We were originally partnered with a different IT firm, but they struggled to work with our multi-state office operation. We wanted to find an agency that was based in Miami — near our main office — that could also work with our other locations in New York and Pennsylvania.

Generally, they provide managed IT services across all of our offices.

When we first brought them on, the BCA IT, Inc. team completed an audit of our current situation to determine whether or not our hardware and equipment was what we needed. 

Then, they set up a virtual cloud to enable remote working. We’re a majority web-based company, so everything we do in online and through our website. Their team manages all of our hosting and security needs, SSL (Secure Socket Layer) certificates, and any other IT tasks we need help with.  

What is the team composition?

Kenny (President, BCA IT, Inc.) is main representative. There are two people who handle our administrative needs, like helping us upgrade all of our computer equipment across all three offices. There are also several engineers that work on our account. 

How did you come to work with BCA IT, Inc.?

We use an accounting software that is very specific to our industry. They were providing support to the company that runs that software. When we were starting to look for a new IT firm to partner with, our CEO connected the dots and reached out BCA IT, Inc. 

How much have you invested with them?

We have an annual contract with them. When we first started, the initial agreement was for about $2,000 a month. As our team has grown, that has increased to about $5,000 a month.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started in 2017, and we’re still working with them.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Their services are timely and of high quality. BCA IT, Inc. set up our remote offices at the start of our partnership, and everything is still running smoothly. We didn’t even miss a beat when the COVID-19 pandemic hit. 

Their team is very hands on, engaging with us consistently — not just when there are IT issues. They make sure we are always up to date on the latest security technology, and give presentations to share information. Overall, we’re happy with their service.

How did BCA IT, Inc. perform from a project management standpoint?

They have an IT health email, which has been really nice because we’re all so busy. I can shoot over a message to that address, and a ticket is instantly created. Within a few minutes, I receive an email confirming my request and they usually get back to me via email or phone call in the next hour with an appropriate solution or response. Their customer service is excellent.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I’m most impressed by their IT knowledge and the quality of their service to clients.

None come to mind — they meet all of our needs.

Set up an assessment meeting with their team so they can get a big-picture understanding of what’s going on in your office. That way, they can provide a more accurate proposal.

I’m the owner and president of Edge Cordage, a cordage distributor. We supply everything from kite strings to mooring lines for ships, and all the different rope products in between.

We had an old-fashioned bookkeeping machine that didn’t retain any information. We were having inventory issues as well and decided we wanted to transition to a computer system to keep track of all of our information.

What was the scope of their involvement?

BCA IT helped us transition from our manual bookkeeping process over to a computer system. At the time, the company was just called BCA—it’s since split into BCA IT, but it’s all under the same family company. Likewise, the bookkeeping software we use is now called Sage, though it went by a different name at the beginning of our engagement. 

The BCA IT team helped us understand how to use the software and what we could leverage it for. We went out to their facilities about two or three times for training sessions. Once the software and computers were installed, they worked with us for a few days to migrate all of our vendors, customers, inventory, and accounts payable section onto the system.

We work with a team of about 10 people. 

How did you come to work with BCA IT, Inc.?

I’d been considering transitioning into software and looking at different programs to put in. A close friend of mine had installed the same software, which was more comprehensive than what we needed at the time. However, they were looking to expand into South Florida, so we ended up getting a great deal on the product. 

The big deciding factor was that it was the only software that was able to handle the length of some of our product descriptions, which could be up to about 200 words.

We’ve been working with BCA IT since 2004.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

They’re an excellent company. When you work with a provider, especially someone in the software business, nothing goes perfectly. The initial installation is one thing, but as the relationship goes on, the issues that come up along the way are another thing.

How well the provider reacts to those problems and how quickly they get them taken care of makes all the difference. Over the 16 year relationship we’ve had with BCA IT, they’ve always worked diligently to fix any problems. They stay with us until it’s resolved to our satisfaction.

They’re always available to take my phone calls, whether it’s their mainline or cell phones of my main contacts.

What did you find most impressive about them?

BCA IT always does what they say they’re going to do.

We always wish that they could fix problems faster, but that’s just a wish list.

Lay all your cards on the table with BCA IT in regards to what you need and how you want it done. The more they know about what you want to do, the easier it will be for them to recommend how to do it.

What was the scope of their involvement?

BCA provides my client with IT support for both hardware and software. The law firm has a server environment as well as individual workstations. Employees can reach out directly to BCA if they have any software issues. If it’s a hardware issue, the law firm’s owner or I will get in touch.

How did you come to work with BCA IT, Inc.?

When the law firm put out the idea of a server upgrade, their in-house IT person introduced them to Kenny (President) to make it happen. From the moment we met him, he has been incredibly professional and forthcoming with information and knowledge.

I’ve worked for a law firm full-time and went through many IT people. Quite frankly, in my experience, the person giving the presentation tends to know the jargon without knowing what happens behind the scenes. If we ask them questions, they don’t actually know if what you request is possible or easy. In this case, Kenny presented it to us and knew what he was talking about. He never oversold or misguided us. That was so huge to me after experiencing the opposite.

We’ve spent over $60,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We first met them about three years ago. We took a baby step with them in going to the cloud with Office 365, but it was a while before we could jump in to redo the server. That’s what we’re working on now.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

BCA is incredible. They give very professional, detailed proposals and present us with their offerings and suggestions. They take the time to explain everything thoroughly to us as well.  There are clients that I’m begging to switch to BCA. One of my previous clients decided to upgrade their servers with a different IT company, but they’ve since had a nightmare in that transition. I believe they’re going to jump over to BCA for their tech support from here on out.

How did BCA IT, Inc. perform from a project management standpoint?

They’ve been incredible. I’ve worked with their inside office, and they’ve been very efficient in responding with a request to something that I had to bill for. One thing I like about them is that they try to keep our team consistent. I don’t like a company with a call center system. BCA put a team on our account that works with us throughout the partnership.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The fact that they deliver what they present impresses me. I cannot say enough good things about BCA. I’ve been in this field for 20 years, and my previous firm went through 5 IT support people. My life would’ve been so much easier if we had BCA on staff. I honestly have not met such a nice company to work with.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, not at this point. We haven’t been able to work with the things they’ve done since COVID-19 started.

Do everything you can to get Ernesto (Senior System Engineer) and Dennys (IT Support Specialist) on your team!

To implement the services (mentioned above) the team at BCA IT worked hard (even at night to not interrupt our operation during business hours) and get the job done in a timely manner. If any user in our company has an IT issue or needs support, they can open a service ticket and the IT support team responds to us quickly with solutions.

In addition, prior to getting BCA IT we were in the process of migrating to a new domain for our email. Once we partnered with them, they helped us do this right away and was effectively able to get it up and running within weeks.

We have an account manager who oversees our IT services. The account manager explains what is being done on their end and provides a health status which gives us insight on IT performance and recommends what needs to be reviewed and implemented to get better.

Major success! It only took a couple of weeks to get the new and virtual servers up and running, then a complete conversion of all of our desktops and laptops to the new system, to a Windows 10 Operating system to the newest Microsoft Office Suite, 365 Professional.

Their team was excellent...and I do mean EXCELLENT! They were totally available to us, working within the constraints of the work we needed to complete, non-intrusive...it was a "first" in our Company to be treated this way.

The most impressive? In truth, every aspect of their work was impressive. Their knowledge, their flexibility, their responsiveness...they just made the entire process from beginning to ongoing easily accommodated. They would work at night so as not to interrupt our work. It was GREAT!

No, I can honestly say there is nothing that needs improvement. They are 100% behind their work, their support team is unbelievable with the IMMEDIATE response tickets that are created and acted upon. BCA was brought in to spearhead a conversion from on onsite instance of Digium. they also ended up managing our IT infrastructure as well.

This was an emergency. The vendor had disappeared and we were left without a phone, more than 100 - 300 customers per day were unable to call us through our main phone system.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

BCA is a company that I had used previously, and I knew the owner so I asked to see if he could help me.

It was necessary for BCA to first stabilize the situation which is what we focused on, essentially "getting us up and running" they were able to get us completely running in about 30 hrs which was unbelievable considering they literally nothing to work with. No SIP, no server, no nothing.

The team consisted of VERY knowledgeable BCA consultant.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We were basically up within 24-30 hrs. So we were only impacted for about 2 - 2.5 working days. BCA was ultimate ale to get us completely in the cloud with over 25 users in about 2 weeks. They were a very professional, empathetic, and knowledgeable team.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Extremely effective. As an MSP they locked down our security, no viruses, no wasted employee time on sites.. etc..

What did you find most impressive about this company?

I think I would responsiveness. They are available and wiling to research the issue. Many times in the business of technology people pass the buck and BCA really steps up and addressed the issue once and for all. In my opinion they are no designed to be cheap, they are designed to provide companies effective solutions that stick through changes in emerging technologies and threats to the flow of business.

I would say really.. nothing. At a basic level they are always available and I have had no issues with them. Once BCA configures your system, it just works like its supposed to.
