 As Chicagoland’s largest No Kill shelter and one of the largest in the nation, PAWS has helped to reduce the number of homeless pets killed in the city by over 91 percent since its founding in 1997. PAWS Chicago has grown from a grassroots organization to a national leader in the No Kill movement, guiding other communities in how to dramatically reduce the euthanasia of homeless cats and dogs.

We brought in Arch Web Design to help us rebuild the PAWS Chicago website. Our old site was clunky, hard to update, and just didn’t reflect who we are anymore. We needed a site that worked better, looked clean, and made it easier for people to adopt, donate, and get involved. The goal was simple make the site work for our mission.

They started by going through the old site and pointing out what needed to be fixed. Then they made a plan for how they’d rebuild it. They handled everything  new designs, mobile setup, better forms for donations and volunteering, and cleaned-up content too.

They also worked on the backend stuff like site speed and SEO. We had a lot of pet profiles and events that needed to be easier to find. They helped with all that. They even helped us link up our CRM better so everything runs smoother.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

After the site went live, we noticed people were staying longer on the site and not bouncing off as much. Our online donations jumped right away about 25% more than before. Volunteer sign-ups also picked up. Pages load faster now and everything just feels easier.

We had people on our team say they’re way more comfortable using the backend now too. That matters a lot.

They were easy to talk to. We mostly used email and Zoom. The project manager checked in often and kept us updated. If we had questions, they answered quick. They also gave us a space online to review drafts and give feedback. It helped us stay on the same page the whole way through.

They really cared. You could tell they weren’t just building another site....they wanted it to help our cause. They understood the nonprofit world and worked with our needs. They were patient, helpful, and listened. I liked how they made things simple for us without cutting corners.

The only small hiccup was scheduling the first call. Took a little back and forth, but once we started, things went smooth. No real complaints at all.

Taysia Blue Rescue strives to save lives by keeping Siberian Huskies and Alaskan Malamutes out of shelters. We provide them the with medical attention, socialization, exercise, food and a safe place to live with volunteer foster families until we can find them forever homes.

Arch Web Design built us a full database tool. They took our old Excel files and moved the info into the new system. Then they set up a nice and simple dashboard where we could search, update, and manage everything. For a little while, we kept using Excel too, just to make sure things lined up. Once we saw it all matched, we switched over completely.

It’s been a huge help. Now, if I want to know how many dogs are in foster, or how many adoptions we’ve had, I just click a button. We don’t waste time digging through rows of Excel. It’s faster and way less stressful. It’s helped us stay organized and focus more on the dogs.

They added features so applicants can upload documents, get automatic updates, and track their progress. On our end, it’s all in one place secure, organized, and so much faster. They really focused on making it accessible and safe since we’re dealing with personal information.

Before, just processing one request could take nearly an hour. Now, it’s usually done in under 15–20 minutes. That extra time adds up fast for our small nonprofit team. We’re now able to serve more people without getting buried in paperwork. The feedback from our community has been positive too it's just easier all around.

Started with a call where we talked about our problems and what we wanted. then i met with their project manager every week to go over content, pics, design, and the site plan. they made it easy to keep track and get stuff done.

After the new site launched we saw a big jump in people asking for help. got over 40 requests in the first month which was great. site is way easier to use now and that really shows.

What stuck with me was how nice and respectful the team was. being from central appalachia i’ve had people treat me like less but arch never did that. they were patient and real and never talked down to me.

We found a few typos and little bugs after launch but told Arch Web Design and they fixed it fast. no big deal

We are a rural district located in Pomeroy Washington, employing more than 90 staff members from Garfield County and the surrounding areas. We offer two facilities - Garfield County Hospital, and the Pomeroy Medical Clinic. Between our two facilities we provide 25 beds, a 24/7 emergency department, same-day lab services, diagnostic imaging and more! Our medical clinic is open 5 days a week. We have a dedicated and compassionate staff that cares greatly about our patients and residents.

University Community Health Services offers health care for the entire family from pregnancy to child birth and through geriatrics. We see patients in our network of clinics in Davidson County, in schools, and we can see home bound patients in their homes. We are also on site in the workplace caring for employees and their families.

The main source of communication between us was skype. Trello was the main source of project management. The project manager always kept up to date with all the milestones.

Project management was very strong by Brendan and Chris when they took over but the initial project management was behind, very strong in terms of communication and sticking to deadlines and timelines.

Fixed the project management earlier, but the team did in the end and we were very grateful for that

We started working together in April 2020, and it’s ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

We don’t do analytics, so I can’t provide any quantitative feedback. I know that the end customer receives arch Web Design’s development very well, and it’s pretty successful. It’s getting a lot of eyeballs. 

How did Arch Web Design perform from a project management standpoint?

We communicate through email, phone calls, and Zoom meetings. We are using a QA tool that has been very effective. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

Arch Web Design is a manageable-sized agency, and it’s great to have that kind of intimate interaction. We don’t feel like we’re just a number talking to an AI. Rather, there’s a real human connection between our teams — that has kept the project moving as smoothly as possible.

Are there any areas they could improve?

We committed with the end user a timeline that, for various reasons, became a moving target. We kept adding new functionality and content without moving the deadline. We both could have done better by being more realistic with what can happen and being more upfront when we need more time and resources.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Be upfront and specific with what your expectations are and how those tangibly translate. The more clear you are, the better the project will be. Work collaboratively to flesh out solutions.

About the 2023 Canada Games: As a province known for its hospitality, we’re excited to welcome the 2023 Canada Winter Games to Prince Edward Island. From February 18 – March 5, 2023, the Games will bring together 3,600 athletes, managers and coaches, across 20 different sports, for the largest multi-sport event in the country.

With a forecasted economic impact of over $100 million, the 29th edition of the Canada Games will be the largest event hosted in Prince Edward Island’s history. Garet is a member of the Senior Leadership Team reporting to the CEO, responsible for brand development and driving overall awareness and engagement for the 2023 Canada Games and Canada Games movement.

Responsibilities include leading mass marketing and PR strategies, media relations, strategic communications, social media and digital content, website development, merchandise, ticketing, and community engagement development including mascot, torch relay, and education programs.

The Canada Games website was currently in need of an overall. As a host society, we needed a site that served on the same platform as the Canada Games Council's site with similar design and functionality. Arch Web understood our needs and was able to offer a website development solution that could be scaled over time and be passed on from our Games to the next without reinventing the wheel or designing a net new website each time.
