeWeb perform from a project management standpoint?

They’ve been fantastic. We know that the project ran over due to some changes during the major part of the build. We had to go back to the wireframes to add a few more screens and get the functionality we wanted. In addition, they’ve done a great job with the budget.

The team has been proactive with any bugs we’ve found. Updates come every two days once we spot an issue, and BeeWeb’s team gets to it straight away. All in all, they work diligently to ensure our problems are fixed as quickly as possible.

We speak at least three times a week to make sure things are done. We use Jira for project management and Skype for regular communication.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Even when we’ve had problems with cash flow, they’ve foreseen what’s going on and helped as much as they could. BeeWeb carried on with the build even though we couldn’t pay the invoice within the 30-day window. We paid them as soon as we had the money, but we were very happy with the way they dealt with us. Overall, BeeWeb has done great bits for us, and they’ve kept the price below the budget, which is fantastic. We’re really happy with them.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They had to find a developer who could work with our guidelines, and it took them a bit of time to find that person. However, once they found the developer, he was well overqualified to do what we needed. He worked hard to get it done and even added a few pieces that we didn’t even think about, which was great.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Stay on top of your developers and make sure you’re clear and concise about what you need. Additionally, give them enough room to maneuver around and improve your project with their ideas. Allow them to help as much as they can because they find things you might haven’t thought of at the time.

I knew that Armenia’s IT sector was growing fast, and that convinced me to check out Armenian companies to build our website. 

Then, I met the marketing manager of BeeWeb, and we had a great discussion about my options. I ultimately decided to build the website with them because of their pricing and work quality.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

My goal was to build a simple website with good design and nice pictures — BeeWeb did a good job and met these goals.

How did BeeWeb perform from a project management standpoint?

I was satisfied with their ability to meet deadlines. We used LinkedIn and WhatsApp to communicate, and we had weekly meetings to manage the project and set schedules correctly. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

They understood exactly what I needed and gave it to me. For instance, when I couldn’t find the pictograms I wanted online, they developed them for me. 

It was difficult at first to translate what I wanted and explain it to people. Sometimes, there were misunderstandings. However, BeeWeb worked hard for me. After some meetings and negotiations, they delivered and met my requirements in terms of pictograms, site design, and layout. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

I was in Europe, and they were in Armenia, so there was a time difference between us. At the same time, our languages were different. That being said, the time difference wasn’t something they could control or improve. On top of that, they were great workers.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Companies in Europe have their preferences, and they focus on quality. With that in mind, BeeWeb can build great websites — there’s no doubt about it, so work with them.

Help us take our MVP and build it into a production grade application.

How did you select BeeWeb and what were the deciding factors?

We shortlisted 5 promising candidates and gave each a piece of the work to code. BeeWeb did the best job by quite a significant margin in terms of code quality, architecture and meeting the spec.

Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.

We delivered a series of wireframes and mockups and a server side API, BeWeb had to develop the front end using React and TypeScript.

They did this and provided us a solid application, adhering to two week sprints and regular standups to keep us appraised of the project.

How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

Two. A Senior Developer and a project liaison in case the dev was unavailable and another resource was needed.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

We wanted a scalable, reusable front end tech stack and were able to successfully take Bee's work and reuse it in another project. Both products were well received and won praise for their design, stability and responsiveness.

Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timelines.

We had three standups a week and two weeks sprints. Our contact at Bee was always available and we would communiate via Email, Skype, Slack, iMessage and of course our own tool. Bee were always flexible and responsive.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Fast, very fast in turning work around and the quality was very good with tests written for much of the code.

None.
