We needed a mobile application that would show data received from an IoT device and would allow one to control it.

We had a bad experience with a previous company that started developing this application, and began looking for another team. Several friends recommended Axmit, and after communicating with them, we were pleasantly surprised by a radically different approach to work.

It was important for us to understand the timing and the budget for development, so it was decided to prepare a specification for the application. Their team was collecting all the necessary information on the project from us for a while, and then we received a detailed specification with a description of all stages of work. By the time of our acquaintance with Axmit, we already had an application design, so they immediately triggered the development. We used React Native. The work was divided into several stages, and at the end of each stage they gave a presentation of the latest version of the application. They completed the work stated in the specification and published the application to stores.

What was the team composition?

Project manager and several developers. In case of critical issues, their CTO got involved in troubleshooting as well.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Our startup is at the development stage and has not yet entered the market, so we tested the application on a test group. It fully meets our requirements and works equally well on iOS and Android

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

We regularly received feedback from the project manager on the results of the work performed. We used Slack for communication. At the time of the development of the app, we had a beta version of it, so there were bugs and inaccuracies from time to time that we discussed together on calls via Skype and found solutions for them. All problems were solved promptly and did not affect the overall timing of the project.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

They have a very professional approach to work: they anticipate critical points of the project and suggest solutions in a timely manner.

Are there any areas for improvement?

Everything was great.

I oversee Marketing as one of my main functions at the company that I work for. We manufacture and produce foodservice products that are sold through our franchise network.

As one of our responses to the pandemic last year, we wanted to be able to give our customers a way to order products from our stores for pickup both conveniently and safely online. We hoped to be able to open a new channel for our stores and to improve accessibility during a time when low-touch was an expectation in the purchase journey of our customers.

We were impressed with the Axmit team's attention to detail and their care for client success. We ultimately decided to work with them because we felt confident that we would be in good hands.

We had a series of discussions to help clarify the design. As a company that had no experience working on a project of this nature and scale, we relied on Axmit team's experience and knowledge to guide us through the milestones they helped set for our project.

I coordinate closely with a project manager who helps translate and articulate our project details and goals into features that work with our system. There are about 4 or more others working behind the scenes as well.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

We were able to launch a minimum viable product before the end of the year, which gave us a great start to the new year. Our milestones were all achieved on time, with little to no delays. We continue to work with Axmit for further development on our project.

We work closely on Slack and using google documents to share information. The project manager that I work with is prompt with replies and persistent in clarifying details, which I found was very helpful because the project team in my company does not have the technical background to understand all of the moving parts.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

I found most impressive the attention to detail that Axmit showed when designing our project. On some aspects, they would also point out how our requests and features would affect us beyond just the development of the platform, such as the financial aspect of seeing a return on investment for our project.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

There were some misunderstandings on some project feature designs due to language, although these are being worked on already as they are very receptive to feedback.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

A platform MVP was requested and we got a full beta platform 1.0 delivered, so more than we asked on a better quality we agreed. We are very happy with the outcome and will recommend Axmit to everyone. We appreciate the service and quality delivered and thanks to the whole team!

We had wireframes/prototype for the app, developed over the last few years, but needed to outsource the development to a firm who could deliver a professional product on time and on budget.

Develop a mobile app (MVP) for both iOS and Android.

A detailed, fully costed spec was delivered quickly. I was particularly impressed with the thoughtfulness of quirks and suggestions, they really paid attention to the problem we were trying to solve for. One particular element of the build (ID verification provided by a third party vendor) was an unknown/untested feature but Axmit were able to help us navigate the dynamics and I am very pleased with both the process and end result for MVP. We are now working on further enhancements and additional features. I would also note that communication was seamless and overall the experience was entirely frustration free! I never met the team in person neither did we ever speak on the phone but Slack facilitated a very efficient communication channel. Quite miraculous across three different timezones and (at least!) three sets of spoken languages.

Our processes and projects are characterized by cross-functional interactions between ordinary employees. None of our previous task tracking tools gave us sufficient information about our problem-solving processes and progress toward our strategic goals.

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

After implementing the software, levels of performance discipline have increased by 60%, staff involvement has increased by 33%, and the average percentage of quarterly goals achievement has reached 75%.

This is the first time we have completely achieved our yearly goals, including indicators of profit and rates of revenue growth. We attribute this success to the improved efficiency of our management systems, to which this project contributed significantly.

We call the project manager every week, and our communication is easy and clear. Axmit is sensitive to our feedback and attentive to detail. The team delivers on time and reacts quickly if we need urgent fixes.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Axmit behaves more like an IT partner than a vendor. They deliver brilliant results based solely on our ideas. We don't even think about the technical side of the project, because our project managers are deeply involved in defining our business goals and suggesting effective solutions.  It's magical when the result exactly matches what we imagined.

There isn't much to improve, although it would be helpful to release software with user guides to help staff integrate.

Our projects often started with an idea, guideline, or description. This often led to a discussion, where the project manager shared his experience, which helped us to mutually agree upon the task description. Once we decided on the workflow and functionality, their team did the development. Once the task was completed and approved by the manager, we could do final testing and ask for further improvements.

The team has about five people assigned to our project, including a project manager who helped us to concretize and delegate tasks. They added more developers as needed.

We hired Axmit to develop an MVP for our product including a backend, a web app, and a mobile application.

We wanted to duplicate the features of our Drupal prototype in a scalable, functional MVP.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

We listed over 50 companies, interviewed five, and chose Axmit. They were the only ones who worked through the details, understood the product, and asked the right questions. Their project proposal actually helped us gain a better understanding of the required scope of work.

We provided technical requirements, feature descriptions, and UX design. After discussing the details and implications and iterating on the design, Axmit implemented our desired features: tasking for large amounts of users and social media APIs.

A project manager is our single point of contact. Altogether, 10 people are but working on the project, but that number changes depending on the project stage and required skills. Additionally, three of their team members came to visit our offices for a week: their CEO, our project manager, and a DevOps resource.

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

The collaboration has exceeded our expectations. We quickly extended our original contract from a basic MVP to full-time servicing to continue working on the product. We used the MVP to gain our first clients and were able to raise our first funds based on this traction.

We use Slack for communication, and YouTrack for Kanban project management. There isn’t a language barrier between us and we haven’t had any misunderstandings or deadline issues. They’ve even responded to emergency queries on holidays and weekends.

Axmit is one of the rare vendors that want to thoroughly understand the product they're working on. When we reviewed their development pipeline with an external mentor, they were impressed that an early level startup like us has such a high-level CI/CD pipeline set up.

As usual, it took some time to get used to the remote workflow and each other’s communication/documentation style, but after we got everything working, the collaboration has been great.
