Our products combine GPS-based navigation, professionally created audio content, maps, and multimedia to help travelers explore destinations independently and at their own pace. Our mobile apps offer self-guided driving and walking tours covering popular destinations, national parks, cities, historic sites, and scenic routes. Using location-based technology, the app automatically delivers relevant stories, directions, historical information, and points of interest as travelers move through a tour. Our services include digital travel content, GPS-based audio tours, offline tour access, multilingual experiences, interactive maps, and trip-planning features. Our goal is to make sightseeing more accessible, informative, and engaging by providing travelers with a convenient digital alternative to traditional guided tours.

The scope of work involved providing software development support for the ongoing development and maintenance of Action Tour Guide’s mobile applications. Avisoft’s developers worked closely with our internal product, development, and QA teams to implement new features, enhance existing functionality, resolve technical issues, and support application releases.

Key deliverables included: 

Development and enhancement of features across the Android and iOS applications.

Bug fixing, troubleshooting, and improvements to application stability and performance. Integration and maintenance of third-party services and APIs required by the applications.

Updates to ensure compatibility with newer operating systems, SDKs, and platform requirements.

Improvements to user experience, navigation, maps, GPS-based functionality, and tour-related features.

Support for application testing, QA validation, debugging, and production release activities.

Ongoing maintenance and technical improvements to ensure the applications remain reliable and scalable.

The project resulted in measurable improvements to the development and delivery of our Action Tour Guide mobile applications.

Key outcomes included:

Increased development capacity: Additional developers enabled us to handle multiple feature development, maintenance, and bug-fixing activities in parallel.

Faster feature delivery: New app features and enhancements were developed and released more efficiently, supporting our product roadmap.

Improved app stability: Technical issues and reported bugs were identified and resolved, improving overall application reliability and user experience.

Platform compliance: Applications were updated to support newer Android and iOS versions, SDK requirements, and platform standards.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

What we found most impressive was the developers’ ability to quickly understand our existing application, adapt to our development processes, and work effectively with our internal teams. They were responsive to changing requirements, willing to take ownership of assigned tasks, and able to handle both new feature development and technical troubleshooting. Their flexibility and ability to provide additional development capacity when needed were particularly valuable in helping us maintain development momentum and meet our product and release requirements.

Are there any areas for improvement or something Avisoft could have done differently?

Overall, we were satisfied with the support provided by the development resources. There were no major concerns or significant areas that negatively impacted the project. As with any development engagement, communication around timelines and task estimates could be made even more proactive for complex or changing requirements. However, the resources were responsive to feedback and worked with our team to address any issues as they arose.
