Excellent project management with repeated on time delivery of project goals. Great communication via phone or e-mail. Project was delivered on time and communication remained good despite the challenges of the COVID pandemic.

Their ability to understand the brief and quickly present viable solutions was impressive. The technical skills were equally matched with great UI/UX design. Where necessary Atomic bent over backwards to collaborate with our own software engineers to get the best possible solution.

Atomic excelled in all areas of the project.

I’m a development officer at Youth Sports Trust, a youth sport charity in England. I’m in charge of a number of programs working with schools and young people.

What challenge were you trying to address with AtomicMedia?

We wanted to commission the development of a brand-new performance parent app. It provides parents of talented young athletes with education and tools to help them with the challenges of parenting young athletes.

What was the scope of their involvement?

We were new to the app development space as a company and didn’t have strong knowledge in the area. AtomicMedia has partnered with us through the whole life cycle of development, as well as creating visuals inside the app. The app comes for iOS and Android.

They’ve also helped us build our internal knowledge and develop marketing materials including brand imagery, infographics, and promotional collateral.

What is the team composition?

We’ve worked with four people in total from their team including a project manager, the development lead, and the design lead. Everything goes through the project manager, Luke (Senior Digital Project Manager, AtomicMedia).

How did you come to work with AtomicMedia?

We selected them based on their presentation and pitch after they responded to our tender.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent £40,000 ($50,000 USD) so far.

What is the status of this engagement?

Starting in June 2019, we ramped up quickly and they turned the app around in two months. We have a service level agreement (SLA) in place for app hosting and support. We plan on continuing to work with them on this and other apps.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Generally, we have statistics about uptake, use, and downloads that AtomicMedia provided through Firebase. As part of the rollout of the app, we spoke to around 1,000 parents who used the app and received excellent feedback. We’ve also commissioned an independent research company to develop broader insights into how the app is helping people, what’s good about it, and what could be improved. That process is ongoing.

How did AtomicMedia perform from a project management standpoint?

Their dedicated lead understands us as a company and was flexible with our deadlines. As a company, they’ve gone above and beyond the brief we gave them. We’ve new to mobile apps, and they’ve helped us to understand the process and deliver on time. The single point of contact was helpful in escalating any issues we found.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’ve made the experience seamless and showcased their expertise. Immersing themselves in the project, they provide attentive service, especially regarding the look and visual style of the final app.

Are there any areas they could improve?

It would have been helpful to understand the cost of additional features from the beginning. I’m not sure if nothing those things initially would have changed what we did, but it would have given us additional foresight before the end. Having metrics on the app at our fingertips without having to ask for them would have been nice as well.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Be clear on what you want to achieve and be open to being challenged by them. Their experience and ability to deliver from a visual point of view is great. Maximize their design and visual creation abilities. They bring a number of additional benefits you may not be aware of initially.

We needed a partner to build a website and manage SEO campaigns for us.

What was the scope of their involvement?

AtomicMedia developed our WordPress website and have managed our Google Ads account. Now, their team mainly supports our SEO campaigns. They direct our keywords strategy and provide website maintenance. Their team creates content, directs backlinking strategies, and optimizes our Google My Business account.

We have a main point of contact as well as an account manager.

How did you come to work with AtomicMedia?

Our managing director had an existing relationship with the managing director at AtomicMedia.

We’ve spent at least £30,000 (approximately $36,000 USD) on their services.

What is the status of this engagement?

We’ve collaborated with AtomicMedia prior to my working here. I’d assume the engagement began between 3­–4 years ago if not longer. I don’t know when they started with us specifically.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

When AtomicMedia started working with us, we were on page seven of Google for state agents in Nottingham. Now, we’re in the top three results on page one.

How did AtomicMedia perform from a project management standpoint?

We get regular reports and meet with the AtomicMedia team every month. They’re always quick to respond over e-mail—within a couple of hours. Their team has always been very responsive. In terms of deadlines and meetings, they were absolutely fine.

What did you find most impressive about them?

To be honest, Atomic Media is the only company that we’ve worked with here. They’ve performed well for us. That's why we haven’t chosen a different agency. Their team explains concepts effectively, helping us understand the value of our money.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, nothing that I can think of at the moment.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Keep in regular content with their team. Make sure to get reports and have AtomicMedia explain the results. Once their team describes strategies, it’s easy to see what they’re doing well. Since you hired them to do a job, make sure you understand where you're getting value from.

I’m the CEO and founder of an organization that provides software for the events, festivals, and security industries. We also provide training and consultancy in that field. Basically, it’s a full wraparound service for safety in the public space—particularly, for people going to festivals and concerts.

What challenge were you trying to address with AtomicMedia?

We noticed a gap in the market for quality incident management software. While people use spreadsheets, word documents, and even pen and paper, there were no efficient systems for the private sector to manage incidents. We hired AtomicMedia to create that software.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

AtomicMedia built a three-part software following wireframes. There is a web-based platform which enables all administrative functions, like creating new clients and events. Second, you can access the events in what we call the dashboard, which is a virtual control room for any given event. The final piece comprises native mobile apps for both iOS and Android.

Since we very quickly outgrew the performance of the original Sashido backend, AtomicMedia implemented bespoke software coding. We needed a system architecture to allow thousands of logins at different times throughout the week, which led to the development of an auto-scaling feature. Tailored to the specific amount of user traffic, this ensures optimal server performance and cost.

What is the team composition?

The entire team consisted of 12–15 people. We had three account managers, a technical director, and 3–4 others who were in charge of building the code. Two others implemented the Android system, and we had strategy leads as well.

How did you come to work with AtomicMedia?

We canvassed five different suppliers: one overseas, and four in the UK. We very quickly realized that we should refrain from developing overseas because it would undermine the trust that our clients have in our GDPR compliance.

After narrowing our search down to UK suppliers, we met the AtomicMedia team and saw the quality of their projects as well as their client pedigree. Although they weren’t the cheapest option, we sensed that they had the full stack, so we chose them for their skills and value for our money.

That’s commercially sensitive, so we’d like to keep the value of the software confidential.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in October 2017, and the work is still ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

We’ve tracked success in terms of key performance indicators: timeline compliance and quality assurance. They’ve always delivered on time and have even accommodated a deadline change. They go the extra mile to make sure we’re on track.

In terms of quality assurance, we appreciate when they troubleshoot as many bugs and glitches as possible before they release the beta version of the software. We typically don’t pick up any errors after that, so they do very well.

How did AtomicMedia perform from a project management standpoint?

They’ve fostered a good working relationship, which has been great. I’m on first-name basis with two of our account managers, and I feel like I can call them whenever. While I always try to call them during office hours, I occasionally have to reach out outside of office hours. They’ve been very supportive in those instances.

They meet with me regularly and are excellent at bringing together all the separate strands of the project. They’ve made understanding workflows and documentation very simple, which I appreciate. Overall, they’ve been engaged, transparent, and very professional.

What did you find most impressive about them?

While they’re the largest creative agency in the East Midlands of the UK, they offer London-level skills at a fair price. They’re creative, and they have visions that are equal to if not greater than some of the best agencies around. They’re just a talented group of people. Their raw talent truly distinguishes them.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I think they’re victims of their own success—they’re undergoing a huge period of growth, which they richly deserve. I hope they continue to expand, but I would appreciate some increased staffing for some tasks.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

I would maintain regular contact with the project manager because while they’re experts in IT, they’re not necessarily experts in your specific industry. Ensure that your vision is thoroughly understood by the person who’s in charge of bringing that vision to life.
